Madelina is the youngest daughter of a Norman conqueror and a woman of power. Her own power is insignificant enough in her eyes that she trains to be a healer under the expert tutelage of her mother. When a child is brought to the castle where she lives, she knows she doesn’t have the skills to heal him, and her mother’s powers—and her own—will need to be revealed to a handsome knight. Alexander Lain is the seventh son of a seventh son, and as such he has luck on his side in everything he does. When he finds a peasant child burning with fever, her parents burning in a hovel nearby, he takes the child, hoping to find someone who can heal her. He’s pointed toward the castle and Lady Lina, and he takes the child there, finding it convenient that his errand was taking him to the same place. What he sees in his first hour in the castle astounds him, but it doesn’t keep him from an attraction for the young lady there. Will he be able to convince her—and her father—she’s meant to be his bride? Or will his luck finally run out?
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "⭐" Wonderful: 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 "🥰" Uau.. WoW... 😍😍😍 Kirsten Osbourne foi maravilhosa nessa escrita do eBook... 🤩🤩 O sétimo filho do sétimo filho... A super reading tip... 🤩😍 Happy reading,,, and until the next tip.. 😘😘
I loved the narration of Alison Phoenix, who brings the characters, angst, drama, romance and steam to your ears.
Madelina may be a woman of power, but that doesn't stop her training to be a healer. Learning her skills from her mother. A child is brought to the castle, Madelina knows both hers and mothers skills to heal her. But doing so will be revealed to a handsome knight, who bought her in. Alexander is the seventh son of a seventh son. When he finds a peasant child with a fever, he takes her to the castle, the same castle he has been told to go to for and errand. Even though he finds the castle wonderful, its the young lady who is there that he finds amazing. He needs to convince Madelina and her father, that she’s meant to be his bride. Can his luck of the seventh son of a seventh son hold out.
Great characters, with the right amount of drama and steam.
Kirsten Osbourne is truly a story teller. This story is fabulous. I absolutely loved this story on many fronts. It is fun, fascinating, a bit quirky, and so good you will want to read it as soon as you can. I have read some of the contemporary ones of this series, but now she is going back in time in the early 1100's. So think of castles, knights, lords and ladies, and the last daughter of the father who's brother is friends of another Lord and his last son looking to marry the last daughter of the other family. You will enjoy this book and the families gifts, so to speak. I highly recommend this story and I am going to get the next one also.
Alexander/Alex (7th son /is lucky ) and Madelina/Lina gift of the power to control weather. I enjoyed this captivating story that is well written with charismatic characters, and witty/humorous dialogue that Kirsten is known for. This story has a very satisfying HEA!!
This is/can be a standalone BUT I personally think (from my own experience) that this new series is more enjoyable after reading the Thrice Blessed series. It was awesome to "catch up" on the characters from Thrice Blessed. Now on to book 2 of the McClains series.
I don’t know what it is with Osbourne’s writing but it annoys me. Again, this was very clunky. Her characters are underdeveloped, her detail is long-winded and repetitive and she tells rather than shows. I think that, maybe, her style is quite immature, but I still can’t pick what it actually is that aggravates me. Some of her previous books were in present tense, but not this one, yet the problem remains. However, yet again, her ideas are fabulous.
I am probably being overly generous in giving three stars.
Great start to a series that should be fun reading!
When a seventh son comes looking for a bride he gets much more than he bargained for. Madelina is a most unusual young woman and Alex is immediately attracted to her. But the women in her family have powers and that includes Madelina. Not many women would be eager to marry a Seventh Son because it means she will birth seven sons. This is a sweet story and there are some great and funny moments.
This one's a winner. I you enjoyed Kirsten's contemporary Seven Sons series, be prepared for more late night reading. This series apparently leads up to Penny's story in the Oran Orphans series. It's truly amazing how Kirsten manages to keep all of these storylines straight, but I for one, am truly grateful.
Kirsten makes the middle ages come alive again with a sequel to her wonderful Thrice Blessed series and ultimate prequel to Seven Sons. Magic, luck, and love abound. As usual the characters and story is well done. Conversations and themes flow excellently, and historical accuracy maintained. Can't wait for book two.
This is another excellent story from the pen of Kirsten Osbourne. When the seventh son of a seventh son turns up on her castle step Madelina/Lina is more than happy to be his bride. But can the=is very independent young lady learn to obey her new lord. Alison Phoenix really brings the character life.
This book is about women with powers, like healing a with a touch, controlling the weather, telaphety, and alot more as each female has different powers. And Madelina marrys Alexander, whose family are very very lucky about everything. So they have 7 sons and the last one has special powers.
This is certainly a standalone, but for those of us who have embraced the contemporary series of the seven sons, this prequel is going to be just as fun. Looking forward to the fun.
I loved how this book is tying multiple series together. Book two can not be here soon enough. A must read, to would help if you read Thrice Blessed books first. I would read Seven sons after this series.
At first I felt the characters were a bit "stiff" and I think it's just the fact that they use proper formal English without contractions. It's a cute story and I did enjoy it once I got in the flow.
This is the first book I have read by this author. I was not at all dissappointed! This was also the first book I have read with kindle unlimited. Absolutely amazing. I will be reading more from the author and KU!!!!
I really enjoyed this one! A new author to me, I was pleased to say I will be Looking for her books again! Just the right blend of magic, romance and humor! Great story! Quick read! Loved it!
I'm so glad Kirsten Osbourne decided to do this! Alex and Lina's story was so good! I'm looking forward to see all the generations that come from this couple!!!
I loved the Seventh son series set in modern times but was unsure since the time period of this story wasn't one I normally like. I have to say I absolutely loved it.
She’s got special talents as does her whole family. He’s the seventh son of a seventh son and comes looking for a bride, they wed and have sons with special talents tooo
