Jane and the gang are going along with their normal routine of trying to run a haunted house when disaster strikes. If there could be a silver lining to a murder, at least this one didn’t happen on the grounds of Haunted Bluff Mansion. Still, a vampire is dead, and Jane has been asked to investigate. It’s her first proper case, and she doesn't want to screw it up. Unfortunately, given that she’s a member of the Garbo family, problems are bound to arise.
Besides having to cope with her loved ones, Jane has to contend with the fact that Grant Hastings, the most famous warlock investigator in the world, is also on the case.
Can she use her investigative powers to find out who killed the vampire before it's too late?
Hello! I'm the author of the Witch Way to Mintwood series and the Spooky Business series! I live in New England and love it. I survive the winter by layering, good-natured complaining, and more layering. In case you were wondering. Hearing from readers is always lovely, so come visit me here:
An absolutely OTT brilliant zany romp. Very tongue in cheek but filled with humour. When someone leaves a magical spindle (sure death for a witch) outside the gates for Cookie and a vampire is killed the girls have to get their act together. Jane is asked to investigate the vampire's death. Then a member of the household is suspected of leaking stories to the Down Below paper. Can they find out who killed the vampire, who left the spindle and the people involved with the paper (the author and the source)? Whilst Jane also tries to get some dates in with her handsome wizard. Fast paced, zany, snarky, humorous read that you will fly through.
Spooky Spindle (Jane Garbo Mysteries Book 4) was written by Addison Creek. Each of the outside jobs that Jane has wanted or tried she hasn't been able to keep. Her grandmother used magic to make sure that she lost all of her jobs in New York. Her mother won't let her go off with the guys and the cousin she doesn't like to recruit more supernaturals for the haunted house. So, when the chance to do real detective worker comes up she jumps at the opportunity. Overall, the series arch is slowly being revealed. Will we find out what actually happened to Jane's dad... maybe? Hopefully? Will Jane do actual magic for more than a scene or two per novel... not sure.
This one was a bit boring for me. Probably my least favorite so far but it wasn't bad. Extra points taken off for bad editing, yet again.
Jane is actually hired to solve a mystery and it goes terribly wrong for her.
I love the hijinks that Jane, Pep, and Lark get into! Jane wants to be a detective but she also seems kind of incapable of solving a mystery without her cousins. That kind of bothers me.
She became a liason for the Down Below which makes things interesting. Especially when someone down there is writing bad things about her family in the Spooky Times.
This budding romance is one heck of a slooooooow burn. This was the 4th book and they are just now talking about a 3rd date. They've maybe kissed twice. Lol. They are super adorable though and I love them.
I love the whole family really, minus Lizzie, but she's really the one you love to hate.
Witch Jane Garbo is getting enthused about her new positions within the Haunted Mansion. Also, she gets a job investigating a murder at famous Warlock, Edmund's mansion.
Just as her romance with handsome Warlock, Grant Hastings seems to be advancing, The Root Of All Evil returns and the two end up battling the Undead.
Jane involves her two cousins and Grandmother, Cookie in another mystery...who is writing and leaking information for a newsletter, 'The Spooky Times?'
This book is a good mystery and full of fun. I usually find myself laughing out loud at the dialog.
I was surprised at first, but knowing the Garbos means nothing is as it seems. I wasn't really surprised by who the snitch was, but Old Leslie caught me off guard. Grant can be a stitch sometimes, and his instant gear change fit right in (don't know what I mean? -Read the book!) Hahaha!
Jane has to discover who sent a spindle to them. She also has to solve the murder of a vampire. Grant and she go on a nice date. I like how they are becoming closer. Jane faces danger from a new supernatural. The Spooky Times, meanwhile, is causing the Garbo family problems with their latest articles about the family. The humor and action are great.
This was a good 4 th book but I am wondering when the family decided that she was and investigator and detective? The Last book I thought her mother said no! And the ending seemed kind of odd rushed or an afterthought or something.

The author just keeps getting better and better. More showing of action and thought process than telling. I really enjoy Grant and Jane's relationship. I just really like Grant lol
Book four in this series did not disappoint me. It was great reading with the addition of more interesting characters. I'm looking forward to reading book five.
This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
