It takes the fallen to save the damned.

Harper Sinclair doesn't own any books. If she can avoid it, she doesn't read or write at all. Words are dangerous. Beyond the cover of a book, words rearrange themselves for Harper, becoming messages from beyond. Brutal messages. Terrible messages. When she writes, awful things flow from her fingers. She's a spiritual writer haunted by demons.

Lucas Fox is one of the fallen, an angel whose murderous past keeps him from Heaven. Whose protective, chivalric nature keeps him from Hell. He lives between worlds, content to enjoy his vices while doing just enough to keep him out of the underworld.

But when Harper is forced to sign a contract for a house she buys in Havenwood Falls, the words that appear aren't her name. Instead, she pens a dire message threatening a fallen angel whose old alliance with a ruler of Hell has made him a target of a powerful demon lord. A warning that draws Lucas Fox to Havenwood Falls to settle old scores and puts Harper Sinclair directly in the line of danger.

This is paranormal romance in the Havenwood Falls series of New Adult and Adult fantasy novellas featuring a variety of supernatural creatures. The series is a collaborative effort by multiple authors. Each book is generally a stand-alone, so you can read them in any order, although some authors will be writing sequels to their own stories. Please be aware when you choose your next read. We do recommend that you read Forget You Not first as an introduction to the town and its eccentricities.

Fallen angels, psychics, demons and a bit of steam will keep you engrossed in this exciting novella in the Havenwood Falls series. The loneliness of Harper’s young life will break your heart but her strength and determination in the face of her scary blossoming power and what she discovers about herself is amazing. My favourite character is Lucas, I mean who can not resist the pull of a bad boy who’s good underneath and a sexy fallen angel to boot. The story line is thrilling, with lots of action, suspense and a nice bit of steam. It interweaves well with the characters from other novellas in the Havenwood series’ and even though this novella is complete, there is plenty of room left for more tales from these great characters. I received this book from the publisher under no obligation to review. This in no way influenced my review and all opinions expressed are solely my own.

quick read

As with all the others in this series, this was a quick little read. These books are perfect little reads to stick in between longer books.

Harper Sinclair doesn't read and she doesn't write. She CAN do those things, but she doesn't because she receives messages when she does. Bad messages. When she buys a house and goes to pick up her keys she finds out that she needs to sign a piece of paper that was missed when her aunt did all the paperwork.

Her attempt to sign her name results in a message involving a fallen angel, Lucas Cox. Lucas comes to Havenwood Falls to get to the bottom of the message and deal with the threat. He helps Harper gain some control over her powers in the process. Even after the threat has been eliminated, Harper realizes she has a long way to go in order to control her powers.

Although this was a fairly good book I was kind of disappointed in the ending. Wasn't expecting that, which i know you should never expect a story to end a certain way. We all like a happily ever after, truth be known. This one didn't give that but it does allude to it. Just my thoughts.

I received this book via Red Coat Publishing to give an honest review.

I have never read about a spiritual writer before in any book so I was very surprised to read one in this book. I did not even read the blurb for this book I saw that is was part of the novella series of Havenwood Falls and knew that I had to read this one. Ever since I read my first book about this town of mortal's and supernatural's I had to continue with the books.

In this story Harper is not a normal human she can not read anything or write anything because if she does evil happens. Harper doesn't understand why this is happening to her but with the help of the Sun and Moon council and her aunt her life is bearable. Yet all that changes in an instant when she writes a message naming a fallen angel. It seems revenge plays a part in this story.

It gets good!

Harper learns about why she is connected to demons and it does make sense. There is always a price for certain things and Harper is paying for it.

I really liked how at the end of the story Harper really grew as a person even after dealing with so much!

If you haven't started this series pick them up. It doesn't matter which one you read as they are all different but I don't think you will be disappointed.

I received this ARC from Red Coat Publishing and the author in exchange for an honest review.
I was looking forward to reading another novella in this series, but ended up being rather confused by the halfway point.
The characters came across as flat and uninteresting. A lot of time was spent on the description of the protagonist; how she felt, what she did, contemplating everything, which made her seem self-centred. The secondary characters, few as they were, added no depth to the story in general and only existed to move the plot/protagonist forward.
The writing was too elaborate in explaining everything the main character thought and felt, and the narration was tedious. Written from the protagonist’s point of view, most of the story was spent showing what a special snowflake she is.
The plot had me scratch my head in confusion, wondering if this really was the main point of the story. Also, it was sad that the story did not really have anything to do with Heavenwood Falls, even though it is part of the novella series.
Overall, this wasn’t for me. I have read another book by the same author over a year ago and enjoyed it, but this one didn’t do anything for me. I would give it a pass.

Another Perfect Story

Once again these authors in the Havenwood Falls collection have added a few more new characters that are bringing more of this town to life. Everyone one is unique and tgis one is no different with her very interesting power.

The book leads you on a very interesting mystery while we are learning about Harper and her powers and what she does with them. You can feel her emotions falling off the page and you feel for her basically living her life in that of a personal prison.

This book brings in other characters from other books and it gives you more of a feeling of being in the town. When you write books about the same town it is always a plus to be able to use other characters from other authors to make the town seem more real and like you are truly living there.

Can't wait to read more about Harper and other characters in future books.

Until Next Time... Tabi

I am a fan of R K Ryals, since this is her first book in this series, it’s my first visit to the town of Havenwood Falls. This town is home to all sorts of supernatural beings, shifters, witches, angels and demons just to name a few. Harper was born with her own power, one everyone in the town considers a curse. Harper is a spiritual writer. Sounds cool, except, the messages she delivers are never good. Everyone believes she’s cursed. Reading or writing seems to trigger the messages so she has avoided both her entire life!!
This is Harper’s story. It has it all, action, suspense, paranormal (obviously), and a little romance.
I found it an easy story to become interested in and hard to put down. While I haven’t read any of the other stories I’m now interested in checking out some of the other characters in the town of Havenwood Falls.
This series is written by multiple authors as a stand alone. Authors may write sequels to their own books.

As part of Kristie Cooks Review Crew I was delighted to be offered the chance to read Ink & Fire on pre-release.

Imagine spending your life avoiding written words, never reading or writing. Harper Sinclair knows just how this feels. If Harper reads, terrible messages appear in the writing, if Harper writes, messages that she would never wish anyone to see appear.

When Harper is forced to sign her name a terrible chain of events begins to unfold, events which will threaten her life, put her in the path of both an archdemon and a fallen angel. Can Harper and Havenwood Falls survive or will the darkness take over them both?

This is by far the darkest of the Havenwood Falls series that I have read, but it works brilliantly within the wards. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading other R.K Ryalls novels and this was no exception.

Another hit for Havenwood Falls!!!

Ink & Fire is a Novella by R.K. Ryals. I have to admit that I wasn't sure about several authors writing with a cohesive vision of a complex and diverse setting like this series, but I'm blown away with each installment. Each novella is stand alone and builds one every other story and characters. With each novella, I can't wait to read more and find out more of the hidden secrets that are so a part of this world. Angels, an Archdemon and a curse that has kept Harper Sinclair a virtual prisoner, what more could you ask for in a story? Oh, perhaps a snarky baseball bat with spikes and an attitude! This addition to the Havenwood Falls collection fits right into the lore and mystic that is fast becoming one of my favorite places o read about. I absolutely loved this installment and can't wait to read more.

I love these stories and this little supernatural town.
Harper is a supernatural that no one wants to be. She can’t read or write without bad things happening even something as simple as signing her name. At 23 she just wants to buy her little cabin, take photos of nature and live peacefully. All that changes when Lucas, a fallen Angel, decides he can help her…and save the world by ridding the Demon that possesses her, and his arch enemy, who is attempting to escape the supernatural prison that Lucas placed him in.
This story was very entertaining and fast read. Can’t wait for the next authors set of characters.

Ink & Fire: (A Havenwood Falls Novella) by R K Ryals.

"This is paranormal romance in the Havenwood Falls series of New Adult and Adult fantasy novellas featuring a variety of supernatural creatures. Harper Sinclair feels cursed. She can't look at words, and especially can't write anything for fear that she will be possessed by demons and will write a message that will bring death to whomever the message is for. When she is forced to sign a contract her worst nightmares are realised when she ends up writing a deadly message before being thrown across the room by an evil force. The message was for Lucas Fox, a fallen angel, a warning that a demon he imprisoned is going to escape and come for him to kill him!

Lucas may be a fallen angel, but he isn't evil. He comes to Havenwood Falls both to keep Harper safe, plus to take on Levi, as soon as he escapes his prison. What he doesn't realise, nor does anybody else, is that Harper is going to play as big a part by keeping Lucas safe, and the recapture of Levi as well.

From the Prologue of this book, I was hooked, so much so that I had to read the book in one go. There was some humour, a lot of drama, some very emotional moments, and some passionate moments too. There were twists and turns, and definitely never a dull moment. I was slightly disappointed with part of the ending, I can't say what, because it will be a spoiler, but suffice to say that the romantic in me was feeling a little let down.

On the whole, this was a great read, one of my favourite so far in the series.

Ink & Fire is an installment in the Havenwood Falls series featuring a psychic named Harper with a very unique power and Lucas, a fallen angel. The author took a creative approach to Harper's character. She can't read or write because if she does, she attracts demonic powers that make her predict very disturbing events. Harper has been through a lot and her experiences have really made her grow into an independent woman who has a pretty small social circle. She decides to move into a cabin in the woods and focus on her hobby as a wildlife photographer. Enter Lucas, a cocky fallen angel, whose death she had predicted. They join forces against a demon trying to get revenge on Lucas for his past crimes by going through Harper.

This book was a bit darker than others that I have read in this series. I felt like the romance wasn't as overdone as it had been in other books. I really enjoyed the writing and the pace. How could you not want to get to know a girl more whose inner dialogue says things like:

"The last thing a girl ever wants to hear from anyone - it doesn't matter who it is - is that they smell like Hell."

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Red Coat PR!

If you follow my blog www.2girlsandabook.com then you know what a huge fan/stalker of R.K. Ryals. I was elated to discover she was joining the Havenwood Falls family. Even better, she brought Lucas with her! I could not wait to see what Lucas was going to bring to Havenwood Falls.

As per her usual style of writing, Ryals' MC, Harper, is broken and cut off from the world so to speak due to her condition. She is a messenger of Death. Words are not her friends. Harper finds solace in the gooey goodness of a grilled cheese and I LOVE that about her. I could go on about my love of grilled cheeses but I digress. LOL

Lucas Fox is well know to the author's fans from her Redemption Series. As a fallen angel he is just the right mix of heaven and hell. And just as yummy as grilled cheese.

The fast paced paranormal romance is an excellent fit to the Havenwood Falls Series. I certainly hope there is more coming from the author on Lucas Fox.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my review.

I very much enjoyed this book. The concept of words having such complete power over a person to the point the person can't even pick up a pen to sign their own name was unique to me. Such was the case in this book. When our protagonist picks up a pen to sign her name she can't control it and words come out threatening someone she doesn't even know and cursing them and her. She's then thrown across the room by an invisible force. So begins this story that continues to take the reader on a journey of adventure and discovery.

Like all of the other books in this series, this takes place in Havenwood Falls and contains many elements of the supernatural. It's not as dark as some books in this genre nor as steamy, but it's not for the faint of heart either.

By far this was the most creative, intriguing and brilliant book in the Havenwood Falls universe!! I've never read anything by this author before, but I'm certainly going to be an avid reader from now on. What drew me into this was the plot for sure. A fallen angel comes into town to save a mortal. But it was the dialogue that was so intelligent and entertaining that kept me riveted. The inner voice of our leading lady was both sorrowful and witty at first. She changed rapidly in order to survive and the result is one woman who decides to take control of her own destiny. It's a beautiful thing to watch a character embrace themselves and learn to just take a chance. I am hoping that we'll soon be introduced to a sequel because Harper's story is far from finished!!

Harper is getting ready to start a new chapter in her life. She is a spiritual writer that does her very best to avoid reading and writing. She is forced to sign her name and things take a horrible turn. Lucas is a fallen angel, and named in her latest writing. He arrives in town and they have to work together to save themselves and the whole town.

I loved this book, and it made me tear up several times. Harper has been through so much at a very young age. My heart just ached for her. Lucas was amazing helpful, even with his cocky attitude. I so want to know more about Desi!! Can't wait to see what comes next in this amazing little world!

I got an ARC in exchange for an honest review and I can say, I loved this story! The pace, Harper's personal evolvement and a little catalyst to it all, Lucas Fox.

It was truly refreshing to see an adult wanting to come out of her shell so badly but held back by fears and lack of knowledge on herself. Personal growth is something we all struggle to do somerimes and Harper is a beautiful example of it...and well, sometimes it takes a cocky SoB that's pretty friggin awesome to set some things on motion.

Highly recommend this story. Truly was one of my favorites in the Havenwood Falls series.

Ink and Fire had me hooked from the first couple of pages. This is is officially one of my favorites from the Havenwood Falls series. My first impression was "wow this is going to be great!". I was not disappointed. The story flowed so easily and never seemed forced. It has everything a great story should have. The author created these amazing characters that you immediately connect with. Im with Harper and her love of grilled cheese! Harper is going to be a strong member of Havenwood Falls and I cannot wait to read more.

This is my first book by this author.  I can promise you that I don't expect that it will be the last.

Of the stories I have read in the Havenwood series thus far, this is my favourite.  A tale which is effortlessly packed into novella format, and exceptionally well executed in my opinion.

The ending is not the easy one which the author could have gone with, but rather the one which fit the story.  But the part that I liked the most?  The fact that the door for a follow up is, at the very least, ajar.

More, please.

Ink & Fire is the seventh book in the Havenwood Falls series. This series is a collaboration of stories written by many wonderful authors. Each book in this series is a standalone title and can be read in any order. This novella focuses on Harper Sinclair and I just had such a great time getting to meet her and see her struggles. I just got lost in this story and I just couldn’t put it down. It was just so easy to fall in love with these great characters and I just felt so much for them. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this series.

This story will simply take your breath away. I could not put it down until I finished it. Even then I wanted more. Much more. This author is incredible in her story telling. I have several of her books and she gets me every time. I won’t talk about the story itself because it would be difficult not to give something away. I will however say that this is a story not to be missed. All the elements of a compelling story are in it and the reader will not be able to put it down. Don’t miss out!

I love a book an angel and you definitely find yourself liking Lucas. However, Harper is so much more than whatever she has for the fallen angel. Harper has had a problem with words her entire life. She tries so hard to avoid them at all costs but it finally catches up to her and she has to face her past. With the help of Lucas, her quirky Aunt and another angel, Harper learns what her power truly is and how she can face it.

I loved this book from start to finish. Personally I think the Havenwood Falls series just keeps getting better and better and the authors have done an amazing job so far.

I really hope there will be another book to carry on from this one as I loved Harper's story and how she truly reveals what powers she has. Obviously it's a bonus that an arrogant Adonis angel is thrown into the mix 😍😉

Overall a great story and I look forward to reading more of the Havenwood Falls series.

I love angel books! I completely related to the main character in some ways and her characteristics were perfect. I definitely wanted more to it with her angel and who knows what the future will hold for her and how powerful she will become and the trials she will face. She is now discovering who she is without fear. Such a good read!

First read from this author and let me tell you, I'll be reading more from this author in the future. This book has a plethora of supernaturals. Besides Harper and Lucas's chemistry, I really enjoyed some of the humor. I love a great romance novel along with mystery however when you throw in some light moments, they make the book all the more enjoyable to read. Loved it! Must read for sure!

Good

Author created a great story. I loved the development in the main character. She starts off weak and unsure of herself. Then develops into a confident, strong individual. Good story; however, I do feel like the author has to give us more about her story. Possibly a sequel for Harper?
