For this sweet bookstore owner, avoiding the charms of a famed-football-player-turned-author was supposed to be easy... Funny, sinfully sexy, opposite-attracts romance.
In SWEET, SEXY HEART... Amber Montgomery is perfectly happy with her quiet life. She loves running her bookstore, taking long walks with Reno, her Labrador retriever seizure-response dog, and spending time with her close-knit family. She’s never needed thrills the way some of her sisters have. In an effort to control her epilepsy, she tries to avoid anything that creates too much excitement or stress—including relationships. When Amber hosts a book signing for famed-athlete-turned-author Dash Pennington, he’s everything she’s spent her life avoiding: loud, aggressive, and far too handsome, as proven by the hordes of women who surround him everywhere he goes. Amber can’t ignore the sparks flying between her and Dash, but this is a no-brainer for her: Ignore their chemistry and hold her breath until he leaves town.
Dash Pennington has spent his life running. Running the ball in for a touchdown, running from town to town to appease his public relations reps, and for years, running into the arms of too many women to count. He’s also an expert at protecting—his reputation, his family, and lately, his sanity. But he’s ready to make a change. When he comes to the sleepy little town of Oak Falls, Virginia, and witnesses the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen living the life he craves, she refuses to have anything to do with him. But now that Dash has found the one thing he doesn’t want to run from, he’ll stop at nothing to win her over.

"What sets Melissa Foster apart are her compelling characters who you care about... desperately...I dare you to read the first chapter and not be hooked." International bestseller, M.J. Rose
"Melissa Foster is a wonderful connector of readers and books, a friend of authors, and a tireless advocate for women. She is the real deal"--Author Jennie Shortridge
“Have you seen the way you look at me? Baby, we were made for each other.” Melissa Foster is in a league of her own when it comes to inspiring, heartfelt, sexy romance that gives you all the feels.
This book should come with a couple of warning labels, namely "Readers will be prone to swooning hard over the hero", "Even the non-believers will start believing real, true love really is possible" and “Beware: you’ll wish you were the heroine”. You have been warned!
“Be less you, so I don’t want you as much.” Dash really is swoony and romantic. I mean, he can't help it, that's just who he is. The former-football-player-turned-writer who comes to Oak Falls for a book signing and ends up seeing the most beautiful woman there. He knows she's different, and he knows he wants to get closer. And he literally romances her. I mean, this guy... I can't even. The grumpy, closed-off ones may be my favorites, but if I ever come across a guy like this in real life, I'm never letting him go.
"When I saw you across the barn at the jam session, you outshined everyone.” Amber is such an incredible heroine. She lives and owns a bookstore in her hometown. She has the most amazing friends and family (it wouldn't be a Melissa Foster book without those now, would it?), and she hasn't allowed herself to experience so many things, even love because she has a health condition and she needs to be in control. She can't afford to lose it.
“Why are you sad?” “I’m not. I’m happy. You’ve seen all of me, and you’re still here." I can't really help but feel closer to Amber than I felt to any of the heroines in Melissa's books so far. You see, she missed out on a lot of the stuff teenagers do because of her epilepsy. She never thought she'd experience real love because of it, because who would want her when there's so many girls out there? As someone with two chronic diseases who’s been through similar things, I can relate. It really is hard. And it made me like her even more.
“Look at you, making all my teenage dreams come true.” “Maybe you can make one of my adult fantasies come true.” The instant connection between them really is something. Amber tries to resist everything about Dash. She tries to focus on the fact that he is possibly a player, and that she’s just one more woman, and that he’s only passing through town. It's so cute to see how he shatters all her defenses, one by one, and how they communicate. How open they are with each other, especially since they're both people for whom trust doesn't come easy.
“I want to light up the sky for her," What won me over were the small gestures of affection. The letters. The acorns. The stars. The just-being-there. The experiences they’d never had and shared with each other. The way Dash acted when Amber had a seizure, how he made her feel safe, reassured and protected.
And look, it also wouldn't be a Melissa Foster book without the steamy scenes. Yep, definitely. These two are sizzling.
"He pictured her fifty years from now, with gray hair, her face mapped with wrinkles, still outshining everyone else. He knew he’d be even more captivated by her, because their home would be full of acorns and scrawled sentiments, and their hearts would be full of a lifetime of loving memories." I can't help but feel there's a message in this book and I hope people get it. Sweet, Sexy Heart really is about love. About the fact that when you’re in love it doesn’t matter if you have a health condition. You can work through anything because people who love you will always be there for you. What matters is what's inside, and that's what people fall in love with.
This book tugged at my heartstrings and made its home inside my heart.
This book is full of sweetness goodness. Just like the title. Miss Foster proofs herself again that she can write many range of romance book.
Dash and Amber are sweet and cute together. The story is min drama. It is small town romance with a recluse heroine. Dash being handsome and so charming. I like reading his POV.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Sweet, Sexy Heart, as the name suggests, was sweet, sexy and full of heart. In her note to readers, Foster stated that Dash Pennington may yet be her most swoon worthy hero and I definitely have to agree with her. I will even go further and say Sweet, Sexy Heart may be one of the best books I have for the year. I had fun returning to Oak Falls.
Amber intrigued me from the moment of her introduction in the series. She is a sweetheart, kind and loved by all she came in contact with. However, having to deal with epilepsy led to her placing limitations on her life. Spontaneity did not feature in her world. To keep the seizures in check, she had to avoid overly stressful situations and keep her emotions under control. Although she finds pleasure in operating her own bookstore and spending time with her family and service dog, she dreams of one day finding the man of her dreams; someone who like her lived a sedate life. Enters Dash Pennington, however, he was unlike anyone she was looking for.
Dash a retired football player turned motivational speaker and author, is looking to promote his book in several bookstores throughout the country. Amber’s bookstore would be his first stop. Falling in love was the furthest thing from Dash’s mind. However, when he laid eyes on Amber, he knew he found his everlasting love. If only he could convince her they were meant for each other.
When Dash was first introduced, he exuded an arrogant vibe. However, as his layers started peeling away, what came to light was a confident man who was all heart. He knew what he wanted and had no qualms about pursuing his goals and with Amber; he pulled out all the stops. For someone who claimed to know nothing about romance, he had it oozing from his pores. The defining moment for me was his reaction when she had a seizure. I loved him before, but at this point I fell in love with him all over again. That moment had me reaching for tissues.
Dash and Amber shared sweet moments, but their intimate times burned up the pages. At one point thought Amber would have developed a seizure during this time. Thank goodness that was not the case.
I enjoyed the camaraderie between the characters. It was a treat to see how protective everyone was towards Amber, but what I most was watching her out of her shell and embracing all the things she missed out on while growing up.
Conclusion/Recommendation
To conclude Sweet Sexy, Heart is a beautiful, heartwarming story of unconditional love. Fans of steamy romance set in a small town will love this latest offering from the queen of sexy and heartwarming stories. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
This book is just SOOOOO FREAKIN ROMANTIC 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️ FROM THE BEGINNING TILL THE END IT’S SOOO FREAKIN ROMANTIC I AM NOT KIDDING!!!!!
I was so impressed with Amber and Dash story from sable’s book which is amber’s sister that got me really go for they’re story 😍😍😍 I’M GLAD I DID BECAUSE IT WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER…. THE ROMANCE AND THE CHARACTERS ARE SO FREAKIN AMAZING!!!!! It’s like watching a great movie 🥺🥺
Even from the beginning the hero is just so freakin wonderful to the heroine…. HE ALWAYS COMPLEMENTS HER ALL THE FREAKIN TIME AND EVEN IN FRONT OF EVERYONE ❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you want to read a great romance with a hero that so dotted to the heroine SINCE THE FIRST TIME HE SAW HER and just obsessed with her since the beginning, READ THIS!!!!!! IT IS SOOO SAFE!!!! EVEN THEY’RE PAST IS SAFE AND EVERYBODY AROUND THEM IS SAFE LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS SOOO SAFE. YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINT 😍😍 Read this after you read a bad book cause it will definitely made you smile 👻
The hero is used to be a famous football player and currently a famous author with a bestselling book. It start with the hero is in a small town to debut his book signing in a couple of weeks… He has to meet a certain bookstore owner to ask her to host… The hero and his best friend who lives in the small town is now in a old barn that has little festival going on. And the hero wants to go there so he can see and talk to the bookstore owner about the book signing… When he finally meet the bookstore owner who is the heroine herself, oh damn… The hero finally set his eyes and never wants to let her go🥺❤️ “but he found her utterly captivating. He wanted to know who she was and what her voice sounded like. Was it as sweet as she looked? Was she? It had been a long damn time since he’d actually been drawn to a woman enough to want to know more about her.”
❤️❤️
This book is really something special❤️ It’s exciting, romantic, emotional, intense, deep, heartwarming, peaceful, dreamy and sweet ❤️❤️❤️
So many positivity here 😆
“You’re more beautiful than any woman I’ve ever met, and it’s not only physical beauty that makes you shine, which is why your beauty is so rare. It’s what’s inside that makes you glow. The things that can’t be faked or made better with makeup or fancy clothes. You possess them in droves.”
Oh my.
‼️‼️‼️TRIGGERS: The heroine have a medical condition called epilepsy. She has two seizures and both are safe and she was okay. They did talked about it but it was also knowledgeable for me because i never have someone who have that so to read it, it makes me know more about it and knows what to do with it if someone in the future has it. And the hero here is also so sweet about it, he didn’t pity the heroine but he sure is more protective to her about it… Another trigger is ALCOHOL, little violence, hospital, fainting and PTSD.
‼️‼️‼️SAFE ROMANTIC SWEET LOVE STORY…
safe all the way 🔥
‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING.
‼️‼️‼️NO SEPARATION
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS OVER THE TOP POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE AUTHOR MILLIONAIRE ALPHA MALE.
THE HERO IS NOT A MANWHOR3!!!!!
“I’m not used to waking up with women. I’ve never been into slumber parties. That’s not to say I’ve been a saint, but I’ve been careful with my reputation. I wouldn’t want my mom or my sisters to have to combat rumors about their womanizing son and brother.”
He mentioned that he is also not a saint but he is definitely not a manwhor3. Since he is the oldest to his siblings and been taking care his family since he was very young, it made him not become a manwhor3 he said… Also his grandparents always remind him to be better and treat woman the best so it stuck to him. I’m so happy when he is so honest to the heroine about it ❤️🥺 The hero’s personality is so freakin amazing guy ever… He is very caring, giving, wise and good guy. Even though he had a sad past about his family but it made him become better… HE IS THE BEST!!!!
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE… Everybody in her small town knows she’s very sweet loving introverted girl. And very beautiful… The heroine’s personality is also sweet, but sometimes she can get nervous at first with the hero but that didn’t last long cause the hero made her so comfortable… The heroine can be insecure sometimes but not many times. The heroine have a great relationship with her family members and her parents and everybody in town actually like all of them adore her… The heroine doesn’t party like her old sisters and likes to keep it to herself mostly. She always likes to have breakfast and dinner with her family every week which is so sweet to see that😍
Nothing bad to say about the characters because both of them are so freakin amazing!
‼️‼️‼️THEY DID TALKED ABOUT THE PAST like they’re past relationship but only once.
‼️‼️‼️NOOOO PAST PARTNER OR FVCK BUDDY EVER SHOWS UP FROM BOTH OF THEM…
‼️‼️‼️NO STRIP CLUB AND NOOOO MEAN FRIENDS.
‼️‼️‼️MANY FUNNY SCENES 😆😆😆
‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS.
But both are celibate and always safe.
‼️‼️‼️LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.
Not only he was looking for her when he first saw her, but he even talked to her parents about her and GOES TO HER PARENTS HOUSE THE NEXT DAY SO HE CAN SEE THE HEROINE!!!! LIKE WHAT A BEAUTIFUL EFFORT ❤️ He even played with her niece and already made a great first impression 🥺 “my only dirty little secret is that I accepted this breakfast invitation with the hopes of seeing Amber again.” He said that out loud to the heroine’s family! Even when after that the hero asked the heroine for a date, she said no but he didn’t stop there. He said okay AND HE KEPT ON ASKING HER TO GO OUT WITH HIM MANY TIMES EVEN WHEN SHE SAID NO. HE KEEP SHOWING UP TO HER AND ASK HER 😭😭😭 HE NEVER EVEN MAD AT HER WHEN SHE SAID NO TO HIM🥹
SOOO FREAKIN ROMANTIC!
The heroine said no many times to him because she thought he wasn’t serious about her… And she didn’t do one night stands. She thought he wanted only pleasure from her cause how famous he is. She was scared at first.
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS SOOOOOO OBSESSED WITH THE HEROINE SINCE THE BEGINNING Y’ALL.
The things that the heroine did with anyone before, the hero ask and the hero immediately make it a mission to do it all for her ❤️❤️❤️ HE EVEN HAVE HER ON THE BLEACHERS CAUSE HE WANTS HER TO HAVE EXPERIENCE OF MAKING OUT THERE 🥺 SO MANY DATE SCENES OF THEM HAVING A QUALITY TIME TOGETHER WHICH IS SOO ROMANTIC!!! HE EVEN ARRANGED A CHARIOT DATE FOR HER🥺🥺❤️❤️
I literally lost count on how many times the hero really say many great things to the heroine. LOST COUNT!!! Cause that’s how many it is ❤️❤️❤️ How beautiful she is and everything, always so romantic and so cute 🥺💖 He never bother about the heroine’s condition and her family in a small city and she always with her family around her… He literally accept all of that and even loves that for the heroine 🥺 🥺 He even drove to her small town every single time he is not busy and done with travel for work, like he always make sure to immediately be with her 🥺
“But I’m drawn to her in a way I’ve never been to anyone before. The whole time we were on the field today, all I could think about was getting cleaned up and going to see her. I haven’t ever wanted to see a woman more than I’ve wanted to be on the field.”
“You have done something to me, Amber. You brought out a protectiveness I’ve only ever felt toward family. The idea of anyone gossiping about you made me crazy, and you’re right, I probably did scare the ladies this morning. But that wasn’t my intent, and I sure as hell didn’t ask them not to talk about us to protect my reputation. I wanted to be sure you were respected and that you didn’t have to deal with any gossip while I was gone.”
“I’m at the top of my game in every way these days, and that’s because of you, sweetheart. You make me want to be the best man I can be, more like my old self. You should have seen me at my speaking gig yesterday. I nailed it.”
“Because seeing you happy for someone else is ten times as beautiful as anything I’ve ever seen. I love when you get dreamy-eyed, like you were when your friends got engaged at the barn. Getting to see that look twice in two weeks? That’s beyond beautiful.”
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO NEVER PUSH THE HEROINE AWAY… ONLY THE HEROINE THAT PUSH THE HERO AWAY…
BUT NOT TOO MANY AND NOT TOO ANNOYING…
BUT EVERY SINGLE TIME SHE DID THAT, HE NEVER EVER GET MAD AT HER… He always came back and ask her again and again and even bring her flowers when she said no 😆😆😆 even when people in the small city knows that the hero got push away from the heroine and some woman tries to flirt with him, HE ALWAYS PUSH THEM AWAY AND ONLY WANTS THE HEROINE…. THE EFFORT OF THIS MAN IS SO AMAZING Y’ALL 🥺
“They’re nice, but they’re not you. You’re different, Amber, and I don’t mean because you have epilepsy. I mean it in a broader sense, in the very best way. When I saw you across the barn at the jam session, you outshined everyone.”
“Okay. Friends it is. But you’re wrong about not standing out. You’re more beautiful than any woman I’ve ever met, and it’s not only physical beauty that makes you shine, which is why your beauty is so rare. It’s what’s inside that makes you glow. The things that can’t be faked or made better with makeup or fancy clothes. You possess them in droves.”
“I’m not looking for anything in return, or expecting you to invite me in, but I’d never forgive myself if something happened to you on the way home and I wasn’t there to help.”
‼️‼️‼️VERY HOT S3X SCENES FOR SURE AND THE FOREPLAY YESSS ❤️❤️❤️❤️ NOT ONLY IT’S HOT BUT IT’S MORE ROMANTIC 🥺🥺🥺🥺
“Sweetheart, you don’t need to hide your gorgeous body. I know every inch of it intimately.”
“And there’s no place I’d rather be than lying in your bed with you safe in my arms.”
“He was going to die right there, buried deep inside her, and he didn’t care, because nothing had ever felt so exquisite.”
‼️‼️‼️NOT MANY JEALOUS SCENE from both. Only little from the hero tho…
“Do you really think I’d ask you to fool around out here? The last thing I want is other guys checking out your naked body. I was with you when you got dressed this morning, remember?”
‼️‼️‼️NOOO EX BOYFRIEND OR EX GIRLFRIEND OR EX FVCK BUDDY SCENE HERE.
‼️‼️‼️NOOO STRIPCLUB
‼️‼️‼️NO MEAN FRIENDS
‼️‼️‼️NO BULLYING
‼️‼️‼️THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THEM IS VERY BEAUTIFULLY ROMANTIC ❤️❤️❤️❤️
“He didn’t even feel like the same man he’d been on Tuesday. In the days since, Amber had become an even bigger part of him. Their relationship had evolved, becoming more important than everything else.”
‼️‼️‼️NO DRAMA WITH OW AND OM… Many of the drama is with the family and themselves but only a little dra tho… Like i said, this book is more positive. So the drama is very low tho 😆
‼️‼️‼️IT HAD A SEPARATION FOR A DAY THO… And of course both are loyal and didn’t go to anyone else ever…
‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING.
Engaged 🥺🥺❤️
⚡️⚡️⚡️THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING MY REVIEW. Even if you hate my review i still say thank you so much cause you spend your time reading this one👻 I’m not a professional reviewer or professional reader. I’m just someone who likes to read novels that is safe and no cheating whatsoever. And many more that i like lol😆 I DID NOT GET PAID TO DO THIS. This is just basically me writing my review based on my personal opinion about the book if it’s safe or what I will write it all down just the way i like it 😏 I know my review can be very straightforward with the way i write it down all of it and not a professional writing because again I’m not professional reviewer anyway. And whatever negativity you might think of what i write or what my thoughts are on my review about a book, me and you are not the same person. I have my own types of book and you have your own. You have your own thoughts and same with me. You can’t control what I should write on my review and neither should I. I WILL NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT AND I WON’T EVER REPLIED TO IT. If you still don’t like what i write and my disclaimer here, IT’S A YOU PROBLEM. NOT MINE😙 HAVE A GREAT DAY❤️❤️❤️
Types of book that I’m looking for: SAFE, safe all the way from the beginning till the end🥵 No cheating, no unnecessary childish drama. Not too much OW DRAMA cause they are loud and annoying lol. NO to still having feelings about a ex especially wants go get back together tf no. NO to friends with benefits and still seeing other people type of sh*t. NO to hero or heroine who said i love you and have been obsessed but still likes to fvck around yeah big NO to that sh*t. NOOO to still married or still in a relationship with someone else while liking the main character, yeah they have to be single since the beginning. NOOO to a long separation and have someone else they have s3x with during the separation. NOO to too many times of separation and breaking up sh*t. NOO to toxic narcissistic characters. I preferred the characters are loyal to the core, over the top possessive heroes since the beginning and never stops, main characters have unique jobs or talents, the hero adores and obsessed with the heroine so much, the hero fell harder for the heroine and don’t want let her go and fight for her. And most importantly EPILOGUE AND ESPECIALLY THE DECADES LATER SCENE…. HAPPY ENDING IS A MUST. Chemistry is a must too 🙏🏼
[I received a digital arc for an honest review] Sweet, Sexy Heart is the 8th stand alone in The Braden & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak falls series. Whether you've read Melissa Foster before or new to her books, be ready for declarations of love, close families, tight friendships, and a happily ever after.
Amber Montgomery lives a quiet life with her seizure response dog Reno and the last thing she needs in her life is to get wrapped up in retired football player turned author, Dash Pennington. Dash feels a spark when he first lays eyes on Amber and pulls out all the stops to get her to give him a chance. Dash is always on the go, and the life Amber has built to hold her epilepsy seizures at bay isn't prepared for being in a relationship with him. When here seizures starts interfering with Dash's schedule, she feels like a burden while that's the furthest thing on his mind. Will she being able to trust in Dash's honesty and unwavering love in her, or will she revert to her old way of living.
I've been waiting for Amber's story. The little we got to see of her in past books made me wish for her happily ever after. She turned out to be just as kind, sweet, and lovely as I expected she would be. Amber is always doing kind and thoughtful things for those around her, and she's a hopeless romantic. Unfortunately I didn't love Dash 🙈 I wanted to, but he came of as just a bit too cheesy, a bit too charming and a little too good to be true. Many readers love that in a romance hero, but I prefer mine to be a bit more rough around the edges. Even the "faults" he had didn't feel like faults. Anyway that doesn't stop the intimate scene between them being hot as hell. Melissa Foster once again delivers quality bedroom scenes. Sweet, Sexy Heart by Melissa Foster is a very low angst, high steam romance novels. Romantic carriage rides through the park, love letters, passionate kisses , and slow dances make this a charming easy read.
Melissa Foster always delivers sweet, swoony, and heart-warming small towns stories that epitomize everything that makes romance beautiful. And Sweet, Sexy Heart is in fact just that- so full of all the sweetness, all the sexy, and so much heart.
Our heroine, bookstore owner Amber, leaves a quiet and steady lifestyle with her dog Reno, one she’s chosen to keep her epilepsy in check. So, the last thing she expects, or needs, is to find herself charmed by retired footballer turned writer, Dash Pennington, a man whose lifestyle and energy are the antithesis of the safe bubble she’s created for herself. But Dash is enamoured- and he’ll do anything to win over the sweet Amber. And woo her he does, but as she starts to fall for the charming athlete, her medical condition starts to take a toll on her and Dash’s life, and she worries that his love for her is a burden that can’t be overcome.
I just adored Amber- she’s sweet, compassionate, incredibly loving and gracious. And as someone whose own medical history as at times wreaked havoc on my lifestyle choices, I related to her so intensely. I loved her gentle soul and her romantic spirit- and I just loved her with Dash. Though, to be honest, I didn’t trust Dash at first, like Amber, I worried his love was too good to be true. He was just so authentic, so swoony, so dreamy- I just kept waiting for the shoe to drop, but it turns out he’s just a sweetie, and I loved how earnestly he loved Amber.
Their story is lower-angst- and felt like reading a sexy Hallmark movie. Romantic overtures, declarations of love, charming friends and small town magic moments. Sweet, Sexy Heart is a totally charmer- the perfect feel good romance to lift the spirits and fill your heart.
Sweet, Sexy Heart by Melissa Foster was the eighth book in the Bradens & Montgomery’s Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls series. It was also one of many in her Love in Bloom series, but could be read as a stand-alone.
I’ve taken a sabbatical from formal reviews for a while, so following are a couple quick thoughts: Dash and Amber were awesome characters. Dash was swoon worthy on all accounts and I loved his patience, dedication, devotion, romantic notions, etc etc. not what you’d expect from a former professional athlete. And I loved his interactions with his family. And Amber - what a sweet but sexy heroine. And Foster brought us a different perspective by including real life scenarios of epilepsy concerns. And of course, Ambers family and friends were front and center as well. All in all, it was an enjoyable read and great addition to the series!
Let me start off by saying Melissa Foster was correct when she said that Dash Pennington is her most swoon-worthy hero she has written yet, I agree 100%. If you love being romanced then Dash is your guy because he is the guy most girls dream about as a kid, and Amber Montgomery is the perfect woman for him.
Amber has dealt with having seizures from a young age and she know that taking things easy and keeping her emotions in check are the best way to limiting her chances of having one, it's a sad thought that she cannot be spontaneous and just do something reckless once in a while but she's content living in her cottage and running her Bookstore in Oak Falls, Virginia. She has a loving family and Reno, her service dog is always there when she needs him...what more could a girl want?
Dash has retired from pro football and is releasing a book, he needs to do a promo tour for his book but first he's looking for some downtime so he goes to visit a friend. The first time Dash sets eyes on Amber he knew there was something special about her and he was determined to get her to go on a date with him.
The chemistry was great but what really made this story is all the romantic things Dash did. You really can't help falling for a guy like him, and ladies I'll warn you now your going to expect more from your significant other after reading this book.
If you enjoy Steamy Contemporary Romances, small town romances, or large family romances this book is for you. Sweet, Sexy Heart is the 8th book in this series but each book can be read as a standalone so don't be afraid to jump in and fall in love with Dash and Amber just like I did.
What I love most about Sweet, Sexy Heart is the message hiding within the story. Foster goes out of her way to create a beautiful soul that is uniquely perfect despite the flaws she sees in herself. Amber is the manifestation of what is often forgotten. Beauty is not the outer shell, but the light that shines from within. Beyond the painful way she sees herself resides the reflection of how others see her. It takes a fresh set of eyes, an open heart and an irresistible confirmed bachelor to open her eyes to the treasure that she fails to see. Amber and Dash are my favorite because they bring into focus why being unique is truly a perfect fit.
TOUCHDOWN in the stacks, because Dash is Melissa Fosters' swooniest hero yet.
As a child of someone that has epilepsy, this book was a breath of fresh air on the matter. Not that it shied away from the severity of the disorder in true Melissa Foster fashion, you can tell the topic was greatly researched. This book touched my soul, and tugged at my heart strings.
Super Swoony, Super Sexy, and definitely a must read book. Dash is as charming as he is sweet. Amber is sweet and shy and comes out of her shell with Dash, not that he was too pushy he allowed her to make moves on her timeline, but holy cow when you get to the alert necklace scene be ready to fan yourself and laugh out loud at the same time.
I am thankful for the way the seizure scenes are written, as a reader you get to view what someone like myself with my mother, deals with when she has a seizure. They were handled with dignity and care showing the world what happens when you are watching the person you love essentially become helpless in your arms. These hit home for me and the tears definitely fell in a good way, that someone can put the words and the emotion on the page to what a person feels, both the person with epilepsy and their loved ones during a time of chaos and uncertainty.
One of my all-time favorites of Melissa's books. And the title tells you everything you need to know about this book - it's sweet, sexy, and full of heart.
Dash is a recently retired football player who is embarking on a new adventure of author and motivational speaker. The launch of his book tour brings him to Oak Falls, VA, and in touch with Amber Montgomery, the bookstore owner where he is starting his book tour. He didn't expect to feel this instant connection with Amber and his whole world to be turned upside down.
These two together were super sweet. I loved how Dash was all about Amber and how he helps to calm her fears on why they could never work. He was there for her always. And that in itself was super sexy.
I am ready for a re-read and this book will definitely go into my rotation of books to read when I am in a slump and need a good "Feel Good" read to help me through.
Amber is content with her life as she has her bookstore, her dog Reno and is surrounded by great friends and family who are always there for her no matter what. In order not to exacerbate her medical condition she thrives on the peace and tranquility her life offers so she is cautious when she draws the attention of an ex-football player who she believes she has no place for in her life.
Dash has transitioned from life as professional football player to one as a writer, but the notoriety still follows him. He is enchanted by Amber from their first meeting, but he soon realizes that she is different from any woman he has met before and convincing her they belong together will be a challenge that he is determined to win.
Amber believes that he is too good to be true and that with enough time he will grow weary of the way she has chosen to live her life while Dash is everything you could want and more as he shows her with everything he says or does that he loves her just the way she is. The narrators managed to portray both the emotions of the characters and their beautiful romance to perfection. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession
Sweet, Sexy Heart is a stand-alone contemporary romance and it is also part of The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls series.
Amber Montgomery, a bookshop owner, suffers from epilepsy, but she has it under control and leads a quiet small-town life. Dash Pennington is a high profile ex-footballer who is launching his debut novel; he’s starting his book tour at Amber’s shop, but arrives in town early to have a break from his schedule.
Amber may have a crush on Dash, but he’s not someone she would really get involved with. Dash’s bad boy footballer reputation precedes him, and he’s warned him off Amber, but the image that fans have of him aren’t the real Dash; he’s loyal and thoughtful, putting family and friends first.
It takes an acorn and a determined man to break down Amber’s barriers, but will Dash’s busy lifestyle and her stay-at-home dreams ever find a compromise?
This is a very sweet loving (and hot) romance, which tackles epilepsy in an open way without it feeling like a lecture. I enjoyed the small-town setting and how close and supportive Amber’s family are. There are secondary characters from other books for those who follow the series, or for new readers, those characters may pique their interest enough to pick up and fall in love with more of Foster’s couples.
SWEET, SEXY HEART is the eighth instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult The Bradens and Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill-Oak Falls, erotic, romance series- a spin off and companion to several of the author’s other series. This is former professional football player turner motivational speaker and author Dash Pennington, and book store owner Amber Montgomery. SWEET, SEXY HEART can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Dash and Amber) SWEET, SEXY HEART follows the quick building romance and relationship between former professional football player turner motivational speaker and author Dash Pennington, and book store owner Amber Montgomery. Dash Pennington is about to start his cross country book tour and series of speaking engagements in Oak Falls, Virginia where he will meet his future in Amber Montgomery, owner of Story Time Bookstore, but Amber has epilepsy, and in this, Amber struggles with what the future may look like. Meeting Dash Pennington stirs something deep within our story line heroine but Amber continues to battle between head and heart believing she is not worthy of a sports star such as Dash Pennington, and the possibility that her issues of health may be too much for Dash to hold on. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Dash and Amber, and the potential fall-out as Amber continues to push Dash away, in the wake of a seizure, and the start of his successful second career.
Amber Montgomery hasn’t has a seizure for several years but overworked and excited about the upcoming tour finds our heroine in a crisis of health she is sure to push our hero out of her life. Dash Pennington is the perfect man for Amber Montgomery. His refusal to walk away endears our hero to everyone in town but Amber continues to struggle with the what ifs and whys, and what the future may hold going forward.
The relationship between Amber and Dash is one of immediate attraction but Amber maintains Dash is out of her league, and his new found career will continue to pull him away from Oak Falls. As Dash starts a slow seduction of our story line heroine, Amber must reconsider her future, a future that includes the man with whom she is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Dash’s old college teammate Sinclair ‘Sin’ Vernon, and Amber’s siblings-brother Axsel, and sisters Morgyn, Brindle, Grace, Sable and Pepper, and their parents Marilyn and Cade :Dash’s mother Robin Pennington and her ‘boyfriend’ Mitch Grayson; Dash’s siblings Damon, Hawk, Dawn and Andi, as well as numerous characters from the other interconnected series.
SWEET, SEXY HEART is another story of family, friendships, relationships and love- a familiar theme throughout Melissa Foster’s stories of romance. A story of acceptance and recognition, of well being and health. The premise is thought provoking, emotional and heart warming; the characters are honest and real; the romance is provocative and uplifting.
My favorite Melissa Foster book so far! Sports guy and bookstore owner? All the YES! Dash is just the definition of swoon and Amber is so sweet, but still so strong too LOVED it!
Sweet Sexy Heart is Dash and Amber's story. I have really been looking forward to this one since reading the epilogue in Hot for Love. I absolutely loved this story. I always say that I am adding a new name to my book boyfriend list. If my favorite authors keep writing characters like Dash, I am going to just have to eventually fill an entire book. Dash was adorable in his pursuit of Amber. He was all in from day one and it was great. These two had amazing chemistry as well. I also adored Amber. Her enthusiasm for books was really fun. I always love a good bookworm! I'm not going to spoil their story. Except to say the scene before the epilogue was so wonderful. These books can be read as stand alones, so pick it up! I highly recommend this one.
“I came to Oak Falls looking for a break, and I found the truest, deepest love imaginable with you, my wild thing.”
Sweet, Sexy Heart is small-town romance PERFECTION! I am not kidding when I say that I smiled the entire way through this book. Internally, I was sobbing happy tears.
I LOVED these characters. Dash and Amber were sweet and sexy (see what I did there?). Dash has got to be one of the--if not most--swoon-worthy heroes I've had the pleasure of reading about. And Amber? I want to be her so bad! She's warm, sassy, and living my dream life. The small-town setting of Oak Falls, the big families, the dirty grandmas, the book-store, it all comes together to make this wonderful story.
The author packs some wisdom into this romantic comedy. Dash and Amber's story is about living life to the fullest and staying loyal to passion, rather than to fear and safety. It was the first time I read about a character with epilepsy. It made me think about how hard it would be to live with the unease that you could lose control at anytime and how it might feel to love someone who had to live differently and could get hurt at any moment.
Dash's toddler smile had nothing on mine while reading Sweet, Sexy Heart.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Im bawling my eyes at 12:30am, and that fine. Im fine. **insert Ross Geller’s gif** This story was beautiful. Honestly, their love was so pure and literally a match made In heaven. Have you ever seen a couple and think: they deserve each other? They connect at a different level. That’s them. Dash and Amber are perfect, which is sad that I don’t know them irl lol Dash is everything you wish a man had/was. He cared and loved with his whole heart that literally everyone could feel it. Everyone felt his love for amber, his willingness to be everything she needs without skipping a Beat, so selflessly that everyone was actually rooting for him! Amber was just scared and I loved her for that. She knew her limits, not limitations cause those are placed upon, and she learned how let someone else in. And CAN I HAVE ME SOME RENO LOVING? I swear that at this point in my life I need one!
5 Star review of Sweet, Sexy Heart (The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls #8) by Melissa Foster
This is bookstore owner Amber Montgomery and former footballer and author Dash Pennington's story and as I have come to expect from Melissa Foster the story was well written with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in. Hosting a book signing for Dash she is torn between disliking him and being attracted to him which leads to some fun and games.
I love stories set in small towns and for me Oak Falls, Virginia sounds like a wonderful town to escape too. Dash falls for Amber and is determined to win her heart, but he has an uphill battle as she is just as determined to avoid him. I loved the push and pull dynamic of their relationship and it was entertaining to watch it play out.
Sweet, Sexy Heart ticked all the boxes for me; it is a steamy, heart warming, love story. I fell for Dash, he is swoon worthy, protective and altogether a great guy and Amber is a woman I could easily call my friend.
One of the things I love the most about Melissa Foster's books is how she always manages to shine a light on important topics. In Sweet, Sexy Heart, the heroine has epilepsy. While reading, the author educates us about the illness, its symptoms, and the battles people who suffer from it and their loved ones have to fight.
Amber was such a strong, sweet woman who build a big life in a small town. At first, she didn't want to give Dash the time of day because she had a specific image of him. That made her feel so realistic, Amber let her lead by the picture the media had drawn for her. Slowly she got to know the real Dash but made him work for her attention but once she was in, she was entirely in.
Never before, a hero was swoony like Dash Pennington. The hero's we have met before don't hold a candle next to Dash Pennington. Even if I wanted to, I was unable to stop falling in love with him. Dash is perfect without being too much or fake. He is sweet, kind, considerate, attentive, supportive. He was open about his feelings and knew what he wanted in life and his relationships. Dash and Amber are perfect together. He didn't have judgments about Amber's condition. Dash educated himself and did his best to make everything as comfortable as possible. He made sure Amber lived her life to the fullest, but at a pace her health allowed. I loved the most about their relationship how they supported each other. Dash and Amber were different but had things in common that made their relationship so unique. They were also both very honest about their feelings. They communicated like adults, played no games, their relationship was real.
Before Dash, Amber didn't have much sexual experience, but she came out of her shell what made up for some pretty hot sex scènes.
Like in all Melissa Foster books, we get to catch up with old friends. Everyone is connected or knows each other in some way or form.
Sweet, Sexy Heart is a perfect small-town romance with hilarious characters, where everyone knows and cares for everyone.
Sweet, Sexy Heart is lighthearted and low on drama. There was some, but it all gets worked through very mature and fast.
This story swept me off my feet. It made my heart race with emotion and swell with love.
If you are looking for a perfect small-town romance that's low on drama but still touches some important topics, this is your book. You never go wrong with buying a book written by Melissa Foster. Her stories are everything you never knew you needed.
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Sweet, Sext Heart is the latest sweet with heat romance by the incredible Melissa Foster. This is the eighth book in The Braden and Montgomery: Pleasant Hill/ Oak Falls series, and i had been DYING to read it!
As an avid fan of Foster’s fun and flirty reads, I couldn’t wait to learn more about bookstore owner Amber Montgomery and retired football player turned author Dash Pennington, and just like I’d imagined, these two totally and utterly capture your heart.
From the moment Dash spots the understated but undeniably beautiful Amber at a party, he is unable to take his eyes off her. She is unlike the women he’s used to, and something about the way she smiles, flicks her hair and laughs at someone else’s jokes has him dying to know more. But when Dash and his friend introduce themselves, Amber is shy, panicked and less than smooth with her replies.
Amber is the perfect heroine, she is sweet, sexy but also very down to earth. She suffers from seizures and has her sidekick and assist dog Reno by her side, and has opted to live a rather quiet and understated life. Therein lies the issue, for how can she possibly keep up with the lifestyle and popularity of one Dash Pennington?
I loved this story as it felt like two unexpected people meeting each other and having that instant spark of a connection. I feel this is what Foster does best, and it completely and utterly hooks you as a reader, and you cannot help but adore the utterly charming and super romantic Dash.
Like all of Foster’s books you can expect some sizzling sexy moments, extreme loyalty and two people desperate to be with one another. Amber’s seizures prove to be an obstacle, but Dash is ever the doting boyfriend and does anything and everything within his power to find a way that works. He will not give up on her easily!
These book are truly what makes romance special, they truly capture the essence of all those first time feels and make you envious of the heroines and crave the heroes. A perfect story, to add to an already perfect collection.
I’d recommend to those who want to get stuck into a reading series with lots of fun and flirtatious characters. All of Foster’s stories centre around unique situations and all her creations have quirky faults that humanise them to you, and Amber was the character I found myself relating too, and wanting so badly for things to go her way.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the eighth book in this series, but as any fan of Melissa Foster will know, all the books are interlinked and cross over and they are so much the richer for it. We are soon caught up on all the relationships we may have momentarily forgotten, and back amongst friends again.
Amber is the most lovely of people, and she has broadened her horizons since Piper designed her alarm necklace, and her Mum trained her much loved seizure-response companion dog, Reno. She is however at the limits of the freedoms she feels comfortable with, running her bookshop and living alone, but near others. So when Dash Pennington, loud, large celebrity footballer, turned author comes to town to release his new book, she is utterly overwhelmed. He is just so different to her, and clearly never without female attention. Yet, for Dash, the only woman he has ever been interested in turns out to be Amber.
Of course, Melissa Foster weaves her magic and we get a wonderfully rich, passionate, and meaningful romance for both of them. I loved how family surrounds Amber, and both comfort her, and challenge her - not giving her the chance to ignore how she feels. Dash too, is impelled to consider what he really finds important and how he may need to temper his usual ways to make Amber his.
Another fabulous story in which to get completely immersed. and completely switch off from the real world. Perfect!
Sweet, Sexy Heart by Melissa Foster The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls #8
Opposites or soul mates? Dash Pennington is ready for a break from the whirlwind his life has become. He is taking that break with a friend in a small town before the next step back into the pressure of a book tour when he sees a woman that will change his life – Amber Montgomery. Shy, quiet, controlled, easily flustered Amber owns a bookshop and will host Dash’s debut signing of the tour. Amber wants to maintain her status quo and Dash wants her to change things up to include him in her life. How it plays out is the story within this romance novel.
What I liked: * Dash: brother, son, ex-football pro, motivational speaker, author, romantic, knows what he wants and wants Amber. * Amber: sister, daughter, bookstore owner, epileptic with grand mal seizures, warm, giving, controls her environment, smitten by Dash but also leery. * Reno: Amber’s service dog * The larger family and interactions among them – some were new to me and some I had seen and remembered from before * That the story stands alone without having to have read the previous books in the series * That it was educational providing information about epilepsy * That Amber did not fall into Dash’s arms immediately – he had to work for it * That Dash was willing to do “more” to secure Amber’s heart – and romanced her * That Amber was not as restrained as many thought she was * That Dash was not the playboy everyone assumed * That family was important to both of them * That there was give and take in the relationship and that they communicated, shared, and grew together * That both wanted the best for the other * That there was not a long of angst and drama * The small town feel of the story
What I didn’t like: * Not a dislike…just a comment…it was a bit predictable BUT in a comfortable easy fun way
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more by this author? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
I have been reading Melissa Foster romances for a long time and whenever I think she can’t make her books any better, she finds a way to surprise me and makes it better than the last. I have no idea how she does it, but her characters continually evolve and just get better making for steamier, hotter, more romantic, and more loving romances!
Amber is someone we have touched on a few times as several of her sisters have had their own romance journey, but it was so fun getting to know her. She is definitely someone I could see being friends with and wanting to spend time with!
Dash is… wow. The biggest heart ever. He made everyone – myself included – fall in love with him instantly. You can’t help yourself!
The electricity between Amber and Dash sizzles every time they are near each other and the things they go through and do for each other are… dreamy. Those are the things that slap you in the face and tell you that it’s real love.
There were times in the story where you could feel the emotions. The hitch in the breath; the yearning to be close; the love; the heat radiating between the two of them. This romance story felt so much different, and I think that had to do with the characters. They were as unique as their love story.
I could not put this book down and would love to see a future book about them. They definitely had a future, but one with unanswered questions. I would love to see how they work through those as the amazing couple that they are.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Embracing Her Heart (The Bradens & Montgomerys (Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls) #1) Anything for Love (The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls #2) Trails of Love (The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls #3) Wild, Crazy Hearts (The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls #4) Making You Mine (The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls #5) Searching for Love (The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls #6) Hot for Love (The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls #7)
This is Amber and Dash‘s story. She is a bookstore owner who likes the quiet life. He is a former athlete turned author. They meet when she hosts a book signing. The chemistry is off the charts, but she knows she can fight it. After all she does not need excitement in her life. He seems to be all about that life. What she does not consider is that he wants her and is willing to work for it. So, ignoring him will not work. He is about to pull out all the stops.
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
This book had me feeling all sorts of emotions. They went from happiness and hopeful worrisome and excitement. Melissa has a way with words that grabs at your heartstrings and plays with them a little.
Dash is a hot, retired pro footballer turned writer and motivational talker. He decides to visit his friend before one of his book signings in his friend's small town. Dash is intrigued on why the owner of the small town bookstore was not interested in having the book signing. When he arrives he sees a beautiful but shy woman that takes his breath away. Later he finds out she is the owner of the bookstore. Amber is not his usual type but there is something about her that has Dash mesmerized. Can he convince her that he is worth the risk? Will Dash prove to her that they are ment to be together?
Amber has lead a quiet life but that is her doing. Having a medical condition that she feels she needs to keep herself sheltered but at times regrets it. When Dash rolls into town, her life is thrown to the wind. Can she go with the flow or will she stay the course? She finds Dash too much but will his sweet ways change her feelings? Can a situation that happens change everything in her life?
Melissa had me not being able to put this book down. The chemistry between Amber & Dash was perfect. The development of Amber's character from the start was beautiful. To see her grow as a person because of the love of a man was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves sweet strangers to lovers romance.
One thing I absolutely adore about her writing is the easy way she makes the reader fall madly in love with her characters. There is always something so real to her stories it is impossible not to come out on the other side in awe of the story. Personally, this book brought a lot of personal emotions as my brother had a type of epilepsy when he was growing up. The fact that Melissa is not afraid to approach such raw, real-life topics but she does with respect and full comprehension of the theme at hand. Dash and Amber are beautiful in this book and both brought too much emotion through the pages, their attraction instantaneous, their love so powerful, their courage, unparalleled. Dash brings on his game plan to win Amber's heart and show her how it is possible to enjoy life outside her comfort zone avoiding being a "Monday Morning Quarterback" and ultimately scoring to win her love.
I never get tired of reading these books and I would love to see them all brought to life on screen.
I am very thankful for allowing me once again to receive an advance copy and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
The Bradens and Montgomerys are 2 of my favorite families to go back and visit, and the Ladies Who Write addition to their world makes each book more like a visit with friends and family than ever before.
Now, here’s one of my favorite things about Melissa Foster books, she doesn’t shy away from main characters who don’t for our idea of “perfect”, and Amber Montgomery doesn’t even meet her own ideals. Suffering with seizures from an early age, Amber has made her world fairly small to manage her condition, but maybe it’s time to open some doors.
Now Dash Pennington is all about knocking doors down, an MVP award winning wide receiver in the NFL, motivational speaker and an author, he just may knock down a wall or two.
But here’s the thing, if you’re so used to keeping your world small, if you’re introverted to an extent I would think that this hot, yummy football player would be scary, however Foster manages to fit him into Amber’s world in such a way that you want to yell at Amber to stop being an idiot… and find out who he’s modeled after!
Another awesome book is out by Melissa Foster and it hits close to home for me. As you know I’m a huge Melissa Foster fan because none of her books have let me down so far. Sweet, sexy heart is so good and out now!
This book is about Dash and Amber. Dash is a retired football player who now writes books and is an inspirational speaker. He’s charming and can get any girl he wants but has been burned before and is looking for what’s missing in his life.
Amber is a small town, quiet, kept to herself girl. She loves books and owns a book store. She is all about her family but not finding love because it’s just not made for someone like her. She has epilepsy and people just don’t know how to deal with that and she rather not even try. Can Dash get her to reconsider or is his fast-paced crazy life too much for her calm planned life?
I absolutely love this book. I honestly thought Amber was dealing with my life. I grew up with grand-mal seizures and have seen fear, embarrassment, and more in others' faces when I’ve had a seizure. It’s traumatizing and I honestly thought no man would want to or should have to deal with my medical issues. It’s tough.do I totally sympathize with her. Dash was a man I could only dream of meeting. I definitely recommend this book!
