The residents of Pine Valley Colorado know all about winter sports and tourists, but they're about to get a crash course in the supernatural...
It's a good thing the big bad shifters of Wolfsbane Investigations are ready to step in and make sure things don't go too far off the deep end.
Part 1 I’ve spent every vacation that I can remember in a tiny town in Colorado called Pine Valley. Great shopping, top notch skiing, and the best social scene a girl could ask for. I pretty much wrote the book on how to be a “snow bunny”. But this year someone got bold enough to steal my jewels right out of my safe! Fortunately for me, hot investigator Dawson Ames is here to save the day. Sort of. Okay so Dawson is just about as hot as he is cold. But I can win him over. I just hope I can do it before things get any weirder. I’m beginning to think that there’s a whole lot more to my fave vacation spot than skiing.
Part 2 If I have to smile at one more spoiled snow bunny and try to sell her jewelry she doesn’t need, I’m going to scream. My name is Callie Pearson and I’m just trying to make a living in a town populated by rich people enjoying their winter vacations. Then a simple shoplifting call gets turned into a huge scandal and my boss hires Owen Ames to investigate the loss. All I know is that he’s tall, dark, and scary. Not only that but I’m the number one suspect! It’s going to take all my brains and twice my charm to figure this one out. Fortunately for me Owen has enough charm for both of us. It’s a good thing too. This is more like a scene from Hollywood than a tiny ski town and I’m not at all ready for primetime.
Part 3 I’ve come to the Pine Valley ski resort with one thing in mind—to make a deal that will secure my career for years to come. When Jade King sets her mind on a deal, it gets done. That’s my reputation and I’m not about to screw that up. Unfortunately for me, my impromptu stalker doesn’t necessarily agree. A quick call to Wolfsbane Investigations brings a guy named Aaron Ames to my door and suddenly there are weird things happening all over the place. I can’t tell if this guy is going to keep me safe or walk the line between safe and something else entirely. But maybe that’s what I need since the past and the present are on a collision course and I’m stuck right in the middle.
Part 4 I’m a psychic and save your comments because I’ve already heard them all. My name is Celia Rivers and I’m not sure what’s going on in Pine Valley, but the energy has become so overwhelming that I’m almost afraid to try and do a simple palm reading. Something big is going down in this town and the local witch coven is trying to cover up whatever it is. At this point I’ve got no choice but to team up with whatever supernatural entity is willing to take this bull—or possibly demonic entity—by the horns. Of course that means I’ve got Vaughn Ames on my tail. He’s big. He’s intimidating. He’s also super yummy.
Part 5 Most people come to Pine Valley for the skiing. I’m here to search for answers. Answers about my family. Answers about my past. And apparently answers about why the hell I’ve spent my life wearing a stone around my neck that doesn’t even belong to me! But when I begin to discover who I am and what I’m destined for, I meet a man named Zane Ames. He’s looking for my moonstone. He claims that it belongs to him. But I’m not letting go without a fight. So if he wants to bring it, I’ll consider myself challenged.
4 Star Kindle Unlimited Read I'm glad I read this as a box set. I don't think I would have liked it as much if I hadn't. The series of books blended so effortlessly that it had the fill of a single book. I strongly recommend reading as a box set.
I think it started kind of slow but then suddenly I was hooked! There’s just so much happening in that small town you won’t be able to put it down. Could not believe the ending, it was great. Each story has a HFN and the ending is a HEA.
Ok as a box set read it was good if I had purchased the first book as a single I will be honest and say I would not have bought the rest of the series but over all it was an ok read.
Storyline - I found it a bit all over the place and really wish the author has done research into crystals, gemstones and earth magic for the story to be more believable but it lacked substance for me and yes I know as a work of fiction its just that fiction but I prefer my fiction to have a bit of depth to it, I want to be mesmerised by the words on the page not shocked and thinking that’s just crap but I need to keep reading just to see if it get’s better, it didn’t get better but I kept going anyway but that’s just me I started the box set and I needed to finish it.
Characters, yep not much to say on them, they were wishy washy at best again no depth or really strength to them.
I will say there was some nice descriptive writing involving the scenery at times but at other times it felt like parts were glanced over or missing all together.
I do not typically enjoy mystical books. I rarely ever read them.
This series was good. The only problem I had (besides the editing) was that the "alpha" was not an alpha at all. This entire series he was totally disrespected by his pack. Even the last book in the series (the one about the alpha) was mostly about the pack mocking his authority. So this book got 4 star - really 3.5 stars. It would have and would have been so much better had they actually been a pack of shifters instead a group of individuals. Each and every book in this series was about 1 shifter going against the rest of the pack and finding their mate. It was more like a brothers - in a family or a sisters-in a family. Where they all had their own lives and tried to avoid the rest of the family if at all possible. There was little to no introduction to who the next shifter would be in the previous book. These were novels that could stand alone with minimal bearing on the next book.
Well written, no grammatical errors, questionable characters
3.5 stars perhaps. I'm sorry to say I did not like any of the characters. Nearly all the women were unlikeable b-word witches. The men were one dimensional. I'm rather surprised since there seems to be talent in this author. The writing was mature I just didn't enjoy it. I went back several times to try and finish the books, which I eventually did. However at no point did I connect with any of them. Honestly the women had few redeeming qualities-if I met them I wouldn't want to waste time getting to know them. I am hoping in the future this author can improve on her characters. With what is clearly talent in this author, I'm sure a few beta readers could help soften the edges as needed resulting in a good enjoyable read!
3.5*s Pros for this book is the length of it. It’s a really good - takes some reading which is always a bonus. Probably enjoyed Britt and Dawsons book the most - 1st one. This isn’t really a gritty shifters book, it’s a gentle read most of the time for YA. Plenty of drama going on in pine valley. Lots of girlie - falling in and out of social groups. The money against the locals. Premise of books ok. The shifters in search of their mates and then the moonstone which will allow them to breed with human women as there’s no shifters left as they’ve all been murdered. The problem is the alpha - zane - he’s just lacking. Not sure whether this is because of aimed at a YA audience. The author has definitely got the dynamics right with groups of bitchy women - it’s painful to read at times. Just something missing for me. Stupid to say it wasn’t believable - it’s a book about shifters and witches!! Just didn’t work - the insta-love/mate thing, not following the alpha/pack rules. How gormless the whole town is. Last book wraps everything up in a time loop which again just neat not real?? Will try another series by this author though.
I love to read about shifters. There's romance, brawls, family and most of all the pack. Family should always be close like wolves. They protect each other from everything. They give unconditional love and strong friendship. Humans should spend more time learning from them and less time trying to get rid of them. I sometimes think there is an alternate world this one and we all live this kind of life.wouldn't that be great. This book was really good or should i say books. Each had their own story with great intermingling of characters. Loved it and think you will too! A book doesn't have to be expensive to be great
It is not often I read five books in a row from a collection. I usually get bored and want something else, but not this time. I was fully invested in finding out what was in store for the men of Wolfsbane and the women they chose for mates. It was a wonderful read. The town of Pine Valley reminded me of my own small town and I could easily see myself there. The mystery and intrigue of the witches and the moonstone kept me totally engaged. I loved the final solution. Give us more.
I have to say that this is definitely one of the best collections of books within the genre. I read a lot, and I include a large portion of self- published authors in my reading. This series has complicated plots with unique twists to the typical story of this genre, really decent editing/ proofing, and still provides happy endings. I'll definitely be checking out other books by this author!
There is a small ski mountain near the more famous ones that gets plenty of tourists. Too many if you ask some locals. There is a coven of witches and a pack of shifter wolves too. They are the Wolfsbane Pack, and they run an investigation firm with the same name. In this 5 books in1, each has a story and they are Not cookie cutter. Add witches, crooked real estate, fires, very creative things happen in Pine Valley.
Took a chance on this book as was on kindle unlimited and I'm so glad I did! I loved the fact that each story lead smoothly to the next, the characters were great and the storylines worked. There were even parts in each book that had me laughing out loud because of the way it was written.....think I'm going to be a fan of Clara's!!
This is one of the best shifter series box sets I have read. A thread of interlocking investigations crosses the five books. The romances are different and we'll written. They don't feel forced into the storyline. I had a hard time putting the book down to get some sleep- it's that good. I hope the author has more books as this was outstanding!
Mean girls and Pine Valley, CO. The first three books are a YA/NA hot mess. But book four is different, it's very good, possibly the best in the boxed set. Then book five wraps it all up and gives it a fairytale ending. Overall it's a good read and it kept my attention until the end
It didn’t take me long to get sucked right into this collection. Very cleverly put together with the stories overlapping and the storyline continuing right until the final page. I must admit I did skim over some of the relationship drama but that was just a mood thing. Loved the layers of paranormal with the mix of crime and romance.
I have this book 5 stars because along the way you get so engrossed in the story it's almost like you're part of it.Honestly believe that there is more to our would than we realize. Wolfsburg Investigations is honestly one of the best shifter books I've read.Thank you Clara.Really good read.
This is an excellent series of stories. They are about the Ames brothers, wolf shifters, living in the town of Pine Valley, Colorado. There are some very mysterious events happening in town. Plus, each brother is about to discover his mate. Magic is happening in the town, and magic. It is up to the brothers and their mates to figure out how to save the town.
All in all a really good series. There were a few places in the last two books that lacked cohesion, but everything pulled together by the end of the book. Each book is about a pack brother finding his mate. There is crime, adventure, kidnapping, wolves and dogs, Magic and happy endings. A great read.
Each of these books had great storylines and kept my interest all the way through. Each of them also advanced the overall background story and brought the surprising conclusion to a very satisfactory ending by the final book!! I couldn't wait to read the next one when I finished one. Great writing!!
I really liked the brotherhood between the members of the pack. Each one was different and had his own personality but they all worked together and respected those differences in the end. I also liked how the women befriended each other as the series grew.
Each and everyone of these stories kept me glued till the end. The shifters were gloriously sexy, adventurous and completely enjoyable. Their mates strong, and never giving up. Loved every page.
I love this book.I think that the author wrote this book you was there. There was action, romance, and comedy all in this book and she was an incredible writer.
I think I was prolly 15-16 chapters in before the first book got really good. But once that first book picks, it's awesome!!! Loved each and every book!!
I loved this book! It kept me reading, couldn't put it down. It is not like the other shifter books, not a lot of explicit. Sexual activity , had a very awsome storyline from end to end...very believable wolves and witches, psychic powers, etc !
Took a lot of will to finish it Was about to give 1 star but gave 2 stars because of the ultimate end The entire series need editing, specifically when they describe the wolf's colour because the colour each wolf keep changing its really confusing
Definitely a thrill to read these stories. So much so that I lost a lot of sleep in the process of reading them. I will definitely read more from this author.
Very enjoyable I read the four books over about a week and couldn’t wait for work to be done so I could snuggle down with the stories again. Well worth the time. I hope there’s more to come . Thank you
Great read. Strong characters with a interesting story line set around a small ski village with a lycan pack and a coven of unexperienced witches causing trouble not to mention humans intent on disruption. Not to be missed.
Such a great series. Normally prefer standalone books for the sake of being able to finish one and be content but there was something about Wolfsbane....once started I didn’t want to stop. It had twists, surprises, and gave a great HEA
Really 2.5 stars. I had a hard time with the insta love aspect of the stories. I was more interested with the story weaved through all 5 books. I really didn’t like any of the characters. 😕 I really tried to love this book as much as I loved Pine Hollow Security.
