Laylah loves reading, but she particularly loves a good romance with some seriously alpha men. Protective, possessive men with large hearts. Writing has become her passion and she hopes her readers enjoy her stories as much as she does writing them.
I wasn’t sure about this one when I started it, but I quickly became invested in Kinley! Sloan had a lot of growing to do, and he did get there, but it took him a lot of the book. James was interesting from the start. The history and baggage each of these characters bring could have been overwhelming, but they worked through it and fit together, without having to compromise on who they were <3
Take one sassy, slightly bratty submissive and two estranged best friends who happen to be Doms and you've got the makings what could be a great relationship. Sloan and James, closer than brothers, at one time shared a woman and a life. Things went very wrong when their woman died in an accident and Sloan blamed James for years. Kinley and Sloan have a D/s relationship but he seems unwilling to take it any farther. Kinley takes a second job in order to pay off debts she has been saddled with by an ex-boyfriend. The job is at James' business. He is drawn to this straight talking woman not knowing that she and Sloan are together. Because of Kinley, the two men finally talk and some uncomfortable truths are revealed. Add to that, the two guys unite to keep Kinley safe from what appears to be a stalker. Sloan and Kinley decide they want a relationship with James because they both live and need him. Now all they have to do is convince him.
Sloan, Kinley and James After her ex cheated on her and left her drowning in debt from credit cards he secretly opened in her name, Kinley is struggling to make ends meet. She’s in a growing relationship with Sloan but feels guilty for keeping her financial troubles a secret. As her Dom, she knows he would want to know—he should know—but fear holds her back. Sloan, on the other hand, is holding back in his own way. He cares deeply for Kinley but hesitates to fully open his heart. Years ago, he once shared a woman with his best friend, James, but that relationship ended in heartbreak and shattered their friendship. Sloan isn’t sure he can go down that road again. Then James unexpectedly returns—not to Sloan, but to Kinley. Unaware of her connection to Sloan, James takes an interest in her, setting off a complicated web of emotions and old wounds. This story explores love, trust, and second chances in a unique and emotional way. Watching these three navigate their pasts while building something new together made for an engaging and compelling read.
No plot spoilers No potential triggers There are the usual grammatical and editorial errors associated with the authors books, missing words etc and poor editing. However, the characterisation is good with individual personalities that do allow the reader to form a connection. The plotline is thin but emotional in places and more than enough to draw you in and keep you turning the pages. The ending is totally weird though, the book ends and goes on to a preview of Saxons story and then slips back to the epilogue, which again ends abruptly. Jarring editing. I usually award four stars because Kindle won't provide a 3.5 and the reason for that is the poor editing. There are some sex scenes of a light BDSM nature and there is some swearing. If you are a fan of the genre you would probably enjoy the series.
Not my favorite book by this author. It felt...undeveloped. all the right ideas were there, but the execution felt a bit shallow, like the story was forced. All in all, not bad, but not one I will feel the need to read again. There are a ton of missed opportunities for plot elements to help flesh out the characters, and it is a shame they were passed up. Sex scenes were very long, almost too much, but plot points were brief
Sloan and Kinley have a relationship that sort of falls to the wayside because she wasn’t honest with him, but he’s hiding something too – when she goes to work for James things take on an even tougher outlook, but what happens when Sloan and James finally see each other for the first time since what happen to Sara … will Kinley be able to bring the two of them together and will the three of them be able to have a lasting relationship that is built on love and not lust.
I actually really enjoyed this read, I had no real expectations, so it easily surpassed them. This is my first read by this author, I enjoyed the three characters, Sloan, James and Kinley. I liked the growing relationship between them all, there was plenty of chemistry flying between them. I found the relationship between Sloan and James to be particularly lovely, so much love between these two best friends, even after all they'd been through. I look forward to reading more by this author.
I absolutely adored this series..... I would like to read rectify and some of the others in the Haven book(s) as soon as they are available. I thought I bought rectify, but it never appeared in my library once the it said that I purchased it. Please email me what to do at hollicadwelldunn75@aol.com. thanks and keep up with your writing style you are extremely talented.
Wow, this story blew me away. I loved how all the twists worked together and everyone got their happy ending. Sloan and James were such opposites, yet very alike too. And Kinley was so strong and brave. The ending was such a surprise, that I never saw coming. Don’t miss this great addition to the series.
**3.5 stars Take two men who used to be best friends, tie them together with one slightly bratty sub and find out just what it means to have back-up when a mysterious danger appears. this story is a little more unfocussed - could have used more depth to flesh out the feelings and emotions as well as the actions.
I fell for this story with the characters and the way Laylah’s wrote them. Wow. The way that James and Kinley met and the start of them was strong, I longed for that as I read it. Then the way that the three of them were brought together was nice to see their reactions. A++
Kinley is a sassy independent sub who is falling for her current Dom, Sloan. He’s a big teddy bear with a strong need to be in charge. These two have such a hot steady flame between, it’s surprising when another Dom comes into the picture. James and Sloan have a rocky history but only Kinley can bring them all together. So good!!
I loved the characters in this book. It was very realistic how the characters grew as their relationship improved. Hot, fun sex scenes left me wanting more! Quick and dirty Herero romance.
Melting with happiness having read this. Sexy, saucy, runs through all the emotions. Complete contentment is this book. Just the right amount of mystery, tension, steam, laughter
Great read, I like the fact that the three of them were able to work their shit out and continue to work it out. I thought that the last scene was very steamy, the three of the had chemistry, and it showed well. Thanks for that Laylah.
I love all of Ms. Roberts' books and Kinley, James, and Sloan's story is no exception. She writes the most entertaining books and I look forward to each one. If you haven't read any what are you waiting for?
This is such a hot, dirty, sexy and quirky mmf D/s/D love story, about thinking outside the box, embracing one self, forgive and understand the past and take a leap of faith into the future.
Very enjoyable and sexy romp of a book. Wished the guys had sorted themselves out sooner but they get there in the end. Quite a soft bdsm read but enjoyable nevertheless.
She's unsecured about her looks and her first Dom reacts to a situation which just seems to add on to that insecurity. He's dealing with his own trust issues. Meanwhile she meets the second Dom and when they all come together it is exquisite.
