The Kings #13

The Time King

Rate this book
William Balthazar Solan has ruled for eons beyond imagining, always alone as he watches over the spaces between the seconds. But thousands of years ago, Fate created a very special woman. In her William saw a different kind of history, and a rule that was not alone.
Her name was Helena. They fell in love.
But Fate wasn’t finished. Helena is only half of its design. The other half is a six-foot-six blond with cold blue eyes and a taste for blood, Helena’s blood in particular.
His name is Cain.
William and Helena have spent the last few millennia locked in a terrible loop of love and loss as they struggle to be together in the face of a formidable darkness bent on possessing Helena for himself.
But now the chessboard has been turned, the pieces moved. Universes have collided, dimensions have slammed together, and in this new world Fate has no power. This is William’s chance to finally set things right.
All he has to do is convince a woman who doesn’t know or trust him that she’s his long lost love, stop ancient and powerful enemies from destroying the entire planet, and keep Cain from sinking his teeth into Helena all over again.
And unfortunately, in this new world William is also running out of time.

The Time King is the highly anticipated, breathlessly awaited thirteenth and final installment of The Kings series, by NYT and USA Today bestselling paranormal romance author, Heather Killough-Walden.

Awesome

These books are so good. I've never been excited for a spin-off series as I was for these. I loved how she blended one into another. Now she has done it again. Onto the next adventure.

Wow

The best ending and beginning to a story. When I first started reading this series I thought it was going to be just another girl meets boy they fall in love and get married, but man was I surprised. Can’t what for the new series

What a Conclusion!

I have so loved this entire series. Fierce women able to stand on their own - stronger together. Heather did not disappoint on this “ending”. The start I was too sure I wasn’t too sure I was following this book. But time is a twisty thing. And, as with all her books, I couldn’t put it down. A satisfying conclusion, and something new to look forward to you. If you’ve not read the Kings Series - get started!

Amazing

Outstanding. Kept me reading and could not stop. Twists I did not anticipate, great new characters, all sorts of details wrapped up, and then the slow, torturous lead up to learn that there is more coming!
Well done, Heather!

Powerful ~Action ~Suspense~ and of course Romance!!

Oh what does one say when one of your favorite authors ends a series you have been reading for years??
Thank you Heather for an amazing series!
The Time King answers all the questions we have been wondering and does so with a lot of suspense and action. This was a great read because when you finish you feel good with how it all ends, yet it opens up other doors for some characters we recently got to know in prior books for her next series. I am excited to see what Heather comes up with next as her books never disappoint.

I liked it. I really did, but there were some things that were extremely off putting for me. William, the last king to get his women; I always thought of him as a charming, sexy, British, roguish gentlemen wearing tailored clothes and tattoos running up his arms, but in this book they described him as more of a gentle giant with a surprising hint of cruelty which in my opinion seems out of character. I still love him, but I liked how he was described in the previous books.

Helena was okay. Kind, beautiful, strong; just like the rest of the 12 Queens. Some of what I didn't liked in this book was the info dumping on her before we even got to meet her.

There was no point in denying it anyway. No heterosexual man on the planet would have found her anything but beautiful. Hell, she was smoking, painfully hot. Strong, capable. And she was also ethereal and delicate. She was graceful and fast and street smart but good and, well, there was frankly no way to describe her. There wasn't even an explanation for how he had come to the conclusion that she was all the things he knew she was. -Harley's thoughts

Extremely off putting, it kind of ruined the surprise for me. I would've liked to have gotten to know her through out the book and not just all in one chapter :( Basically a lot of telling before we even got to the showing.

There was a lot of info dumping in this book that took away the enjoyment of the plot, such as the info on Helena, kind of William and Liam too, and especially the monsters that came from the Dark World-that took a few pages too many in my opinion; I didn't understand why it was relevant to the plot. There were a bit too much plot holes in the series and characters who I thought were important but were cast aside into nothing. It left me unsatisfied.

Some of the things I did like was Time. I found it fascinating how Time could create other worlds, other dimensions and converge the real world and another world to make a new world, changing the course of history and giving birth to new supernatural beings. Time is probably the greatest power of all. William might as well could've been the Universe King instead of the Time King; the strongest of them all. I actually even like how William was able to steal away the Queens for awhile and the Kings were left brooding and mad and scratching their heads thinking who could've done it?

The Time King was the last of the King Series and I am sad that HKW chose not to add a 14th book to the series; I would've liked the return of the Gargoyles. But I am looking forward to her new series Monsters starring Cain and his motorcycle brothers. Knowing her, we probably won't have to wait long.

Check out some of my highlights and notes up above ;)

Enjoyed the series and was looking forward to The Time King getting his own book... But Ms Killough-Walden left me confused in the first few chapters of the books as she went back in time to Williams and Helena to 1918, then had chapter where it seemed like Evie D'Angelo was writing William Solen's story, then she decided that her readers could figure out her plot holes for her instead as she couldn't; and made Time and William Balthazar Solen two separate entities.... Huh! I thought William Solen was time?...

She went through a whole spiel about William Balthazar Solen coming into existence as time itself. No birth, just being who he his, Cronos... Time. Then she introduce Death, Julian Hush - who is Cain - who is imprisoned, but is meeting with a P.I werewolf and searching for Helena. Confused much? I sure was! Then her pointless, detailed explanation of the Multiverse, the inbetween, and the Dark world creatures. Her flimsy explanation of Cain & Abel being the First Vampires (really!). Her anticlimactic demise of the "A team."

I could go on, but read it for yourselves and prepare for the confusion, characters that go nowhere or flop in this final instalment that left me saying "Meh, what a let down!"

I could only rate it a 3* only because it had moments that it could have been a good read.

What can i say?...........not a lot really because i can't give anything away.

Everything comes together in this final book of the series. I am glad it has lived up to everything i was hoping it would be. All T's crossed and I's dotted, no cliff-hanger ending.....thank goodness.

There are emotional losses, brave heroes, all types, (and i mean every type) of supernatural creatures working together to save the world!! Sounds dramatic i know, but in this fictional fantasy series anything and everything could happen......and it did.

This series has been a proper binge read for me and i have been ploughing through them on a daily basis.

Over-all i would sum up my impression of the series as: Some are better than others but all of them were enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this series as it has given me hours and hours of pleasure.

Heather Killough-Walden put all of this series on a special offer for the people on lock-down, making no money i am sure, my day to day did not change but i still took advantage of her offer. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for your kind hearted offer.

They say "The end is always the best part", "You save the best for last", or my personal favorite "The end is not the end but a new beginning." After reading this book all of those sayings can be found here and I have to say wow what a way to end something but not. I cannot imagine the thought process it must have taken to end this particular series the way Ms. Walden did and still manage to not end it lol. William the elusive king and the woman he chased for millennia Helena seems like the fitting end couple for this series and my 3rd favorite book. Now that I have read all 13 books I can say I loved everyone but I have five favorites Ill list them at the end. This story was at once a completion of a story started in the previous series and the culmination of a vision by our favorite witch and at the same time a new beginning. This was a loose end that was finally added to the many stories we have already read. I cannot wait to see if we have more coming in the incredible world that Ms. Walden has so successfully created.

My faves of this series:
1. The Unseelie King
2. The Nightmare King
3. The Time King
4. The Vampire King
5. The Dragon King

This is the last book in the King Series. I would recommend reading all of the books in order, because the next book in the series always starts off where the last one left off. As far as this book It started off where the last one left off but, it when on into a whole different area. there where times in the book I found myself am I reading the wrong book because there were characters that I have never read beout before and it did not make any sense. BUT they everything starts coming together and it all starts making sense. It turns out to be a very well thought out story. it just takes a little time to put it all together. but when it does, hold on because it all comes together very fast and very well. I know the author has stated a spin off of the series. but, it is hard to believe the series has come to the end.
I most likely will reread the series from the beginning again. it should go a lot quicker this time now that I have all of the books.

The end?

As expected this chess game was won not from one but thirteen Queens... But even if I knew it from book 1, I still enjoyed the description of these wonder worlds in the Multiverse that Heather Killough Walden created for us. I do not want to say anything about the story other than the heroes are typical Heather; men with green or blue eyes and dark hair, redheads with temper and weird colored eyes her heroins, all of them passionate and irrevocably in love with their destined soulmate.
The only thing that I have to underline is an excessive and not quite right use of the world miasma that is repeated nine times in the book or as much as tomatoes in Italian kitchen. Other than that, the king of time and his queen deliver the closure we were waiting for and made the introduction of a very hot monster biker...

AWESOME!!! MUST READ!

Hi guys! Ok so lemme tell you this was one helluva ride!!! 13 books all different all connected, I've laughed, cried, been upset, you name it I've felt it. Heather has a way of making you think you're part of the book. All the characters the emtions ups and downs rounds and round you feel it all. This series is wonderful!! If you wanna start from the beginning start with the Big Bad Wolf Series. Then you'll know all the players. I can't say enough about this book! Heather, her witt charm, and way she writes it's all great and you feel like sitting with a friend. I couldn't read them fast enough and almost died waiting on the next in the series but now they all are published and out there so you won't have that problem ;) if looking for a grand adventure then this is the one!!! Have fun hang on and enjoy the ride!!!!!! ❤️💓💕💖💗💞💟❣️💝

The Kings have been a difficult road recently and I have to admit I was pretty ready for the final story. I was feeling like I had to read this just to have closure and wasn't really looking forward to it. Imagine my surprise when the story dragged me in! This is one of the best in the series and was a great way to conclude everything and make me want another taste. The final showdown with all the queens was a bit too much for me, it was more like oh queen A was doing this and queen B was doing this and C was over here doing this and it didn't really add to the story line. It seemed like she was obligated to give each queen (and king) a sentence or two because it was always supposed to be the 13 women coming together to end things. Still the ending was completely satisfying and a definite step up from the last few books. Nice job.

We finally get the wrap up to lots of things. The Time King will get his Queen (not find her, cos he did that a long time ago), all the Queens will disappear and send their Kings into a frenzy. A new bad guy will show up to try to get William's Queen Helena away from him. He will end up being the first son of our not-so-favorite couple. There will be battles galore. Join in the fun.

I was very interested to read the Spanish Flu information at the beginning of the book. As this book was published long before the current Covid crisis it was fascinating to read about the similarities between how China acted now with how the US acted then, yeah true story. It was also sad to read that more people died of that flu than died in both World Wars put together.

Can't wait to get a chance to start the Monsters series.

The last of ‘The Kings’ series.

This is William the Time King’s story. He’s been the mysterious one throughout this series, so we finally learn what he’s all about.

At least, I hope we do. The beginning is so mixed up I had a hard time figuring out who’s who, what they’re doing and where. In fact a lot of it was so disjointed that it felt like a weird dream. It wasn’t until the end that it started to make sense. Then it started to get really interesting.

Footnote: 1) there’s a basically whole new set of character types thrown into the mix which I’m wondering could be the start of a new series.

Fave scenes: the Kings in the cavern, fixing the Mustang, Pi in Purgatory, the Queen’s bubbles and Cain’s chance.

End of The Kings - What an ending!

This book started slowly for me. I started it a few months ago and just finished tonight. I got confused as to why the Time King acted as he did. It wasn’t until I read more of the book that I understood the different dimensions aspect.

The main heroine is strong and tough just like the other Queens. She survives on her own but once she joins her King, their powers truly mesh and strengthen.

The ending was surprising yet not too surprising. I’m not going to spoil it for anyone. I did enjoy how Heather wrapped up the battle scene.

Looking forward to reading the next spin-off series.

All great things must come to an end. I have followed this series from the beginning. One of a kind and spectacular are just a couple ways to describe it. I loved the way everyo e came together in the end and I'm estactic that new doors have been opened.
There's really not much more I feel needs to be said the books speak foe themselves. Heather is superb, the stories she creates will be blow expectations away. So read them and enjoy! I know I did and can't wait for what she throws at us next.

A truly amazing book

Heather Killough-Walden has hit a Grand slam with this book. There is so much that is going on in The Time King that it probably needs to be read twice just to take it all in. As I sit here trying to write this review the main thing that comes to mind is WOW. I am in awe of the talent required to write something so complex but grabs you from the very beginning and doesn't let go. I anxiously await the next series that will bring together new characters and old.

William Solan's time is up. The Time King is the last of the 13 kings to finds his queen, despite having known who she was all along. After William's deal with Time is broken, he must take drastic action to protect the other 12 queens and, ultimately, win over his own. 13 queens will stand against the Triad. Love will be tested, Loyalties will shift. And, a new history will be written.
If you are a PNR/urban fantasy fan, this series is a must read.

I’m amazed at how Heather weaved it all together to put some spin, hope and promise to the culmination of the King’s series. Colliding, breaking old worlds apart to form new...Time is a teacher and more. For some, time in its infinity is never enough... for others there’s too much. Time is what one makes out if it, and love conquers death; in human life & a multitude of universes filled with time colliding, exploding and rebuilding... with a promise of hope and faith to endure.

Brilliant

You know whatever Heather Killough-Walden writes is going to be fantastic. This lady has the ability to get you so caught up in the story it's really hard to put the book down. This one was a lot longer than the rest of the books in the series but it definitely needed it for the story to be told. A fantastic book to end the series and I can't wait to see what else she has in store . A well deserved 5 stars

Wow, what a book!!!
I have loved each of the kings books. Heather you are an amazing writer, each book has been an amazing journey with unpredictable twists and The Time King was no different.
Unfortunately I am no writer so I cannot eloquently express how much I loved this book, but it was awesome.
I dragged this book out as long as I could as I knew it was the finale in the series and I didn’t want finish it.
I look forward to your next books!

Time King

I gave this book 3 stars because this book was all over the place. I mean this book was very hard to read. I get that it is the final book but I can truly say it was my least favorite. I am glad however that the series has another story coming out of it. I have read the Big Bad series before this one and I don't see any reason to not read the next. All in all I am sad that it's over though because I did love the series.

The Time King is book 13 in the Kings series, it is also the final book in the series. This was one of the best paranormal series I've read, it is absolutely one of my top 5. All of the books in this series are a 5 star read. The Time King and Helena's story was pure perfection. The final book wrapped up the 13 kings and queens stories. I really hated to see this series end, so I'm sure I'll be rereading this series. If you are a paranormal junkie, like me, this is a must read!!

Totally Five Stars Series

Loved It! At first it was hard to get into the story but as I kept reading, it finally started to get more interesting and intense. Loved how all the kings, and their queens came together to battle evil to safe humanity! I'm sorry to see the series end but happy that they all found their happy ending and so ready for the new spinoff, Monsters. Highly recommended series and keep them coming.
