I’ve had the most amazing night of my life — with a complete stranger. Solving a riddle led me on an adventure I never could have imagined, only to be left in handcuffs next to the last person I ever expected to see. Prince Sage Stevinson.

I’m considered one of the lucky ones. One of only four women who are in line to marry the Prince of Canterbury due to some antiquated law that should have been updated five hundred years ago.

Every stand-up-straight, hold your chin up, place your hand in your lap while you eat, and suck in your stomach directive, was all to bring me to this moment. Even my name, Everly, represents my happily ever after.

But my happily ever after does not include marrying the Prince. I want to make a difference in this world and living the fake, pretentious life of the royal family is far from my dream.

If Prince Sage wants me to be his Queen, he’ll have to prove he’s more than just one outrageous night.

"I wanna be the change.
We can all be kings and queens
If we can just learn to believe
If we can just learn to believe."

Fly on the Way by Thousand Foot Krutch.

I'm not going to say I loved Sage and Everly's relationship from the get-go because that would be a lie. And I don't lie. But what I'm going to tell you is how much I ended up loving them at the end of their journey. How wrong I was to think they were not perfect for each other. How wrong I was to think their relationship was rushed. Because with every turn of the pages, they showed me how perfect they were together. Sage was born to lead a country with Everly by his side.

And is not that the beauty of books? How the authors have the ability to change your mind with her words?

From concerts to sex clubs to the Air Force. Lauren Runow has taken me to different journeys with every book she has written. But it's this royal journey, the one that consolidates her as one of my favorite authors.

Sparks Fly is far more than a royal romance. This story is passion, it's pure inspiration. I was there, as a commoner, cheering up for them, feeling everything they were feeling. Wanting to be a part of the change. If my town was a Monarchy and I had the chance to chose a King, it would definitely be Prince Sage Stevinson. Because #ImWithSage

What started out as just a tradition, ended up being the change of a country. A passionate love story that will bring out all the inspirational feelings.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good royal romance with emotions and so much heart. So if you're looking for that, look no further. Lauren Runow will give you that and more ♥.

Are you ready to be the change?

"Nothing is what you think. You have to find the truth in everything. At the end, is where we will begin."

Sparks Fly is my first book by Lauren Runow and I truly wonder why... I can't believe I haven't picked up any of her books before. This book truly makes sparks fly!

"Tingles fly down my body at the sound of his voice, but when I see him they feel more like explosions."

Sparks Fly is a page turner par excellence and totally movie worthy! I just found my new favorite royal couple! Everly and Sage just click. Fate had a wicked way of throwing their lives together and they suddenly find themselves in a whirlwind of a love-story. I just couldn't get enough of them and I really hope, we get a second book!

"The smile she turns to give me melts more than my heart; it melts my soul."

Everly is, well ... she just is. So content with herself, her dreams and what she wants out of live. She's not afraid to stand up for herself and what she believes in. And I'm amazed how blindly she trusts Sage right away. And he never proves her wrong.

"This fight is worth it because at the end is where we begin."

Sage is amazing. I have no other words for him. The way he courts Everly is simply swoon worthy. He's determined to marry the girl of his dreams that just entered his reality. He goes up and beyond to make his dream come true and isn't afraid of consequences. Like Everly he knows exactly what he wants out of live and doesn't shy any challenges.
I believe our real world need more men or in this case princes like Sage.

"The man I never wanted who's now the man that will give me more than I ever need."

Sparks Fly has everything a romance readers heart longs for. I just couldn't put it down and my heart was right along Everly and Sage's journey.

Oh, and Lauren, if you have time by chance, could you write a book for Joey and Logan as well? <3

A very different tale than I'm used to reading from Ms. Runow... but not an unpleasant one! I had to kind of reorient myself though, because Sparks Fly was a much lighter read than this author's previous works. An entertaining twist on the more modern royal "fairy tales" that seem to be sweeping the market right now. As always when you pick up a book written by Ms. Runow, you're guaranteed a story that is well-written and characters that have that chutzpah that give them a certain believability factor. You know what I mean? I'd want to go and grab a beer with these people... well, you know, as much as you can with a Prince and Princess...haha!

I love when I can connect musically with my books, so the tie-ins of song titles were like manna from heaven for me! And this is a consistent that I can always count on with Lauren, she always makes sure I get my musical fix in her stories, and I do so enjoy that.

No spoilers... sorry, not the way I roll. Read the blurb... trust your author. Enjoy your reading experience! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book in advance of the release. 3.75 "Sparks Fly"-ing stars.

I have to first say that I love when I read Lauren's work, she never writes in one genre. One book will be hot and steamy and then the next one, sweet and loving. And I love that about Lauren. She writes what comes to her and she does it so well. ok - onto the story at hand.

Sparks Fly is one of Lauren's more sweet and loving reads. But this story is so much more than that. Not only do I love this story as a romance. But I love the important meaning behind the story - helping others for the greater good. I cried in this book because of the humanitarian efforts mentioned. The selflessness of these characters is inspiring. Yes, they are fictional people but damn that make you want to get up and do something.

Sage is set to be the next King and he must choose his wife by his 25th birthday. There are certain rules an criteria that he must follow in choosing his bride to be. However, for the last few years of his life, he has been hidden away from the limelight and living his life his way. He does not agree with a lot of the traditions that he must follow and his marriage is just another aspect he does not like.

Everly is one of the four women Sage's father has approved of as a suitable woman to become Sage's future wife and Queen of Canterbury. However, she unlike the other three, wants nothing to do with marrying the young prince. She wants to follow her dreams and marry a man she loves, not just for the prestige and wealth.

"Nothing is what you think. You have to find the truth in everything. At the end, is where we will begin."

This quote explains this book perfectly. I love how Lauren played Sage and Everly's story out. It may be a whirlwind romance, but it's not short of it's suspense and turns. And as I said earlier, the selflessness of these two was so appeasing, it just made the story sweeter.

A light, enjoyable and sweet read from Lauren that I would recommend to anyone.

"Love always prevails. This fight isn't over."

Well, royal wedding season is upon us, and as we eagerly await the pomp and pageantry of the real thing, it was fun to lose ourselves in the make believe royal romance of Prince Sage Stevinson of Canterbury, a small principality he will one day rule, but first he needs to find a wife by his 25th birthday and time is running out. Not just any wife, the future Queen of Canterbury must come from the 'right' bloodlines and so the quest begins to find a suitable lady for the Prince. Sage's parents have an idea of who that might be, but Sage's heart is elsewhere and firmly fixed on the passionate, no nonsense Everly Stanley, a girl he's admired from afar and who has walked into his heart.

'I never wanted someone to know the real me more than I want her to right now. Not because I have to. But because I want to.'

Sometimes you just need an easy, sweet read - something to lose yourself in and Sage and Everly's story fit the bill. Yes it was a little cheesy and insta, but that's the fun of it. The bachelor Prince who falls for the headstrong girl who, much to Sage's delight, doesn't have 'royal' stars in her eyes.
Sage is determined to prove to Everly he isn't the irresponsible playboy prince the tabloids make him out to be, instead he woos her, showing her the caring, compassionate and loyal man he is. Prince Sage has a vision, he wants to be hands on, a Prince of the people, and he wants Everly by his side to accomplish his dreams.

"…..don't you understand? You're here because my dream girl walked into my reality the other day, and I want to actually get to know her. Not for them. Not for this absurd expectation. For me."

Together these two are a force to be reckoned with and you know, with Everly by his side, there is no end to the positive changes they could bring to Canterbury, but first they have to work on King William and Queen Kathryn accepting Sage's choice of bride, and that's not going to be easy.

"Change begins with us."
"Yes. Change definitely begins with us…"

Sparks Fly is like one of those Hallmark movies you curl up with a hot cocoa and a warm blanket and lose yourself in the romance of it all.

Four Stars

Loved the premise of this book. A Crown Prince and four women vying to be his wife. Well, actually that's not true. One of the four really did not want the role. All Everly wanted was to please her mother by showing up to the "interview." Her mom sacrificed so much for Everly and this is the least she could do. However, it doesn't stop her from being herself. No matter how hard she tries, it's obvious she doesn't give a rats ass if she's the next Queen or not. She wants love and nothing short of that will do. When Prince Sage saw Everly the first time, familiarity hit him. Was she the woman he saw from afar and have dreamt of? Has his luck changed?

I was fully immersed in this story though there were some parts that were a little OTT, but in no way did it take away from their story. Sage was incredible and fought tooth and nail with his disapproving father. He really fell for Everly and nothing was going to get in the way of their happiness.

Another book I wanted to like but clearly wasn't meant for me. I wasn't ok with a few things, but I wanted to get through to the end after reading other reviews. However, I finally reached a point where I thought "this isn't ok" and had to admit defeat. Here's what led to my decision...

1. The prince is a from a country called Canterbury. Every time this was brought up, I was jarred, since Canterbury is a real city in England. I think it would have been better to make up a completely new country name so as to avoid this (and comments from my status update from other readers support this suggestion).

2. Sage's mom seemed really weak, and his dad was just rude and controlling. I know this isn't a big issue and can work, but they seemed a bit two-dimensional, like they had to play the role for Sage to have something serious to rebel against. It didn't read naturally.

3. Everly is "not like other girls", of course. She's Different because she has Real Interests and Ambitions and doesn't just want to be with Sage because he's a prince! Sigh.

4. Sage thought it was ok to send his friend to follow Everly around. He also thought it was ok to lead another woman on just so he could maintain a show before surprising Everly.

5. But then, so that he didn't have to feel guilty about leading the other woman on, she turns out to be a piece of work, saying he has no choice to marry her and that he just has to deal with it and put on a show for the cameras. Of course she needs to be nasty to contrast with Not Like Other Girls Everly.

6. Finally, Everly received a text from an unknown number, asking her to play a game. I'm sorry, but has she not watched any of the Saw movies?! And then she got a riddle that she interpreted as an instruction to go to a club. She talked to her friend on the phone, who asked if Everly wanted someone to go with her, and she said no. GIRL, ARE YOU INSANE??????? You’re going to go to a dark club on your own at the instruction of a stranger?! That's just dangerous and appalling.

That was the final straw for me. I realised I wasn't going to enjoy this story when I was either rolling my eyes or just dumbfounded at how unbelievable it all was.

It really is a shame since that cover model has such nice eyes, eh?

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sparks Fly captured me as soon as I read the first few sentences. I haven’t been so gitty reading a story like this in a while and I read a lot. #imforSage all the way and just swooning over this man from beginning to the very end. Everly and her personality is priceless, she will speak her mind and not feel guilty about it. Sage is so much more of a man then what the King wants to portray him as and it goes to show you that you need to stand your ground and fight for what you want in your heart of hearts otherwise what’s the point. I’ve read all of this authors work to date and I must say that THIS story is my favorite one yet. Once I started I couldn’t and didn’t want to put my kindle down. There was laughter, love and even tears shed as I consumed this beautifully written story. You not only need to add this to your TBR list but bump it straight to he too as your next read. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Sparks Fly is a royal romance with a twist!!! Set in a modern-day kingdom, the story is a contemporary romance with an old school flair. Everly is the anti-Princess with a heart of gold and a no-nonsense approach to the royal courting process her mother has bestowed on her. Sage is the bad-boy Prince who has to choose a bride. There is a night of mystery, an epic love story, ULTRA HOT LOVES SCENES and drama that will keep you turning the pages!!!

I love fairy-tale romances! I'm obsessed with "The Crown" and love watching anything about the Royal family. Lauren Runow has created a beautiful, fun royal romance with a ton of feels and a couple twists that I didn't see coming.

Prince Sage is being pressured from his father to marry from a list of 4 approved ladies and Sage finds one special lady on that list that doesn't want anything to do with him. Everly might have a royal bloodline but there is nothing royal about her lifestyle or upbringing and the last thing she wants to do is get stuck in an arranged loveless marriage so when it seems like the Royal family has moved on she's ecstatic. Until Everly receives a couple of unknown caller text messages that have her jumping through hoops to find out who they are from.

Eek! This story gripped me from the first chapter and didn't let me go till the final page. I loved this light and fun romance with a twist and who doesn't dream of being a princess at some point. I adored these characters together and cheered for them throughout the story. Love conquers all. 5 "Fireworks" stars for Sparks Fly by Lauren Runow

Another first for me! A book by the wonderful Lauren Runow. Why the heck haven’t I read this author before??? Shame on me!
I thoroughly enjoyed this read about Prince Sage that must marry, and Everly the unwilling bride. I don’t like to give too much away in my reviews, as I believe everyone has different tastes, and therefore must produce their own opinions . But It was different from my normal office romance novels, but oh so much fun!
Can’t wait to read more from Lauren. I might have found my new favourite author xx

This story was very different to ones I have read before. It was unique and made you want to carry on turning them pages. This story is great in a way that you create your own destiny, regardless of what is expected from you. For that reason alone, I thought it was a good, gripping read.

I was super excited when I got this book from Lauren Runow as everything I have read of hers has been amazing. I devoured it in a day and was blown away as Sparks Fly may be her best yet.

This book was pure magic. It takes the typical prince and princess trope and spins it on its head, giving it depth and feeling while dragging it into the 21st century. By the end I wanted to dust off my princess jeans for a spin around the ballroom with my prince. The main characters were engaging and I especially loved Sage who was written with so much charm, integrity and sexiness that I think anyone would fall on love.

Sparks Fly was a fantastic take on the prince/princess romance and I would definitely recommend it.

First of all I decided to start this book because I thought it was a historical romance. I didn't see the cover before I bought. A friend sent me the blurb and said it looked good and even though I don't usually read synopsis before reading a book I did. And again, that's the biggest reason why I don't, because it leads to expectations. When I saw the cover I thought to myself "whyyyyy", because from the blurb it seemed like it'd be a good historical romance, but it wouldn't really make a good contemporary romance. And I was right.

I never say this in reviews, and even though I'm going to use this word, I don't mean to offend (I just can't find a more suitable word to describe the book). This book is stupid.

The plotline is so unrealistic (and even though the story is fiction, it should still feel real), the characters are annoying and the stoeyline is borderline insta-love. Which is something I hate. Icould have let go if the issue was only the insta-love. But the book doesn't really make sense either.

For example, the hero's father is a text-book villain, he is against his son in every possible way, but then he suddenly sees reason and magically becomes a fan? Pleeeeease! Also, if you're going to write a story about a royal family, it has to be believable, because it's VERY hard to believe that a royal family like that and a monarchy that was being led that way would survive in the modern world. It's insulting to my intelligence.

The writing is also lacking, just like the storyline. Unfortunately this book wasn't for me and I'm left completely uninpressed with thr author's storytelling. I doubt I'll read another book by her after this one. I can hardly give her points for effort for this book.

Speechless...

This was an incredibly enthralling story that I couldn’t put down.
Im finding that with each new release Lauren's writing just gets better and better!
Prince Sage needs to marry and he needs to meet and choose his princess to be out of 4 women of his parents choosing!
Needless to say when Everly is one of the women, its an easy choice for him. He has admired her from afar.
However she doesn’t want any part of the arranged marriage!
All is not what it seems especially in the Prince’s case! He’s decidedly different, someone that could make his country proud. He becomes so much more to me in the way he treats his future princess! The storyline is captivating and unlike anything I have read before!
Be prepared for the ride of your life! I devoured this book and would highly recommend it!

The last book from this lady that I've read left me a mess. I had my eyes so swollen and red that it looked like I had some problem. I was a mess, my heart hurt and I simply couldn't let it go. I had a few books to read after that one but I simply couldn't start anything. I didn't wanted to so I just tried to sleep and think about it. Well, after one week I was back at my own self but the void was there.
Now, I have a new book and I can't start it soon enough. The blurb was a good way to get my attention but the cover... Oh boy the cover... Dayum...
Lauren Runow is the one to blame. Her writing is simple yet powerful, full of meaning and purpose, surrounded by love, desire and so much more. Let's see what she has in store for us...
Sparks Fly is her latest release and tells the stories of Sage and Everly. Different and unique names right?
Sage is a prince and that title gives him the power to choose how to live his life right? Wrong... Following their traditions, he's supposed to choose the woman that will become his wife until his 25th birthday. Since he was a teen he had dreamed about this mysterious girl he used to see on the beach...
Everly knows what she wants and doesn't back out from a challenge. She's feisty and determined to live her life by her own standards but life has a new idea in store for her. Because of her mother she's about to meet the prince.
So good. So freaking good... This book was the breath of fresh air that I didn't knew I needed.
Superb plot, super engaging, very well written, amazing and intense story that capture my heart in a sec. The interaction between the characters started in a way that quickly turned to into a different one.
The story progressed smoothly and quickly, leaving me wanting to keep reading to find out more.
I knew that a book written by this author was going to be intense as hell but this one just stole my heart. It was a light reading that warned my soul.
Oh Lauren you rock girl. Your book just managed to stole my heart and I thank you for that. Loved every word of this new book.
What's next? Another light reading or an intense and breathtaking story?

Everly does not like the tradition of forced marriage but that doesn’t mean she can necessarily stop it. Being one of the suitable women she has to be presented to Prince Sage. Sage isn’t keen on the law himself but he is very much keen on Everly. Knowing he has to come to her as himself and not as a prince he starts a romantic adventure to show her that they maybe they do belong together and not because of tradition. Will these two young people be able to change tradition and show their country that change is good and true love is the best arrangement there can be?

“Knowing she’s up for an adventure proves I’m doing the right thing. Let the games begin.”

This was one of my favourite royal romance’s that I have read- all the right aspects of a royal romance but with young royals in the 21st century making it more relatable and just so much fun to read. Not only was it a great read; it was passionate and real and inspirational.

“I won’t settle for anything more than someone who lights my world on fire. Someone who challenges me, but allows me to be the person I am. I know that person exists somewhere. I’m willing to place my bets on him instead of throw my dream away for a life of prestige and money.”

Let’s talk about the main characters Everly and Sage. Both young individuals who have huge responsibilities and decisions on their shoulders and yet they were both so relatable in their own ways. I felt for Everly, here she was a young woman wanting to live her own life but being told she could be made to marry someone just because of transition. And yet she doesn’t let that stop her passion and desire for what she truly wants. Although Sage has the responsibility of a country he won’t let that stop him from showing Everly that she is the right person to be by his side.

“His crooked grin breaks down the last wall I was struggling to hold up. My emotions run wild as the tiny crack in the dam of my heart starts to fail, but when it completely bursts open, warmth fills my chest as instantly as water would rushing out. No matter how hard I try to fight it, I'm starting to really fall for this guy.”

I can’t really explain why I enjoyed this story so much I just did. The writing had great flow and was easy to read; the main characters were interesting and developed and you were rooting for them and yes the story had a beautiful romance; passion, love, laughter and drama but it was also inspiring to read about two young people who wanted to make a difference in the world and fight for what they believed in. One of my favourite reads in recent years and my top read of 2018 so far!

This newest story by Lauren Runow was a contemporary fairy tale. It was sometimes steamy but mostly just sweet. It was a well told story that tugged at my heartstrings.

In it we have Sage, an actual prince searching for his princess and finds her in the most unexpected place. He and Everly have to overcome huge obstacles to get to their HEA. The journey for the reader is a great one though. This perfectly balanced couple was so well suited without even realizing it.

This story also has an amazing group of friends that support Sage and Everly and that I hope to read more about in future.

The whole thing was a fantastic story that I absolutely enjoyed. I highly recommend it to contemporary romance fans who like a Prince and his desired princess-to-be doing great things while also getting into trouble and getting to know each other.

Sparks Fly is a great book to show that we can plan out our lives only to be shone what we see isn’t the only way they can become real. Everly was given an opportunity that most women would jump at, but she had her life planed and that didn’t include being linked to the Royals. She wanted to help people and from what she saw the Royal family didn’t care as much as she did. So when the opportunity comes for her to be a posable bride for Price Sage, she hopes and does all she can not to be picked. Sage on the other hand has his sights set on making Everly his and when these two are together is is a fun experience! You will love reading about the surprises, adventures, and turns this book throws at you. I was excited to read this book because I found myself turning pages and needing to know what was happening! Normally I can see how a book is going to end, but with Sparks Fly I was surprised at every turn, things that happen are not what you would expect! So strap in for an awesome read and you will get pulled into author Lauren Runows’ book world of laughs, love , and the unexpected.

The royal craze is happening with books and this seemed interesting in that the heroine was not so royal but not commoner. Plus the has to marry a approved lady spiel had me intrigued.

Prince Sage will sweep you of your feet in his own way. Very much marching to his own ways much to chagrin of his father. Next in line to the throne though he has to marry well and he has ladies lined to choose. The instant he meets Everly, he recalls her from before so and she is more than she seems which is check for him. Wanting to know her more he devises his plan to know her only that doesn't turn out well.

What ensues is Sage and Everly solidifying their relationship with odds against them. I can appreciate Sage going the extra mile with all the obstacles they faced. Shows how much he truly cares. They both are quite fun and unique ,they both believe in helping out and outreach. It's quite a whirlwind and sparks definitely flew from these two early on.

This is my first book by the author and it was a easy, fun, sweet and light read. It was a good intro to her writing. Though I hear she has other more dramatic works this one low angst and more pleasant kind of story. If you're in a royal mood this book is for you.

Sparks Fly~~~ Everly and Sage
Imagine for a moment that your life is planned out for you . A husband or wife chosen for you. Everly cannot ever think of not marrying for love and Sage will not marry someone without her own opinions and beliefs!
They are on a path set by their families but have no idea that fate had stepped in. A fun, sexy , romantic tale of finding out who you really are and choosing that special someone that you can plan a future with no matter the cost!
A wonderful journey of self discovery and love!!!!

Sparks Fly was a very different book from the others that I have read by Lauren Runow. I have read them all, so this was a different, but pleasant surprise to read. It is written as a sort of modern day fairy-tale. Once upon a time there was a Prince Sage Stevinson who was destined to be King of Canterbury. His father was King and his mother Queen. Sage was expected to take a wife before his 25th birthday Not just any wife, but one of four eligible bachelorettes with the proper bloodline. The prince was to choose from these four that his father & mother would introduce him to one at a time.

Everly Stanley (Stone Family heir) was the 3rd woman in the line of four choices. There was a questionable fact in her being qualified. Her mother had married a mere commoner and married for love. Everly's father had died and left her mother destitute. Her mother had to work hard to feed, clothe, and shelter the two of them. This is why her determined goal to have Everly marry a prince and lead a easier life then she. Her mother swears the only way she won't have to struggle through life is if she marries Prince Sage, the next king of their small island country. Everly does not want to marry the prince. Just like the Prince they choose love. Neither will settle for anything more than someone who lights their world on fire. They were both surprised that when they came together Sparks Fly!

I loved everything about this book. I loved Dave and how he went after what he wanted no matter the outcome. I can't wait to read more from this author. I'm a reader for life after this book!

The two leads in this story are simple but their lives are complex. This story explores how having status doesn’t mean you have freedom. That even the rich have stipulations.

The whole thing is written really well and you get great glimpses into the lives of their friends too. The anxiety you feel when you aren’t sure what obstacles will be thrown at them next keeps you reading until the end. The problems they face aren’t the usual you see in contemporary books and I enjoyed the intrigue that brought. I was angry at the royal family and the vultures that are paparazzi. I felt sad that they couldn’t have time to explore their relationship like ‘commoners’ but loved that they tried to strive for better.

Overall a great read. I think I still felt like there was something missing when I got to the end of the book. I wanted something more, maybe more angst or more from their friends. Despite that, this was still a 4 star read for me.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure about this one going in, but it’s Lauren Runow and she has wowed me every single time with her stories. She also surprises me ever time as well. She likes to keep her readers on their toes, so basically you never know what you’re going to get when you start reading that first page.

This book was unlike anything I’ve read by this author, but that is most definitely not a bad thing. Everyone needs variety in their library. Instead of the angst, heartbreak, and scorching sex scenes she normally pens to her pages, she wrote this light, refreshing, romantic modern fairytale. I was pleasantly surprised. But it wasn’t just filler fluff either, it was deep and meaningful.

And who doesn’t love a good Royal Romance? I know I do.

I think this might be my favourite Lauren Runow book. Sage and Everly's story was so sweet, but also a very much needed story in this day and age in my opinion. Not everyone is what they seem and that is very true of both Sage and Everly and the legacy they want to leave on their community. "Be the change that you wish to see in the world" is a good way for all of us to live.
This story was so well written and the characters so relatable as they both just want to make positives changes and impacts in the world I think we can all learn something from this book and the characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
