Scientist Ever Haynes was shocked when she was abducted by alien slavers...but the last thing she expected was to find herself pregnant with a cyborg's baby.

Ever has been fighting for her life since her abduction, and the only good thing to happen to her was one heated night with a mysterious prisoner--a connection, a flash of light in the darkness. But then he was rescued and she was left behind. Now, weeks later, she's been saved by the House of Galen gladiators...and by the man she shared the hottest night of her life with. But cool, emotionless cyborg Magnus Rone has no memory of their night together and finding out that she's expecting his baby is a shock to everyone.

Created in a military program, Magnus is genetically and cybernetically enhanced--emotionless, ruthless, focused. He vows to protect Ever and the baby she carries, and despite his lack of memory, everything about tough, levelheaded Ever draws him in. All his life, his emotional dampeners and training have limited his ability to feel emotions...but one small Earth woman cuts through all that and leaves him feeling.

As they work together to hunt down the deadly desert arena of Zaabha and the final human woman trapped there, Ever and Magnus find a stunning passion neither can resist or ignore. But in the dangerous desert sands of Carthago, with the House of Galen gladiators by their sides, deadly enemies are closing in. Ever and Magnus will be dragged back into the darkness, and Magnus will do anything and sacrifice everything to keep her safe.

Note to readers: This sci fi romance contains a lot of action (think wild gladiatorial fights and daring rescues), tough gladiators (the warriors of the House of Galen and the House of Rone) and a steamy romance (between a sexy, emotionless cyborg and a resilient survivor from Earth). So if you like it fast, and gritty, and sexy, this is for you!

A cyborg leader on a gladiatorial planet!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 😟🤭😤

The heroine: Ever Haynes - she worked as a scientist on the Fortuna Space Station when aliens attacked, and she was taken captive. For months, she was captive in a barren cell where she was made to sleep on the cold, hard floor as she was hauled across the galaxy by Thraxian slavers. She was eventually sold to a desert arena where she was made to fight gladiator style for her life, not even knowing if her sister Neve was alive. She was eventually rescued and was now pregnant with a half alien cyborg baby.

The Hero: Magnus Rone - he used to be an assassin in the military and was now Imperator of the House of Rone. He regularly rescued beings and put them under his protection. Many in the House of Rone were cyborgs like him, born in a lab. His house were weapons dealers and gladiators and they made the best weapons on the planet. He had been delivering some of his weapons when he was attacked in the desert and taken captive by slavers.

The Story: Magnus doesn’t remember much of his captivity, though Ever has told him that she is now carrying his child. He was told he couldn’t reproduce and none of his medical team know how he was able to create a child with the human woman. He hasn’t told them about the fact that his emotional dampeners malfunction when he is near Ever.

There were good things about this story and things I hated. First of all, the Thraxian slavers want Ever back after she was rescued. She is hugely pregnant and even after they nearly capture her again, she continues to put herself in danger and insists on going on a dangerous mission. Sure, her being there would help the team since she created some technology they can use, but I think it is selfish to put herself in danger like that while carrying a child.

Though I really did like the romance. I liked how stoic and cold Magnus was at the beginning and how he didn’t remember their night together, but he quickly warms up to Ever. There are also a lot of supporting characters which I really liked. This is the first book in this series I have read, but I assume some of the other couples were from prior books.

Cyborg is book ten in the Galactic Gladiators series by Anna Hackett.

I really enjoy this series. I first read it in Kindle Unlimited and then went back later and bought all the books to re-read.

Anna Hackett is an amazing science fiction romance author. I feel in love with the Galactic Gladiators series the moment I read book one and each book brings me something new to love.

We are introduced to the cyborg’s on the planet Carthago. Now they have popped up now and then to help find the missing human women, but we haven’t really gotten one of their stories; until now.

The cyborg’s are a race who don’t feel emotions or have suppressed emotions. They also have physical enhancements that make them unable to fight in the gladiator ring. Magnus Rone, the Imperator of the House of Rone is allied to the House of Galen. He’s a cyborg created and trained to be a soldier and only a soldier. He left his people long ago, but he still believes that his training holds and that he’s better off without emotion and a relationships that could only cloud his focus.

He was captured briefly and his emotional dampeners where damaged. During that time he meet Ever Haynes and they came together. Now I can’t remember if we see his rescue in the series or not. I know we don’t get their time together in captivity and I wish we did get that perspective. Magnus got rescued, but Ever didn’t and when she comes back into his life after now being rescued well he’s not sure what to do with the a baby on the way.

Magnus feels duty-bound to protect Ever and their baby and the stacks get even higher when Ever is captured again, but amidst the chaos, Magnus discovers that love doesn’t’ make you week; it makes you strong.

Ever is a tough women. She’s been through hell and back and hell and back again, but though it all she's fought for herself, her unborn child, and a future with Magnus.

I like that the women in this series are all strong. They’re not the damsels in destress. They’ve been through hell and still find a way to cope and find a future on this planet. I like that each relationship has it’s own challenges and that everyone gets their happy ever after. I also like that each book gives us something new and exciting to explore in the world. The author keeps building and adding, which keeps me interested and wondering what surprises might be next. One of the other things I really like is that the author points us in the direction of who might hook up next, without giving things away.

Last I’ll point out that this book spins us off into the Galactic Gladiators: House of Rone series which features the cyborg men.

Cyborg was another wonderful Sci-Fi Romance read in the Galactic Gladiators series. If you enjoy Sci-Fi Romance then I highly recommend this author and this series.

4.5 stars.

Well well, well you just can’t get away from secret baby stories!
How that will work with an Alien Guy and he was a Cyborg nonetheless! Lol.

I let you to read it.

I like this one very much, our hero is so different and he came from a different Gladiator House.
Btw, none of those where the heroine try to hide the baby from the hero in purpose story.
All good and you will love it too, if you like secret baby story, that is! 😘

Just in case you interested, this hero house with his bunch of gladiators will get a new series next year! 😘

I can’t wait!

I do enjoy these stories set on planet Carthago about the gladiators who live there and the humans who they have taken to. This time it's analytical, cyborg Magnus who is getting his world turned upside down by human and ever so very much pregnant Ever ! Magnus might not remember their previous encounter but he will do anything to protect this stubborn woman and their unborn child. Trouble is Ever has a mind of her own and a pretty sneaky way of getting Magnus to do what she wants. Yes those annoying pregnancy hormones just might be the undoing of uptight, unemotional Magnus !
As usual it's a fabulous trip to a planet where the unimaginable can so easily happen. Slaves, gladiators, aliens, action and romance makes this series such a joy to read. I loved this couple but strongly suspect that as we are now in sight of the long awaited book featuring Galen that there will be an awful lot of fans willing the author to write faster ! For now though it's all about Ever and her cyborg so enjoy this story whilst dreaming of a gladiator of your own !
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair.

Magnus and Evers story... unfortunately I felt disconnected.

Magnus is partially cyborg which leaves him a bit emotionless. This aspect I believe is what made it difficult for me to connect to this character. He was taken months before Ever was saved but has no memory of what happened. Apparently he was kept with Ever and things got steamy now she’s pregnant with his baby and has no memory of it. Ouch.

Ever was a smidge annoying. She’s preggers but continuously puts herself and the baby in danger. Now when the heroine isn’t pregnant I’m good with some risk but with a baby on board .... be smart.

Storyline is good and the lead in to the next book in this series is nail biting!

Happy reading! DD💕

Cyborg (Galactic Gladiators, #10) is a captivating sci-fi universe that masterfully weaves together an array of compelling elements. The narrative includes a diverse cast of bizarre creatures, skilled gladiators, kidnapped humans and harrowing trials that put characters to the ultimate test. The story unfolds with an intricate tapestry of secret plans, deep-rooted mysteries, intense action sequences, and the raw emotions of frustration, pain, and suffering, all interspersed with moments of unexpected romance.

The multi-perspective storytelling is a significant strength of this narrative, allowing readers to explore the inner thoughts and feelings of various characters. This depth enriches the overall experience, creating a more immersive and well-rounded story.

Life as a gladiator is portrayed as incredibly dark and perilous, where every moment is shadowed by deception and hidden agendas. It’s a brutal existence that not only challenges physical endurance but also tests the very limits of human spirit, shaping or dismantling the individuals who dare to fight for their survival.

If you are in search of a gripping and entertaining read that offers a blend of excitement and emotional depth, I highly recommend diving into this book.

In Anna Hackett’s Gladiator universe, it feels as though anything is possible. And that much frees the narrative to range from far-flung sand-dune adventures to ancient Rome-type fighting for sport and commerce.

With a stoic, near-emotionless cybernetically-enhanced guy suddenly thrust into the emotionally-laden sphere of impending childbirth with a woman he’d apparently been kidnapped with, I felt a little lost at sea here after the sudden shift in focus from the House of Galen to the House of Rone—like I’d been thrust into a backstory that I had no clue about at all, only for it to have been narrated almost as a throwaway line.

Nonetheless, ‘Cyborg’ feels like the book that’s leading us to the edge of some precipice that Hackett hasn’t yet thrown us over…as though it’s the penultimate book of a series that has mainly dealt with the systematic rescue of more earth women from unscrupulous traders and aliens, as the House of Galen and the House of Rone fight to dismantle illegal fighting rings and stop the kidnappings. Magnus Rone’s book continues this similar storyline with a different couple so it did seem a bit repetitive for me, though it’s always great fun each time to read the new things Hackett comes up with when the action scenes finally roll around.

The slight bit of a cliffhanger here is an excellent hook for the next book, though Hackett’s fans would barely need it at this point in time.

As always I enjoyed this Anna Hackett book too.
But not as much as some of the previous ones. In the beginning I struggled a little to connect with MC’s or may be it was because I had high expectation for this book. The last chapter made me swoon. Many new characters from House of Rone was introduced. I hope to be introduced to new ‘houses’ in next book. And I’m eagerly waiting for each and everyone of their stories. Yes you guessed right I can never get enough of this series.
Definitely recommended.

Repeat, repeat, repeat. I thought this one would be one that I really liked because of the cyborg element, something different for this series but instead we get the...
-male with repressed emotions
-female TSTL that thinks that she should go on missions while pregnant. Hey if she doesn't go then she is being imprisioned right? That is always the arguement but is far from reality. Hey, but these aren't reality right. So the untrained, weaker human, who is pregnant no less, gets to go on a military operation. This is one, ridiculous and two, not original for this series. It always makes me irritated and unable to enjoy the book because it is a ploy to get the book to move the direction to put the male and female into danger and injury. Hey that injury a repeat and not original.
-and the whole book is about saving Sam, OK, no, it is about Ever and Magnus getting together but the way it is told... it is all about Sam and on that note, it is a cliffhanger.

This was pretty much repeat performance with different names of other stories in the same series, in order to set up Sam and Galen for the next book. There was a little connection and sex to make it palatable.

Magnus must have been a pretty crappy assassin, since he doesn’t seem to exhibit many battle smarts. Sure, he can pound stuff into oblivion, but the planning and reacting part seems behind him.
And wth is it with TSTL females insisting that it’s appropriate that they go into dangerous situations where they’ll just be a liability if anything goes wrong?! Spoiler alert: this is life. Things always go wrong.

Love the series but didn’t love all the heroines....

I’m sad to see the gladiators series coming to an end, this is where I first truly discovered Ms.Hackett and her wonderful solid writing and for that I’m forever grateful....
Thank Ms.Hackett for becoming on of my favorite writers....
I don’t say that easily but your work has earned my trust, because I know what I’m getting when I pick one of your books....
And that’s a beautiful thing,I know your going to give a decent and well thought out story and the chances of my fears or triggers being kicked in are slim to none...
And from some of the things I’ve come across since I started really serious reading 4-5 + years ago, plunging back into the romance genre, that truly is a grand and beautiful thing...
I say because everything we read and say and to just like the ppl we met inside out outside of books on a daily basis leaves it mark on us...

Becomes a part of us, some good, leaving stronger and a lil smarter maybe and hopefully excited and energized to get up,and face another day better than before...
While some bad,w find books not meant for us ( not sure who with some) that leave a littler hurt or scared,a little less of our selves from we experienced, wanting to pull in and forget what we’d climbed in to hoping for a pleasant or uplifting escape only to have been knocked down instead ....
Books that changed a small part not necessarily for the better, but we try to be stronger for the worst ,fighting the lingering effects that if we left it still bring a chill...

Some , too many it feels at times, treat all this as frivolous fantasies but we all need that “safe” place we can escape our daily cares and woes where we already know there is unlike life around and it’s plans,a HEA is there in the stands, hard worked for and won that’s true, but there it’s waiting to come shining thru...
Thank Ms. Hackett, please know you are appreciated, lol even if my review isn’t abbreviated...
Lol, sorry I got in a rhyming kick, and I’m not good at being quick ..lol..
I didn’t love all your h’s ,some were too self absorbed or too hard, never wanting to let don their guard, some too stubborn to be negated, them I can say I almost hated ( lol, make it stop ,the rhyming is out control) but in the end I’ll tell you,I be really sad when this story is thru...
I think I read too much Suess as a child ...
Btw I doubt it would surprise you I write poetry at times ...
Usually when I’m upset to get my feelings out ...
I highly recommend, Thank you ..

My Review:

Cyborg was quite an interesting take within the series. Much of it is done from the others in the group. Our heroine and hero were stuck together and Ever is torn in her emotions for Magnus because he has forgotten their time together and now she needs to help remind him of what they found together. With Magnus being a cyborg, he doesn't believe he can be someone that can love. But the more he stands as a protector of Ever and the father of her child, the more he starts to have certain inclinations towards some emotions and he isn't this unfeeling cybernetic that he always believed he was.

I found Cyborg to be quite interesting. There were some elements to it that I enjoyed and others I didn't so much enjoy. The one issue that I did have with the story is that our heroine is pregnant and yet is insistent to be fighting all the time lol It just doesn't fit for someone that is pregnant and its in situations that she could easily stay out of. Magnus doesn't want her in certain situations not because she can't fight or hold her own, but because she is in a certain condition that does make her physically more vulnerable and is growing a child. I just don't understand it when there are heroines written like this, that are so independent they disregard the fact that their first job is to protect their child .....not feel super independent and that its more than alright to let your man help you out, it doesn't weaken you. But the impression I got from this was the heroine cared more about being in the action than doing what she needed to protect her child who almost died because of her recklessness. The way she was written it was such a turn off for me. I know many of the heroines this author writes are super kick ass in her sci fi, but I do wish there was more realism to this.

Overall I really liked the plot but the romance and the dynamics of the heroine was a struggle at times so not my favorite of the series.

Series: Galactic Gladiators #10
Rating:4 stars - It was really good

Scientist Ever Haynes has been fighting for her life since she was abducted by alien slavers. Now weeks after being rescued she is still struggling with the memories while dealing with an emotionless cyborg. Magnus may be genetically and cybernetically enhanced but one tiny earthy woman changes everything for him and makes his emotion dampers fail.

The first cyborg book!! I have been wanting a story about the House of Rone cyborgs since they were introduced and this one definitely did not disappoint. I loved Magnus and Ever’s story. Ever is struggling to deal with her PTSD and the fact she is going to be a mother. While her and Magnus shared a wonderful night together when he was captured he doesn’t remember it. I loved how determined she was to make Magnus embrace his emotions.

“His woman from Earth had a steel-hard spine, grit, and the heart of a cyborg. She terrified him.”

Magnus is an emotionless cyborg who does whatever he can to protect his people. He is now determined to protect Ever, even if it is from himself. Unfortunately for him Ever is determined to break through his dampers and make him remember their night together. Magnus is my favorite kind of hero. He was protective, emotionally challenged, and deadly. I couldn’t put Magnus and Ever’s story down and I can’t wait to see what they name the baby.

I am dying to jump into Galen and Sam’s book. They are such deadly fighters that I know their book is going to be an action packed steamy romance. While I am excited to see the ending of Zaabah I am also sad because the series is ending. But the cyborgs are getting their own series which I am so excited about. I am just not ready to give up this world.

I devoured CYBORG in a single night and it's action, adventure, and romance was all a wonderful mix. The Gladiators are getting closer and closer to taking down Zaabha and I can't wait to see those sandsuckers defeated! With Sam Santos still held captive by the Thraxians the gladiators and other humans are working overtime to locate the fight rings and bring her home. But that's not Ever's only worry and since coming to stay at the House of Rone she's fighting to find the man she remembers inside the cyborg. I really loved Ever's compassion and her refusal to give up on Magnus. She's been through so much but she never gives up nor does she cower from her fear. She wants to stay far away from Zaabha but her honor demands that she fight for Sam like Sam did for her.

Protecting Ever and their unborn baby is all that matters to Magnus and though he can't remember their night together he knows that Ever is important to him. Magnus was a great hero and his devotion to Ever was so sweet from a character who's been so stoic. Bred and raised to be an assassin, Magnus is used to being on his own, so opening up to Ever and admitting his feelings is hard but he's also tired of being alone. If anyone was in need of a hug it was Magnus and I'm so glad that Ever was willing to fight for her man!

I won't give anything away about the ending but I can't wait for Galen and Sam's book after that preview we got. I've been anxiously awaiting Galen's story from the beginning and it looks like Sam is going to give him a run for his money. Knowing that we're approaching the downfall of Zaabha I worried that this series was coming to an end but a note at the back of the book has me excited for more gladiators. And, fingers crossed, the cyborg Jaxer will be one of them.

I've given this book a 3 out of 5 only because the series seems to be dragging for me at this point. It's the same thing over and over again. Rescue the human woman, and then the book is spent trying to find the other human woman to rescue which they do but something always happens at the end where they find out there's more humans or something.

Pretty sure the next book is the end of the series, and even if not, it will be for me.

I can't contain my excitement over Cyborg. I read it the moment I got my grabby little hands on it. A cyborg imperator with no feelings, a fierce, tenacious, and pregnant human woman. Desire runs high and personalities clash as Ever and Magnus remember their time together in the desert.

Ms Hackett is a go-to author for me. When I'm not sure what I want to read, or when I want to read something I know I'll love and enjoy, I will pick up one of her books. They never fail to entertain me with high action adventure, fabulous worlds, and of course, heroes and heroines I know I will love. I am always left with a good feeling after one of Ms Hackett's books. And with Cyborg? I'm just feeling all googly-eyed and lovey-dovey. I want my very own Magnus.

I've been fascinated with Magnus ever since I met him in the previous Gladiator books. He seemed so silent and unapproachable but as Ever discovers, underneath that is an honorable and protective man with a noble streak a mile wide. I loved watching Magnus thaw and start to allow himself to feel under Ever's persistence. He was magnificent once he finally lets loose. Of all the gladiators I've read, Magnus is my favorite. I think I might lick him cos ya know, if I lick him, he's mine. :-p

Like all the Earth women in this series, Ms Hackett has made Ever strong, resilient and determined. Even while heavily pregnant she fights for Sam's freedom and insists on being a part of her rescue. The moments when Ever reveals her softer side, is a little fragile from the pregnancy with Magnus looking after her are my favorites. Don't get me wrong, I love that she's a strong woman but I like that she's not afraid to lean on someone else's strength when it's needed.

Honestly, I'm utterly tickled by the pregnancy. I'm a traditionalist at heart when it comes to my romances, and weddings and babies make me happy. Seeing Magnus' protectiveness over Ever and the baby was beautiful.

This is my favorite series by Ms Hackett. I can't wait for the next book. I think it's Galen's turn next and man, it's going to be great to see that tough, competent man fall.

Very sympathetic leads, hot love scenes, and excellent fight sequences. The book is formulaic, but the engaging characters and variety of monsters and traps kept me entertained. New beasties and weapons show the author keeps coming up with fun details.
Don't read this as the first book. Start earlier in the series so you have more context for Carthago and Kor Magna.

He might not be the House of Galen but cyborg Magnus, the Imperator of the House of Rone is just as alpha as any of the other gladiators. Looks like it's true when they say "cold hands, warm heart"!

Looks like we'll be getting Galen's story next...finally... hope that doesn't mean the end of the series though. I am actually interested in seeing more of this alien world of Carthago outside of the Kor Magna Arena.

Burned Out🔥On the Gladiators🔪

I love this series, but it seems time for it to end.

In this installment, the man with the golden arm, Magnus, finds true love with the human woman, Ever, another of the abductees from the space station. In the arena, Magnus faces his greatest challenge yet!

I love this author's books! For some crazy reason, I thought this one was going to take me into a different alien universe altogether, until I saw the small words "Galactic Gladiators" at the bottom.

Never fear, the book is classy and well written, with adult sex scenes included When needed.

This cyborg finally realized feelings are good

Feelings are what set humanity apart. Sure there are some who abuse others because of hateful feelings, but for Magnus that wasn't the case. Her found the beginnings of love one night in the desert, and then continued to build the love with the help of Ever. I can't wait for the next one to come out; I want to know more about Galen. I borrowed this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.

Crazy good action romance

Holy Moly! Magnus Rone, cyborg imperator of House Rone, began life as a military experiment. He 's been an ally of House Galen and a fellow rescuer of the enslaved ever since he escaped life as a programmed assassin and rescued his fellow cyborg slave, When the mission to free the last Earth women from the slave arena at Zaabha goes south, he gets a new mission. One of the Earthwomen, Ever, is pregnant with his baby!! He doesn't know how THAT happened. His programming prohibits reproduction. He doesn't remember anything... But, surprise! Magnus isn't about to fail on this rescue! The little sprout is HIS, and he's gonna man up. Thereby hangs a trademark Anna Hackett tale - chock full of fast action, glorious fighting, stealth, strategy, and steamy love scenes. It's a heart-in-mouth wild ride from beginning to end, starring the cyborg hero every woman will adore, his tenaciously fierce human baby mama, and a supporting cast of die-hard alien gladiators and their kick-butt human lovers. The series is coming to a head, with the villains on their last, desperate legs, and the next book promises to be outta-this-world too.

THIS WOULD BE MY FINAL FORAY INTO THE GALACTIC GLADIATORS FOR NOW, I AM STILL WAITING TO GET MY HANDS ON IMPERATOR. THOUGHT AFTER READING THREE STORIES OF THIS SERIES, THE USUAL PATTERN IN THE STORY LINE IS STARTING TO WEAR ME DOWN.

OUR HERO is a Cyborg and at times...he really was a bit too cut off from his emotions than I'd like. I always indulge in a good cyborg romance, and it was usually hot and heavy BUT also quite emotional. Magnus just tries really hard to be disconnected with feelings, relying heavily on his emotional dampers. He used to be a specially bred and designed Cyborg who played assassin to his Creators until they betrayed him and he escaped along with a younger Cyborg. Now that he's the Imperator of the House of Rone, he only has a single purpose and to help those who need cybernetics treatment...and also a safe haven. Of course, they will still have to be part of the whole Gladiator thing. Because Magnus is a Cyborg, he is ruled out from being in the arena. Apparently when someone screwed him over and he became captive, AND his systems were down, he had a glorious night with a human woman and accidentally impregnated her. When she comes to live under his HOUSE of Rone ( I missed out the previous books, so I'm guessing the past will be told there), he has a hard time controlling his emotions and all too soon, knowing the fact that he'll be having a child will hit him hard.

OUR HEROINE is merely that to me. I didn't feel much for her in the story, though I am beginning to see that the author likes to fashion her heroines in the same stubborn manner. Throughout the series, it's searching for the other human women who were either abducted, still missing or etc...the heroines will ALWAYS want to be involved even if the Hero says no. Then they will always get their way anyway because the hero loves them....UGHH to me it just felt like the author was trying to be cute. It was fine when Harper did it..but when all the heroines do the same thing and here I am at BOOK 10..having supposedly gone through it 9 times....it seriously pisses me off. There is no originality in that department. ANYWAYS, she tries to win Magnus back and mainly it was all sexual from there on.

OVERALL this isn't my favourite book in the series.

This book was great. I think it is the best so far, but each book has been the best. This book was full of suspense. There a couple of spots in the book that make you think, how did that happen?? Then you find out and it was better than you imagined.

Dang, this series is so much fun!

I am loving those big, tough honorable gladiators and smart, strong, resilient women who love them. Magnus is a darling, Ever is my kind of a gal, together they are lovely. Is this series formulaic ? Absolutely. But it is also a good examples of how, with good writing and endearing characters, formulaic does not go stale and consistently remains engaging, entertaining and enjoyable.
Can't wait for Galen's story.
