DNF. I was 5 1/2 hours into the audiobook and couldn't muster enough interest to finish.

Admittedly I am not a fan of viking stories, but I am a fan of the narrator, Luke Daniels.

Luke Daniels does a wonderful presentation but the characters fell flat and in some ways were so stereotypical it was silly. I can't blame my dislike on the fact that it was a viking story because after the initial marauding, the story was just village life.

This was a pleasant surprise. Going into this book, I REALLY wasn't sure what to expect. I just couldn't get a bead on if I'd like it or not from the sample and blurb. But, the sample sounded good. I love Norse history and mythology. And, I haven't listened to anything by Luke Daniels that was bad, though he's fairly new to me. I'm glad I went for it. This book was a lot of fun. It was sprinkled with history, culture clash, and was about one woman navigating her way in a new land and new culture. It had humor and wit, battles and romance. This was my first introduction to authors James and Aasne Daniels.

I was also very different from anything I'd heard from Luke Daniels before. He always brings such energy and unique characterizations to his performances, that I knew he wouldn't disappoint. But, with this one I got to hear new voices, accents, and even singing. Another masterful performance. Totally enjoyed this book.

A great story full of action, romance, humor, with an intriguing cast of characters. I think the narrator did a great job with the different characters. A bit slow in places, such as the village life, but it picks up quickly. An interesting tale of the age of the Vikings. Aisling and Cormac make an interesting match. Enjoyable and satisfying audible.

Loved it! This was my first James and Aasne Daniels's book. This story, beautifully written, is fast-paced, action packed and intriguing, filled with Norse history and mythology, romantic scenes and hilarious moments. I love the two main characters, Aisling and Cormac. Aisling is strong, resilient and feisty. Her inner voice is hilarious! Cormac is an alpha protective man. I also love the secondary characters Signe, Brother Owen and Hilde. Brother Owen is so hilarious! Cormac's brothers, Trygge and Rafn are complex and intriguing secondary characters. I love to hate Rafn. This story is a gem. The narration is absolutely perfect. I love Luke Daniels's voice. He's now one of my favorite narrators. He's doing a great job with all characters and accents! His interpretation is stunning! I enjoyed my listening! I'm looking forward for more books written by those authors (maybe a sequel of The Viking's Bride?). I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

This book for me was an unexpected surprise. The Viking era is not one I look to listen to, but this one has an interesting story, and the narration by Luke Daniels is nothing short of amazing. The story is about Aisling, who on her wedding day is kidnapped and taken as a slave to a Viking settlement in Norway. Now having to care for Ragnar, the leader of the settlement, Aisling is adjusting to her new life, being watched by the sons of the leader and is attracted to one in particular. But will she be able to choose which one she stays with? Will she ever be set free to go back to Ireland? I loved Aisling, she is such a strong and feisty character. Her inner voice came through advising her which is something I can relate to. The sharp contrast between brothers is glaring, and makes the story that much more interesting. Throw in the humor of Brother Owen and we even have laugh out loud moments. With the visual background of Norway, this is a wonderful telling of the Viking Age with a little romance, a little humor and a lot of suspense!

Luke Daniels truly brings this story to life. He has a plethora of voices, each character easily distinguishable. I love his accents, his ability to voice male and female voices and even carry a tune! The book is a pleasure to listen to.

Standalone Story.

Aisling is preparing for her dreaded wedding by hiding in the cellar, only to be abducted by a band of raiders and taken to their ship. Cormac is the dark, brooding man who saves her from being brutalized, but he still carries her away from her home. Once the boat reaches Norway Aisling is given to the ailing chief of the village as a slave. The chief has three sons who run the village - Cormac the brooding, Trygge the sweet and learned, and Rafn the Evil. If Aisling manages to survive her captors, can she ever become one of them?

If you've been looking for a great story with wonderful ties to Non-Greek/Roman mythology, this is the book for you.

Audio Review:
Luke Daniels embodies the characters he reads. His accents are well-thought-out and distinct.

This was a a different type of marauders tale. Yes the Vikings came in and kidnapped and stole, but the authors didn’t linger on the actual event this story had more to do with the life of Aisling after she arrived at her new home. She wasn’t raped, wasn’t mistreated, her life at first was that of a servant, but she soon showed her worth as more and gained the grudging respect of some, and full respect of others, and the hatred of one, but in the end she proved to all that her knowledge was far more advanced than there’s and she was an asset.

This was the first audiobook I have ever considered and completely finished. I was pleasantly surprised. I have a long commute and this helped pass the time. I really enjoyed the story line (anything with Vikings is usually a win for me) and the characters were likable. I will say it took me a bit to get on with the love interest but once it was clear that they might be together I was more convinced. There were moments where I was surprised, happy and sad. I really enjoyed the narrator and the experience as a whole was great. I will definitely be trying more audiobooks out after listening to this one.

The most annoying reading voice. Guess it's cheaper to have husband narrate. HORRIBLE

This narration from Audible was horrible....Don't waste your money. Could barely keep up with understanding which character was doing speaking.
