Nakon što se godinama borila s viškom kilograma, i isprobala gomile manje ili više uspješnih dijeta, nakon kojih bi joj se kilogrami vratili čim se ona vratila svojoj normalnoj prehrani, Suzy Wengel odlučila je konačno pronaći nešto učinkovito i trajno, režim prehrane koji će joj pomoći da se oslobodi viška kilograma, ali i zadrži zdravu težinu i zdrav način prehrane zauvijek, bez da se vrati na staro. To joj je naposlijetku i uspjelo, a svoju je metodu potom odlučila podijeliti s drugima - rezultat je ova knjiga i Scandi Sense dijeta o kojoj u njoj piše.

Što je Scandi - tj. skandinavska - Sense dijeta? Pa, kao prvo, to nije dijeta u onom smislu na koji prvo pomislite kad čujete riječ 'dijeta'. Skandinavska Sense dijeta u principu je režim zdrave prehrane, koji se temelji na službenim prehrambenim savjetima Danskog zdravstvenog odbora. Ovaj režim vam ništa ne zabranjuje, ali vam preporuča na koji način da sastavljate svoje obroke kako biste se hranili zdravo i svom tijelu davali sve ono što mu je potrebno.

Prvo na što ja pomislim kad čujem riječ 'dijeta' je nešto restriktivno i kratkotrajno, čemu je cilj brzinski smanjiti kilograme, koji će se vrlo brzo nakon dostizanja tog cilja i vraćanja na uobičajeni režim prehrane vratiti, nerijetko i s pojačanjem. Ovu bih knjigu vrlo vjerojatno i preskočila da se ne radi o nečem što je postalo senzacija u Danskoj, i nečem što u sebi nosi magičnu riječ 'skandinavska'.

Zašto volim tu riječ? Jer mi se jako sviđa skandinavski mentalitet, njihov životni stil i odnos prema samom sebi i svojoj okolini. Zato sam odlučila ovoj knjizi dati priliku i vidjeti kako se taj način razmišljanja odnosi na prehranu. I nisam se razočarala, knjiga i režim prehrane koji je u njoj opisan je jako jednostavan, lako primjenjiv, održiv, realističan i u granicama zdravog razuma - kako Suzy to kaže - 'Sense'.

Sense metoda je sljedeća: svakodnevno je potrebno konzumirati 3 obroka, u koji se dodaju namirnice koje veličinom stanu u šaku (a to nije mala količina, iako vam na prvu možda tako izgleda!), a sam se obrok sastoji od 4 šake namirnica. Od toga dvije šake sadrže povrće, jedna šaka bjelančevine (meso, ribu, jaja, mahunarke, sir i sl.), a jedna šaka škrob i/ili šećere (žitarice, krumpir, voće, itd.). Uz sve ovo, svakodnevno su dozvoljene i 3 žlice masnoća (ulje, maslac, orašasti plodovi, itd.), te 300ml mliječnih proizvoda. Začini se mogu koristiti neograničeno. Dozvoljeni su i mix&match između pojedinih dijelova ovih obroka, tako da si svatko u principu može složiti režim koji mu najbolje odgovara.

U knjizi ćete pronaći i priče nekolicine ljudi koji su isprobali Suzynu metodu, koji kažu i kako je, kad usvojiš temelje ovog režima prehrane, lako pratiti ono što jedeš čak i ako prestaneš sve precizno mjeriti šakama. Bit je u oslanjanju na povrće kao temelj prehrane i osiguranju dovoljne količine bjelančevina, škroba, šećera i masnoća kako bi tijelo normalno funkcioniralo i dobivalo ono što mu je za to potrebno.

Suzyna metoda je Sense u pravom smislu te riječi - zdravorazumska prehrana koja osigurava zdrav život, bez restrikcija, kazni i izgladnjavanja. Unatoč nazivu, ona nije dijeta u smislu da se odnosi na nešto pomoću čega ćete izgubiti težinu, već više metoda, režim kojim ćete se, ako ga usvojite, zdravo hraniti i zadržati optimalnu tjelesnu težinu, prilagođavajući si prehranu onako kako vam najbolje odgovara.

Ovo je zanimljiva knjiga, koja će vas brzo zainteresirati. Jednostavna je, razumna, a sadrži i brojne recepte (također vrlo jednostavne) i primjere obroka koje možete isprobati. Ako ste, kao i Suzy, već dugo u potrazi za nečim učinkovitim po pitanju tjelesne težine, ne tražite dalje. This is it.

The diet seems very interesting. It does seem like a common sense diet. Not a lot of help on how to handle eating out or combo foods (eg chili, lasagna, etc). Not a lot of recipes and those included are not typical for the American diet (eg: suggested snack Three walnuts dipped in 10 grams of dark chocolate (min. 70%) with a sprinkle of freeze-dried raspberries, liquorice and edible glitter).

I think you could really get all the info from the free you tube video. You would really only miss 4 testimonials, the autobiography of the author, and a handful of recipes.

This method is for weight management is fantastic. It’s super easy, fun, and highly motivating. The book itself is seriously flawed and oddly put together. Completely worth a look, however.

It seems strange to be reviewing a diet book but this one came up when I was searching on Google for a common-sense diet and my branch library had a copy of it without any holds on it. When I got it it was absolutely pristine and I don't think anybody had even opened it before. It was an ok book and I liked that there were daily meal plans with recipes. Unfortunately, maybe because this was written more for a Scandinavian audience, I think a lot of the ingredients would be hard to find in Ontario. Many of the recipes sounded too complicated to me ... once I get past 4 or 5 ingredients I just kind of zone out. The diet itself makes sense and I've actually been trying to picture handfuls of food when I'm filling my plate so that's a good sign. I like the book's presentation, nice pictures and straightforward narrative although I'm not sure why they printed the men's recipes separately since the women's pages already explained what to do if a man was eating at the same time.

I really enjoyed this. Came across it so randomly it's a shame this doesn't seem to be popular in the uk (yet) but this seems really sensible and clever. Great illustrations and explanations too.
