Ashe was different. Broken. That's what her pack had called her... She couldn't shift after all. And with magic coursing through her veins she was an outcast. Years of pain, anger, and sadness had passed before she finally accepted her wicked life. That is until her cards revealed a truth that terrified her to the bone. Ashe and Cohen were bound together, one couldn't live without the other. Two souls as one. That was the truth her cards had revealed...
Cohen's animal was cursed. A darkness lingered in his eyes - the telltale signs that a monster lurked within. He had moved away from his pack to protect them. To protect his brothers and more importantly, to protect her. The only time he had known calmness was when he was with her. Simply being in the presence of Ashe had brought a temporary peace to the demon inside him. Despite his intentions to protect her, being away from her for all those years only made his animal worse. Only made him worse.
Cohen longed to see her face and hear her soft voice again. But even more than that, he wanted to watch her as she moved, to feel her skin against his, and to hear her screaming his name - a lust that only she could sate. That's why when Ashe had called him back to Stonefall he knew he couldn't run any longer. Perhaps now it was time to face the truth that he ignored for all those years.
This is book 3 of the Outcast Bears series, however it can be read as a standalone!
Content Warning: This book contains lots of sexy shifter action. Intended for a mature audience only.
Reading wasn't always Emilia's passion, but over the years she developed an irreplaceable love for books. She writes about large, protective alpha males and their strong, sexy female mates. If you enjoy steamy shifters and fated mates, then you'll LOVE Emilia's books!
Intense Suspenseful I absolutely FLOVE this series! Each new book is more intense than the last. Ashe has called back the sons in the wake of their father- the Alpha's illness - Now she must find a way to mend the wounds of the past and bring forth the man she has seen behind the veil Considered a pariah by most of her pack - she has spent her life hiding who she truly is - as a child, she found her safety in the silence of Cohen's presence - now she must face him again but this time she knows something he doesn't Cohen fears his beast and has spent his life running from himself under the guise that it was for the good of those he loved What happens when everything you believed to be true is cast in a new light? When are you called out on your lies and half-truths?

I was granted an ARC of Emilia Hartley's "Cohen (The Outcast Bears Book 3)" via Booksprout; I recommend this book to others based upon its own merits. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given! Until next time... Happy Reading!
I LOVE reading. I LOVE reading many different genres. One of those being about the paranormal, more specifically about bear shifters. This book is book 3 of the The Outcast Bears Series by the top 100 author, Emilia Hartley who makes these wonderful paranormal creatures 'come to life' before your very eyes. In this book we get to learn about Ashe and Cohen. She is the result of a witch mother and a lynx shifter father, but she herself cannot shift and so she is mistrusted. She only ever feels safe when Cohen is there. But Cohen has his own problems. he is an alpha bear shifter with no pack to run and he is concerned that he couldn't control his bear. They knew each other as youngsters but they kept apart and never spoke. Cohen avoids his family and those he loves to protect them from his bear. But Ashe has seen him in the cards and knows that her only chance of happiness is with him! To find out how this all occurs and if they do, indeed, have their HEA you need to get your own copy and enjoy. This can be read as a standalone although it is much better as a part of the series. I can't wait for the next book! I loved reading about Cohen and Ashe and her struggles with magic and his with his bear and I so wanted their story to turn out well. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ashe had an awful upbringing and always escaped her father's torment to the Vancourt shed, where Cohen would sit and protect her until she was able to go back home and face more of the same from her father. Her mother was a witch and not well liked by their pack at all based on basically turning her husband into her pet, instead of respecting the mate bond. After her mother's death, Ashe is tolerated by her pack but fears what they may do at some point if she truly releases her magic. But when Cohen comes back home, Ashe sees a future in the cards that she can't understand and believe, can she be happy?
Cohen has always fought against his beast of a bear and left whenever he could to keep his family safe. But whenever Ashe is around the beast settles and calms down, but his father always said never to trust her. Upon his father's death, the pack needs a new alpha, can Cohen stay to be that for himself and the pack? But one night changes everything for Cohen and Ashe, but when Logan and Killian appear, can Cohen trust Ashe or will he continue to fear her and her powers?
I loved Cohen and Ashe's story, it includes love, lust, romance, scandal, drama, tragedy and much more. And through their suffering comes a love greater than they were prepared for. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cohen, the third story of The Outcast Bears series is explosive – there is really no other way to describe the emotions, the danger, the action or the characters.
The story description gives you enough of the basic story to decide to pick this one up, but I hope you’ll start from the beginning of this series since it truly does build with each story. You could read this on its own, but there are events that happen throughout the series that come to a climax in this story, besides Archer and Gage are both intriguing stories as well.
There are twists and turns, unexpected events and an amazing couple in Cohen and Ashe. You’ll meet up with the earlier couples in this series and see how their lives together continue as well as their packs. I’m going to be vague on this one for I believe that this one needs to hold the suspense, surprises and excitement of reading Cohen for yourself and getting completely caught up in this story. I will say there is definitely danger, surprises and most definitely sizzling sexy moments that you won’t want to miss. I’d recommend this story and the entire series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader – indulge yourself and enjoy.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Ashe, is barely tolerated by her pack, because of her mother . Daughter of a witch and lynx shifter, she can't shift. she has some magic. Her mothers dark magic cost her her life. Ashe fights the same dark magic, and fears it will cost her her life as well. She only feels safe around Cohen. Cohen, wants her to break the pack bond he has with Gage and Kaylee. He fears his bear, will eventually turn on them. He wants to leave before his bear does something unforgivable. Ashe knows his bear is an Alpha, and a fierce protector. He needs a pack to protect to be at peace. The VanCourt brothers were raised to fear Ashe. Though they frequently protected her. Their mistrust runs deep. Cohen has only ever been at peace with Ashe. A war is coming. Killian is nothing compared to what is coming. He will need Ashe, his brothers, and all three packs to do it, but will mean he will have to become what he fears. Great story, with a bitter sweet ending, and great epilogue. Loved Cohen and Ashe. They suffered so much. Their happy ending was hard won. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book from Booksprout. I bought a copy in support of the author and will be reading this series again.
I think I liked this one the best out of the Outcast Bears series so far. I felt I got a deeper look into both main characters. They were both so broken and all they needed was each other to heal. Ashe was wonderful, and I loved how she was always watching over Cohen, and then I loved how Cohen always knew she was there even though he couldn't see her. JUST ADORBS!!!! Now there was one part where Cohen had his head up his ass and thought the worst of Ashe...and in my mind, I think Ashe forgave him a little too quick. I think I would have made him sweat it out a bit and made him work for it...lol. Anyway, best one yet. NEXT IS A SPOILER......SO DON'T READ AHEAD. Sooooooo....you know that Ashe is a witch shifter but she doesn't know what she is because she has never been able to shift. When Cohen started calling her Little Bird and they kept talking about her being burned for being a witch, I was sooooooo hoping she would have been a Phoenix!!!! But she ended up being an owl. HOW AWESOME would it have been, for the bad guys to think they killed her by burning her only to have her rise up into her shifter animal...the Phoenix. I was devastated when she turned into a owl...I needed her to be more badass than that. hahaha
Ashe was taking care of Sampson Vancourt, who was racked with coughing and was sleeping most of the time now. A shifter unable to shift, filled with magic and witchcraft, Ashe was not a popular member of the Pack. When she heard the door open behind her, she didn’t turn around. She had seen Cohen in her cards and knew he was the one who had entered. The cards had told her that he was bound to her! All she had wanted was to escape the Pack life, not be bound to a cursed bear! Will Cohen lose control of his bear? What kind of a future awaits them?
I really enjoyed this book! The main characters both endured pain and suffering over their perceived failures. Ashe couldn’t shift and was tormented by the Pack for her assumed weakness. Cohen was afraid that his curse would harm those he loved – his family as well as Ashe. So they avoided each other trying to keep the other safe – despite the fact that they were fated to be together, and that was the only thing that might make them whole. Don’t miss this well written book and see if they find their HEA at last!
Ashe is sort of an outcast she is a shifter but she does witchcraft. She was teased when she was younger and now when she calls Cohen back because of his father's illness he is not happy. Ashe is getting tired of all shifter attitudes towards her.
While reading her cards Ashe finds out that her and Cohen are bound together. Cohen's family was the ones that protected her when she was younger, but she is afraid of the one man she is bound too he seems like a monster to her. But she knows Cohen's family needs him there to be the leader of their pack she only has to convince him.
Does Cohen take his place in the pack? Or will the arch enemy succeed in his plan to take over ?Does Ashe finally open up and let Cohen know that he is her mate. I enjoyed this story very much and liked how Cohen and Ashe denied their feelings for each other till they could no longer hold back from one another. This story is fast and quickly gets to the point it was a perfect read for me. I voluntarily received an arc copy through Booksprout for my honest review
Ashe is not a very well liked member of her pack, she is part witch part lynx shifter but she can’t shift. Cohen is a bear shifter an alpha who has trouble controlling his bear. Ashe and Cohen know that they are both destined to be mates but they stay away from each other to keep the other one safe. Cohen ran from the pack when he was younger and now that his father is ill Ashe calls him back to the pack to take over but he isn’t happy at all. Wow another fantastic read by Emilia Hartley every book that she has brought out has been a big hit and this one is no exception. The chemistry was always there between Cohen and Ashe but they fought it all the way, but when they both realised there was no use in fighting against it they had to fight even harder to keep it. I loved the characters and the plot of the story, it was a great read and I enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
“Cohen” is a wonderful addition to the Outcast Bears series. The characters are well-developed and the story is captivating. Ashe is a shifter and a witch that is shunned by the pack because of the evil acts her mother perpetrated. Although she has magic powers she is unable to shift. Cohen is a troubled shifter who believes he has a monster inside and that he will eventually hurt the people he loves. He has come home to see his dying father. Despite being fated mates Cohen avoids Ashe as he is fearful he will hurt her. Cohen has responsibilities to the pack which he doesn't want. What will happen with the pack? Can Ashe and Cohen become close again? Why is Cohen's dad unable to heal himself? “Cohen” has everything to keep you reading, secrets, mistrust, danger, betrayal, suspense, action, passion and love. This exciting book is well worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have to say this is my favorite of the books in the series. Cohen struggles so much with his bear and has made some tough choices in the hope of protecting those he loves. Ashe has also struggled as being different from the rest of the pack. With a witch as a mother and a shifter father, she has never fit in and has suffered much abuse from those who claim to love her.
Cohen and Ashe made a perfect couple as they are so imperfect and understand how much pain that brings. Cohen was her protector for many years until he left with his brothers. Ashe brought him back to help but it has stirred up a lot of trouble.
I really enjoyed the story. I felt like I really understood the characters and appreciated their strength. They really have stayed strong and been so alone. It is wonderful to see them get a chance at love.
I highly recommend you read the series in order. They are all really good stories and build upon one another.
After reading the first 2 books I couldn't wait for this one to finally see what would happen to Cohen as well as to find out more about Ashe and if she will finally find her inner animal. There were so many inner struggles going on for Cohen as he finally started to process why he was the way he is as well as deal with a surprise no on expected. It was so sad how Ashe has lived her life in fear of her farther while he tried to get her animal to show as well as who and what her mother did. There were times I wanted to knock both of them on the head and shake them while we waited to see if they realised they are meant to be. I have to say I am actually really sad this trilogy is over but know there will be more great books by Emilia Hartley.

As always Emilia Hartley does not disappoint. I found Cohen to be my favorite of the 3 brothers. There was so much complexity to his character that made him so interesting . At times I found myself getting angry with him as well as loving him. The way Ms. Hartley can make me feel about her characters is just one of the many reasons I love her books. Her writing always has made me feel I am truly part of the story. The way she describes the town and the homes gives me such a clear picture in my mind . I also enjoyed her interpretation of the packs in this series. Each shifter book has a different take on pack life, this book had one that I truly enjoyed as it was different from so many others. Great stories to read alone but I think everyone should do themselves a favor a read all 3!!!
Cohen is the oldest of the Vancourt brothers - and after his father dies he should be taking over the position as alpha. But he does not trust his bear. His bear is difficult to control and he fears that he will hurt others. Meeting Ashe again brings out a new side in him- She calms his bear. His father had warned though against witches, and since they were small instilled fear against witches in his sons. Ashe is the daughter of a witch, who had to be stopped by the clan and he knows he cannot trust Ashe. So why does his bear trust her? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. A lovely story, thrilling and exhilarating at times, full of self-doubt and fear of the unknown, people trying to manipulate them. A really intriguing story.
This is the third book in the series called the Outcast Bears and I would recommend if you like Shifter books. This is Ashe and Cohen's story there is danger, suspense, drama, a man that is evil but he has ties to the brothers who he turns out being was a surprise! Ashe has been abused for years by the pack because she could not shift, the only ones that protected her when she was in her teens were the brothers especially Cohen, but then the brothers left, until now. What happens kept me reading to the end now that the series is finished at least the brothers part I am going to go back and reread these books.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cohen, oh so hot, oh so grumpy, oh so very very lonely. Cohen has a beast of a bear and he can't seem to control it at all, except when sweet Ashe is around, his bear seems content, he's never understood that. After being called back to his fathers home, he can't help but follow where Ashe goes. There is a strange attraction that he can't seem to figure out. Ashe is alone and has always been that way, at least once the brother were thrown from the pack. She has somehow made a sort of life for herself, and now its all going to crap and she can't figure this attraction to Cohen out. Watching these two wade the waters of life and love and what Pack/Family really means was amazing. Cohen and Ashe each needing to find something that was missing and what a ride it was to watch!!

An interesting shifter and witch romance.💙🐻🧙
I really enjoyed this book!💗
Ashe is a witch and no one thinks she's anything else. But things are starting to change for her and she's beginning to wonder about that. Part of the changes are connected to Cohen, who is an alpha bear in serious fear of losing control of his "beast". Cohen has always felt a connection to Ashe. From the time they were children, he felt more in control of his beast when they were together.
The emotional connection between Cohen and Ashe is amazing and the passion they feel when they finally give in might just melt your Kindle.😍🔥💞
This is the 3rd and final book in this brilliant series. It is different to most bear shifters stories. Most are set with strong packs and leaderships, this was turmoil and fighting from the start. 3 brothers each different, each having a story this was Cohen and Ashe's. Both think they are broken. Cohen has always struggled to control his bear. Ashe had a shifter father and a witch mother. She didn't think she had an animal, her father spent yrs trying to get her to shift, she had some of her mother's powers though. There is big trouble brewing for the brothers and the pack, Ashe has seen it in the cards, they will all need to pull together to survive. Thank you Emilia Hartley, for a real good series. Sue P
I am deliriously happy after that ending. I fell hard for the Vancourt brothers. But none harder than Cohen. He was my favorite from the very beginning. Ashe was beyong perfection for him and everyone else. I am sad to see this series end. I would love to see some extended epilogues for everyone. But i suppose i can be enough by continuing to read whatever emilia decides to write next. Yeah, no, im lieing. Im too greedy. I want both. I highly and enthusiastically recommend this book and the entire series. Happy reading! Rating 5 stars

A shifter story that is very captivating and with a great plot and storyline. It has great characters that both have to heal because they have had a past that hurt them and they have to get through that to get their HEA. Ashe and Cohen are both shifters. They are attracted to each other but have not taken the chance to show it to each other. They are really hurt and haunted by their past and cruel parents. They are each others true mates but can they get through all the difficulties that are thrown towards them and healing they need afterwards. Can they both survive and take their place in the pact?
An amazing and captivating shifters romance that I read in one setting.
Cohen and Ashe...she brought the brothers back because it was time they face their dying father. Cohen is a beast and has control issues with his bear, Ashe is a witch that his father warned the boys to stay away from. How can you stay away from someone that is calling out to you and you don't even know it is happening. There are secrets shed in this book that really had me twisting in my seat as I never expected it. Great book, and hope there will be more in this series, even though the brothers story line is done.

As with the other two preceding books this really should have had five stars. It was beautifully written, errors were at a minimum and when it did hit it’s stride it was riveting. The length of time that it took to get there was what lost all three books their fifth star. When I read a book I expect to be gripped by it, reluctant to put it down to go to bed. What I don’t expect is to yawn and wonder if I should maybe find a different book to read and then perhaps come back to the first one. Sad, but there you are. Writers often feel that five hundred pages are needed when two hundred and fifty will be more than enough to keep their readers interest.
I already predicted that Cohen's story was going to be deeply emotional. This story is packed with action, danger, twist and turns that will keep you glued to the very end. Truly a page Turner. Cohen is a bear shifter that always struggled to control the monster inside him. Ashe is half shifter, half witch, always a out ast in her own pack, expecting to be burn alive by her people at any given moment. But with the former bond between her and Cohen, will she be strong enough to call in her animal and help her mate and pack?! Amazing read! Fantastic twist I didn't see coming!!! Highly recommended
This is an intense and powerful shifter romance. Both these characters carry burdens. Ashe believes she is broken because she has magic and can not shift. Cohen believes his animal is cursed and that a monster lurks within him. While drawn to each other they resist out of fear and a desire to protect the other. With complex emotional turmoil, drama, danger and suspense along with some steam and a fated mates romance; there is plenty to grab and keep your attention. I'm posting a honest, voluntary review after reading this book.
Ashe was always the outcast because she was a shiftless witch in a pack of shifters. Cohen has always struggled with a bear that was out of control. Years ago they bonded, but he left. Will Ashe be able to find her true self? Will Cohen be able to find where he belongs?
Was so excited to get these two and it didn't dissapoint. Loved the fact that while Cohen is supposedly this big, strong leader, he has massive amount of insecurities. Loved how despite being treated bad, Ashe still had a heart and was willing to help others. These two were two broken pieces that fit perfectly!

This is the third book in the Vancourt saga and the most dark of the three. Cohen is nothing like his two younger brothers, but neither of them are Alpha. Cohen is afraid of the bear within just as Ashe suppressed he own abilities as a witch. But like Star Trek, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few and so the action begins with the death of Sampson. But....is there foul play afoot here? Intrigue, betrayal, and suspense thrive between the pages of this story. A must read! The reason only rated it for 4 stars is that there wasn't resolution to main issue with Sampson.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I did read the prior book, Gage, but not the first book Archer. There were scenes that left me wondering as I hadn't read the first book. At other portions of the book, I was extremely grateful for reading the second as I would have been completely lost. This was a good book but there really needs to be a warning that you need to start with the first book to completely understand the dynamics of the plot.
Awesome addition to this series. Cohen is damaged, and Ashe is the only one who can soothe him. When danger arrives unexpectedly, can these two tortured souls work together to save the clan? Great storyline, strong characters and a twist at the end that I didn’t expect. Emilia’s writing just keeps getting better and better. Can’t wait to see what she has planned next. This is the third book in the series and like the second it is a really good shifter romance, with plenty of action thrown in. Although it is quite short and easily read in one sitting, you don't feel that whilst reading it as it is full from beginning to end. If you enjoy paranormal romance with shifters then I can definitely recommend this book and this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
