I'm a warrior with the soul of a dragon.
To protect my female, I’ll kidnap her…

The devastation killed most of our population. Since then, Zmaj men have lived isolated and without females. That changed when a ship with human passengers crashed on our planet. For the first time in many years, we have females in our midst.

But some of the new humans fear our species. One of them, a quiet, dark-haired beauty with a fierce spirit, awakens my dragon. When I catch her scent, lust heats my blood.

Tajss is fraught with danger, not only from the scorching desert and blood-thirsty animals, but the battles among its peoples. Sarah doesn’t see the threats that lurk in the shadows, but I do. As second in command of the Tajss tribe, I face the choice of fulfilling my duty, or protecting Sarah. She’s become my world. My mate. I’ll keep her safe.

Even if it means kidnapping her...

USA Today bestselling author Miranda Martin writes fantasy and scifi romance featuring heroes with out-of-this-world anatomy that readers call 'larger than life' and smart heroines destined to save the world. As a little girl, she would sneak off with her nose in a book, dreaming of magical realms. Today she brings those fantasies to life and adores every fan who chooses to live in them for a while.

Though born and raised in southern Virginia, Miranda Martin is a veteran who's traveled to places like Korea, Hawaii, and good 'ole Texas. She's since settled in Kansas, the heart of America, with her husband and daughters, a cat, and wishes for a pet dragon or unicorn. Well that was weird? G had such an anti climactic end no? Like there was all this build up then poof? He's probably not dead and will pop up later though. The bad guys always pop up when you think they're dead.

Sadly I won't be finding out. The author has decided to turn this great series into a Reverse Harem one starting with the next book. That's really not my thing at all AND I don't see how that works in this world with how she's set up the aliens to be super jealous and territorial of their "treasure". But, these books are how she pays the bills and RH is the hot ticket right now so there you have it.

If that's your thing then I'm sure you're excited. I'm pretty sad about it though.

At least I got to read Sarah's HEA! I'd been waiting for hers for several books now and I loved it!

This book answers so many of the unanswered questions in the series. The world building and the character growth of previous characters can be seen while we learn of this new couple. As always there is action, suspense and romance wrapped all into one. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Book #8, Red Planet Dragons of Tajss. Dragons, humans, life, death, and a beautiful blend of cultures is irresistible!

SPOILER ALERT: THIS IS BOOK EIGHT IN THE RED PLANET DRAGONS OF TAJSS SERIES. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST SEVEN BOOKS, THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.

Tjass, the Red Planet. It's here the human generation ship has crashed, and life for those onboard will never be the same. Tjass was never meant for humans. The Zmaj, dragons who survived the Devastation, who live daily with the two suns making the planet a desert, the zemlja and other indigenous fauna whose only purpose is to exterminate, barely survive. For humans? Without the help of the Zmaj, no one would make it. But Gershom and a handful of other arrogant, bigoted humans, have rebelled and taken off. What to do? After the Devastation, the Zmaj gave up, knowing their extinction was imminent. There's no survival without females! Now hope blooms again. Seems humans and Zmaj are compatible. New offspring have already arrived from blended unions. But Gershom's rebellion divides all. Neither species can survive without the other. They not only have to coexist but embrace each other. It falls to Sarah to join Gershom and his band of rebels to keep tabs on them. But at what cost? Drosdan, second-in-command to Visidion, leader of the Zmaj, is Sarah's soulmate. His past is tortured, his memories nearly destroyed by the aftermath of the Devastation. He only remembers enough to know he's not worthy. But he loves Sarah. Leaving her alone with the renegade humans is unacceptable. That her own commander, Rosalind, ordered Sarah to what might be certain death, is intolerable. So Drosdan takes matters into his own hands. But at what cost? His life has consisted only of service to authority. To violate that existence would result in the worst of retributions. As Sarah tries her best to be both spy and savior to the rebels, Drosdan makes a fateful decision that will forever change everything. It could mean the death of every rebel, each of whom is desperately needed. Worse, it could doom both species! There are too many questions and no answers. When Sarah's put in mortal peril, Drosdan has two choices. One will lead to Sarah's survival, but at what cost? The other will end in her certain death and his devastation. There's no way to win, is there? One thing is crystal clear. If the Zmaj and humans are to survive, even thrive, there has to be a way out. The overwhelming question is, how?

Miranda Martin is a new author for me, and I was intrigued by the premise of this story. Two totally alien species, both dependent on each other for their very survival, is unique. Add a fractious rebellion with the potential to destroy the fragile alliance, not to mention annihilate any possibility of survival, and you have a story that pulls you in from the first page. Sarah and Drosdan are so compelling. Each has only known an existence of service to the hierarchy. But when they find each other, everything changes. And that's the hook that draws you into this story. Inexorable duty versus soul-deep connection, true happiness, and even more is the basis for every type of conflict there could be. Add in the differences of the Zmaj and humans, the struggle for every day of existence on this harsh and cruel planet, the rebellion, and the very real possibility that everything will end for everyone, and the story's nearly irresistible. Sarah and Drosdan are a study in contrasts. In many ways, they're as alike as two beings can be. In others, no two could be more different. And there are forces at play of which no one is aware. The supporting characters lend an essential element of uncertainty which holds you captivated to the last page. This book is excellent, and I'll definitely be reading more of Miranda Martin's books in the future.

A final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and (Amazon) all booksellers' websites. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to a book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!

Whaaa???

How in the heck did these two that never had anything to do with each other end up together??? Drosdan is the commanders second he lives with the tribe, Sarah is The Lady General's spy she lives in the city. How these two characters that have had no interaction with one another became lovers is beyond me!! Sure she comments that they had the occasional passing in a hallway or something or that she spotted him in passing when making drops for the Lady Genral but still when the book started I was blown away because I just didn't understand how their relationship had progressed so fast when I had never read of them having any interaction with each other...so anyways over looking that fact Sarah left with the Grishom supporters to continue her undercover disguise to keep feeding the lady general information in the hopes of getting the humans to eventually to come around and be opened to the idea of inbreeding with the aliens so that both races will survive indefinitely. The Lady General was supposedly informed with all the knowledge on what the generational ship needed in order for the humans to actually survive and continue to grow and with the amount of people they have now she believes they won't have a future because eventually the genetics will become watered down and diseases and all kinds of other mutations could occur because of not having enough people..so that's why she is so invested in keeping the humans that don't want to breed with the aliens alive because she needs ever person in order to guarantee the people thrive. What didn't make any sense to me is why Sarah felt so indebted to the general I don't recall her ever stating her reasons why she felt like she owed her so much. I also didn't like how they could tell Drosdan not to help her because really if her goal was keeping every human alive he was doing exactly that if he had followed their orders they would have died. And when the general got pissed at her for almost ruining her plans that pissed me off as well cause really there she is standing with her Alien man gets to spend every day with him who is she to begrudge Sarah some happiness after all she had done for her so all in all I didn't care for this one either I skimmed through a good bit of it because each one of her stories are pretty much the same even the intimate scenes are rehashed and played out

The Tajss desert is full of dangers, from blood thirsty animals, to swirling sand storms and all males that have no hope without females to build a future with. There was an event that the Zmaj call The Devistation, which left them alone with their surviving friends and warriors. A large ship has crash landed and among the survivors are humans, women too. Once the humans find ways to survive and a few lose their fear of the Zmaj men/dragons, some hope arises and they can try to make something of their lives, to survive and hopefully learn to get along and work together. Fear does take route among a group that is led by a non believer in cooperation and that group sets off in the desert to try and make it to their crashed ship at least. There are a few factions in the population and they split off from each other from fear and ignorance. The path is dangerous and no one knows how it will all turn out, but Sarah was convinced to follow the group that has turned away from the city that could
have kept them safe and fed. Sarah is doing the best she can to influence the group to make smart decisions, but the ignorance and ego of their leader does not help her case any. Meanwhile, Drosdan, who has decided Sarah is meant to be his mate, is worried about Sarah's survival in the desert with the humans that have no idea how to defend themselves from the deadly animals that live there or how to hunt for food. Drosdan makes sure to provide food for Sarah and they meet secretly in a safe spot so she can get food enough for herself and share with her fellow humans, that are not doing well
with the rations allowed to them. Their travels are not easy and the different factions can't seem to learn to cooperate to survive, as egos make matters so much harder to succeed in the harsh land.
I did enjoy this story in the end, but I must admit, it took me a long time to read past all the conflict and indecision of everyone involved. A long and complicated story that made me think hard on what could happen when ignorance and prejudice prevails.
We do get a HEA, so my soft heart is satisfied with it all in the end.

Gersham and the other Human First supporters have been expelled from the city. Sarah, the spy for the Lady General herself, has been inserted amongst them. But when she leaves, she leaves behind a certain large, irate and very possessive Zmaj! Drosdan knows that Sarah is his and he is battling the bijass constantly with her departure. But when he is told to stop helping Sarah he storms off and kidnaps her to save her!

Now the two of them are surviving in a lost village, but Drosdan is feeling what Sarah has labelled Deja Vu. He feels that he has been here before and it does not dredge up pleasant memories. It seems Drosdan has a habit of not blindly following orders!

But can he save the survivors, even though they hate him and the other Zmaj, before it's too late? Or will he lose Sarah despite all his attempts to save her?

Sarah and Drosdan are both so willing to put others needs before their own, making Sarah the perfect spy and Drosdan a great second in command. But this trait is also their downfall. I loved it when Drosdan when all caveman and dragged Sarah off. But once he calmed down he realised that he had to return them to civilisation eventually. I loved how Drosdan faight with the bijass is slowly breaking down, he is not some perfect male, he struggles with real challanges. Great read!

Smart, strong Sarah and death-defying dragon Drosdan get their HEA

I am SO over the moon with Miranda Martin's Red Planet Dragons of Tajss! In Dragon's Desire, she takes us back on the path of exiled hate-monger Gershom and his followers. Sarah is with them - as a plant. She reports to Lady General Rosalind, who is determined to save as many humans as possible so that a new hybrid human-Zmaj race may give them all a future on Tajss. Drosdan is the Zmaj left in charge of the Tribe, and he knows Sarah is his mate - but her loyalty to Rosalind's mission, and his loyalty to the Tribe and the Edicts, is an increasingly difficult hurdle to their happiness. Something's gotta give... The richly detailed descriptions of the hostile red planet and its denizens, the tales of their ongoing struggles with each other, the pitfalls and the predators of their brave new world bring depth and drama to this hot, angsty, and heartwarming interspecies romance. HEA for the H/h, and the promise of more adventures to come - I am amazed at Ms. Martin's inexhaustible imagination and her ability to create memorable characters. I hope she keeps it going, because I'm up for as many repeat visits to Tajss as I can get.

Characters are unbelievably TSTL...

Along the whole series so far the human politics have been TSTL (to stupid to live) but it culminates in this one particularly bad.

(Possible spoilers)
Some much weaker than you, asshole, comes into your home and you just sit and watch while he bullies your spouse and then takes your home? Because reasons? Honestly.... though the group of people who literally choose death instead of going to a safe place because of hate/phobia and these heroes still choose to coddle them instead of getting themselves medical help that they themselves will die without? That is the stupidest plot reasoning I've seen...

I mean really?!
Group x "I'm injured and have to go get medical care or I will die, come with me and I'll save your life too"
Group Y " I don't want to be saved by you because I'm a bigot who doesn't want to be around your kind"
Group X "ok I won't go get my fatal injury treated! Instead, I can instead walk you somewhere else so you don't have to be around us!"
Group Y "Yay! There cheers for bigotry!"
Group X "Oh look I'm unconscious and dieing! Carry me! Let's keep going so that bigot doesn't have to be annoyed by us!!

I mean COME ON!!!

Drosdan and Sarah

This is an excellent book in the continuation of the series. There is plenty of action taking place in this story.
Sarah is sent as a spy into Gershom's camp by Rosalind. Now that Gershom and his followers are exiled, Sarah has to go with them. They decide to go to the crash site of the ship and live there. No one knows that her and Drosdan were a couple. They kept it a secret from everyone.
Drosdan decides to help by strategically placing dead animals so Sarah can have food. He also meets secretly to bring her epis. He ends up kidnapping her and taking her away to a place no one knows of because of things in his past.
This book drags us further into the lives of the Zmaj and humans. Can they ever learn to live together and respect each other? As always, I anxiously await more books in this world.
This is definitely a recommended series if you enjoy sci-fi books!

Drosdan is a Zmaj dragon warrior and Sarah is human. They know that they have a duty and so he looks after his tribe in his role as a second in command and she is on assignment with the rebels lead by Gershom. Making a choice between their duty and protecting her from all of the possible dangers in the desert which is very dangerous, he decides to act and just kidnaps her. As his dragon assures him, as her mate he must protect her at all costs, no matter what that is.

I enjoyed this story which had moments of happiness, moments of sadness and many, many moments of sheer frustration as Sarah tried to do the right thing, wasn't always appreciated for it, but still paid a price for her trouble. I really hope this group of humans appreciate it and come around to seeing the Zmaj as friends and not enemies. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

2.4 stars I thought writing usually got better with time...
I really expected a better story better with this couple. I kept getting side tracked by discrepancies... like he was all tore up from the storm, and had a twisted knee that apparently healed in minutes because then they fooled around and when they got up and she was admiring his backside and all his glories with no mention of any injuries, only beauty. Yet the other guy caught in the same situation of a sandstorm almost died from his injuries.... sigh. And why is the second so crazy here?!? And what happened to the 2 guys with guns who were knocked out in the sand?!? Left to die?? It portrayed the leaders of the last book, who I really liked, poorly.... typos … etc...

fantastic series

This series is so full of action and new twists and turns in the plot. With every book more of the planet and it’s history are revealed as each human female and Zmaj male pair off. So many of them are haunted by aspects of the devastation that destroyed all civilization on their planet and of course Dorsdan is no different. But Sarah won’t let him pull away when his memories of terrible things he was part of before the devastation return and make him want to run. There are people depending on them, even if they are foolish and headstrong humans that insist on living apart from the Zmaj that could help them. Together Sarah and Dorsdan make strides to close the gap between the separatists and the rest.

almost gave it lower

I was confused by her undercover plant and the dome city leaders. It did not seem like they wanted the outcasts to die (except leader).
Storyline about her role made no sense to me. I thought the author was going to have her lead the humans that wanted to leave to a visiting Tajss and he would bring back to the dome city.
D was correct it made no sense that the human leaders plan was to let them all starve? When her story made a big deal about “a plan”. Which implied the rest of the humans coming back after they realized they could not survive wo the dragons.
I rated the story on the relationship of the characters only. I like them.

Loyalty is important but to what point? Both Sarah and Drosdan understand their "part" in their leader's plans for the rebuilding of the planet. That doesn't mean they don't wish things were different. What will happen when Rosalind and Visidion find out that the two aren't following the plan? As always, I loved visiting Tajss. One issue is resolved in this addition to the series but new ones are introduced. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Drosdan & Sarah

Wao! Miranda Martin you did it again. What a entertaining read, from the first page to the last you are transported to a alien planet with 2 suns, with a dangerous desert that hides monstrous ready to have for a meal. This book is packed with action, adventure And romance. The only disappointment was the villain just happen to die when the main characters were away, as a after though. Very anticlimactic I must say. Can't wait for the next book thought. Highly recommended

This is Sarah & Drosdan's story and it's as much fun as all the previous ones. Drosdan is all Alpha so when Sarah goes undercover he's notably distressed. Sarah & Drosdan have to deal with his PTSD and their sense of duty. We get to catch up with others on this world and the underlying storyline progresses forward.

Sweet and sexy book with dynamic characters and story line.

I love that the book explains everything that is needed to understand the storyline. Even if out is a part of a series. If planning to read the entire series, read from book one as there are details from previous books that would be revealed in this book.

AMAZING read

Drosdan has found his treasure

Drosdan has spent years as a loyal second to the leader of the tribe. But is it possible too much will be asked of him?? Rosalind has been grooming Sarah to follow in her footsteps, but might she ask too much of her protege, all for the good of the people??

This story builds on the previous stories involving Gershom, and I felt having read those made the actions of some characters easier to understand.

Dragon’s Desire and Love

Sarah leaves the city with the others who follow Greshome only she is going as a spy. Drosdan helps by leaving food for Sarah but then he is told not to. He gets angry and goes to there camp and takes Sarah away. They end up in a deserted village but Drosdon doesn’t know how he knew it was there until his memory from that time return. This is not a book to miss

Dragon’s Desire

This was a great story about the human survivors on Tajss and their ongoing fight for survival. In particular, one human and her native Zmaj mate and their romance. I really enjoyed their interactions, and his growth to seeing her as a strong independent woman while still loving her unconditionally! Their HEA was great, and I can’t wait for more romances and the ongoing story of the survivors!

I really liked this one a lot. Loved both mc's. The H was awesome, loved how he loved her. I think that if I was the h I would have been upset with Rosalee, she did send her off with no back up and something could have gone seriously wrong. I was glad the h took her out of the situation. Can't wait for the next one.

I love this series, and this one is a winner. Sarah is strong and independent, and Drosdan is powerful but so sweet. Their story and how they get over the hurdles in their way will make you laugh and cry. Only one question, what happened to the "cat"?

I received an ARC for early review and subsequently purchased a copy for my library.

Great addition

This was a great addition to the series. I was in complete agreement with Drosdan's way of thinking. I'm thinking that the bad guys death was sketchy sounding. Is there more to it, or am I just over thinking it? Will the others continue in the village? Definitely looking forward to the next book.

He knows the dangers she can't see and will protect her and make her his mate no matter what he has to be even if he must kidnap her! So dramatic but I have to say, I loved the drama and the speed of this book. It was fun to read and I look forward to more in this series.

This entry in the dragons of Tajss series was lower in my personal ranking. While there were some good plot expansion elements with the village, and a new creature, the characters weren't as compelling for me. I just didn't connect to Drosdan and Sarah and the book just was weaker compared to others in the series.
