Damon lived in ten towns while growing up, but Echo Ridge is one of the few that started to feel like home before his parents relocated their family again. Now a widower, moving back to the small ski resort town is irresistible for him—but somewhat less so for his daughter, Maggie. Learning that Haley, the girl who had gotten away, is back in town is an unexpected bonus. When Haley left a high-powered job in New York City to take care of her grandmother, she never expected to run into the boy she’d been crushing on sixteen years earlier. When they end up working together on the homecoming float, she finds the attraction between them just as compelling as before. But when given a choice, will she give him her heart, or leave love behind to return to her job in the city?
I didn't really care for this book. I didn't think the main characters really had any chemistry and it came off as a bit boring for me. I have liked a couple of Heather's other books though, so I will be back for more.
Sweet, entertaining story! Damon worked hard to provide for his family but after he lost his wife in an accident, he regretted it. He should have spent more time with her & their daughter. His daughter acted out & was sentenced to community service. He decided to move back to the only town where he felt at home. He didn’t anticipate running into the girl that got away.
Haley left her career in New York to come home & take care of her grandmother. She’s beginning to suffer from dementia & Haley wants her to stay in her home as long as possible. She’s been waitressing to make money while helping some of the businesses with ideas. She didn’t expect to develop feeling nag for the guy from high school that left.
I loved these characters. Damon’s daughter, Maggie, could be a pain but also could be sweet. Your heart had to go out to her, even as you wanted to shake her for her attitude. Haley & Damon seemed like a good couple even though their communication was lacking. This was a sweet romance that managed to get their feelings across without being explicit. Good story!
I am really enjoying the Echo Ridge books. This is another great installment with a strong woman finding her way through the troubles life throws her way. I love that Haley deals with very human emotions and reactions. She wonders if she is good enough... can she take care of Gran well enough, can she make it in a business of her own, can she fit into a new life? I found Maggie to be delightful and irritating as every 12 year old should be. I love that Damon has come to realize that spending time with his family should be more important than making money and he trying to make that happen, for his daughter as well as himself. All in all this is a great book with people dealing with real life situations and the angst that comes with those situations. Plus there is some sweet romance and a few toe tingling kisses to go with it!
When Haley gives up her dream job and moves back to her hometown to care for her grandmother, she gets stuck in a job she hates and has no intent of making the situation permanent. Then Damon moves back to town with his daughter. He was the guy she almost had a relationship with in high school. Could he change her mind about her future? One thing I really enjoy about these books are the different points of view. In this story you read from both Haley and Damon's point of view so it's interesting to see the different perspectives. This was a sweet love story and a quick read. I would recommend it to anyone who just wants to read a good clean love story.
This book spoke of the importance of family. Damon and his daughter, Maggie moved to Echo Ridge for a fresh start after Maggie had gotten into some trouble with her friends. She had lost her mom fifteen months ago.
Haley, was the high school girl that had gotten away because Damon's family had moved once again but he had never forgotten the town or the girl. It was nice to see them catch up with their lives and their dreams. Haley was taking care of her grandmother and working part time but she had put her dreams on hold. The great thing about dreams is that they are always changing.
I read this one awhile back and guess I didn't review it, I remember enjoying it and thinking it was cute. I love long lost love stories....don't love when you throw a child from a previous marriage or whatever into the mix but overall it was cute.
Moral Note: Don't recall anything but it was a bit ago...
Loved it! I loved all of these wonderful characters. I loved all the hard decisions that had to be made and how they were made. This was the sweetest of romances.
This contemporary romance is well written. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. The story moves steadily and quickly. I love happy endings!
I definitely enjoyed this book and seeing Damon and Maggie reconnect. Having known each other in high school for a short time, you could tell immediately their connection. Great book!
A wonderful book showing some very compassionate individuals. I loved the way these two gave up their path to help a family member only to find that it was the perfect path for them
Being able to write the emotion and deliberation is a gift. You feel much of what the characters feel, though not enough to be stressed out in their stressful situations. Second chances at love are rare and sweet, and Damon and Haley are great. They fit together well and I love that they want to find the best thing for all of them.
