“He wants her released into the enclosure. He wants to hunt her.”

Recaptured during her escape from zone four, Maci Bishop wakes up in the mysterious, heavily fortified zone two, where wealthy citizens come to sate sordid, homicidal appetites by hunting death row inmates in a wooded enclosure. Live on camera, for spectators watching from the Resort.

Maci is rented as a plaything for a guest at the Resort, but when she kills her first customer in self-defense, her life sentence quickly becomes a death sentence. To teach the other women a lesson, the warden throws Maci into the enclosure, to be hunted alongside a vicious death row inmate named Callum.

Though at first he believes the beautiful, half-naked woman is bait intended to lure him out, Callum saves Maci from a brutal death. As they fight their way through the enclosure, taking on hunters, guards, and ruthless robotic hounds, he falls hard for the tiny, clever hellcat and discovers she may just have the skills to get them both out of the enclosure alive.

But Maci won’t abandon the other women to pay for her escape. Not again. She won’t be satisfied until she shuts down the entire Resort: clients, guards, hounds, and all. And there’s no way in hell Callum will let her walk into the lion’s den alone…

Three words: Smutty hunger games.

I didn't know what to expect when I picked up quiet, little Maci's story. But this actually exceeded all my expectations, probably because I had none after the first book. So much more action and excitement here.

In every prison planet series I've read so far, the heroines always rely on the hero to protect them. But Maci, despite being a voluntary "mute" most of the time, is freakishly smart. They balance each other out perfectly in order to survive.

The only downside is everything happened in a matter of a week. They had nice chemistry, doesn't mean it couldn't have been better. But them being hunted like prey almost felt like a valid reason for their insta-love, so it wasn't a big issue for me.

He leans in for a kiss, then pulls me even closer. “I would fight for you every day of—”
“Maci!” The door flies open at his back, and Lilli rushes into the room.
“Out!” Callum shouts, without turning. “You’re interrupting a tender fucking moment!”

How that cracked me up🥺. He's a big softie only for her.

Other aspects worth noting:
➥ A language barrier. It was so fun watching them try to communicate.
➥ Pretty well thought out technology and decent world building. Shit actually made sense....can you believe?
➥ I loved the heroine's character development since the first book. She was always such a mystery. Quiet, withdrawn, frail. Here, she could almost be considered a badass (I choose to forget that one stupid lil choice she made).
➥ The size difference between Maci and Callum😶

The hunter becomes the hunted!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: 🤓☺️😳🤪🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Macie - she played a big part in the first book, Guardian. Macie is 20 Earth years old, but looks a lot younger than that and Audra took Macie under her wing when they arrived on the prison planet and were in danger in Zone 4. Now Macie is having to deal with things alone after being moved to Zone 2, otherwise known as “The Resort”.

The Hero: Callum - Callum is on death row on the prison planet. Also in Zone 2. “The resort is very different for male prisoners than the female, non death row inmates. Callum has been there for nearly a year and it is his turn to be executed.

The Story: The women are in barracks and are required to keep everything clean, including themselves. Once a day they are brought to posh suites of rooms where they have to be naked ‘companions’ for wealthy men. When Macie kills the man trying to rape her, she is then relegated to be put to death.

The men on death row, get put in the enclosure where they are hunted by wealthy men. It is Callum’s turn, but when the man hunting Callum finds out that Macie murdered his brother, he decides he wants to be the one to put her to death, so she is put in the enclosure along with Callum. As seen in the first book, Macie has some sort of psychic ability where she knows ahead of time when certain things are going to happen. She has nothing left to lose so she plans on killing the hunter, not unlike Callum who plans on taking as many people down as he can before he dies.

Like the first book, this was told in dual points of view via dual narration. Narrated by Jillian Macie and Aiden Snow who both did a terrific job. In the first book, I thought Jillian sounded a bit too old, but I don’t think that is true in this one. I am not sure if she used a different voice or accent or maybe I just got used to her narration, but I liked it in this one. Aiden Snow, as always has a deep sexy voice which I love. I could listen to him all day.

The one thing I didn’t like, which I hate in any science fiction romance books is when the two main characters don’t speak the same language. Also, one thing I can’t stand in books, is when couples pause in dangerous situations for sexy time. These two people are being hunted in the woods by a hunter armed with a high tech laser gun and they do that pause on more than one occasion. Though the best part about this one was that meek little Macie turned out to be a kick-ass heroine.

Book Review
Release Date-22/3/18

In most cases, the only difference between the guards and the inmates is the uniform each wears

"Hunter" is the second book in the prison planet series and I enjoyed this even more than the first if that's even possible.
This continues right after the events at the end of book one.
And this time we get to spend time with Maci as she is transferred to zone 2 as entertainment for the wealthy patrons of The Resort.
This book is a totally different ballgame than its predecessor each instalment having such a distinctly unique flavour.
So after accidentally killing one of the paying customers, Maci is thrown into the enclosure alongside fellow death row inmate Callum to be hunted live for the viewer's amusement by the deceased's brother.
Think Escape from the New-York / Running Man / The Hunger Games but with super sexy shenanigans and you'll get the basic picture.

tenor.gif

Unable initially to speak the same language and despite some initial suspicion understandably on Callum's behalf; these two very swiftly bond; pulled together through there shared experiences and also through utter necessity each needing the others skill-sets for there very survival.
At the onset, their lack of spoken language maybe helping them to bond in a much more physical fashion.
Actions sometimes speaking louder than words.

.He lifts a thick strand of my hair to his face and sniffs again. Then he rubs it on his cheek and says a word I hope means soft. Or pretty. Or something complimentary. Anything other than, “After I kill you I’m going to eat your flesh, shave your corpse, and wear your hair as a braided trophy.” Because that would definitely be a mood killer..

What I also loved about this was that though Callum was ultimately the muscle Maci was also no slouch when it came to saving her own butt.
Lacking the physical strength she uses other weapons in her vast arsenal and in a way it's her actions that change the course of her and Caluums eventual fate.
I also really liked the Callum was secure enough in his own masculinity to appreciate and be impressed by the skills Maci herself brought to the table.

I stare at Maci in awe. Shaw may have thought he was putting her in here to die, but all he’s really done is arm the little tech-ninja with her weapon of choice. My little hellkitten is crazy smart. She’s just used the warden’s own security system against him.

I also adored how blunt and Alpha Callum was while still managing to convey his affections towards Maci. He was a typical male sometimes not thinking to just express himself verbally expecting Maci to be a bloody mind-reader.

I already told you, hellcat. You’re mine. I’m yours. If that weren’t true, I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t have come after you in the enclosure. I wouldn’t have given myself up. I wouldn’t have escorted thirty whining women through the woods in the middle of the night. I’m sorry if it didn’t occur to me to actually say the words, but Maci, I love the hell out of you.

I absolutely adored the overall execution here especially the epic finale we are treated to when Maci goes all GI Jane on their butts. Sometimes the Damsel needs to rescue the prince; loved this so much it was totally epic.
And Callum himself may not be all hearts and flowers but he does express himself with such heartfelt individuality that I just couldn't help falling for this deadly prison inmate.

Hell yes, you belong to me,” he growls. “And not in that ‘prison dibs’ kind of way. You belong to me like my own fucking hand belongs to me. Like you’re a part of me. And I will fuck up anyone who tries to sever you from me.

See such a way with words has Callum; how could you not bow down and just appreciate his pure masculine yumminess.
There is just so much here to adore and while this has some serious life and death struggles it is also filled with some terrific one-liners and tongue in cheek humour.
Everything thing about this book just worked for me on all levels and I'm am so looking forward to the next exciting instalment I really can't recommend this series enough.
I accessed Hunter (Prison Planet Book 2) with my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I’m giving Hunter 3 stars, but I still liked the book. I think if 30% of it was edited it out, I would have bumped it to 4 stars. My interest got kind of lost towards the end, but overall, I like Maci.

Maci was the quiet one in the first book. I was really curious about her, since she’s the virgin and she seemed to have a unique ability, but we never really knew what it was. In Hunter, she really shines.

Callum is on death row, he lives in a cell with the other death row inmates. He doesn’t understand why he isn’t just killed, but after a year in death row, he realizes what awaits for him.

The hunt. In the Hunt, he is thrown into an enclosed kind of “woodlands” area where a rich person will be hunting him and kill him. What an interesting storyline right? Maci is thrown into with him and they two will have to learn to survive.

The author does a great job at world building and story-telling, but like I said earlier, sometimes it’s a bit much. I wanted a lot of that edited out towards the end. I enjoyed the story most of all. It was unique to see how Callum and Maci interact. I also liked that they didn’t speak the same language. I kind of wanted that to be continued throughout the book because it would just make for a harder relationships.

I usually like books where there are not that many characters and you really get that with this one. They have to use each other to survive.

Despite the book being too long, I was entertained and will be moving on to the next book!

This second in the series focuses on zone two of the prison planet. You don’t have to read book one, but it will give you a better idea of the world and Maci is in the first book as well.

The woman inmates here are basically a pretty first course meal for powerful men playing a sadistic game. The elite and wealthy pay a substantial amount to hunt down and kill the male prisoners, it’s a spectators sport. Maci accidentally kills the first male she’s given to and she is now one of the hunted.

Callum, a convicted murderer, is already out in the field when Maci is released for the hunt. The entire story is them getting to know each other while on the run. They don’t speak the same language (I love this) and we learn Maci has some seriously awesome hidden talents.

It followed the same formula for book two, so that was disappointing but I still had a good time reading it.

Hunter is book 2 in the Prison Planet Series and picks up where book 1 left off with Maci being recaptured. First, let me start by saying that I am really impressed with this series so far and Maci really took me by surprise. In book 1 she was a shy and quiet girl who appeared so young and rarely spoke. She followed whatever Audra and Ty told her to do, so when she fights back at The Resort I was impressed. She's actually really smart, feisty and resilient. I loved her with Callum their chemistry was hot. He was such a great protector and I loved how possessive he was, together they made a great team. I loved the ending and was so happy to see her reunited with Audra and Ty and I hope at some point we get to revisit them.

Tropes:
~scifi prison planet
~forced proximity
~survive the "game"
~protector hero

I'm a sucker for a good "survive the game" trope, and this one revolved around that. I was also excited to hear Maci's back story and know how she ended up on this prison planet (and how she was going to survive). I'm happy to say her character did not disappoint, and I loved how she really came into her own and proved that she's a little badass. And while there's a lot of talk (and attempts) of SA in this series, I can't say it's not super realistic that women would be treated this way in societies where men don't have to abide by the law. Which makes seeing a lot of those men get gutted by our heroines (and their heroes) that much more satisfying lol.

The heroine is Macie , we meet her in the first book but after their escape and capture she finds herself in zone two, otherwise known as “The Resort”. A place where rich assholes come to buy women and to hunt other prisoners.

The Hero: Callum he is on death row in Zone 2 and has been there for nearly a year and it is his turn to be executed in a bloody game of hunt for the rich watching.

Long story short, they both end up as hunted so an alliance/ relationship blossomed out of this.
A bit miraculous that they survived everything , and that they also had time to fu@k in the most close to death situations😑😑 but they do have a HFN.

4/5 hellkitten stars.

Maci has been separated from Tyson and Audra, and sent to a brothel for the wealthy. When she kills a "client", his hunter brother wants revenge. She is sent to become the prey, along with another inmate on death row.

At first I wasn't sure I would like Maci. Although she has a sixth sense, and knows her tech, I wasn't sure she was made of tough enough stuff to survive. It irked me when she still refused to talk. I was thinking she was really stupid when they could hurt her or worse. Finally, she starts speaking and making better decisions. She become a likable and believable MC.

I can honestly say I like Callum as much as I like Tyson, which is a whole lot. He is the brute strength she needs to survive. She is the savvy tech guru they need to survive. They make a great couple.

I liked Audra and Tyson's story better, but this was a very good one.

Hunter had a different vibe than the previous book. I truly enjoyed how Maci was fighting the Big Brother. And even though Callum played mostly second fiddle, it didn't take long for me to start rooting for him.

Okay this book owns

The premise is a different vibe from the first book and could be read as a standalone. Death row inmates being hunted by rich people for sport.

Usually I roll my eyes at scifi hacker writing, but the tech made sense and the heroine (and hero) were badass🤘

The Most Dangerous Game trope! 😂

Barney from The Simpsons saying 'The most dangerous game? What could it be? Hmm...'. as he leans his head against an empty wall mount with a brass plaque that says 'Barney', while Mr. Burns stares at him with an evil grin.

This book is high action, and kept me on the edge of my seat nearly the entire time! Maci (FMC) was a hacker and a total badass in her own way. Her personality was different from the first book, but I was mostly okay with that because she made a lot of clever decisions and I really liked her chemistry with Callum (MMC).

(As a side note, this is one of the few times I've seen a FMC who looks really young for her age, where the serious downsides of that are also shown. In the last book, Maci was often viewed as a 'child' (she’s 20), so I was a bit concerned her story might feel weird. But the author navigated the issue well without it getting weird. 👍)

So up until ~70%, it was 5⭐ for me. Then Maci jumped the shark. She impulsively decides she wants to

So it all works out, but only because the author handed Maci a Venti full of Liquid Luck™. That said, the climax did pay off with some epic badass moments—I just wish another path got them there.

This was a really intense, thrilling read! Much more action packed than I expected, but it kept my attention the entire way through.

This story continues with Maci, the quiet and mysterious young girl from the first novel. After being recaptured, she is taken to Zone Two, where she gets dolled up and sent to take on her first client. By chance, this client is paying to not only have some fun with Maci, but also for his brother to participate in a hunting game (a la "The Most Dangerous Game"). His brother's prey is the death row inmate, Callum, and Maci is immediately intrigued and attracted to the prisoner she sees on the screen. Maci activates her badass mode and KILLS the client when he tries to rape her - unintentionally, because she "didn't expect him to die from a few hits" 🤣 🤣. She's then taken and added to the deadly hunt along Callum, because the rapist's brother wants to... again, rape and kill her as revenge.

As for Callum, he knows he won't be able to survive this hunting game, and only wants to go out in a blaze of glory by taking his hunter with him to hell. That all changes after he meets and saves Maci. Callum initially thinks Maci is a honey trap for him, because she looks so perfect to him and he's immediately smitten with her. They have communication issues at first, because they don't speak the same language, but eventually, that issue gets resolved.

Maci, our heroine:

Maci was always a fascinating character, because she was very mysterious and quiet and almost supernatural. But in this book, we get her POV and thought process, and she was so badass she was basically female Rambo (if Rambo had mad haxxing skillz). By the end, it got almost a bit too ridiculous how smart and badass she was, single handedly causing murder and mayhem everywhere she went.

But who am I kidding - it was incredibly enjoyable to read about. Also, I just about fell in love with her from this:

Scott Hansen looks grim and determined, still wearing his helmet, complete with infrared goggles, and holding his rifle. His jaw bulges when he sees me being led toward him, and my heart jumps into my throat. He looks just as determined to kill me as I am to survive.

“You’re dead, bitch,” he growls as my escort brings me to a halt facing him, with the host guard between us.

“So is your brother,” I say through clenched teeth.

Callum, our hero:

Callum was basically a walking boner. Don't get me wrong - he had his badass moments where he helped Maci, and he was sweet... but my God, this guy would constantly be getting hard at EVERYTHING Maci said or did. At extremely inopportune times. Or opportune times. Or whenever, honestly. They could barely communicate with pantomiming, half naked and on the run from death robot dogs that would rip them apart and a hunter with a rifle, and Callum would ALWAYS be down for some sweet lovin'. There was way more banging in this novel than I expected there would be, considering their circumstances. Maci literally had to tell him "down, boy" when he kept trying to smex her while she was trying to communicate important survival info to him 😂.

All I can say is he's one horny boi. I did like him a lot more than Ty from the first novel. There was no weird OW drama, and he was worshipful and obsessed with Maci. There's no way in hell he'd find a better girl than this queen 💅. He's also super jealous and possessive (getting territorial when he saw Maci hug Ty), which I loved.

This one ended on a positive note, and the finale was quite exciting. All in all, this was a death game survival thriller with lots of erotica sprinkled in. And I loved it!

Safety:
* Heroine is an inexperienced virgin, never been in a relationship. Reason is she was a shut-in loner, helped by the fact she looks like a very young girl.
* Hero is NOT a virgin, and is mentioned to be experienced.
* No real OM drama - heroine originally was going to be prostituted to a rich client, but the queen ended his life real fast. The client's brother keeps wanting to rape her before killing her, but he dies for that too. This guy's son then wants to rape and kill her, too (smh this family of idiots 😔).
* No OW drama - hero falls for heroine hard and fast, and only has eyes for her.
* No protection or condoms, although all female prisoners have been sterilized. So no babies.
* HEA with no epilogue

Boning on the run is my fave! Like the first book I really enjoyed the first 60 ish percent. Maci, the shy girl from book one, has been put in a prison prostitution zone where basically the women prisoners are sold to rich men. She kills the first man and they put her in some enclosure with another prisoner sentenced to death. they are being hunted by the dead man's brother for fun but also for revenge.

It's insta list ofc and they end up banging it up while running for their lives. All good except when they are close to getting out of the enclosure, Maci has an attack of conscience and decides to go back for the rest of the women with a half baked plan. This means that everything they did for most of the book was for nothing. She undid all their progress with one decision.Of course they were successful in the end but like what?? this happened in the first book. They were close to freedom but decided to sacrifice themselves for the good of the whole which was fine. It's for the good of the whole, but everyone else is awful to them at every turn. I hate martyrdom. Give me a book where the heroine is like you know what, they suck. I'm gonna go live my best life. I'm curious about the next book because it looks like they all build on the other and I really wanna know if they ever get off the planet. But I'm taking a break to let my annoyance die down.

Great world building

Really intense, action packed story with a good amount of steam. Loved the heroine, her Vulnerability and innocence juxtaposed against her tenacity and determination.

The hero was rough and alpha but also tender and devoted to the h.

No complaints.

The Running Man in another galaxy meets savvy diva.
I enjoyed book #1 so much that I didn’t think book #2 could possibly be better. But I was wrong. So far, book #2 is my favorite. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Maci, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked her.
I will say that at the beginning I didn’t understand why Maci refused to communicate when the women were only trying to show her the ropes. It was silly for her to refuse to talk to them. So when Maci did start talking and coming into her own, I thought it was a very quick character shift—like she turned into Audra within a matter of hours.
That being said, I did like Maci a lot. She was very intelligent with the will to live. I’m glad she fought back instead of letting that tool rape her. He got exactly what he deserved.
The running man plot was interesting. Callum and Maci speaking differently languages added a nice touch. Being put in the same situation where a hunter was plotting to kill them made them have to work together to stay alive. They quickly became close, spinning into a heated romance. Emmy writes steamy love scenes. What I like best about them is that there’re not too raunchy.
One of the most interesting concepts in this book were the robot dogs. They reminded me of the dogs in Hunger Games, although I think those were actually mutated humans. But the dogs in Hunter were done much better. Maci’s tech savviness and being able to manipulate the dogs was great.
In the situation that Maci and Callum were it, I would’ve been okay with them just saving themselves. Maci’s rescue mission seemed farfetched and suicidal. In the end, I’m glad it worked out well and I loved seeing those robo dogs in action.
Hopefully, in the future we get to see more of Maci and Callum. I loved them as a couple. I also want to know about Zone 3 and what happens with the girls. This series is very addicting, and is now one of my favorite sci-fi series. Book #3, here I come.

I had a similar experience with this second instalment in the series as the first. Which is, I gulped down the first half with great eagerness, and then lost momentum after the mid-point. Both Maci and Callum are compelling leads, equally ruthless and honourable in their own guarded ways. The events that lead to them being set loose in a fenced enclosure, to be hunted to death by a rich man for entertainment, are just as twisted as you would imagine. Violence, rape and abuse are built into the bones of the prison planet system. So it’s powerful to see the bond they build with one another, across a language barrier and in extremis. But there comes a point where the character development and the relationship development plateaus and the violence and threat escalates, and that’s when I started to check out. Still, I got caught on the hook of the characters who will be in the next book, so I will probably read that sooner rather than later.

Another great addition to this world! Just like the first one, it is well written and fast paced with the right amount of drama for the situation. This one has a slight Hunger Games aspect to it. Even though it had some of that with it and is a somewhat newly popular prison planet setup it, it still felt fresh and new. I was on the edge of my seat wondering how they were going to get out of the bad situation. If aliens aren't for you, don't worry this series doesn't have any (that I know of yet anyways). It is sci-fi and takes place far into the future with humans occupying many planets and moons.

For "safety readers"
5*s can't wait for the next one!

I liked this one as much as the first. Glad to hear Maci’s story and learn more about her. Some things toward the end fell into place a bit too conveniently, but just roll with it and you’ll enjoy it even as you roll your eyes. I had to get the audible book too as I don’t have the luxury of being able to read all day. I have to get things done on my day off. The female narrator is great. The male… his voice is so robotic I kept wondering if it was actually a computer. And it was a tad too slow; speed up the the vocals and it’s fine. Overall a good read.

This is different than the previous one. Didn't think Maci had it in her, but she did it! At first I was really skeptical when I saw she was the FMC. She was just too jumpy, too scared, too naive. I think she was meant to "toughen up" during her stay at the resort (which she did), but since it only lasted like 10 minutes, I feel her character development should've been better written. They throw her in the enclosure, and suddenly she is brave and strong.
I liked her and Callum together and all they had to do to shut down the entire place was fun to read.

I really loved the characters. Maci wasn't annoying, had a good head on her shoulders and was someone to root for! Cal was super swoony and just perfect.

My only issue was for what should have been a suspense type situation I was kinda bored there in the middle of the book. It needed something you know? More characters? Maybe some laughs? Not sure.

Either way it was still a great PNR - onto book 3!

Great Book Two

It was just as captivating and exciting as the first one? Loved it that, Maci, for being such a shy person pull such a great escape and found love with, Callum, to boot! Plenty of action, adventure, passion for survival, and steamy hot romance with awesome characters. A must read and so read to read the next book?

I guess I'm not committed to the series. I really enjoyed this story. Similar format to the first book but still very interesting. I thought it started a bit slower than the first book. But I loved Callum and Maci together.

They have a bit of a language barrier, which does get somewhat resolved about halfway through. It was good seeing a new side to Maci in this story. A real badass!

What a fun find this series is! Here we have Maci's story. She was grabbed at the end of book one, and now we're getting to see what other zones are like. I'm still diggin the series and the world and the characters...yeah, I can't wait for book three.
