First, hate. Then, want. But in the end? Heartbreak.

My celebrity life was supposed to be easy, and this movie was the biggest break of my career. But from the moment Officer Levi Fox gave me a speeding ticket on my way into town, he’s been nothing but a thorn in my side.

Dominant. Cocky. Callous.
Midnight blue eyes, a bad attitude, and muscles for days, he’s exactly the kind of man I should avoid.

But as the Cold, Montana Police Department’s official movie liaison, he’s taken up a permanent place in my life that I can’t shake.

We fight. A lot.

Then, we kiss—and my carefully crafted hate toward him no longer feels so much like hate.

I’m falling
falling
falling.
But how often do alpha-jerks cushion the landing?

Note: Levi and Ivy’s story will continue in Book Two—Cold.

4.5 stars!

Review at Of Pens and Pages.

Max Monroe delivered something different but still so juicy and addicting! I had no idea what I was getting into when I got the ARC, but wow was I sucked right in. The first book in the trilogy was dark, promising, and now that I've finished it, I need to get my hands on Cold and Fox ASAP!

Cold, Montana's peace and quiet was disturbed by something they'd all rather forget, but six years later, Hollywood forces them to relive it. A serial killer, four victims, and one officer who sacrificed her life to catch the killer.

Officer Levi Fox wants nothing to do with the film production but the Chief certainly doesn't think so. In the end, he was assigned to be the film's liaison. He'd have to stick close to the cast and crew, especially to the actress playing his old partner Grace. But just because his Chief told him to do it doesn't mean he'll make it easy for her, no matter how gorgeous and irresistible she is.

Ivy Stone, the lead actress, wants to give justice to her character, Officer Grace Murphy, but with the liaison being difficult—he doesn't even hide his hate—she'll have to be creative in getting to know her character. He'll get mad at her no matter what she does anyway. She wants to know about Grace and the man who held her in his arms as she died. Levi was Grace's partner, and as much as Ivy wants to stay away, she can't help but want to know him.

I wanted to punch Levi and pull him close and jump him. An alpha through and through, this man. Brooding, mysterious, and has a presence that commands the whole room. He has demons he needs to face, and he makes some decisions that honestly made me so frustrated. The half-crescent marks on my palm are a testament to that. But, I can see why Ivy can't stay away. He's hot AF, mysterious, and I mean, a guy in uniform??? Hello.

Despite it's darker aura, there is still the signature Max Monroe humor I came to love. It blended perfectly with the mystery, intense sexual chemistry, and banter between the characters. The pacing was perfect, the whole story intriguing, and the book hard to put down!

I am itching to find out about Grace, I want to know more about the Cold-Hearted Killer, and most of all, I want to know what happens to Ivy and Levi. They have a love story seemingly bound to end in heartbreak, but I know there's something there.

I can't wait to read the rest!!! If you're looking for a smalltown Hollywood romance mixed with mystery and suspense, you'll enjoy reading Stone by Max Monroe!

Tropes: Celebrities—Actress, Hate to Love, Small Town
POV: First Person, Dual POV

Brooding, rude, ruthless, disturbing inexcusable mean a$$hole, who treated an apparently strong and cool woman like shit. And she, despite trying to convince the readers and I guess herself to be a strong and independent woman, was crushing on him/a policeman officer, who surely had problems with alcohol, and, don't forget, treated her like a disposal piece of plastic, but she just couldn't stop lusting after him, because he:
- was hot
- had damaged past
- was hot

Sorry, but it was pathetic.
I pity every single woman in this world, who is attracted to a man, who treats her like garbage.

And then he flirted with her twin sister and gave her false signals, so the girl attacked him the day after and it caused the scene, where the heroine witnessed her 'prince fuck-charming' kissing her twin sister.

Hell yeah!
Let us celebrate a woman, who would surely find many excuses for a jerk, who insulted her repeatedly, whom she saw sucking tongue with her twin sister, and without any doubt find her HEA with this cringy representative of a male gender, because he
- was hot
- had damaged past
- was hot

Incredible! Hell yeah!!!!

I’ll start this off by saying that Stone is book one of the Stone Cold Fox trilogy. A broody cop acting as a liaison, and a down to earth Hollywood starlet come together reluctantly when a film based on the small town of Cold is being filmed on location. It’s a pretty quick read, told from the POV’s of Ivy and Levi.

What I’ll say next is that this story was way more emotional than I thought it would be. Max Monroe usually gives me funny and quirky romcom, with a dash of emotion. This book was angsty, emotional, and had characters that are way deeper than I was expecting. If you thought Max Monroe wasn’t capable of doing emotional contemporary with some underlying heaviness, then let me correct you they kicked ass with this story.

Levi is moody and a bit broken. You can tell he is just this layered character, and we only chip the surface in this book. Ivy is motivated and genuine, you can really tell she puts her all into things from her actions in this book. When she cares about you she is invested. And together these two have this tension between them from the very minute that they meet, and it only progresses into a subconscious desire for one another. When they finally realize what they are actually feeling other than hate... well it may be a little too late. Max Monroe did is so well with these two. I was so anxious to see what would happen every time they got together.

Clearly this books ends with a to be continued ending, since it’s a trilogy. It definitely ends on a dramatic note, and it had me wanting to pinch some characters and hold others. I’m just so excited to see what comes next from Ivy, Levi, and the small town of Cold.

A few years ago a serial killer killed five girls in Cold, Montana.

And our hero Levi - a cop in town - has now been ordered to be the liaison to the Hollywood movie that's being filmed about the murders in Cold.

There's nothing he hates more than those Hollywood types coming into town to make another spectacle out of what happened. He has some very dark, sad, and personal memories about that time.

Ivy is the lead actress of that movie. She - and her whole film team - are already hated by Levi before they even arrive in town. And then she goes and makes a horrible first impression.

But they have to work together for the next few months!

They kinda hate each other, but at the same time, there's this insane insta-attraction ....

Let the fun times begin!

Eeeep - a surprise Max Monroe series!

description

I had no idea what it was about, but I couldn't wait to get started!!!!

And what can I say? So not surprised, because it's Max Monroe.... I LOVED IT.

It's something a bit different. With all the murders and the serial killer stuff still in the minds of the people of Cold. But of course the love story is the main part of the book. And you'll LOVE Ivy & Levi!

They go from insta-attraction and hate to so much more ... but of course nothing serious can ever happen between a famous actress - who is in town temporary and who is digging into Levi's and the town's past - and a Montana cop with secrets who hates everything Hollywood. Right?

But, of course it can. It will only take us three books to get to that happily ever after! At least I hope we'll get there! ☺

STONE was such an adorable and sad and funny and exciting and moving and snowy Montana story. And a real Hollywood Romance too - even if we're never in California!!
You start reading and bam! You're right there in that icy cold Montana town. I even heard the snow crunch under Levi's boots and smelled the winter air! I just adored this book!

I NEEEEEED to have #2 ASAP!!! I have to know what will happen next!

STONE was such an exciting & adorable & funny & moving & snowy Hollywood romance! Hurry to your nearest amazon asap - LEVI FOX will be sold out in no time!!!

There's a tiny little thing I didn't LOVE-LOVE .... the cover. All three covers. If I would come across them in a bookstore, I would keep on walking. It's a bit ... no idea. The guy is cute, but the colors don't work for me and it's so blurry and not intense enough. I don't like the red and ... I know, I'm weird. I don't even really care about covers - I just love to look at them when they're amazing ... but this book was amazing in itself, so pfffft, don't care about the cover!☺

PLEASE HURRY BOOK #2 - I NEED TO KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!

Complicated and oh so good…

Oh the sweet, sweet tension… I LOVED this first in a trilogy that could only be better if all books in the series were available right now!

“..of all the men on the planet, my body decided to be attracted to the biggest dick of all.”

Ahh, Levi… This strong, sexy as sin police officer is a poster child of tortured confusion. And I do mean tortured. It’s the only word that I can think of for the way he lives in the past, consumed by love, grief, regret, bitterness… He shares that turmoil in so many different ways with Ivy being a frequent target. There are hints all around about what drives him, what haunts him, but I don’t know if we have the full story yet…

Ivy is a feisty heroine who I want to be the best of friends with! She is serious about her craft and cares about those around her. Even when Levi is driving her insane she can’t help but empathize and feel for what he must be going through. Even when he is being, well, a dick.

“That one moment of pussy-to-brain consultation had been enough to slam on the brakes.”

Together they are gold…

Seriously! The back and forth between them runs the gamut from barely restrained hostility to sexual tension that spills deliciously over. At times, they are awkward and uneasy. Others, they are serious and brooding. There is also loving and caring in between the arguments that blew hot and cold. Bonds were building but will they keep them together or pull them apart….

This gem finished in a cliffhanger that brought the emotions way, way up and then…. Brought me back to reality with a ‘coming soon’. Cruel, so cruel…. Bring on book two! ~Diane, 5 stars

ARC received for an honest review

A new Max Monroe series, and a surprise one at that - woohoo!

I didn't know what to expect when Stone turned up on my kindle, but I dived right in and I didn't emerge until I had finished reading. I was all in right from the start.

Levi and Ivy's story really shows that there is a fine line between love and hate. They are full of snark and bite, but underneath it all there is the pull of attraction.

Stone is not full of all the fun and laughter of their previous series, it is darker and sadder, but it is just as amazing.

Levi and Ivy had me wanting, hoping they can fight their way to a HEA. And just when you think it might be going to happen.

BAM! We are cliffhangered - but that's OK, it is only a few weeks until the second book comes out. Delayed gratification and all that jazz!

Can't wait for Cold - bring on April 22nd!

4.5 STARS!
He was tortured, and I was the salve. I just had to dance to his lead until he could see the truth. I'd honestly believed that.
SURPRISE! This book was so much better than I was anticipating! It was edgy, angsty, and funny - that's like a trifecta of contemporary awesomeness for me, lol.

Actress Ivy Stone arrives in Cold, Montana, to shoot a movie about the tragic true story of a female cop who stopped a serial killer in the small town not so long ago. Not everyone wants the movie to be made, including Officer Levi Fox:
Hollywood was really making a movie based on something that had happened in my life. No doubt, the worst experience of my life. One I still hadn't found closure from.
Levi is forced to be the police liaison for the movie and that means helping Ivy out with her research for the role. Ivy is taken aback by the level of hostility Levi shows her.

So, it's no secret that I adore an enemies to lovers story . . . and this one really delivered, especially because Ivy didn't let Levi tear her down. She easily held her own and then some.
He might've been a hot as fuck alpha cop, even when he was so obviously hungover, but he was also the dick who welcomed me to Cold, Montana with . . . (sorry, no spoilers :-)
Together, these two were explosive! Honestly, they had some of the best 'I loathe you, but I want you so bad' scenes I've ever read. And the way their 'relationship' contrasted so sharply with the small-town setting and their interactions with other characters was really well done; it made the events near the end of the story that much more potent. Be prepared for some great angst-filled moments.

Plus, as an added bonus, the narrative was peppered with humor that I found laugh-out-loud funny:
Through the glass behind her, I could see that ninety percent of the whopping five desks in the pit were empty.

Wait? That would mean there was half a guy, wouldn't it? Whatever, I'm bad at math. There's only one cop working.
I also loved that even though the reader knows generally what happened all those years ago with the serial killer, specifically what happened to have affected Levi so deeply is only doled out in bits and pieces. I have my suspicions, but I can honestly say I'm not sure.

If you're into the following, this book is definitely for you:
==> enemies to lovers
==> sex-on-a-stick brooding alpha hero
==> self-possessed, strong-willed heroine
==> MC's from 'different worlds'
==> angst, humor, and/or mystery
But . . . WARNING: this is a trilogy, and this installment ends on a mild cliffhanger. All 3 parts will be out by May. I can't wait!!

"Years of my life I'd spent as a walking zombie, but after a couple of weeks with Ivy Stone in town, comfortably numb was a memory. I was angry. I was charged. I was passionate. I was vibrant again. I was living. And she was the reason."

I've been wanting to read Max Monroe's books for some time now and decided to take the plunge after Deanna and Cristina were both raving about Stone. Stone is the first book in the Stone Cold Fox Trilogy and I'm just warning y'all now that if you hate cliffhangers, you might want to hold off until all three books release so you don't have to suffer through the wait.

Stone is a romantic suspense novel that takes place in Cold, Montana. The town suffered a great loss after a serial killer took the lives of five women and now they are forced to relive the tale when Hollywood decides to make a film based on the events of these brutal murders. Ivy Stone, a fiery red-head and the lead actress in the film, wants to do her best to accurately portray the officer who lost her life to expose a murderer and who better to help her get into the role than Officer Levi Fox. Only problem, neither Ivy or Levi can stand one another so working together will be easier said than done.

This book had me hooked from the start. I ended up finishing it in 24 hours because my ass needed the tea on what actually went down with these murders, although we didn't get much since this author duo needs to drag out the mystery for two more books. But nonetheless, the story is still gripping and you may throw your eReader a few times. I loved Ivy. I expected her to be a little uppity, but she is actually super down to earth and I loved the fact that she genuinely cared for how Officer Grace was killed. I have a love/hate relationship Levi. That man urked my nerves with his broody ways, but he is still mourning the loss of his partner and best friend so I'll cut him some slack. He better get his shit together in the next book though or I will fight. The romance is a love-to-hate and is angsty as hell with a dash of steam and I can't wait to see what happens between two in the next book. I eagerly anticipate the release of Cold and Fox so I can see which of my theories are right and to see how things play out for Levi and Ivy.

Take a second and use brain bleach. Forget everything you know about Max Monroe.

I received an ARC for number 2 in this series Cold... which I will most definitely be starting as soon as I am finished with this review because book, (this one), Stone, ends with a bit of a cliffy and gah... my heart is a bit wounded.

OK, so, I recommended that you forget what you know about the writing duo of Max Monroe, because this book has a bit of a different flair than the typical laugh out loud rom-com brilliance of Georgia and Kline, or Thatch and Cassie in their Bad Boy Billionaires series...

This book, while still as well-written as we all have come to expect from all of the Max Monroe masterpieces, aims in a slightly different direction than their usual works. Its compass pointing 'due-feels'. A quick read... and the first in a 3 part trio, the angst in this one had me reaching for my normal stand-by, Godiva.

There's a Spotify Soundtrack...woot woot!

He's a bully... you guys know how I feel about them, they're my favorite book boyfriend. But he's a misunderstood jerk... which is *really* my favorite kind. Oh, Levi. Let me love you.

And Ivy Stone, the Hollywood starlet, who wants to do the town of Cold, Montana, right... she's ballsy and pretty much perfect too... except, well...read it.

Review by Lisa Kane

Several years ago, in Cold, Montana girls began disappearing. And then showing up dead. The serial killer was dubbed, The Cold-Hearted Killer. Officer Grace Murphy became obsessed with finding the killer. The fascination with this case attracted the higher up’s in Hollywood. Cut to the present: actress Ivy Stone has the role of Grace Murphy. She’s spending time on location trying to get a feel for the young girl’s life. What motivated her, who she was, how she fit in to the events that happened.

Grace Murphy had been one of the detectives on the case. She had been young, late-twenties, and if it hadn’t been for her act of bravery, Walter Donald Gaskins might still be prowling the streets for new unsuspecting female victims.

Grace’s partner on the force was Levi Fox. He wants nothing to do with this film but he’s been chosen to be the liaison between the police force and the production crew.

But if there were two things I knew about myself, down to the root, it was this:

I was born to be a cop, and I’d give my life for Cold, Montana.

And someone else already had.

Levi has a chip on his shoulder that’s the size of a boulder. He’s not going to make Ivy’s life easy. She may think he’s hotter than a summer day in Alabama, but his personality sucks.

Call me cliché, but I had a thing for alphas. And Officer Fox was alpha to the max.

Their first run in sets the tone for Ivy’s visit. Things quickly go downhill.

"You asshole.”

Full lips pulled back to bare his teeth as he spat his next words. “Better an asshole than a stuck-up bitch."

Levi Fox is a tough character to like. He is so damaged, one suspects it’s from whatever happened to Grace, and has closed himself off. There’s no special woman in his life, he has sex with woman from the next town over. The last thing he wants is for strangers to presume to know about Grace and her life. He resents Ivy before he even knows her.

Something had to give, and evidently, Levi Fox was only equipped to take.

But Ivy Stone is a good woman, it’s just that Levi doesn’t want to feel again. So he screws up in the worst way. (I had a hard time liking him at this point) The damage is done. Ivy can’t keep letting this guy hurt her.

Stone is part of a three book series, so don’t say you weren’t warned about it being a cliffy. Levi has a whole lot of making up to do. (both to Ivy and to me!) Well have to see how this all plays out.

I needed her. I just wished I would’ve realized it sooner, before now-before I’d destroyed everything.

Stone, the first book in the Stone Cold Fox trilogy, is such a departure from your typical Max Monroe book and I loved it! When you’re used to an author writing in a certain style or genre it’s sometimes hard to switch gears when they “switch gears”, but no such worry with this book!
I was completely intrigued with Ivy and Levi's story, right from the start- I had a hard time putting it down to go about my day. And I am so, so ready to have Cold in my hands.

Stone is emotional, suspenseful, angsty, unexpected, and completely captivating. From the Intro I knew this book was going to be nothing like any of the others I’ve read from this duo before, and it wasn’t. It was even better than I could have hoped or imagined.

When Hollywood takes over small town Cold, Montana, bringing star Ivy Stone into Officer Levi Fox’s orbit, he doesn’t know what’s hit him. Dredging up memories he still can’t come to terms with, Ivy and her movie are the last thing he wants to deal with. There’s nothing more he’d love than for them to pack up and get out of his town. But as the liaison for the police department, he’s stuck having his memories, and the guilt he’s hanging onto, brought up time and time again. As he and Ivy spend more and more time together, she burrows under his skin in a way he can’t shake, as much as he would love to. The chemistry between the two is explosive, and he’s not prepared for the feelings and emotions she brings out in him. It’s really more than either of them can handle.

Since this is a trilogy I’m not giving anything away by saying Stone ends on a cliffhanger. And what a cliffy it is! Ivy and Levi have shared some very intense and very passionate encounters, and their last confrontation leaves them both reeling, wounded, and on edge. I cannot wait to see what Max Monroe has in store for these two in Cold.

5 "I need a Levi Fox in my life" Stars!!!!!!

I’m just going to start off by saying that Max Monroe has become a new favorite author of mine. You might be asking yourself, “hmm, really? But, you’ve only read one book.” And I say to you, "it only takes one, just one book for you to fall." And I've fallen, hard. Max Monroe had been on my radar, but I had yet to read anything by them. So I knew as soon as they mentioned they had something up their sleeve, I just knew it was time to pop my Max Monroe cherry. And yep, as soon as I read the blurb? Done, needed the book ASAP!

Stone is the first book in the Stone Cold Fox trilogy. It's intense and angsty and just so freaking good. It hooked me right from the start, and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. And when I did reach the end I kept clicking to see if I somehow missed pages. Because certainly I had, I mean it couldn't be the end, I wanted more, I neeeeeeeded more.

Levi Fox. What a great name, right? Best part, he's a cop. A very brooding, hot, angry tempered and alpha af cop. *fans self* He intrigued me so much. There was a mystery to him and it had me guessing as to what secrets were he had locked up. Soon he'll have a task of acting as a liaison on a film being shot on location in his small town of Cold, Montana. And the actress that is playing the lead role rattles Levi to the point that has him questioning things he's kept locked away.

Ivy Stone. She was feisty and vivacious. For a famous actress, she wasn't uptight or thought she was better than everybody. She was down to earth and an all around good person. Though, her anger came out when a certain cop got under skin. The dynamic between Ivy and Levi was tantalizing. The chemistry and sexual tension was apparent. These two, ugh, I lived for Ivy and Levi. I need more of them. I want more of them. And I can't wait up get more after how the first book ended.

Max Monroe, give me ALL of your books. I need to devour them all. Can April get her already??? Because I NEED the second book, like yesterday.

This was OVER the top, but like a guilty-pleasure soap opera, I couldn't look away.
I definitely need to know what happens in book 2, because this ends on a major cliff hanger.
Essentially, Ivy is cast as the leading lady in a movie about a town called Cold where a series of murders occurred. She's playing the woman who investigated them, and is in turn set to ingrain herself into Grace's past life, including hanging around her old partner, Levi Fox. But the man is an unmovable block of dick-headedness. There's a bit of the story that leads you to believe they may have been romantically involved, he and Grace, but it isn't set in stone. Needless to say, they were close though, and he's less than thrilled about having Hollywood dig into their lives. Levi and Ivy fight at every turn, trade a few passionate kisses during their fights, and Levi begins to realize that even though Ivy may look like Grace, they're different and he's more drawn to her than anyone before. But, because the man is the epitome of an asshole, he may have done irreparable damage to their budding... whatever it is... and I need to find some absolution with their story.

I started off really enjoying this one, but the further along in the story I got, the less I enjoyed what was happening.
This book is set in Cold, Montana where a serial killer went on a spree 6 years earlier. Ivy Stone is the leading lady set to star as the police officer who stopped said killer, but was also tragically his last victim. To say this is an emotional movie for local cop and former partner, Levi Fox, is an understatement and he is very opposed to the production coming to town and rehashing all his memories and pain.
Of course Levi is assigned to be the liaison between the town and production crew, let's just say sparks certainly fly. Between hateful and angry barbs to heated kisses, these two gave me whiplash.
I think I will be passing on the rest of the series.

I’m so glad Levi and Ivy started calling to Max and Monroe to get their story written!! Levi is the alpha to top all alphas. He’s hard (in more ways than one), he’s mean, and he’s an asshole. Ivy comes off as a little entitled as a young actress, but grows on you quickly. Levi has a story that we don’t really know yet, and Ivy is breaking through that tough outside to learn bits and pieces of it along the way. I’m so excited to see what comes next for these two. I need closure of some sort!! So many feels while reading this rollercoaster. Ending it left my heart in pieces!! I need more!!

4.25 stars. This was a really good book! There were parts that pissed me off but it made me feel strong emotions and I was engrossed in the story. Stone is book one in the Stone Cold Fox trilogy. This is Ivy and Levi's story. Ivy is Hollywood actress and movie star. She is in the small town of Cold, Montana to film a big movie based on a true story that took place there. She is playing the part of Grace, a police woman who solved a case unraveling the mystery of serial killer killing young women in their small town. Grace was killed by the serial killer. The townspeople are happy to have the movie crew in their town memorializing her, and happy to share what they know about Grace and the case. All except for Levi Stone. He was Grace's police partner and he is angry at life, but especially angry that Ivy is there thinking she can do justice to the kind of person Grace was. The police chief names him as liaison for the movie crew, especially to Ivy. He is supposed to answer questions about the case and make sure everything is portrayed correctly. But he hates this job. He judges Ivy before he even knows her and treats her awfully. They spend more and more time together and start to develop feelings for each other, but things are very complicated between them throughout the book.

The story unfolds in a very mysterious way. There are a lot of questions that are unanswered and, even at the end of this book, we are left with more and more questions. We know that Grace was killed by a serial killer that she was investigating, who turned out to be the town doctor and coroner. But we don't know much more than that. There are some clues, but no clear picture yet. A few things point to the fact that Levi may have had a romantic relationship with or feelings towards Grace, but we don't know for sure yet.

This book is different than most of Max Monroe's funny, sexy rom-coms. It is angsty, emotional and suspenseful. I really loved Ivy. She is awesome- a funny, sarcastic, sweet and very real type person. Think Emma Stone. She was serious about her job and that was pretty much all she thought about. Levi, I liked at times , but he pissed me off a lot. He was a very unhappy, messed up person. The death of his police partner and good friend, Grace, really messed him up. He has a huge chip on his shoulder and he hates Ivy on sight. He unfairly judged her and treated her really poorly. He starts to see that Ivy is actually a great person, but he continues to treat her badly. She can see that he is really hurting and she is sympathetic. They have an attraction and share a few kisses (but that's it in this book), only for Levi to pull away again. I understood his behavior because it is obvious he is still wrecked by Grace's death and the movie has made all of his feelings come back tenfold. So I forgave him and thought he was starting to maybe open up to Grace a little. But he does something that is nearly a dealbreaker for me at the end of the book. It is really heartbreaking to read how much that hurts Ivy. It made me really hurt for her. It will be very hard for him to come back from that for me. I am not sure if I can forgive that without some epic grovel. This book does end with a cliffhanger and I was not very happy with how it ended. I really hope that is resolved quickly and done away with soon in the next book. Still, I can't wait to read the next two books in the series because I'm really rooting for these two to get an HEA.

Overall, I liked this book a lot. Stone was emotional, sexy, funny, and suspenseful. There's a lot of good stuff going on in this book, despite a few piss-me-off-moments. I loved the matchy names of Levi and Ivy. I adored Ivy's character. The pace was fast moving and mysterious. I was totally engrossed in the story of Ivy and Levi. I can not wait to find out the rest of their story in Cold and Fox!

Is there anything Max Monroe CAN’T do?!? Stone came out of nowhere and hit me right in the motherfluffing feels! No exaggeration needed, that’s the truth.

I was both surprised and not when it came to this book. Surprised just like everyone else that Max Monroe was releasing a brand-new series within DAYS of announcement, but also not because those two mischievous authors have been known to surprise us before.

Immediately, Stone separates itself from what we’ve read before from the authors. It’s intensely diversified storyline and contrasting characters creates an unparalleled new appreciation for the authors’ talent at storytelling.

The story starts at 100 and doesn’t slow one bit. Conflicting actions and emotions drive the story even higher, eliciting an even more powerful reaction from the reader. Levi and Ivy’s dynamic both together and separate is quite unique and challenging at the best of times. Forced to work together, you’d think they’d resolve whatever unknown differences they have with each other. But when it comes to the broody, enigmatic Levi, he wants nothing to do with Ivy. Secrets and unspoken feelings tear at their already unsteady relationship, proving that no matter how hot and fierce their chemistry may be, it won’t overcome the circumstances standing in their way.

I don’t give away spoilers, but I will say this: Levi and Ivy’s story does not end here. I’m beyond excited and impatient for book two, Cold. The angst, the emotions, and the unrelenting desire that continuously simmers just below the surface is enough to make anyone crave more!

5 Stars!

I have been a huge fan of Max Monroe since Tapping The Billionaire. The team of duo writers seem to pull me into everything they write, because they just have a way with words, a way to make me feel things, that I truly enjoy feeling. Stone is SOOOOO different than any thing they have written but even though it is different, it is better. Not only is it different from anything they have ever written, it is so different than any thing I have ever read. I am sitting here with so many emotions coursing through my body. It was amazing and infuriating. There was so many twists and turns, and so many questions not answered because hello, not only are we lucky enough to get one book about Levi and Ivy we get three!! That's right three. We get more time in each of their heads.

When I started this book, I had no idea what to expect. But as soon as the intro appeared, I knew this is one book, that was gonna keep me on the edge of my seat. I went from being on the edge of my seat, to laughing my a** off, from hilarious insults like, " You look like a sack of warm shit." From hilarious insults to fanning myself from the chemistry because it was so explosive. From fanning myself to wanting to smack two heads together because the slow burn was killing me. Stepping away from wanting to smack two heads together, to out right wrapping my hands around some throats for the stupidity, and from then ready to throw my kindle out the damn door. I could go on and on.

Look I know I am being vague but trust me, it's for a reason. This is one book you want to go in blind. You don't want spoilers. I promise you spoilers will ruin this book for you. Just know that this book is different, but an AMAZING different. Levi and Ivy deserve to tell their own stories. in their own words, the way they want to.

Max Monroe you out did yourself on this one. Like honest to goodness out did yourselves. I can not wait for the rest of Ivy and Levi's story.

I recommend this book to people who need a change of scenery from the same books, the same tropes, yes it is a romance book, but there is so much more to this book than romance, it's mysterious, and edgy.. You get the point. Just read this book people.. It is worth your time and attention.

This wasn’t anything that I was expecting, but I absolutely loved it. I love the premise of the story, I love the antagonism between the hero and heroine, and I love all the places this story could go.

Max Monroe has penned another favorite!

Ok ok so I love Max Monroe. Their rom coms are some of the funniest books I've read. Now when someone mentions the word angst and then says Max Monroe in the same sentence my first thought is say what now !!!!! I live for angst.

So of course I grabbed this book as soon as it released. It took a few days for me to get to it. #TBRProblems I'm sure you understand. But I digress.....

So let's talk about this book already. First things first. Levi Fox !!!!! Well the description of him has my mouth about a dry as the sahara, I'm parched, I'm thirsty and I need water or well just Levi. He is just how I love some book men to be. Broody, A Jerk, not knowing whether I wanted to slap the shit out of him or tackle him to the ground and tell him to come home with me. He's damaged and you feel for him and even though his behaviour at times is downright RUDE, you kind of understand it. But you don't know the full reasoning behind it you just have assumptions.

That's what I loved about this book. There's more to his story, you don't know the whole truth but you have an inkling and Max Monroe has got me totally hooked on why Levi Fox is the way he is.

Enter Ivy, she's here to play a role. She's not your typical hollywood actress, down to earth and dedicated to her craft. She's the spark that seems to ignite the flame that Levi has buried deep and what you get is a whole lot of dangerous sparks, intense burning chemistry.

These two sparred and sparred again. But when they combusted, oh my gawwddd it was hot. There's angst though in this book and I can say that by the end of this my heart was pounding and I literally kept tapping my kindle so hard wanting more words that I might have sprained my finger. Can I sue Max Monroe for injuries??? Or how about they just send me the next book now let's just call it restitution.

So did I like this book? You bet your ass I did. Romance, Suspense, Conflict, Heartache, Angst, and a hot broody male. Checks off all my boxes.

Awful

It pains me to say this about this author but this was not only NOTHING like a Max Monroe book but it wasn't even remotely understandable. Its OK to try a different style not every book is funny and all sex and romance but this was just....painful. The story is confusing and while I appreciate the mystery it does no favors for this series. Ivy and Levi aren't relatable or even likeable. Neither character is well developed and the overall connection just isn't there. Levi is nothing but rude and mean. I get he has issues but he is miserable the ENTIRE book and it gets really old reading about it over and over. OK we get it, Grace was your partner and possibly more (although that's confusing as well) but seriously it not interesting to read about a mean nasty drunk who feels sorry for himself all the time! !I've the story along already! They're is no interaction in which it is shown that Levi and Ivy talk without nasty hurtful words, yelling or simply just walking away yet we are led to believe that they are somehow invested in one another!? Uh no. And Ivy is no better. She is pushy and self absorbed wrapped in a false sense of self importance about her job. Ugh...it isn't worth the money or time.

Stone is another proof to my claim that comedy isn't Max Monroe's strong suit, angst is.
The story pulled me in right from the beginning, main characters felt real with all their good and bad traits and the atmosphere of shooting a film was truly captivating. I can't wait to read about what happens next.

In 2010 the small town of Cold, Montana was threatened by the presence of a serial killer in its midst. Although the details are kept intentionally vague the reader is aware in the apprehension of the suspect one of Cold's own police department sacrificed herself in order to save the town as a whole.

Fast forward to 2016 where a movie is about to be filmed portraying the events of the 2010 serial killer with the main focus on Grace Murphy, the Cold Officer who lost her life in the capture of the killer. Ivy Stone, an up-and-coming Hollywood actress has snagged the part of Grace partly due to the similarity in their appearance but also because of the intense connection Ivy feels to Grace. Determined to play Grace to the best of her ability, Ivy immerses herself in the details of Grace's life, even renting Grace's house which still belongs to her family.

Levi is a well-respected member of the Cold community and police officer. However, there are clear indications from the beginning that Levi is tortured by the demons of the past specifically the time of Grace's death. Grace and Levi were best friends growing up; although it isn't confirmed there are hints within the narrative of the possibility the relationship between Grace and Levi extended beyond platonic. Due to his history with Grace and his personal regrets, Levi is determined to dislike Ivy with every fiber of his being, what he isn't prepared for is his insane attraction to her.

From the first antagonistic encounter between Ivy and Levi, the flames of their passion burn higher with each barb thrown. Their connection is undeniable and as much as Levi wants to hate Ivy, her innate compassion and kindness start to thaw the heart he thought was forever frozen.

Unfortunately, Levi is his own worse enemy, creating drama llama, adding to his personal anguish and hurting Ivy in the process. It is only via his own foolishness Levi realizes the gift Ivy has brought into his life and how important she is to his future.

Alongside the rocky road laid out between Ivy and Levi, there are unanswered questions concerning the events of 2010 and Levi's relationship with Grace. I cannot wait to find out more in Cold.

Stone is an intricately woven blend of thriller and romance, which I like to call romillers or thrillmances ;)

I have to mention how much I love the title of the trilogy blends the setting and the main characters last names ♥
