Maria never expected to fall in love with a man she’d never met, but she can’t wait to get to her laptop every night to chat with Bobwhite67. She would be happy to focus on getting to know him better, but her two jobs and two sons keep her ridiculously busy. Then there’s her ex-husband’s bookie, who’s impatiently waiting for the last couple payments on his debt. Bret can't understand why Maria puts up a wall between them, but when he realizes that she's the woman he's been messaging online, he's determined to make her change her opinion of him.
This was based on one of my favorite movies, You've Got Mail, I've lost count how many time I've watched that show! This was a fun retelling, I liked that it was similar to the movie, yet did its own thing. I thought it was fun that Bret and Maria actually worked together and had no idea they were corresponding with each other on the side. Overall, it was a cute story.
It’s always really fun to read a book based off a movie that you love. This one is based off the classic You’ve Got Mail. Heather Tullis did a great job with her own take on the story. It’s set in one of my favorite towns, Echo Ridge. That makes it fun, because a lot of the characters are familiar and so is the town.
I really loved Maria in this one. I loved her sense of duty and honor. She’s working so hard at two jobs to keep herself and her two sons afloat all while also paying back her ex-husband’s gambling debts. Holy cow! There’s no way I’d pay off anyone’s gambling debts. I can see why she felt she had to to protect herself and her sons. It was so fun that she’s emailing back and forth with a man she’s never met. And of course, it ends up being someone she already knows.
I loved Bret. The way he tried to watch out for and help Maria out, especially after he found out that his online friend was Maria, was one of my favorite things about this book.
This was a really cute novella loosely based on the movie You've Got Mail. I enjoyed the characters and this was a sweet, clean romance. I read this as part of a set.
This was a very cute entertaining read. Maria is trying to raise her two sons & pay off a debt her ex-husband bailed on. She’s working two jobs & doesn’t have time for anything of her own. So how does she suddenly have feelings for two guys?
Brett can’t believe it when he figured out his email pal was Maria. He started trying to spend time with her. As they start discovering feelings, he can’t figure out how to tell her without her getting mad.
Brett & Maria are a cute couple. She’s really serious and worried about her responsibilities. Brett makes her remember she needs to show her boys you can have fun too. The sparks & chemistry are apparent between them. I love the interactions between Brett & Maria’s boys. They show that he likes the boys for themselves, not just because he’s trying to get on Maria’s good side. Very good read!
This was a fun take on a story along the lines of the movie “You’ve Got Mail”. Maria and is an example of what I love in a strong female character. She has faced troubling times and rather than just giving up she looks those troubles in the eye and shows them who is boss. She works so hard to provide for her sons and to keep them safe. Bret’s last relationship ended with him feeling heartbroken. He is such a great guy and I loved reading the things he figured out to do to make a positive impression on Maria. I only wish there were more pages so we could get to know Maria’s sweet boys.
You've Got Mail is one of my all-time favorite movies, so finding this book was quite a delight! Heather has written a great story using fun ideas from the movie, but with her own take. The characters a real and have real struggles. I don't know why a bookie would find the family rather than hunt down the loanee, but I do admire the type of person Maria is. She is hard working and determined to always do her best, including being a good mom. I love that there is attrction between Maria and Bret both in person and online. They get to know several aspecs of each other's personality and life before putting everything together.
This book was a cute take on the old "Shop Around the Corner" and "You've Got Mail" movies. Maria is trying to make ends meet and pay off her ex-husband's bookie by working two full time jobs when she meets a guy online that makes everything seem brighter. Little does she know she might actually know her online friend in person. I enjoyed reading this book, and even finished it in two days. I think it would have been interesting if the bookie came more into play to rise the suspense. Overall it was a great read.
I liked this fun story based on the movie You’ve Got Mail. Maria is working two jobs to pay off the debt her ex-husband accrued with his gambling debt. She also has two young sons ages six and seven. During her downtime she sends emails to a guy she met on a dating website. It was fun and interesting to find out who the guy was that she thought she might be in love with and what might happen. I received a copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This sweet contemporary romance is much like the movie "You've Got Mail". This is one of my favorite movies and I really enjoyed this book. I liked the twists in the story line that kept it fresh and interesting. It is well written. I loved Maria and Bret. I love the characters from this authors other books that make small appearances in this book.
These two week so good together even though they don't know it at the beginning. She is one tough mama. She has had it rough but has made it through. They work through the ups and downs. Love her kids and this town.
An interesting take on the current dating environment. This is a great beach read. I was gifted this book as an arc. I voluntarily give my review. This is my honest review
