A sexy short story from New York Times and international bestselling author Elle Kennedy!
Getting dirty? He’s down with that.
At twenty-eight, Jackson Ramsey is more than ready for marriage and a couple of rugrats. Instead, his SEAL teammates have all found love, while he’s still playing the field. When his friends offer to set him up, Jackson figures what the hell? It’s not as if he has anything to lose, right?
But the one woman he has sparks with—his neighbor’s smart, sassy, green-eyed gardener—wants nothing to do with him. Luckily, a Navy SEAL knows a thing or two about the art of pursuit…
Warning: This very short freebie does not include a happily ever after. Be prepared to commiserate with a sexy SEAL on his journey for love. But don’t worry—he’ll find it soon in As Hot As It Gets!
A New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Elle Kennedy grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, and holds a B.A. in English from York University. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a writer, and actively began pursuing that dream when she was a teenager.
Elle currently writes for various publishers. She loves strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes, and just enough heat and danger to keep things interesting!
Navy SEAL Jackson Ramsey and Mia - part A of their story
Jackson’s desperate attempts to find a girlfriend who is not psychotic are extremely funny. His friends’s girlfriends and wives are trying to set up blind dates for him, but nothing works! Until he meets the friendly neighbourhood gardener.
OMG, I loved it! It was a hilarious appetizer to Jackson’s full-length novel!
Funny, sexy, nicely written. Jackson’s personality already peeks out, making you want more!
"Miranda totally bought your aw-shucks-I’m-such-a-Southern-gentleman act." "Not an act," he said smugly. "I’m a rare and remarkable specimen of a man."
And he totally is! ;) Already love him. Hope his book is as awesome as this prelude!
The title is appropriate--it isa little bit and it's hot, or at least the follow up (Navy SEAL Jackson Ramsey's story) promises to be hot. This is just a teaser to set up Jackson's upcoming story (As Hot As It Gets).
And what a teaser it is! It's more like a prequel, actually. Native Texan Jackson is 28, and about ready to settle down with a wife and some kids. He sees all his SEAL buddies either married or in serious relationships and he's ready for that too. His buddies wives and girlfriends all think they have the perfect match for the sexy southern gentleman (with a wicked side that is only alluded to) so they proceed to play matchmaker for him, with comical results. Despite all the efforts, not one woman is the perfect match for Jackson. Will he ever find a special someone? But when he spies a sexy brunette (Mia) working on his neighbor's garden next door, he's intrigued. She's cute, she's funny...but she's not interested. Or is she?
Yep. I think As Hot As It Gets is going to be a scorcher, and I think Jackson's pursuit of Mia is one we won't soon forget. I just wish I had it in my hands right now because I'm dying to see how he's going to woo this reluctant woman!
This little prequel is totally FREE at the usual sites, so jump in and see if you enjoy the author's writing style. It'll cost you nothing but less than an hour of your time, and you may find an author and series (full of smokin' hot alphas) you can't resist.:)
A series of hilarious dates that were setup for him, and exactly that...in fact thats about it...I could have used a "little bit more" to be able to commit to reading the next story, having said that, the storyline did have potential and I will consider reading the next part in the future... ;)
Novella molto carina, ma soprattutto molto divertente. Gli appuntamenti di Jackson sono stati esilaranti da leggere e mi piace come è stata introdotta Mia.
When I read this I did wonder if it was necessary/relevant to the series and having now started As Hot As It Gets I can see that it really wasn't! Normally this would annoy me to the point I would give low ratings and start ranting, so what's different about this one?.....Well, firstly it was free, so no cause to start ranting about parting with my hard earned cash, and secondly it was a great read that had me chuckling several times. So even though it is not necessary to read I would recommend that you pop over to the store you usually buy your ebooks from and grab this lovely little prequel.
Ooh, I really liked this prequel to As Hot As It Gets, the next book in the Out of Uniform series!
I confess I haven't read any of the previous books - yeah, shame on me! - so the numerous secondary characters that made an appearance in this quickie/novella were all strangers to me, but that didn't prevent me from understanding and enjoying it. I loved sexy, charming Southern hottie Jackson, the hero, and I liked the glimpse I had of Mia, the slightly quirky heroine, so I'm definitely going to read their book. Is it out yet? ;)
The title says it all. This was a short, funny story, but that ending... not just a little bit hot.
Jackson sees all his fell SEAL team members finding the love of their lives and he wants some of that. He's an easy-going, light-hearted guy with some Texas charm, but date after date with the women his friends and their sweethearts line up just do not work out.
Then the one he finds all on his own and has a connection with shuts him down. All that pent up need requires some place to go...
I loved Jackson and his dating adventures and appreciated the camaraderie with the guys in this fast read, but easy-paced set up story for Jackson and Mia's book that comes right after.
A fun little novella in this series. I've some of these, and out of order, but I vaguely remember reading Jacksons story and enjoying it, and this was a great lead in to that.
This is a very short prequel to As Hot as it gets, it's an enjoyable quick read with likeable characters. The 2 stars I've given is not a negative but since there's so little of it it seemed unfair to give 3 stars. There's enough here to get you interested in the next book, which is after all the point.
If you haven’t read Elle Kennedy’s Out of Uniform series, then here’s your chance to get a free taste of the sexiness you’ve been missing.
Jackson Ramsey is having a tough time with the ladies, to say the least. I mean, when you read this short freebie, you’ll see the countless bad dates and crazy women he encounters. I almost feel bad to admit I laughed my way through it, but it was certainly fun to read about.
When he encounters a women looking for her lost phone in the dirt, he offers some assistance as the good gentleman he is. Right from the get go, he is entranced by this beauty who doesn’t want anything to do with him. Caring for a troublesome teen is hard enough without having another man in her life. But Jackson isn’t quite ready to let her go just yet.
This story ends abruptly, making you want to scream with frustration because you are dying to know what happens next. I can tell you this, if I wasn’t hooked before, I certainly am now.
In this story, you get the smallest taste of the sexiness you can expect in the rest of the series. Trust me, it’s much, much more hotter. And you also get the fantastic banter between the men that has made me fall in love with them in the first place.
Give it a try, it’s free and I’m telling you, you’re going to enjoy it. What’s there to lose?
This is just a tease for the next (and final - boo!) book in the Out of Uniform series. A quick five chapters to get you going for Jackson, the last single guy of the group. This Texas gentleman wants what his friends have - a steady relationship with the right woman. Jackson is losing hope of finding her, as his string of bad blind dates goes longer. When a chance encounter presents him with a woman that he actually wants to see again - she shoots him down. Find out what he does next in four weeks when the full length book comes out. I wish I had it now! But thanks for the tease Elle Kennedy, and thanks for making it free.
I love this whole series.... I stumbled upon them while in a book stump and I haven't been able to get enough. Elle does a fabulous job of making sure the military details are accurate and each of her characters are so deep and you fall in love with all of them.
This short novella is a great segue for the next book. I can't wait to see what's in store for Jackson and what dirty little secrets he has in the bed room.
The little green eyed gardener is definitely what he needs.. shes spunky.
Great short, enjoyable intro to the 10th & final book in the 'Out Of Uniform' series from Elle.
Loved catching up with the other guys and their partners - it's always fun and a good laugh when they get started! Fingers crossed we'll see more of them in 'As Hot As It Gets'! :D
ALBOH has got me more than ready for Jackson's book..... hopefully that southern charm will work and he'll be able to grab the gal!!!! ;-)
A teaser for the next story, where we learn of the dating disasters of our hero and get to see where he meets the woman he wanted, and she turns him down. He then becomes determined to win her over, and it ends. Cue buy the next book, and I hate it when things like this happen - this whole story should be the first chapter of the next book......
Granted this is just a little tease, a short look at Jackson before he gets his own book. But I have to admit I found myself chuckling throughout the entire thing at some of his mishaps and the dates from hell he had on his way to finding Ms. Right.
I can't wait to read As Hot As It Gets! If this short is any indication of what's to come, it'll be a great and entertaining read.
This was like 15 pages long and just a little sneak peek of what is to come. I found this one pointless. We could have learned all this info in the next book.
I rank it slightly above a one if only because his interaction with the other Seals was pretty funny.
