Ex Ops #6

Bullets and Bluebonnets

Rate this book
From New York Times best-selling author Cristin Harber and best-selling author Jessie Lane comes an exciting collaboration…

"What happens when Titan and Ex Ops work together?"
Terror has gripped the NYPD. A rogue sniper took out, not only the NYPD’s SWAT snipers and police chief, but several others. Now they must turn to the only person they can trust: Jared Westin and the Titan Group.

There’s only one problem. The Titan Operatives are currently tied up with their own missions.
Unwilling to leave the NYPD hanging, Jared Westin cashes in a favor from Commander Jaxon Wall. Only, Jared doesn’t want to send Jaxon’s Ex Ops Team for the job; he wants to send in someone Jaxon has kept secret: his goddaughter, Billie Jean Beasely, one of the best snipers working for the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team, if only her male counterparts would let her prove it. The NYC mission could finally give her that chance.

Thing is, Jaxon Wall isn’t willing to send his goddaughter in alone. He wants to send one of his own men to help her. Chase Anderson.

Will Chase turn out to be yet another man who thinks Billie is less of a shot just because she’s a woman? Or will Billie finally meet a man who realizes she loves her bullets as much as bluebonnets?

Billie Jean IS your girl.

Billie Jean Beasley grew up more backwoods Barbie than the normal girl but what can you expect when she was raised by a Navy SEAL father, 4 older brothers and a superhero Godfather. Her prowess with a super rifle has her caught between the misogynistic jerkoffs in the FBI Hostage Rescue Team but it's what she's always wanted to do. When she disobeys a direct order in order to save a hostage, she's suspended. Knowing that she can't continue working with a group that places lives as second on the list of priorities, she quits her dream job.

Chase Anderson walked away from his military career, as a spotter and skilled sharpshooter, when an op was compromised and his best friend ended up dead. He put away his rifle and scope and wages war on America's enemies using his keyboard now. He's torn in two when his boss at Ex Ops assigns him a mission and tells him to dust off his scope. He'll be working alongside Billie Jean to catch a sniper targeting high ranking individuals inside the NYPD.

Billie Jean is nothing Chase expects. She's a seasoned professional, a smart mouthed superhero and beautiful badass. She evens gets his jokes! He's doing doubletime to convince his lower half (in hilarious conversations with himself lol) to stand down, at least, until the mission is over.

We see Jared Weston, of Titan fame and his encounter with "Uncle Jax" was great. Jared might want to brush up, not many can get the jump on him. Parenting must be making him soft. Haha. Chase's antics kept me grinning throughout and wishing the book were longer. I would've loved to see more interaction with Uncle Jax and Chase once these two fall in love! I even loved the "Gibbs slap" (NCIS fans will get that.) Awesome novella from Titan World.

*I volunteered to review with my honest opinion*
I loved this story, this is part of the Titan world although you don't see the teammates of Titan we do see Jared. So in this story, we have someone terrorizing the streets of NY since titan is all on mission Jared ask Jaxon for help but the only one he trusts one person to handle his goddaughter Billie Jean Beasley. She is one bad** heroine she doesn't let guys tell her anything because she is better at shooting. Now she is going to have to work with Chase one of her godfather's men. Chase uses humor, I thought he was childish but as soon as you got to know him better he was the funniest especially his inner thoughts. Billie Jean might be she alpha but when Chase sweet talks her she melts and it's cute to see. While letting her barriers down she learns to trust him and work with him finding the rogue sniper out killing innocents. A great short story makes you want more but you do get a happy ending.

So excited for a Jessie Lane book. This is a perfect book. There are strong characters, one of them female (which I love and Jessie is known for), a great storyline, and steamy romance. The male characters are alpha’s with a tender side while the females know when to kick the man’s butt and when to stand back and let him take over.

Chase, sigh, he’s just so wonderful. He’s strong, sexy, reliable, honest, and so alpha. Billie Jean is a take no prisoners, I am woman hear me roar, sniper. Together they mesh. They understand each other, respect each other, and challenge each other.

The storyline of the sniper taking out NYPD officers is intriguing. I like it. I enjoyed that this story was not all about sex and romance. There was a crime to solve and together Chase and Billie Jean are the perfect pair to solve it. The romance part of the story was secondary. From the beginning you could feel the sparks and see the attraction between the two but they chose not to act on those feelings and do the job they were hired to do.

When the sex happen Holy Moly! It was steamy hot, which is exactly what I expected from Jessie Lane. The coming together was amazing, blow your mind sex. The anticipation of this built through the entire story so I knew it would be wonderful.

Bullets and Bluebonnets is another superb book. I recommend picking up your copy.

This is a short story from Jessie Lane set in Cristin Harber's Titan World series and involving characters from Ms Lane's Ex-Ops series.

Billie Jean Beasley has been raised by her Navy Seal father with the help of her 4 older brothers. She is a trained sniper who has to prove every day in her job with the FBI HRT that she is just as good, if not better, than any man on the team. When she disobeys a direct order in order to save a hostage's life she soon finds herself out of a job.

Chase Anderson is ex-military. Once an Army spotter, a skilled marksman in his own right, tragic events in Afghanistan when a mission went resulting in the death of closest friend has led Chase to working in the private sector using his computer hacking skills. When a sniper starts killing off high value targets in the NYPD, Billie Jean & Chase are sent in to catch the assassin before they can kill again.

The attraction between Billie Jean & Chase is instant and the banter between them hilarious making me laugh out loud in parts. Chase has the utmost respect for her skills though and understands that Billie Jean is deserving of both the bullets & blue bonnets of the title. I loved this book. My one complaint would be we didn't get to hear what happened when Chase met Billie Jean's father & brothers - now that would have been funny.

I would expect nothing less of Jaxon Wall's goddaughter than to be a bad ass chick with a rifle. This short story has both humor – Chase Anderson was a hoot – and the seriousness of a sniper taking out NYPD officers.

Billie Jean was raised by a family of alpha men. She grew up to be one of the best snipers working for the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team. Problem was they were not to all that happy to have a woman on their team. After disobeying an order she didnt feel was right she quit. During this time a sniper in New York is killing top police officers and her godfather Jaxon Wall who heads the Ex Ops team has been asked to allow his goddaughter to go to NYC and flush out the sniper. Jaxon assigns Chase Anderson from him team to accompany her to be her spotter.

These two were hilarious together along with both being alphas and seriously attracted to each other. This was short but still had plenty of action and a satisfying conclusion. Love the Ex Ops series and it was great to get to see a more personable side to Jaxon Wall (well as much as he would let us see)

Love it

It is so good to read a book where females are not made seem the weaker sex. I love how the snipers were women. Most book make us seem like we should run and hide from trouble, but this one we run to it. Love how her man excepted her for who she was, not tried to change her.

I got a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. And I LOVED it!. The characters were strong and smart and funny all at the same time. I would really like to see more of them in Titan World. I never expected to find so much humor wending it's way through the serious story line but
it made the read very enjoyable. At the same time there were some intense scenes . All in all I hated to see it end. I read it straight through, couldn't put it down. Two thumbs up to Jesse Lane!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I loved this book!

This is one of those stories that you have to read in one sitting. It’s that good. Jessie Lane has you smirking at Chase’s adorable, funny, sexy personality. She also has you feeling impressed, proud and happy for Billie Jean’s feisty, independent and amazing outlook on her talented skills as a sniper.

These two talented people pair up to come to the defense of the biggest law enforcement organization in this country. Together, their skills on the job will save numerous lives and bring justice where it is deserved. They have a very close connection to the fabled Titan Team. This could be a future they are both looking for. Together, their passion for each other will tantalize and consume their every breath. I loved the plot in this book. Chase is the typical playboy hitting on a beautiful woman with the most cheesy pick up lines. He doesn’t realize that he’s a goner when it comes to being able to walk away from Billie Jean. Billie Jean is not a girly girl. She is proud. She is elite. She is one of the best in a man’s world. She is also totally hot for sexy Chase.

If you have read any of the Titan books, you will love the premise of this story. It is all that one loves in a military romance. It’s sweet, funny, intense, suspenseful, sexy and hot all wrapped up into a quick story.

Bullets and Bluebonnets by Jessie Lane
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
GAH!! Chase…seriously he is Mr. Perfect. He is the perfect storm of bad jokes and alpha tendencies. He is also kicka$$ Ex Op who is the man to help Uncle Jax protect and work with his Goddaughter, BB.
Billie Jean, or BB is not a typical, prissy girl. She wants her Oreos when she needs to binge eat but she also wants the newest riffle to clean and shoot with. A Damsel in distress she is not!
When the Titan teams and Ex Ops join forces to stop a sniper who is talking out the best of our NYPD, BB and Chase are assigned to work together to find the sniper. Since they are both highly trained in their fields, Uncle Jax puts them together. Although he is sure to tell Chase to watch out and keep it in his pants when it comes to his little girl…snicker.
As for annny Jessie Ex Op books, the guys are tough but the woman are just as bad a$$. BB and Chase are totally drawn to one another and boy is the chemistry amazing to read. I mean I blushed a time or two just like BB. But the best, Chase and his “private” conversations. They were KILLING ME!!! KILLING!!!!

What do you get when you mix a feisty and daring sniper with a dangerous and sarcastic agent? An explosion of sex and action that will keep the reader enthralled and begging for more. Billie Jean is such an amazingly strong female character that I couldn’t help but like. She isn’t afraid to say what she thinks and is more than willing to backup her sass with actions. Being a female sniper is hard, but she has the skills and abilities that overshadow a good number of males in the field, which has made her career a hard as she won’t follow orders that she doesn’t believe are right.

Chase Anderson is an operative for Titan and the best man for the job, even if he can be a smartass. Unfortunately for him, the mission that he is on is to spot Billie Jean while she is trying to find and takeout the snipper that is picking of NYPD officers. That is the one thing that he didn’t think he could do again. What I loved about Chase was that not only is he hot as hell with his tattoo’s and beard, he also has a soft side. The chemistry between both characters is awesome, and Chase if funny as all get out with his cheesy one-liners and irreverent attitude.

Steamy sex scene and hilarious repartee, BULLETS AND BLUEBONNETS is a wonderful read. Jessie Lane has definitely created a wonderful edition to the Titan World series.

Bullets and Bluebonnets is a short but sexy story. Lane mixes her Ex Ops series with Harber's Titan Group. The leading male is Chase operator with Ex Ops and Billie Jean aka BB female sniper. They are thrown together to help NYC boys in blue find a serial sniper along with Parker Black from Titan and they will get the job done.
Chase and BB have an instant connection and when they finally come together its scorching hot. Chase alone will leave you breathless, he is an alpha with green eyes, tattoos from neck to legs and a beard.
BB was raised by her father, four brothers and Godfather Jaxson Wall ExOps Commander. She loves camo, guns, and men with tattoos and beards. Chase and BB have great chemistry in and out the bedroom.
If you have read Lanes ExOps series or Harber's Titan or if never read either then I suggest picking up a copy of Bullets and Bluebonnets you will not be disappointed.

This book is hilarious.
Rolling on the floor laughing, my husband thinks I am crazy, and I choked on my sweet tea- fuunnnnyy.
There is some serious heavy sh*t going on, suspense and action, but Lane still has you laughing in every chapter. The Hero & Heroine she paired in this novel are the PERFECT match. Equal badassery and equal hilarity. I loved this book!.
As with the other Titan World books I have reviewed, I think this one stands alone great, if you haven't read either the Titan or Ex Ops series. This is the first Ex Ops books I have read and I never felt lost.

This book was funny, I lost count of the amount of times I laughed out loud. Chase Anderson is charming, sweet and hilarious, and Billie Jean Beasely is one kick-arse chick; together they are the perfect match. They head to NYC to investigate sniper shootings and we get to see their relationship progress through the search. It's a quick read, maybe a couple hours long but it is incredibly entertaining. The Titan connection is there but it isn't overpowering, I think fans of that series will love the interacts they have with Team Titan. I'm definitely going to look for more books by Jessie Lane.

Asking if her friends call her BJ was probably not a good conversation starter! Chase and Billie Jean are working together on a case for the ExOps team that was handed over from Titan. Billie Jean is a sniper that is trying to find her place in a "man's" profession when her godfather puts her on the case. Chase, a member of the ExOps team, swore he wouldn't work as a spotter again after a mission goes wrong. Fate has other ideas for this duo.

This was a fun story!! The idea of a strong sassy woman in a traditional man's job is what drew me to this story. And I was not let down. The story was action and felt a bit too realistic at times, but it was such a fun and steamy read. Billie Jean was a sassy strong woman with a great sense of who she is and how good she is at her job. Chase was a funny guy but also great at his job. I loved the mini background we got on him so he was a deeper characters then he might otherwise have presented. Oh and the dialogue between these two was great!! The fun references to Billie Jean and marriage. 4.5 stars.

Wow just wow

Bullets and Bluebonnets will have you wrapped around its first words to the very end. It's that good with the mix of the author Ex Ops series meshed with Titan operatives Parker, Cash and Roman. You'll just love how both Chase and Billie Jean work so easily together while trying to solve the who dun it sniper killing some of NYC SWAT team members.

I look forward to tease more about Billie Jean and Chase in the future.

I liked this book but didn't love it. First of all, nobody has ever gotten the drop on Jared. Second of all, if this story was supposed to be a romantic suspense it was severely off balanced. Overall, chances of me recommending this to other people is iffy. It would depend if someone was into novella and short stories. I read it because I loved the Titan series and wanted to see how other authors would include them w/o changing who they were in their original series.

A strong woman in a man's world!

She's a sniper in a man's world, where the majority of said men, don't want her. Put in a situation, save a life or a bag of cash, she is knocked back when her choice doesn't align with the 'bosses '.
Enter, ex ops, where they need her skill set, and a member who apparently needs her!
I did enjoy this book but what a shame it wasn't longer.
The storyline, characters and dialogue would have benefited with a full book. Found it free.

I'd never read anything about this author before but I must say I enjoyed this book A LOT! Gave it a chance because it's part the Titan World and I'm glad I did! Loved the instant connection the main characters had. It also had a very good balance between the humor and of course the action. And the fact that the girl is so badass made me love it even more.

Beautiful

I just love how this book came together and even though its part of a series, it can be read on its own as the plot is completely different. I love reading about strong and independent heroines who manage to tame their alphas. That is my favorite kind of book.

Well done Jessie!

short & sweet book!

This book was a fun quick read! The romance was quick between the two characters I absolutely the MFC, she was so confident and knew what she wanted. Though I wish I knew what happen between her former boss and what her future job was like if she chose to join Ex ops permanently or was it just a one time thing. Overall a great book!

Enjoy books with bad-ass women characters and Billie Jean aka BB is such a heroine. Love the dynamics between Chase and BB. This is a simple short story displays the difficulties for women in male dominant roles & organizations.
