A book that starts with research and gets into enlightenment.

Inventing a drug that swoops you into enlightenment within minutes of consumption, the main protagonist is all elated with a power. But things don't go so serene after that. The way the books talks about passion for certain academics and the level of details you get throughout can be a little overwhelming if you aren't from a science background. Fortunately I was 😅! The protagonist's charachter buildup is also a bit morally grey which keeps the story intresting - you may love him, hate him, but you can't ignore him 😜

The book reminded me of many concepts I read recently in a few books. To name a few:
1. The Villains duology by V.E Schwab - developing EO powers and using them relentlessly
2. The Poppy War by R.F Kuang - The Shamans using meditation and drug as a technique to connect and leverage the power of Gods.

And that made me like reading this book all the more because I was aware of the concept still hinged to the novelty in the way which the author used it.

Genre: #fiction

The Perfect Drug is a great compilation of science-fiction as a base and a collective topping of philosophy, mythology-inspiration, and self-discovery. Revolving around a protagonist who simply wants to be known in the world for something excellently different, it connects the—both main and side—character's voice to the idealistic, yet surprisingly pragmatic, themes of the story. New ideas are explored throughout the slow-paced story but none are forced for implementation which gives some liberty to the reader for exploring their own opinions while patiently turning every page.

Recommended to all those who are looking for an intriguing set of concepts, intelligent manner of bringing these concepts together, and a relaxed pace that can be enjoyable.

Disclaimer: I received a physical copy of this via the author himself but that, in no way, influences my rating and/or review. Thank you, Chaintanya Saini!

“The Perfect Drug” by Chaitanya Saini has a unique concept, bound to make you want to read it. I haven’t read much books on spirituality (I do not usually enjoy the genre), but The Perfect Drug was quite good. The plot revolves around Ananya, who gets admission to St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi to study Chemistry. He makes friends, and no different than anyone his age, is full of curiosity and excitement for the journey that lies ahead. He finds a girl named Anushree, with whom he really connects to on a spiritual level, and becomes close to her. But she becomes a drug addict and one fine day disappears out of the blue from Ananya’s life, leaving him heartbroken. Ananya finds a book named “Psychedelic Chemistry” that immensely interests him and hence begins his quest of creating a drug that would enable a person to attain a higher state of consciousness, to rise above the maya veil. But with great power comes great responsibility. Will Ananya be able to handle such a divine and powerful creation?
The writing style is hugely ornamental, which works great for explaining certain things. But its prolonged persistence just makes the narration fall flat. However, I liked how the author effortlessly linked science with spirituality. The book has a lot of chemistry facts and explanations, and I liked how the entire thing was put together. Whenever Ananya explains some outlook of his, I find myself reading with immense interest to grasp it all.
However, I do feel that it could have been a much shorter read. It is unnecessarily dragged at places, with numerous descriptions, to sit through which you have to be really patient. But Ananya’s character development was interesting, which kept me reading. How his character goes through a spectrum of shades, and how he deals with everything happening around him was well crafted.
All in all, The Perfect Drug was unlike anything I have ever read, with a captivating plot, and that is what is going stay with me.

My Rating – 3/5

P.S. - I received a free copy of the book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Could there be any perfect drug that can help achieve that divine state of bliss Buddha achieved? That immense control over one's own mind. Ananya is on a path to discover the truth behind induced enlightenment through psychedelic chemistry to attain heightened state of ecstasy. But with great powers comes great responsibilities. Will Ananya see the thin line between use and abuse? Will he be able to fulfill his ambitions and emerge as an enlightened person?

The book started with Ananya pursuing honours level chemistry through a prestigious college in Delhi and starting to explore his college life. He falls for a girl who will later leave him without stating any reason and disappearing from his life in thin air. This led to major emotional turmoil for him and when he was on the verge of complete breakdown life presented him with an opportunity. His zeal to break the confinements of college boundary and do something remarkable in life grew with time.

This book has lot of things going on. It is a search for the reason of global deterioration of conscious health with a combination of science fiction, philosophy and spirituality. A new kind of approch to something not much people care to talk these days and that is spiritual and mental health.

Starting was very slow and it was going with a snail's pace and on top of it the pesky, sexist remarks of the main character was irksome. Behind the veil of a studious, intelligent boy he is a perverted mind who makes nasty comments about his teachers. He has a weird fascination over lips of girls which actually made me laugh to think about. But his faulty character is true, relatable and downright authentic.

I must say this book is something different, pretty unusual. Though it's draggy with way too much unnecessary details, the amount of information especially about chemistry put into the story is remarkable.

The main protagonist of the novel is Ananya, who is a student in a prestigious college. He falls in love with Anushree. She leaves Ananya heartbroken. Inorder to mend his broken heart, he sets on a goal to discover the perfect drug which gives a higher level of consciousness. Was he successful in creating it?

The author has written a novel with a unique plot that doesn’t come close to anything I’ve read before. It covers topics such as spirituality, philosophy and science. Reading this novel was indeed a great experience.

Ananya’s love for Anushree and chemistry motivates him to discover the prefect drug. While doing research, he comes across a book named ‘Psychedelic Chemistry’ which laid the foundation for his drug. I initially thought that the author wouldn’t explain the science behind the discovery of the drug. And I was wrong. This was the best part of the book. The lab experiments and interactions with the cat are worth mentioning here.

The author also did a wonderful job in portraying the relationship of Ananya with his cousins.

Some incidents must have been easily avoided. It was too descriptive and made the novel more lengthy. The pace of the novel was slow at the start, but once you get connected with the story it’s hard to put down. The facts are well researched. The explanations are simple and easy to understand. But I can’t say the same for everyone.

I recommend it to readers who would love to read books with an interesting plot.

One of the worst books I have ever read. The main protagonist, the guy, is a sexist and a pervert. And is rather manipulative. I should have DNFED this one.

Synopsis:

While recovering he finds a way to formulate ‘the perfect drug’ which has the ability to improve his state of mind. He tries to change the world through this ability and gain power. He views the world through a different outlook after the intake of ‘the perfect drug’. Will Ananya be able to find the happiness he lost after Anushree left him? Will he succeed in changing the world and gaining power.

My Review:

To start with the characters, this book contains a number of characters. Ananya, the protagonist is an ambitious, hard working and a flamboyant person. His passion for chemistry makes him more unique and special. His attachment towards his parents, sisters and his friends is another beautiful attribute I noticed in this character.

Ananya’s father was another character I loved in this book. A kind, understanding and a supportive person. The way he uplifted the morale of Ananya when he was feeling low was so encouraging. Then comes his aunt, with her super good food! Those parts in the book were the best because it was about food!! I was eagerly waiting till Ananya reaches his aunt’s place. The entry of Anushree was the turning point of the story for me. Her entry changed the whole story including Ananya. The character was unmistakably beautiful and pure. His friends, Akshay and Kanika are type of friends you’d wish to have in your life. Determined and supportive.

Moving on, this book was more than a self- help book for me. I was never a fan of self – help books. But the way author has narrated this story of Ananya was captivating. It took me good two weeks to read the book completely because I needed time and patience to digest certain facts in the book. I loved the way the author had played with words. The author’s research in chemistry was another fascinating fact I encountered in this book. I also found this book very informative, where I started researching about the human energy fields.

The author had used certain attributes of Ananya, to explain different aspects of life. I really loved the fact that Ananya and his uncle Prakash work hard in order to pursue the highest level in what they do. He beautifully explains that if a person wishes to reach higher, he has to work for it than sit and dream about it. The following are my favourite quotes that I actually noted that can be applied in our own lives.

“Sometimes we have to witness chaos in order to measure the price of peace”.

“Guddu, if you start something, then see it to the end or don’t start at all.”

” ‘Do you know who wrote Ramayana?’ ‘Valmiki’ The hermit said, ‘Yes. But do you know that he was dacoit before, which obviously means that he killed on purpose?’ ‘Do you think that he had not forgiven himself, he would have penned the greatest epic of Hinduism without internalizing the divinity of the characters?’ He paused and added, ‘Devotion is a very powerful tool.’ ‘And so is introspection,’ Ananya countered. ”

The use of religious quoting as well as divine characters was another noticeable factor.

“Allah doesn’t burden a soul more than it can afford . Koran verse two, two hundred eighty – six”

Another fact I really appreciate about this book is that the author hasn’t fantasized love as in some books or movies. The pain, the infatuation. the desire and the need has been beautifully described. The reality of love and the healing has been stunningly described.

“No girl would like to go out with a guy for whom she has to jump in a fire to prove her faith. Besides, I find it kind of Romantic that a king lost his kingdom, and later his life, in order to affirm his worth and love.”

Since meeting Anushree till she leaves, his poems were one thing I was eager to read. It was a bit cheesy yet extraordinarily beautiful. Following are few parts I loved in this book.

“When you push a strand or two behind the ear,
It makes all the worldly mysteries disappear.”

“There are times when I look at you,
And I wish to shatter every constraint to be with you.”

I actually can relate his writing for Paulo Coelho’s. Spiritually enlightens people and motivates the readers at the same time.

That end, was beautiful. I was upset that we didn’t get an opportunity to know what’s next or Ananya’s plight. The epilogue, Anushree’s diary entries were heartbreaking.

Would I recommend “The Perfect Drug’? That’s a big yes! Specially the fans of Coelho and the readers who love reading self help books, this is a must read! I enjoyed this book and it was indeed an enlightening read. Don’t forget to add this gem to your TBR pile!

As usual I'll start my review talking about the cover , cover is first thing to attract the readers so if i talk about the cover is The Perfect Drug is very interesting but according to me little differ to the storyline but definitely it's with a deep meaning. Blurb is also very well crafted and enough to consider the book. A well written blurb shows the key highlights or way of telling story by the author.

Don't judge the complete story by it's cover it's not only a spiritual thriller rather this book consist more interesting elements from science to humanity with a pleasent splash of spiritual aroma.

It's a story of an extraordinary boy Ananya who belongs to the lower/middle class family amd he is more passionate about Physics and chemistry as well. He is a very ambitious and perspicacious student. Things get change and he got admitted in the chemistry department of most prestigious College St. Stephen. During the academics he fall in love with such a girl , she was scrambling the post effects of drug addiction. To get out of this emotional shattered he invented a drug to enhance the mental retardation towards spirituality.

Concept and content both are unique , interesting and new. All the dialogues , punch lines and scenes are well written. Full on marks for the content and plot. Somewhere i found the story little dragged with inappropriate description but the dialogues are engaging.

This book is a confluence of emotions such as love , care , family, thrill , spirituality and humanity. If you're a science fiction lover I would also recommend you to read this for a fresh and different experience. Well appreciated research regarding all the scientific terminologies.

Narrative is unpredictable , unique and conceptual framework. Must read this one. if you're not a regular reader , this one is for you as well. And i would like to congratulate the author for writing such an important novel. "The Perfect Drug is one of my best reads from January."

The Perfect Drug by Chaitanya Saini is a self-help book.

About the story:

The story whirls around protagonist Ananya, an intelligent boy who adores science. He lives in his Aunt’s place for pursuing his studies. A lovely family with sisters around, he visits his parents during the holidays. Ananya’s friends were caring and lovable.
He falls in love with Anushree, but the relationship didn’t survive long. It gave him a major heart break, and there comes a twist in this story. Due to this he became pathetic, but his professor build trust on him and motivated Ananya to achieve his dream.
As a goal getter he decided to invent something new that could achieve enlightenment for oneself.
Will he achieve his goal? What did he invent? Will that be a boon or curse? Lies the suspense of the story.

About the book:

The title is apt to the story as it involves inventing a substance to achieve enlightenment. Its more about science related stuffs, and the components with their composition mentioned in the story makes it to look like a Science book.
This book contains more than spirituality. Whether it may be new concepts, thinking, arriving at conclusions all are unique in the way presented.
The in between poetry lines describing “Anushree” was admirable. Maybe the author could even write poems and publish as a separate book.
This book cannot fall under a single genre, it can be treated as a science fiction, self-help, love etc., as it explains each part with their own importance.
We can find too many characters involved and fading of them may be seen in the story. The language was kept simple, other than the technical argots used, and I felt the story was bit dragging as it was too detailed when it comes with the family and friends.
I would recommend this book to those readers who is passion about science and who would like to explore new genres.
My ratings 3.5 star for this vivid novel.

'The Perfect Drug ' by Chaitanya Saini is a perfect mixture of spirituality, enlightenment, self identifying and lots of emotions.

The story revolves around a teenager, Ananya who is so ambitious about his life, wanted to do something different from others. Since his school days he is so intelligent and he always had a special place for Physics in his heart. However he enrolled into St.Stephens in Delhi for his higher studies with Chemistry as the subject. The first part of the book shows about his ambitions, interview part, family background, some family characters and his emotions and thoughts which I feel too elaborated. From my point of view I don't think those elaborated family narration was so necessary to this story. However as the book progresses , we see how he enrolled into college, his friendship, love, and finally his journey to make a drug which helps him see the world in a different prospective. Will he succeed in making a drug that enlighten our soul..??

The book is all about the enlightenment of soul as well as improving our own self. It almost tells us about spirituality and divinity in every page. There are so many characters described and above all some parts of the book is literally elaborated too much which leads to get bored and confusion.Even I thought of skipping some pages but to be honest if you skip in between you will lose some valuable information which is so interesting. So I would recommend to keep patience while reading this book.

The author has succeeded in crafting a different plot and hats off to him for creating such an informative piece of plot.. The work of author before writing this is so evident. He might have done so many research to build up this plot. The narration lacks a bit but this book is so worth reading if you have patience and interest.

I recommend this to everyone who loves to read something different.

The author has penned down the story so well. Language is easy for anyone to understand. I like the unique plot the author has come across about spirituality and science. This book is lengthy and slow-paced. Students from a science background must read this book.

The story starts with Ananya the protagonist, who gets admission to the prestigious college St.Stephen’s. Where he met Anushree and fell in love. Everything is going great in Ananya’s life. He is so happy but suddenly Anushree left him heartbroken and Ananya's life completely changed from here. To overcome heartbreak he discovers a drug and this drug helps him to see the world in a different way which normal eyes can never see.

Book Name: The Perfect Drug
Author Name: Chaitanya Saini
Format: Kindle
No of Pages: 464
Publisher: Pakshi Publication (2018)
Blurb: The blurb portion of the book is not only highlighting the core substance of the book indeed, but the depth of the plot is quite evident from the blurb too. So, I can say that it seems to be perfect according to the story.
Cover: The front cover of the book has been designed ecstatically and it is one of the most eye catching cover I have ever laid my eyes on so far. It is not just too beautiful, but it carries the divine aroma that the gist of the book contains. It is justifying the main aura of the story, so I’d like to say that it is a much apt and appreciable work done by Rae.
Title: The title of the book is not only Unique in particular but it is quite thought provoking also. Because as we know (more or less) about the term ‘Drug’, so it is obvious that reader will be curious to know what the ‘perfect drug’ is all about and what does the book contain about this ‘perfect’ drug. As the title is intriguing enough to make the reader turn the pages of the book, hence I consider this good & appropriate.
Language & narration: Language of the book is lucid as well as consists of some authentic and potentially heavy words at places. I won’t say that it will be an easy one go ride for a non regular reader but for any avid reader, some classic words in the book are the cherry on the cake. I was satisfied because this book is ultimately worthy to my efforts & time. Uses of Hindi words are there at a place with providing the meaning in the bracket. The narrating style of the author has been maintained changes in flow with the need of the storyline accordingly, and I found this a good quality. There was a point (I won’t reveal that particular chapter) where, the grip of the story was seeming to be a little low comparing to the actual pace of the book, but the captivating and visualizing narration with dot minute details. Geared up the flow of the book once again, managed to maintain the same till the end of the book. So, overall, it was pleasurable read for me I can say (though I’d like to say that going through the ‘f’ words while reading is a bit uncomfortable for me as I am not much used to with that).
Plot: The plot of the story is the main X Factor of the book. First of all, the idea of coming up with this different kind of story line (of course it, because the whole book is based on some very potential & promising thoughts which are much more essential in every aspect of a human to reach a concluding point in life) needs huge (literally) amount of research work and guts to be specific. This plot is not any regular romantic or thriller elements to provide, but of the track components which risk the factor of reaching the mind of the reader. After completing the book, I can gladly say that the plot has been well developed and neatly crafted as per the need of the story, and it will strike the right chords of reader’s mind.
Setting: Setting of the story is in Delhi, but let see the overall places that the book has covered through the journey- Bareilly- Uttar Pradesh, Malviya Nagar, Janakpuri, Faridabad- U.P, Uganda, Brussels, Cyprus, Turkey, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kalpakkam- Chennai, Tokiyo- Fukushima, Okinawa.
Characterization: Characterization of this story is one of the top most positive points in the book. All the characters (be it the protagonist or any side character) have been portrayed with utmost clarification and justified to their respective roles till the end. Keeping aside the protagonist (Ananya), I want to mention another two most significant characters in the book and they are Anushree & Aasia aka ‘Abysmal Aunt’. Let’s get familiar with all the names of the characters mentioned in the book- Ananya, Mr. Prateek, Pallavi, Chinki, Minki, Guddu, Mr. Karthik, Rajesh, Ajay, Samay, Sanjay, Reshu, Akshay, Kanika aka ‘Kank’, Mr. Kumar, Ritika, Mr. Mishra, Miss Gauri, Pragati, Mr. Prakash, Mr. Katyal, Tannishhtha/Tanisha/Tanishka, Bharti, Anushree, Mira, Vinay, Aasia, Mr. Bhatia, Hardik, Vanya, Ayaan, Divya, Mathangi, the Monk, Akira, Shruti.
Theme: Self consciousness, Inspirational, Motivational, Friendship, Love, Inventory.
Story in a nutshell: The story revolves around the journey of Ananya, his thoughts, achievements, his way of exploring the inner self and other people around him. Ananya was a talented (extremely) boy from a middle class background. The story starts from his admission in one of the most prestigious and exceptionally good colleges in Delhi, named St. Stephens. Though he was aiming for Physics to keep his specialization but, finally, he ended up by securing a position in the college with Chemistry as his field of study. His life was there going quite smoothly comparatively others because, he was residing with his aunt (sister of his father Prateek) & his three lovely cousin sisters (Chinki, Minki, Guddu) in their family and in college, he shared the strongest bonding of genuine friendship with his two best buddies named Akshay & Kanika. Since the very beginning, Ananya started to leave his impact on others through his sincere brain as an exceptionally meritorious student. Everything was going on a right track until Anushree happened to him. Regarding the activity of his college, while attending a MUN (Model United Nations), he crossed paths with her, and soon after their close interactions, Ananya managed to mesmerize Anushree by his magical charm, care, affection, concern and his aura. Ananya, himself started to feel a strong connection towards Anushree, and he started to love her completely with all his heart.
After some initial interactions, Ananya noticed Anushree’s addiction towards Drugs- Cannabis to be specific (smoking marijuana cigarette can be taken as an example). This was the turning point that directed Ananya’s life in another way. Actually, Ananya was a student having high ambitions in his eyes, that’s why he didn’t want to limit his talent in just academic so called ‘rat race’ after college; he wanted to leave a mark that can make his identity different from others and help him to explore a different side of life. But that was not as easy as it seems.
After observing the nature of the Cannabis and while being curious, after researching a lot about the kinds of Drugs and their effects, syndromes and all in details, while studying one of his books (The Psychedelic Chemistry), his horizons of thoughts explored new doors for him and he, after lots of counter thoughts and after effect dilemmas in mind, decided to invent something that was unheard completely to the world; he decided to prepare a perfect psychedelic drug that can be considered as devising a drug for medication. He wanted to invent such a drug (Transcendental serum- Or TPD [THC Psilocybin DMT]) that can prevent this tendency or can say to invoke godliness in the inner self or human embodiment of the cosmic mind, to reach the divine point of ultimate self consciousness which was impossible for any human being to even think about. His intention was to realize the existence of God not only in him, but to see the godliness in others quite literally. He wanted to synthesize a weapon by utilizing the knowledge he had, to the best of his ability, hopefully to liberate the world while offering today’s addiction-ridden youth a prospect to transcend via a drug which was entheogenic to the core. He was fueled with the fire to create a drug that would awake the divine within, while enabling the person to witness godliness in others as well.
But is this possible? When destiny choose to come in between Ananya & Anushree, and make their ways part from each other, will it be possible for Ananya to control the damage, to heal his heart by the wounds, to gather the scattered pieces of his heart and back in the main goal of his life? Will it possible for Ananya to invent any such ‘perfect drug’? Will Ananya be able to create the history by rejuvenating the equations and the law of nature? What can be happen if the ‘perfect drug’ can be invented and consumed? What is awaiting the life of Ananya? What was the reason behind Anushree’s leaving Ananya? To know all your answers and to know what the perfect drug is all about, just pick this book up and let yourself emerge in the consciousness expanding journey.

My Verdict: Author Chaitanya Saini has perfectly penned down the divine aura of this beautiful book. First of all, kudos to him from this innovative plot and developing it so well, and second thing is, to give the proper end and perfect shape to the story. Drug addiction and its effect in today’s youth generations and even in children’s at some places have gone to such an extent that it turns out to be not just fatal but capable of destroying many innocent lives before they get even aware of it. So, to prevent this, expanding self consciousness is the only way, to connect with the godliness within. Author has thoroughly described the kinds of drugs (marijuana, wee, narcotic, heroin- Cannabis, LSD) and their source, classification and effects, hallucinogen and how to make the same converting into a different way. I would like to mention some noticeable factors in the book like- the MUN affairs, the discussions and debate, the touching poems with deep meaning, conversation between Anushree & Ananya about religion, God & connectivity, atheist, the difference of Kismet & Karma, the reservation system, Karma connection to caste division, the ups and downs while preparing in the process of making the ‘perfect drug’, human consciousness, the 7 Chakras and their details functions and source, effect of Maya, the Koran related conversation with Aunt, the stages of the invention, and the conversation with the Monk- these are the things that are evidently significant in the story and neatly described too. The different emotional phases of the characters, Ananya’s love, friendship, Anushree’s inner fight, her connection with Ananya, the strong friendship of the trio, the sacrifice, the different stages of struggles and ultimately the character of Divya- these are the things that touched my heart and left a lasting impression in my mind. The parental love, the emotions, and the affection- all of these were present in the story. I liked reading the book and would love to go through the future works of the author.
Recommendation: I would like to recommend this in depth book containing the journey of self consciousness to every avid reader out there and to everyone looking towards a different aspect of life to follow. This book is a sure shot for them & I don’t think that this book will disappoint them in any way. It is a time worthy read indeed. Thank you.
Rating (Overall): 5/5 Stars.

I am not at all a fan of self help books because for me they are boring and instead of helping, they sometimes depresses the reader. But there are some books with a complete unusual plot and has a very out of the box thought process behind the story. "The Perfect Drug" is one such book.

Book has a protagonist, Ananya who was a very bright and a meritorious student. He got admitted in the prestigious St. Stephen's College, New Delhi. Just like any other child he was working hard to get good grades and to see a smile on his parents face. Later, he fell for a girl and the girl reciprocated the mutual feelings. But some unfortunate events forced Ananya to contemplate about his existence and his value to the world. In the search of the meaning of his life he discovered the book called "Psychedelic Chemistry" and later he started making a drug which may help him in his path of enlightenment. He named it as "The Perfect Drug". This divine potion changed his perspective towards the happenings around him. His eyes can see what other pairs of eyes can't. His emotions juggle between elation at one moment and vulnerability at other. What was that divine potion? What all things happened during his path of enlightenment? What are the circumstances which forces him to discover the drug?

This is definitely not a usual self help book. The plot line is extremely interesting. Author is for sure a very knowledgeable person. As being a science student myself I know many things from the book and this makes it more interesting for me to read it. The most amazing thing about the book is the word play. I extremely love the writing style of the author. It is hilarious, informative, sarcastic, emotional, awesome all the same time. This is definitely a treat for the readers who crave for amazing writing style. And he can also write wonderful poetry as well.

The narration is very crisp and very gripping. It will make you flip the pages till the end. The plot is inspiring in a very unusual way. It teaches many things with the reference of many casual things. But at times plot gets a bit monotonous but later maintains its pace and become much more divine than expected. Some scenes ends very abruptly which is the minute flaw of the book.

Characters were developed very beautifully. Kanika and Akshay were at their best being friends with Ananya. His 3 cousin sisters were shown very innocent and loveable. Neither did I really liked the character of Ananya nor hated it.

On the whole, this book is a must read because it is a divine read with the beautiful writing style, crisp narration, intriguing content and unique plot line.

I am bit skeptical about reading self help genre books but the author convinced me that it is more than a self help book and everything is explained through the story of Ananya.

The book follows the journey of Ananya, an ambitious guy who wanted to pursue Physics but was admitted into St. Stephen College with Chemistry as his subject. Ananya being a bright child was always intrigued by small things in life, specifically which were related to science. He always wanted to do something big. He had a supportive family who always encouraged him to do his best. Even during his college days, he would be immersed in his studies , balancing both his social as well as his student life.

But the entry of Anushree , the love of his life, changed the entire situation. He was so deep in love with her that he would spend almost all of his time with her. He was hell sure of her being his soulmate. But destiny had other plans for him. Anushree left him heartbroken. He was depressed and was ignoring his studies but his lab professor had full faith on his capabilities and motivated him to pursue his dreams.

Ananya then thought of inventing a drug which could be used to enlighten one's soul and see and observe their chakras. Would he be successful in inventing the drug? Will he be able to get over Anushree

The starting of the book is very simple with the author describing Ananya's interview. But as the story progresses, the language becomes a bit hard to understand because of the technical jargon used by the author. The author has described Ananya's family scenes way too much which I found quite dragging and unnecessary. The book was slow paced and dragged which made me lose my interest.

I liked how the author had done proper research on topics which helped me gain knowledge. Overall It was an average read. The plot was unique but failed to impress me.

Recommended to all those readers who wish to read something different!

Human beings are naive and gullible. They easily fall into traps of desires. They quickly give up on their own rules. They are prone to become distracted and fall in the abyss of doom. It is this human tendency which the author attempts to discuss here with the aid of his The Perfect Drug. Delving into the chemistry between emotions and consciousness and the realm of psychedelics, the book goes on to elaborate on how we generally lose our way in the clamor spread around us.

Ananya is the protagonist of this book. A bright student, an obedient son, and a loving brother – Ananya dons various hats with dedication and love. When he steps in St. Stephens College, he never would have imagined his life to undergo massive change. He fell in love with a girl named Anushree who leaves him one day, out of the blues. His utter sadness drives him crazy and the sheer serendipity by which he discovered the book on psychedelics changed the course of his life. He found a purpose behind his living. And that brought forth the transformation in him which culminated into befuddling discoveries. He went on to create a potion which could help us in identification and understanding of our charas and also see through the aura of others. He worked towards expounding the air of rationale building up around us and through his own weakness, tells how we could overcome our inner demons.

Ananya’s character is an ideal one to unveil the human truths. He is diligent and a man of virtues. He believes in spreading love he contains within. THrough his own experiments, he achieves his reason. He realizes the meaning behind him. He also personifies how power can corrupt someone’s conscience. He breaks off his own shell of cheap thrills and directs himself toward the route of righteousness. He symbolizes the eccentricities and flaws in a human character. In him, you can see you. That’s how this story became relatable.

The book is one of a kind in its approach. It is fresh and brings a new perspective to its readers. It is a self-help book which is free of monotonous preaching and monologue but through the right picture, it connects you to it. It bridges the gap between its readers and its purpose. Full of chemical reactions and related scientific concepts, the book will definitely indulge a person interested in science. Also, the vivid description coupled with excellent language has made this book amazing. The narrative is smooth and free-flowing. However, it appeared stretched and dragged at some points to me. The excessive minute detailing might break that connection you develop gradually with the book. A more crisp plotline would have made the book even better. Additionally, a lot of science involved with Ananya’s life may not appeal to every set of readers. Also, the book is pretty thick and I literally struggled my way out of certain instances which were way too elaborate in their description.

The cover and the title rightly goes in sync with the content of the book. It is this perfect drug that uplifts Ananya, that gives him the light, and that teaches him that one must keep his rationale to one’s disposal. Brace yourself to indulge in the perfect drug but never forget your own reason. And yes before you pick up this book for your spiritual journey, make sure you have enough time to devote it!

The title can seem misleading until you read the story and get to know just what the "Perfect Drug" is.

I'll get straight into what I think of this book as a whole; insightful. The core element of this book, even though, is spirituality and enlightenment, It has different sub elements which makes the book stand out from others.

Our main protagonist, Ananya, a small town boy with high aspirations and enough intellect and determination to fulfill them, manages to get admission in the chemistry department of St. Stephen College in Delhi. He couldn't have hoped for anything better but life seems to be more generous with him as he soon finds a girl he falls in love with.

With a supporting family, a prestigious academic career, caring friends and a loving girlfriend, it seems like nothing could go wrong for him, except it does. Ananya soon finds out that his girlfriend is struggling with drug abuse and he tries everything in his power to help her come back to sobriety but all his attempts seems to go in vain as the love of his life falls more and more into the abyss.

He decides to take matters into his own hands and creates a drug which he calls "The perfect drug" that he claims would lead a person on a spiritual journey that will end in enlightenment of the mind & soul.

If his drug works or not and if it does, what consequences it has on those around him? I'll suggest you read and find out on your own.

Even though I appreciate that topic of drug addiction was brushed on in this book, I felt that the author failed in shedding more light on just how terrible the consequences can be. Don't get me wrong, I liked the concept but I couldn't help but feel that it was merely used as a plot device, something to set the story on track and not a real problem.

It was a motivation for the protagonist to do good but other than that, it really didn't seem to have as much impact as it could've had. Even in the end, the last chapter covered more of the emotional aspect rather than the psychological and mental affect of the aftermath of drug addiction.

The way it's handled isn't bad, it just could've been better.

The story drags on for too long with descriptions about the components of drugs which I couldn't have bothered to read even though I am a science student. I'd have liked it if that kind of attention was given to develop the secondary character.

The narrative is fine and the writing is easy to get into but the lack of dialogues made me loose connection with Ananya and his world.

Nonetheless it's an important topic and a refreshing concept which I'd definitely recommend people to check out.

❤The Perfect Drug By Chaitanya Saini❤
Genre: Spiritual, scientific
Publisher: Pakshi Publisher .
Plot: Here comes the story of Ananya, Ananya synthesizes such a divine drink with immense difficulty, and tends it with great care—but the attainment of power often brings its abuse. It an attempt to beat the demon outside, he mutes all the voices contrary to his ambition including his much-revered intuition. He fails miserably but his torture endures. Does his indulgence keep Ananya entangled in the web of illusion? Is the answer he has to discover for himself.
.
My Opinion: I picked this book considering just a mere spiritual book but it was much more than that. After being frustrated & feeling trapped in life the main protagonist Ananya is trying to cope up with his life & to do so he has found a new drug for himself. Well, this is not any harmful drug but a drug of spirituality. The book is an amalgamation of many, many things because it doesn't focuses on single thing. It has alot of characters, lots of concepts & is a blend of many genre together. Initially, as a science student, I don't like chemistry much but yes the chemistry used & mentioned in the is what I really loved & enjoyed. The best thing about the book is- it's something different & very unique to read. Many plots made it a beautiful read altogether. The cover is beautiful & the title is very appropriate.
.
Pros: There are many contrasting characters & things which made it an interesting read. Plot was definitely good. Loved the way the author mentioned characters & things. The events were placed chronological order due to which there was no much confusion. I do recommend it to my fellow reader but if you are a curious person then feel free to pick it. It took me 4 days to complete it because it's a lengthy book.
Cons: The book has alot of unnecessary events which made it more elaborative. Yes, the book is worth reading though. The has easy language but it's really complex to gulp. Some people may not understand the complex scientific part.

The book started with Ananya's interview for getting admission in St. Stephen's college.

The story revolves around Ananya.

His journey begins when he gets admission in St. Stephen's college of Delhi.

Although he applied for physics but ended up with chemistry.

His college life and his friends who are always ready to help him are described so well in the book.

All the poems adds something more to the book.

Ananya is ambitious and he always wanted to do something which was different, which no one had ever thought of doing.

His love for his sisters was portrayed so well. I really liked Guddu's character. She's very cute.

Akshay and Kanika, his best buddies, always helped him in every way possible.

The heartbreak was described so well that it brought tears in my eyes.

The plot is very well developed.

Concept was very new. And the characterization is also well described
Readers can instantly connect with the character.

Ananya wanted to achieve great heights and after sufferering from a heartbreak he decided to do something unique.
He didn't want to live the monotonous and nomadic life.

After a lot of research, he decided to prepare a drug that can help people attain godliness in inner self.
I would recommend this book to everyone who loves science fiction.
The cover is attractive. Story is slow paced. And all the technical words used in the story were beyond my grasp.

My overall experience with this book was good. I enjoyed reading it. It was a new concept and I appreciate the author for his efforts.

"We aren't human beings on a spiritual journey, but rather spiritual beings on a human journey"

This story revolves around a chemistry scholar Ananya, who got an admission in renowned college, St. Stephen's, Delhi, where he made two best companions, Akshay and Kanika and lives in Delhi with his paternal aunt.

Ananya was more inclined towards organic chemistry but his interest developed more in it after he had a major heartbreak with his lady love Anushree, who just suddenly disappeared one day. She had this drug addiction so that to forget about her life and sorrows happening with her. Ananya was mesmerized by her alot but when she left for Turkey without giving Ananya a hint, Ananya was really pissed after that.

He started taking more interest in chemistry labs and came across 'Psychedelic chemistry' book in the library and wanted to prepare a drug which enhances the consciousness and cosmic mind based on the color psychology. He became successful in preparing it but still was unhappy with his life.

This book is really lengthy and being a science student I couldn't understand many terms, I doubt for the non-science students. Lack of dialogues made the book boring and lot of exaggeration in the starting and unnecessary short sentences made it a very slow read for me.

Language is little complex as author has used a rich vocabulary which can be difficult for many readers. Over-all a good read, a whole new idea of cosmic mind and color psychology but length of the book can be cut short. I liked the quotes in this book.

My Review : The Perfect Drug by Chaitanya Saini revolves around our protagonist Ananya and his path to self-discovery. It is packed and interweaved with themes of spirituality, philosophy and a bit of sci-fi.

The character emerged as strong and determined. The author has tried to put all his focus on the protagonist starting from the opening of the book, showing us all shades of his life, even his family, his journey as he starts as a college student in St. Stephens from where he embarks upon his journey.

I really liked how the author, introduced new characters by giving us an insight of their lives and it was impressive to see how every character played their own positive roles in developing the character of Ananya as a whole.

The author has in depth knowledge about the various spheres he talks about in his book and it was really interesting to know about a new thing with every page I turned.

The integration of various themes as I already mentioned, was very neatly done and didn't overpower the main theme of the book i.e self discovery of our protagonist.

However, one thing that kind of bothered me was that it is a rather lengthy novel. The various scenes of his Aunt's family at times felt unnecessary and could have been skipped.

But all in all, kudos to the author for writing something that is not mainstream and writing it so beautifully.

The story opens with the protagonist Ananya, an ardent student seeking admissions in one of the prestigious colleges in India- St Stephen's. He slowly becomes accustomed to his college life with his varied share of interests and thus gets acquainted to Anushree. She slowly becomes the girl of his dreams, but then Ananya comes to know that she is addicted to drugs. This sudden juncture embeds in him a desire to curate a drug manifesting it with spiritual elements.
Will Ananya successfully create the drug? Is this the invention he is waiting his whole life for? Can the ultimate goal of enlightenment be achieved?

This story by Saini is a unique concept of intermixing spirituality with the simple life of Ananya. The language is lucid. But sometimes the descriptions are too vivid creating a lack of interest to follow. If the length would have been cut short, the story would have gained pace since the start. The friendships in the story were some parts which I liked the most. Overall, this can be your read if you want an element of divinity in a storytelling plot.

"The Perfect Drug" by Chaitanya Saini is a story of an ambitious boy who gets enrolled in an auspicious St. Stephen's College of Delhi. Later, he fell in love with a girl in the same city and gets heartbroken.
He then formulates a drug "The Perfect Drug" that holds the capabilities to enhance his mental abilities and helps him see and fathom out the world with different prospective.

Narration and Characterisation- Narration is lucid yet rich. I adore the author's selection of words. His research in chemistry and other fields for building up the plot is seen in the whole book.
Characterisation made the book bit complicated. There were many characters that has confused me at some points; but overall its intriguing.

Also, it's a long and a slow read, you'll have to grasp each page with immense patience. It took me almost 2 weeks to complete the book but it was worth it.

The Perfect Drug by Chaitanya Saini is a story that is a blend of Science, Self-Help and Spirituality with a tinge of Romance. I picked up the book after reading the intriguing blurb. It's a well researched unusual plot , with descriptive narration crisp language that is rich in vocabulary .

The author has tried to cover various themes of which the spirituality part is something I enjoyed as it speaks a lot of facts on divinity. Family values have been highlighted throwing light on importance of relationships. The detailing on the process of drug invention is good. The inclusion of poetry in between is interesting.

What didn't go well?
The book is lengthy and I feel the author could have shortened it. Also the ending was abrupt. Apart from this I feel people with science background will enjoy reading it as lots of scientific terms have been used.

My Verdict
Overall a plot that has been planned and presented in a engaging way.

The perfect drug by Chaitanya Saini is a different kind of novel. I've never read something like that before so I am not able to judge it properly. I like it and not like it at the same time.

The main character is Ananya. He has two friends, a big family, girlfriend and so there are lots of characters in the book. After being heartbroken he started a research to produce a different kind of drug and he named it The perfect drug. It enhances mental abilities of the human being and induces some kind of spiritual energy. He gains success with the help of his formula but still, he was not totally happy with his life. The novel is very long and there is much to read in it. There is a lack of dialogues in the book which made it less interesting. The long explanation of chemistry formulas and reactions made it really boring for me. I being a science student got bored and didn't understand most of the things, I doubt that any non - science student will understand them. That part was really boring and I skipped those parts.

The language in the book is difficult as the author has used rich vocabulary. I'll give this book 2.5 stars out of 5. The title was appropriate for the book as the story revolves around that perfect drug and what it does.

Firstly, the reason why I wanted to read this book was it being based on Chemistry, which is my subject of study, and its inculcation in spirituality. I liked the idea behind this book which was something unique and fresh. The author seemed to be very knowledgeable in the aspects of science and spirituality addressed in the book.

However, I found it hard to relate to the story. For me, it felt unnecessarily detailed and long and there were a lot of parts that could have been shortened or omitted. A compact story would have been more impactful. The pacing at the start was very slow which somehow picked up speed in the latter half of the book. As for the language and central theme of the book, it’s not very simple, so it may seem difficult to follow for some readers.

As for the characters, I am not very fond of Ananya’s character. He came out as a sexist, perverted, and self-absorbed person to me. Even though sometimes he displayed thoughtfulness, most of the time his character irked me. However, I liked the character of his friends. There were other characters as well and I think the author has done a good job in weaving them throughout the story.

Overall, this was a one-time read for me.

The Perfect Drug is about an obedient and science enthusiast boy, Ananya, who gets into St. Stephen’s, Delhi. The first few chapters, I loved how the author’s words created a vivid imagine of Delhi for the readers. But then he falls in love, and the girl suddenly leaves, which pushes him into the edge of insanity. And hence starts the concoctions to create a perfect drug that can enhance the mental abilities.

This is an unusual story with a complicated plot and equally complicated characters. As for starters, I did not like the main protagonist, Ananya. He just seemed really under developed and egoistic too. Somehow, I could not connect with him or his thoughts, and his character ultimately felt very bland. I, however, did love the poetry he wrote for his lover. They were really heartfelt and beautiful.

And at a point, the story got really boring for me. It got extremely monotonous with continuous paragraphs of nothing really. It dragged a lot at parts, I believe. There were too many paragraphs of information dumping. I was very disappointed with how the story went ahead, without any significant importance given on the creation of the drug.

I don’t know, maybe I couldn’t really understand the actual moral of this book or maybe I didn’t read between the lines enough, but this book did not work for me. The long monotonous paragraphs bored me, sometimes confused me too, and I craved for some action. I’m not saying it’s a bad book. The writing has immense potential and I did enjoy the first few parts of the book. It looked promising but something did not work for me.

PLOT: Life is not always as we want it to be. Ananya, the male lead decides to synthesise a drug that would enhance cognitive and spiritual abilities of a human mind- and ultimately help his girlfriend who got tipped off her way. Would he be able to make that drug? Will he be successful?

REVIEW: ● Firstly, Kudos to the author for coming up with such a unique and out of the box plot. Spirituality and science is a unique blend which makes the readers try it out. However, I felt that the book is a promise unfulfilled. The plot is indeed very strong but, the writing style and narrative couldn't really justify the uniqueness.
● The major drawback was the never-ending chemical formulas. I love chemistry but, I read to get away from the complications of my life, not to read more of them. It's great that the author has researched so amazingly but, the research could have been included in a more subtle way. Plus, the length of the book really doesn't help. There are many parts where important details get missed which ultimately confuses the readers.

Overall, I would say that the perfect drug had an amazing plot potential but, it somehow didn't rise into its ZPD (zone of potential development).

So the perfect drug is basically a story of ananya who wants to make a divine drug. I honestly had to force myself to read it sometimes because it's so lengthy and some parts are even not necessary I also didn't like those parts of chemistry and stuff because I found them boring. I liked some of the quotes of this book and also it's well researched I mean while reading it u can see the effort of the author that he wanted to make this book unique and he has been successful in it to some extent. There are lots of characters in this book but still every character was different . Also there was a lot of spiritual talk in this book so if thats what gets u excited then u should definitely try it. I don't know if I like it or not because it's not my favorite genre so I wanted to give it a 2.5 but then this book is quite well written with lots of hard work so u should try it if u r into this genre. Also the extreme objectification of women in it is ridiculous .

THE TITLE-

The word ‘Drug’ describes the reality of the plot. It has always been said that to use them with care, and use them with respect as to the transformations they can achieve, and you have an extraordinary research tool. Go banging about with a psychedelic drug for a Saturday night turn-on, and you can get into a really bad place, psychologically. Know what you're using, decide just why you're using it, and you can have a rich experience. They're not addictive, and they're certainly not escapist, either, but they're exceptionally valuable tools for understanding the human mind, and how it works. The ‘Drug’ also creates an atmosphere of reality amalgamated with life.
To describe it, the author has added the adjective ‘Perfect’ before it to make more realistic. For everything in this journey of life we are on, there is a right wing and a left wing: for the wing of love there is anger; for the wing of destiny there is fear; for the wing of pain there is healing; for the wing of hurt there is forgiveness; for the wing of pride there is humility; for the wing of giving there is taking; for the wing of tears there is joy; for the wing of rejection there is acceptance; for the wing of judgment there is grace; for the wing of honour there is shame; for the wing of letting go there is the wing of keeping. We can only fly with two wings and two wings can only stay in the air if there is a balance. Two beautiful wings is perfection. There is a generation of people who idealize perfection as the existence of only one of these wings every time. But I see that a bird with one wing is imperfect. An angel with one wing is imperfect. A butterfly with one wing is dead. So this generation of people strive to always cut off the other wing in the hopes of embodying their ideal of perfection, and in doing so, have created a crippled race.
I felt this to be a perfect title for the plot.

REVIEW OF THE BOOK-

The story reveals a vivid description of Divine Reality. If you want to access your power as a divine human being, you must search for the small inside of the big and for the big inside of the small. When you look up into the expanse of sky overhead, look for the stars, the planets, the birds that fly. Small things for the eye to spot. And when you look down into the face of a street side flower, look for joy, happiness, comfort, stillness, and a silent song. When you have mastered finding the small in the big and the big in the small, you will have mastered your own divinity. Once the lotus of your inner divinity gets full-blown and you reach the mental state where all the religious giants of human history experienced the all-encompassing sense of godliness, the exuberance of the human mind turns infinite. Awakening into that state makes all the perceptual limitations of the mind disappear, just like a bucket of muddy water turns crystal-clear once poured into the ocean.
The author describes the journey of life keeping the spirituality and reality at the background. Life has a tendency to provide a person with what they need in order to grow. Our beliefs, what we value in life, provide the roadmap for the type of life that we experience. A period of personal unhappiness reveals that our values are misplaced and we are on the wrong path. Unless a person changes their values and ideas, they will continue to experience discontentment. The author draws the readers’ attention to the word consciousness as he tries to elaborate the fact that not accomplishing your Life Plan is a tragic act of free will. It is akin to charting an elaborate vacation itinerary before arriving at your holiday destination, with all kinds of plans for outdoor adventures and intentions to go sightseeing and shopping, but then ending up spending the whole trip in your hotel room ordering from room service and watching television. In a similar fashion the unconscious soul spends a lifetime in the semi-conscious state of Divine Disconnection and then returns home mostly ‘empty-handed’.
I really loved the plot since it tries to bring out the fact that despite the fact that, the idea of religion has been filled by the human society with all sorts of garbage, and thus been made complicated beyond common human comprehension, in reality, there is nothing simpler than the idea of religion. It is this simple. The religion of a computer is to compute - the religion of a scorpion is to sting in the face of danger - the religion of a human is to help other humans. Scriptures are neither the origin nor the measure of religion. The origin and measure of religion are the human heart.

RATINGS-

Overall I would like to rate the book 42 on a scale of 50.
4 stars out of 5
1. Originality of the plot and sub plots- 8/10
2. Net emotions in the story- 8/10
3. Usage of words and phrases-8/10
4. The title, cover and the illustration-9/10
5. The net impact on the readers- 9/10
