Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling author, Nana Malone writes Sexy Feel-Good Romance and loves of all things romance and adventure.
That love started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin. It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.
This was a great introduction to the Royals Undercover series. The author gives us a glimpse to the boy behind the man who will become the future king of the Winston Isles. Sebastian was young, charismatic, and seemingly a fierce protector of his friend Penny. Although their romance didn't blossom in this prequel, I loved getting the chance to see who these two were and how their lives connected. Now I'm off to get started on their love story.
Cheeky Prince is a fun little prequel to Nana Malone’s Cheeky Royal – for anyone looking to dive into the Royals Undercover series, I would certainly recommend grabbing this one for a bit of background.
In Cheeky Prince we are introduced to our two main characters, getting a quick look into their lives. It’s a bit of background story, information on events that have happened in the past. Although fun, it didn’t do as much as some prequels have been known to do – hence why I gave it a three-star rating. However, with the details that were given I cannot help but hope we will come back to them – or at least get references of some kind – during Cheeky Royal and Cheeky King.
Cheeky Prince is certainly worth grabbing if you have a bit of time – it’s super short, can be read in no time at all – and are looking to dive into the Royals Undercover series.
Cheeky Prince is an intro to the Royal Undercover series. Get to know the boy behind the man. A fierce protector and a caring friend. Sebastian is a lion at heart as evidenced in his interactions with young Penny. The love affair that is Penny and Sebastian begins here.
Cheeky Prince is a quick delve into the Winston Isles and the start of Penny and Sebastian's story. Cheeky Prince invites the reader to start to get to know the characters and their backstories, as well as gives the stories behind many of the incidents that are mentioned in Cheeky Royal and Cheeky King. Cheeky Prince was a fun and fast read, and I enjoyed it immensely.
A fun prequel to Cheeky Royal, giving a little insight into Penny and Sebastian's childhood and the events that led up to Penny being assigned to bring Sebastian home. As I've come to expect from this author, this quick read is well-written and engaging, giving us just enough of the characters to make me want more.
Quite interesting way to begin this book (series) as you will read a really short story which I assume in to introduce the characters as children and to get to know their parents as well. Then the book moves to the next edition which brings us to the children as adults, living their lives. Only problem is, one of this is the Prince and he is out searching, living his life, living is his passion, but has to be back home before his birthday for a very important vote. He doesn't know it but his life is in danger and his father has sent one of the Royal Guards to protect him and to get him to come back home. And now the fun in this well written story line begins! At first I thought that the story was lagging, and then the sneaky thing put it's hooks into me and reeled me in without letting go. It is a funny, suspenseful, intriguing story that once you are on the train, the ride will take you on a thrilling adventure.
The characters are remarkably well written and you will find yourself falling in love with Penelope (Len), Ariel and Prince Sebastian. Penny is, well, she's a klutz but she is also one of the Royal Guards and the one that the King hand selected for this mission to protect his son and bring him back. Thing about Penny is, her klutziness works well in her favor in quite a few situations within the story. She is charming, beautiful, sweet, talented as an artist and has a bit of a confidence issue; only because of the treatment she has had from her father and brother. Oh don't get me wrong, they love her and protect her and want her to follow in the family business (being in the Royal Guard), but they have no confidence in her abilities and will let her know how she has messed up.
Sebastian is the Prince and along with that has responsibilities that he will have to come to terms with. He's handsome, hot and educated, and of course...he is a Prince. Although no one knows that, except Penny (Len), and she knows him from when they were children and would play together along with his cousin (who is someone that needs to fall off a cliff somewhere). Between her and Ariel, the devise a plan for Penny to get close to the Prince so that she will be able to protect him better. They didn't count on the two to end up having feelings for each other. Another problem, they both have secrets that could destroy their new relationship. They have decided to come clean with each other when an unexpected visitor with news ends their chance of talking and opens up one of the secrets. And the book ends! Yep, huge dun dun dun!!! Can't you just hear that tune and wait for the announcer to say "Stay tuned for scenes from next season's episode"! Fortunately we won't have to wait that long for the next book!
This is a wonderfully entertaining read and I Highly Recommend this book!
This prequel to the Cheeky Royal was a fun fast read that really gives some background to what has been going on in the lives of the characters. After reading I think I have a better understanding of what these characters have been through and why they are making some of the choices that they are.
The writing is fabulous and the story grabbed my attention and held it from the first page. This prequel definitely got meexcited to dive into book 1.
This book is good. I love royalty books with twists and turns and this one teases you with what is to come. I can't wait to read the other books that comes after it.
Malone’s book started at a very nice pace, the interesting story of 3 kids and 2 adults... from what came next, I believe that what Malone was doing was getting the readers acquainted with the characters’ (quite interesting) personalities. However, suddenly the story ends and we’re presented with a preview (8 chapters) of "Cheeky Royals"... I felt really confused and tried finding out if I’d be reading a 2 in 1 book previews or if the download was done correctly, because I felt like "Cheeky Prince" was the smallest short story I’d read since I was 10.... Could it be a prequel??? Not convinced, I decided to keep on reading. Luckily the writing, the story and its appeal, the way I think it will captivate other readers besides myself - because it is that good!!! - are some of the reasons I’m not going just for 1 star... Right now I cannot wait for "Cheeky Royals" to be released. And that single feeling of being anxious for it is the reason why I’ve given this book 3 stars...... but it could have had a much much better review, which makes me sad!
Cheeky Prince a short (free) novella gives us insight into the backstory of Sebastian and Penny, which provides us with a feeling oh their friendship as children. That friendship doesn't come up in cheeky total until about a quarter of the way through Cheeky Royal. The central part of the first quarter is setting up Penny and her feelings of failing at what her family had always excelled at, being a member of the royal guard. When presented with a request from the king to find, follow then protect Prince Sebastian, she panics. That I'd until a server about hey boyfriend is revealed, causing her to feel the need to get away.
Sebastian, on the other hand, had been on a personal secret mission and had been hiding in plain sight to achieve his goals of finding a replacement to head the kingdom he is destined to rule. As a tale of intrigue, suspense, and secrets commences, we are left to determine if the secrets each holds will be the demise of their friendship or if it will lead to something more.
Sebastian and Penny are no longer playmates. It's been many years. Now he's the next in line to be king and she's in the Royal Guard. They just don't see each other...until...
On assignment, Penny meets her old friend who doesn't remember or at least recognize her. To him, she's his arty, clumsy, adorably hot, neighbor. He's living down his rep with women. She's trying to prove her worth and get over boyfriend shock. Neither is going to go there. Problem is their bodies aren't listening.
It was impossible for me not to fall for either of them alone and together. She is adorable and so much more than she appears. I love her self-defense skills. He is hot and focused on changing his life. They make great friends and the battle to stay that way is a fun ride. I enjoyed touching base with some old book friends. The emotions range from funny to sad to dangerous. Never a dull moment. I am ready and waiting for part two. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
This is the prequel to this series. Sebastian, Penny, and Ashton are all children growing up together. As Sebastian was about to turn eleven, we are introduced to their palace lives and games. Ashton being the impossible and evil child we all encounter in our youth. A bully!
As they all go off to school and grow into young adults, their futures are shaped. In Sebastian's case, he discovers that he is not so much into the responsibilities of eventually becoming King. In Penny's case, she knows she wants to pursue her dream of painting rather than be part of the Royal Guard. In Ashton's case, well, he is a lost cause full of resentment and fake entitlement.
This is the intro to the series. It is a great beginning!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thank you to the author for sharing it with me.
This is a very short story that gives the background of the characters in Cheeky Royal. The first interaction between Penny and Prince Sebastian is seen. You also find out what really happened between the Prince and his former fiancee. It tells how the relationship between Penny and Robert started. Robert, we discover, is Michael's best friend. That explains what happened in Cheeky Royal between Penny, Robert and Michael. There was also a sneak peek at Cheeky Royal. Certainly would make you want to read Cheeky Royal if you had not read it. Even though this was a short story, it was interesting and well developed which made me more anxious to read Cheeky King. This was too short to rate any higher than three stars. Would be better as the Prologue to Cheeky Royal.
Sebastian Westmore gets some news that he wasn’t expecting in a way you wouldn’t expect. Penelope “Penny” Marsh thinks she knows what she wants but when she thinks she’s got it she seems a little unsure. It was interesting to see how much these two actually had in common.
This story is a very short story. You may think that since it’s a novella that you don’t need to start the series here. But if you want a tease, or incentive, to read the rest of the series this is the perfect place to start. It ends with us feeling like we have one foot off a cliff. That means you will be left with no choice but to immediately start Cheeky Royal.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Nana Malone’s Cheeky Prince (Royals Undercover series prequel) is a heatedly sexy ride that’s total fun. It’s also very well written and with a wonderful cast of characters. You don’t need to be a lover of royalty romances yo love this story, though of you are that’s the cherry on top for you. If you’re in the mood for this sort of fun romp you really can’t go wrong with this book. Pure unadulterated fun between the pages (and between the sheets). But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
This is my first experience reading a story by this author. The basic plot is sound and the characters are all interesting.
Sebastian, Ashton and Penny are introduced to us first when they are children. Sebastian has a soft spot for his young friend, Penny, and tries to protect her from his obnoxious cousin, Ashton.
This is one of the shortest novellas I have ever read! I really do think it could have had a little more in it, that's why I gave this rating. It has some interesting facts about these characters and certainly has peaked my interest.
I’m not a huge fan of novellas, but since the other books are out, I figured I would give this one a go. I’ve been really into the whole royals thing lately so this was definitely a fun go for me. I’m pretty sure this country is in the Caribbean, which is kind of awesome, and frankly who doesn’t want to live on an island in the Caribbean? I liked the introduction of the characters, but it was very short so it’s not like you get a sense of them, more like a glimpse into their pasts that will help inform who they end up being in the later books. I’m off to read the next installment!
Absolutely loved this prequel Cheeky Prince from Author Nana Malone.
In this story and it really is short prequel we find out a lot about both Penny's and Sebastian's childhood, This will be important when moving in to the others in this series!!
This is a quick read just to give you a taste of what is to =come, I look forward to Sebastian's and Penny's story. Although a quick read it was written well and gave us some great insight!! KUDOS!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review for Rockstar Book Muse
Cheeky Prince is an introduction/prequel to the upcoming Royals Undercover series. It's short - Only four chapters and an exclusive sneak peak of Cheeky Royal. In it you get to meet Sebastian and Penny - see them as kids and as adults. It's just enough to whet your appetite. I only read the four prequel chapters so I didn't get sucked into the story. It appears as if this will be a fun story with interesting characters. I can't wait to read the rest of the Royals Undercover series.
This is the first book in this series. This is the book that introduces you to the characters and the story line. It had me gripped wanting to know from Prince Sebastian and Penny. I absolutely love these characters and want so much more from them. There is just something that is easy to see between them right from the moment that he saves her. A great book to introduce you to the story line and get your attention to have you wanting more.
This novella is a great start to Royals Undercover. The characters are enjoyable and it's makes me want to read more of this great series. The plot is short sweet and charming. Plus it gives you some background to Penny and Sebastian relationship. It will make you anticipate reading the next book in the series. What a awesome start that I absolutely enjoyed reading.
Loved this intro to the Royals Undercover series. I was actually a little confused when I got the arc, I didn't realize I got a short story as well, so it was a nice little surprise. We get a quick glimpse of Sebastian and Penny and sort of where it all began. I thought it was a nice little treat, got me ready for Cheeky Royal and was ready to dig right in once I finished this prequel. All in all, nice little intro. #B2BKristina
So this is a free prequel that introduces us to the characters for the Cheeky Royal series. It was very short, but was enough to get me interested in the story of Penny and Sebastian. Yes, it is only a prequel and will leave you wanting more. I am rating it for the short that it is.
I enjoyed this small snippet into the world of the royals! It was intriguing and definitely peaked my curiosity to want to read all of the books ☺️just enough flashback to give a small background, but didn’t give too much away. I have a feeling I’m going to fall head of heels for Sebastian and Penny! I already love her character her and see some of myself in her. She’s relatable and I feel like she is going to give the cocky royal prince a run for his money 😃 can’t wait to continue on!
The start of the who series. A little taster of who Sebastian, Penny, Roone, and Ariel are before they get shoved into conspiracies and Royal intrigue.
I have already read every single book referencing the Winston Isles, starting from Lucas and working up to the game changing To Love a Prince with Tristan and Ariel.
This series has fast become one of my favourites. Give this a whirl, you will not be disappointed.
I read this AFTER reading Cheeky Royal so my rating is based on that...I loved more detail into the backstory between Seb and Penny, what happened with Seb's broken engagement, a glimpse into Robert and Michael's relationship. It is a quick and easy read. Definitely looking forward to reading Cheeky King.
Priceless and funny, The price who ran away to find some that he was related too, find the personal meant he could walked away not being a King!! I'm not sure how long you will have to read to get to the end, cliffhangers beware! Funny the way the story was absolute awesome writer of this story!! ENJOY
Ok, this was an introduction to the Royals Undercover series and I read it after I had already read Cheeky Royal. This is a quick prequel of sorts and gave me more of the background to the story of Sebastian and Penny as it gave more insight into their childhood and background. Can be read in any order of the other books.
60% into this and still no story. One thing there IS: loads of INANE detail ! Good grief, move on and find the story if there is one! Do slow moving a snail could have run backward and forward twice!! Also, these graphic "artists" have gone way over board with men's abs and the "V"........this is really ridiculous. Poor model Isn't good enough?
