One look at Eloise and my whole world f*cking turned upside down.
My cabin in The Black Mountains is where I belong, where I have been my whole life. Until the blonde beauty showed up. Scared. Alone. And f*cking stunning. So I brought her back to my cabin of solitude. She is a goddess that makes my heart race. I can’t resist her innocence, or her luscious lips. I need to taste her, possess her, and feel her under my chest. But someone else wants her forever too. And I’ll be d*mned if I let that b@stard take her from me. Eloise is mine now, and I'll protect her no matter what.
***This is a stand-alone mountain man and virgin romance with no cliffhanger and a lot of steam. HEA guaranteed. Bonus content included after the main story. Enjoy!

Harding is a recluse, who was born in the same cabin that he now lives in. His parents pretty much lived off the grid and although he isn't completely averse to other people, he does prefer his solitary life.
Eloise doesn't remember much about her life before her mother up and moved to the country. Their way of life is oppressive but not unlivable, until she over hears that her step father plans to marry her. Fearing what comes after the forced wedding, she runs away.
Turns out, Eloise has been living in a cult and her step father isn't ready to give her up. Running into Harding becomes her only saving grace.
I knew going in this was a short novella but even by those standards this was really, really short. Harding and Eloise were insta-love on crack. They physically want each other right from the start and they quickly fall into bed together. Their minimal dialogue was short and choppy the ILU was anti-climatic. The love making scenes were smutty but low heat. For me, the chemistry was missing. I didn't really feel their connection and it stole some of the spark in their encounter.
Would I recommend? Harding and Eloise's story ends at 12% and there's another story right after but I skipped it. The writing style isn't really my jam but the quick insta-love (which I usually enjoy) wasn't the worse I've read. Not sure I'd recommend but some might enjoy it to kill a half hour or so . . .

Harding was a lone wolf who lived in the mountains. Until one day he runs into a scared girl fleeing a cult compound. Sparks fly, but so does the compound leader when he finds out one of his girls in with another man
Good story line, but there were a few things that just felt off. First was the wording, it seemed like the author had a thesaurus next to them and used it for common words. Why use scapula instead of shoulder? Then there was the h. A virgin living in cult since she's a child, and the interaction she had with H was a bit over the top, for meeting him that day....
I received an Advance Reader Copy and I am leaving my voluntary review.
Alone, on the mountain, well except for his two dogs, that is the life that Harding has come to live by. Something really has the dogs rilled up, it isn't uncommon for coyotes, but usually they dogs calm down. Not now, something is there. Seeing nothing, Harding tries to go back to sleep, he has to work tomorrow and can't afford to go to work without any sleep. Morning comes way too early, yet he leaves his place to go to work. He sees movement, and then a girl in the street. Something is off, he senses it, but he goes to work. On his way home, he stops real quick at the shop and stocks up on materials he needs. On his drive home, that same woman in the street. This time he stops. Harding is about to learn how fate steps in at all of the best of times.
All she keeps hearing about is "it" and she has no clue what that is. A big things is about to happen to Eloise, and yet she has no say or control of any of it. She doesn't want it. So she escapes. Her first attempt at seeking help/shelter causes dogs to go crazy. The next attempt scares her a bit but she gets into the road in the early morning, that was too risky. Now it is almost evening and she is cold, alone, scared and hungry. When that same truck stops, she maintains eye contact. When the door opens she flees, but doesn't get far. She bumps her head, next thing she knows she is being helped by this very handsome rugged mountain man. Everything is about to change and Eloise is about to have a choice and say, and fate guiding her.
Once back at the cabin, Harding tries to talk with Eloise. He knows her name because when he was in the store in town her step-brother (as it was claimed) was in asking questions about finding her. Harding is not really sure what is going on, but he is drawn to her. He can't shake it. He makes a meal for them, runs a bath for her, tries to reassure her she is safe. He also has to find out what has happened to her. He is about to find out a lot of things, and a lot of these things are not pleasant and very dark. Poor Eloise is a victim of it, not a willing participant. To find answers Harding drives back into town to talk to an elder of the town for answers. Only there is someone else there, none the less, some answers are given. Curiosity gets the better of him, and a small detour from home occurs. This all takes longer than he realizes. He starts back with an urgency.
Eloise wakes to find Harding gone. She doesn't know much about him, but this is not a good feeling she has. He is gone all day. A knock at the door has her panicked. A friend of Harding appears. She lets him in, starts talking to him. He is here to help Harding with the cabin upgrade. Harding arrives home and sees an unfamiliar truck in his driveway. He never has visitors. He gets to Eloise quickly. When he finds out who is there, he is leery but more relieved than anything. He needs to talk to Eloise, alone. He needs answers in order to protect them. Talking is not the only thing these two engage in, and her first time is with someone she chooses to be with, she is not forced. Very dark things happen back at the "Community" and unfortunately Eloise has a sister there, and she is willing to go get her. Dangerous on many levels. Harding and his friend from work go scope the Community, they spot the sister.
Spirals start happening, and as things seem to steam up at home, there is someone that appears, and brings a hostage. A surprise also occurs from this surprise visit. Weapons drawn, promises made, another secret comes out, only this one is good. The other good part is that Eloise has her sister free with her. Aaron (friend from work) and Harding are in the midst of fate showing her cards. There is a finalization to the "Community," more things learned about what is inside. There is also a lot of happiness between Eloise and Harding that happens, and a beginning to their happily ever after, only with the opening that there is most likely a bit more to their story to come.
WOW! A lot happens right from the first page in this story. It is well written and has a great storyline and plot. The characters are well described but lacks some depth at times. The chemistry is over the top and it is very passionate.
The story has a mountain man that has closed his heart because of his dark past. He lives in his cabin and do not socialize. One night he hears his dogs roar but he cannot find anythings in the woods outside his cabin. The next morning he sees a woman on the road on his way to work. Eloise has fled from the sect that has hold her captive. She is very naive because she has not been outside in many years.
A short story that is very captivating and emotional. It is rushed and a bit confusing at times but I like the story a lot. Would have like it to be longer.
I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating. The twists makes you just want to read more. I like the supporting character of Aaron. He is so likeable and has fun remarks.
Absolutely worth the read. Keep the stories about those mountain men coming. They are addictive.
Sappy, with quite a few errors but an enjoyable tale
I read this book as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription (free book but I have to pay £7.99 a month for the subscription)
Eloise escapes from a mysterious home, later established to be a polygmist cult, after something spooks her (although that was a tad confusing as it implied she'd gone that night but we later establish its 3 days after and she was only lost in the woods for 24hours!).This book is another Kindle Unlimited effort that could seriously do with an overhaul and/or proofreading to correct mistakes, but if you just want something not too taxing for a short read then potentially an interesting tale. I think the author could've padded it out and explained a few things slightly better, like who were these mysterious family members, did Harding Jackson's father breakaway from said cult or did the other Jacksons (Harding's Uncle/cousin etc) just end up working for the mysterious kidnapper (& husband to many) "Sir".
Eloise was living in a place called "the community". She knew things were odd there. Run by a man who called himself "Sir". Sir had many wives and one night when one of the women told Eloise she needed to get prepared for the next day, Eloise knew she had to take a chance and make a run for it or she would be given to Sir. Her only regret was leaving behind her younger sister Julian. Eloise met Harding (an older ruffneck that lived alone on the mountain). They had an instant connection and Harding knew he had to help her. Harding was a bit of a loner but he decided to ask a coworker Aaron for help with the task of keeping Eloise from returning to a place she didn't want to be and rescuing Julian along with any other person that didn't want to live at the community. I thought the story was great and I loved how Eloise and Harding let their connection lead them - even though they just met.
Not at all what I was expecting. Some of the reactions by the main male character were, I felt, out of character for who and what he was supposed to be..ie going to the compound and basically putting himself in the spot light and buying female supplies in the same place moments after the clerk was questioned about a missing woman(and him a die hard bachelor) However I do understand it was to move the story forward. I would have appreciated it had one person in the 10+ year established compound (in the wilderness) could have followed her tracks in the snow. Perhaps after being 'accosted ' the clerk in the store told someone he bought girlie items for the first time.. Don't think I am knocking the book OR the writer, I very much enjoyed reading it and despite not agreeing with how it got there, I enjoyed the story. Nice job Ms. Casey!
Sometimes love comes softly. And sometimes it comes like a storm. Forever changing the landscape of our lives. It doesn’t take long, that change. It’s profound. It’s forever.
One day, Eloise made the decision to be brave. And set in motion the elements of change. Seeking safety, she landed in the arms of Harding… A mountain man who thought he only wanted to be left alone. And suddenly, he changed his mind.
This mountain man story was different in many ways… all of them good. Bottom line: I read it in one go, and I loved it. 5 stars.
I loved this short intriguing storyline around a polygamist commune, run by Sir who demanded Eloise marry him! She escapes and meets up with a Harding Jackson a lone wolf in the black mountain. What did Sir have on Eloise’s mother? Had she put her family in danger? Will Harding steal her innocent, naive soul? Really well written read that I highly recommend. Only downside to it was that it was too short a read and could have been a really long intriguing read. This is my honest review of an ARC I received.
This is a fairly quick read, and with so much going on in the book it reads even faster. We’re dropped into the action from the very first words. The drama and suspense spin out from there. I’m not sure what I was expecting in this story, but it certainly wasn’t this, with it’s collection of twists and turns. Eloise is such a strong character, even stronger than she thinks herself. Harding carries such a quiet nobility that I’m not surprised she’s drawn to him. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Love the story. I have always wanted to live out on a mountain in a cabin. He lived his life somewhat isolated with his mother. He promises to get off of the mountain some and takes a job. She is on the run from someone and ends up on his mountain where he lives. He finds her wandering around. She goes to stay with him and they hit it off. It is exciting, fun, suspenseful and so much more. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This is a wonderful read. A story of how a young women's determination to flee a cult lead her finding true love. A man who had closed himself off from others because of being reared away from others. They break down each others barriers to find a life together. Her sister also gets out and starts a life with his friend. I would recommend this book to everyone as a great read, couldn't put it down till the end.
Harding Jackson is a reclusive man. Who just like living the mountains he was born in. A strong man. Eloise Danzer might have been naive. But she had the strength & courage to get away. She just knew what she was growing up at was not the way. She ran. Through everything Eloise went through to be free. She ultimately stands her ground. I really enjoyed reading this book.
one hot alpha mountain man and one young young lost female on the run from trouble, and you have a plot made to touch your heart and keep you reading for hours! this story had an amazing plot, well rounded characters who kept you engaged and wanting to know more right to the end! i received an arc of this story that i happily reviewed
A great story about cults and the types of people who dwell their, how the women, girls are treated by the leaders. Very strange and demeaning and dehumanizing to anyone male or female. The mountain man learns that he has family, even though his father or mother never mentioned them. A story that we all know so well it's interesting and sad. You decide...
A lot of people are forced to be by themselves even surrounded by other people. This story showed one man that found himself in those circumstances. He also learned making friends can become a good thing. Enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone that wants to read a good story.
A fast paced story that has Harrison and Eloise crossing paths as he tries to keep his isolated lifestyle and she’s on the run from her cult family. The fall fast and they fall hard and when the cult comes for her he ensures she never has to return. Read through Kindle Unlimited
Eleanor couldn’t see her way through the woods, but escaping was better than what awaited her back on the Commune. She happened upon Harding Jackson’s cabin, but was on the run again after briefly encountering him and his dogs. Would she get away from Sir and her mother and the plot to marry her to him?
When Eloise sees the writings on the wall for her, she makes a run from Sir and his religious fanatics. On the run and not knowing who to trust she runs into Harding who takes her in and provides her shelter, but can he keep her safe from Sir and the hell storm that’s coming? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I loved this book. It wasn’t my normal taste but I couldn’t stop once I started. The innocence and ruggedness of the characters were the perfect match. I was a quick read with many twists and turns. I received an arc and am happily leaving an honest review
This was a very well-written story dealing with a cult and the woman who ran from it, I could not stop reading I had to know what was going to happen.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It started off unusual to me, where I almost stopped reading. But, I continued on and so glad I did. This book is full of emotions and really gets you hott and bothered.
I had high hopes for this book but it basically turned into a short copycat of Tillie Cole’s ‘Hades Hangmen’ series. Which is beyond amazing and I recommend it highly.
This was a nice hour long read, but I’m ecstatic it didn’t take any longer.
I really enjoyed this book. It was quite interesting reading about how the girls had been brought into a cult by their mother and had the guts to run away. I was practically cheering!
One heck of a weekend! If you are looking for an in-depth storyline then this isn't it, but if you want a good read to get you through a few hours then this is it! Eloise and Harding make a good couple with her innocence and his stubborn mountain man attitude.
This was an interesting short read from this author. I would have liked a longer version, but I still enjoyed the story. Can not wait to see what is next.
