Very illustrative through the use of examples from different countries (US, Germany, Denmark, and moments in time. Also throws some light Brexit and MAGA, undercovering the mechanisms that cause groups to lose trust in media and gubernamental institutions, rather than pointing fingers at a demography. The focus is well kept on media and democracy and their relation to facts.

All in all, the books stars with a theoretic part on journalism principles and the evolution of medio for-knowledge to for-profit models that threaten those principles, moves along to explain the relationship of truth and media to politicians and how media has become polarized and sums everything up very well with warning on the power of narratives to create realities, cause financial crises and implant paranoia and skewed views of the world on those who have lost trust on facts and a warning from Hannah Arendt's "Origins of Totalitaniarism."

A very broad and basic introduction to the era of alternative facts. It manages to cover a lot in its breadth, but only in a quite simple way. Would recommend if you're looking for a quick, easy introduction to the concepts of propaganda, alternative facts, and disinformation. Mostly about Trump's first presidency, but also covers a lot of examples from Europe.
