Encounters welcomes the reader to share and learn from Boyd's cultural and philosophical life journey. “A thoughtful collection to keep close at hand.” - international author Fritz Galt If you enjoy travel poetry, download a sample or buy Encounters now.
Trained in the comparative study of religions, James Boyd lived and studied in India, Sri Lanka, Iran, and Japan, as well as several European countries. He often said “Who could resist such an invitation” when asked to live in these different cultures. Over the course of 40 years, he photographed and compiled stories of the people he met and the places he visited. He has received numerous awards and fellowships. When he retired from Colorado State University as Distinguished Teaching Scholar, he turned to poetry as a way of telling the stories behind his photos. A native of Wisconsin, he lives in Fort Collins with his wife, enjoys numerous family members and friends, and an enviable view of the mountains.
