Sera is part of a dangerous family. Her dad wants to keep her safe and under control. Being part of the King family means Sera life isn’t her own. She’s rich but has no choices. Even her clothes are chosen for her.
Her fathers business is corrupt and a group of rebels are on a mission. Sera is a smart and trained lady but her eyes are covered. Unveiling the truth could set her free. Firebird is a sexy short romance. The rebel leader could be the one to set her free. 4 stars out of 5.

Wow what a story. Firstly the cover and then the blurb. Both had me eager to read the story. Once I started I couldn’t stop. Like literally I was consumed by it.
Seraphina (Sera) is an amazingly strong feisty main character. She has been protected and hidden from everyone by her family. Now when her fathers in trouble he allows her more freedom to find out who is out to get him. He gets more than he bargains for when Sera meets up with the mysterious man, Flynn.
This is a great read. I felt as if the last part was rushed but maybe I was reading it quicker or I just didn’t want it to end. I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye out for future stories from this author.

First of all this book was amazing! I loved every minute of it and never wanted to put it down. Seraphina is feisty! She is probably one of my all-time favorite characters, and I love her strong will. To go from being hidden and protected to having to rescue her father from the trouble he's in shows her amazing courage.
Then there's Flynn. Oh, Flynn! I love Flynn. He's the best hero for any heroine.

Gripping, suspenseful and brilliantly written
WOW! WOW!! WOW!!! From the moment I started reading this book, Alice La Roux had me totally engrossed. Her flawless and descriptive writing made it very hard to put down. All of her characters were well developed - making it very easy to wither love or hate them. This really was a story of good vs evil.
Seraphina King, what an amazing woman. Strong, stubborn, with a streak of independence to rival her father's protective nature, she has been hidden from society by her father, but she has decided that she's had enough. Her father's name and business is under threat from a vigilante group known as Firebird, and she is determined to get to the bottom of this group and make things right again for her father. What she didn't expect was to meet Flynn Nightingale, a man who would forever change her life. I couldn't help but fall for Flynn, he was every woman's dream.
This is a "sitting on the edge of your seat story". With numerous twists throughout, Ms La Roux definitely had my attention. Looking forward to reading more of her work.
Absolutely a highly recommended read.

Took me a few chapters to get into this book but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down. It’s packed full of drama and at the centre of the drama is the King Family who hold a massive secret one that if it gets out is destined to ruin quite a few people. I loved Sera and Flynn and their whole story and Sear has proven that she is not just a pretty face and is sassy and can hold her own. With good storylines and good characters Firebird is a cracking read which will keep you gripped till the very end.

This book had a brilliant story and had just the right amount of family drama / suspense.
Sera is the the protected daughter, locked away, until needed by the family, but they don’t want her to know what they are up to.

Can’t wait to read other works from this author. Great story that kept you on the edge of your seat. Loved Sera, nice to see a mix of badass and vulnerability in a female lead. Def add this to your TBR pile and get on it ASAP. You won’t be disappointed.

Firebird is perfection! From the moment the story started to the very end. It’s a definite page turner!
I loved how this started out as a mystery in some sort & turned into a Romance.
Seraphina is a strong heroine who is looking for independence instead of being locked up like her father wants. She is willing to do whatever it takes to find out whose stealing from her fathers business.
The one person she never saw coming was Flynn. They both have this undeniable attraction toward each other that can either make or break them.
Flynn was the perfect book boyfriend, so alpha male and sweet. The perfect person for Seraphina King!
A must read because obviously you need to meet Flynn Nightingale!

Sera has been sheltered from anything and everything; she was also given everything but not her freedom. Everyone was jealous of her even her bother's hated her because she was privileged. Sera didn't want the title and money, she just wanted to be independent and free.
Flynn, the handsome thief, is involved with the group called the firebird which steals from her father's company. Sera can't seem to stop thinking about him and she is also not sure if she truts her bothers and her father. Does Flynn have some feelings towards her too?
This is a great book and I enjoyed all the twists within this book. I enjoy Alice's books.

If you are looking for a story to have you sitting on the edge of your seat, then you need look no further but this was nothing short of captivating.
From the very beginning it was clear that the author was going to leave no stone unturned in her pursuit of excellence and believe me this is most definitely excellent! It took a little while for me to find my stride, to fall in with the follow of the narrative and the pace that the characters brought to the page but once I was up to speed the only difficulty I had was finding a time where I could put it down, the story was so fluid that just picking up on when might be an opportune time to take a breather was far from easy.
Packed with drama the King family will own your soul by the time you are half way through, Seraphina was fabulous, I liked that she was not just strong but was as fiercely protective of those she cared about as her father was of her. He had spent years sequestering her away from the world in his attempt to protect her, only for her to ultimately take her own future into her own hands and overrule him. She is a proud woman with and inner strength that was her driving force, she loved her father without question, so when she uncovers the truth, that everything that her father holds dear is under attack by the group known as Firebird, she is willing to stop at nothing to uncover why and to make it right…the question was…could she?
Well, I would say she was capable of anything she set her mind too but things don’t always take the simplest of routes and with Seraphina, her path wasn’t just littered with pitfalls and danger, nope it also presented her with the biggest hurdle of all…Flynn Nightingale.
Flynn was everything that Seraphina doesn’t know how to deal with, they have the capacity to either make or break each other, the question was which would it be?
I loved that Flynn was honourable, he was determined to do the right thing but it seemed every way he turned there were walls in place to stop him from achieving his goals’. I mean he just wanted to save his city!
Between the two of them they had battles that could have quite easily have seen them on opposing sides but as much as Flynn was a sweet guy, that didn’t mean he was ready to be a push over and Seraphina wasn’t ready to back down either, so they had to find a happy medium that would give them both what they needed to protect themselves, and everything they both held dear.
A fabulous story that will have you rooting for the good guys from the side-lines, with some superb characterisation and principle characters that were easy to love, this was a story that didn’t juts show the good and the bad, nope it dissected it all and gave you the opportunity to watch as the author and characters pieced it all back together…and with an ending that was beautifully appropriate.
I could go on but I think you have probably had enough by now, this is worth many more than 5 stars, it was awesome.

This story had a bit of everything I look for in a book: a smart feisty heroine, sexy mysterious hero, tons of romance, and a plot that straddles the line between dark and grey with ease to give me just enough to satisfy my love for the dark.
Sera is the perfect mix of sass and vulnerability. She's as smart as she she is beautiful, yet has an air naitivity about her that suits her perfectly. So many times it can come off as bratish behavior, but with her, it came off exactly how it should have: a young inquisitive woman who grew up sheltered, yet had a zest for life outside her privileged upbringing. then she meets Flynn. He's the one person that turns her world upside down. His charm draws her in, but can she trust him? Is he what he claims to be?
The plot to the story really drew me in. It is full of twists and turns and I couldn't put the book down. As I mentioned before, I love dark books and while this one had dark elements, they weren't so dark that it would turn readers off. I only wish this were a full length novel so we could get more of these characters!

This is a contemporary fiction novel, don't let the cover fool you. It's a gorgeous cover with a fast read inside. Great characters. I didn't read the blurb when I got this book, and I have to say, I'm glad I didn't. The cover is eye catchy. It was a good story line with just one bad scene that was memorable which is why I rated the book a 4. The story wrapped up nicely. This was a great first read of 2019.
I really like Sera. She was a good character that was well written. It was easy to connect with her because at some point, all of us feel trapped doing one thing or another that we didn't want to do because of our circumstances. I hope that the Firebird did find what he was looking for after the story ended.
I recommend this book to any who love to read light detective stories filled with romance.

Loved it!!!!
This book had me gripped from the very first page, so much so, I read it in one sitting.
The pace of the story flowed brilliantly.
The storyline was amazing, a caged Princess kept hidden from the world most of her life. Her father brings her into the fold to crack a case and find out who's stealing from him. Something her two older brothers can't do and have no luck in finding out useful information at all.
Something isn't adding up the more Sera digs.
Everything starts to unravel for her but what she finds is not what she expected at all.
Her world falls apart.
Throw in a handsome stalker, Flynn, that keeps her on her toes and you have one hell of a story.
I only wish this story was longer, I don't think Sera's and Flynn's story is finished.
I want more from each too!!!

WELL..... this is the first book I have read from this author and I loved it. There is no unnecessary filler and the story moved along well.
Sera, a prized mob princess and Flynn, a rebel with a cause. Could you get a better story? the answer is no. This was just such a ride. Sera is called out of her sanctuary and asked to look into a family threat while being limited to information. What she didn't expect to find was that her cushioned life did not come without a price. Flynn is trying to bring attention to those who are doing harm in his city. He can't go to the police as they are on the King's payroll but what he can do is force people to take notice. He just didn't plan to take notice of Sera.
What an HEA, if I do say so myself.

Must read
What a great twist on a romance! This is very different to what I usually read but I couldn't put this down.
This book has great way of leaving you hooked and wanting more and I'm hoping the ending is leaving this open for book 2.
The striking cover first drew my attention but the plot kept me reading and needing to know what happened.
My only criticism would be the final chapter before the epilogue felt a little rushed and could have had more content but it doesn't affect the great story.

I didn't read the blurb when I bought Firebird I just saw the cover and decided I needed it and I'd like to give myself a pat on the back for that exceptional level decision making.
Firebird is an amazing story of love, hate, fear and justice. I can't praise Alice La Roux enough for how she handles difficult subject matter. Firebird is written with heart and soul and you can't help but feel all of Seraphina's struggles. I want to be Seraphina when I grow up.
Alice's stories are overwhelming and take over your world and Firebird is no exception.

I really enjoyed this novella! Sometimes shorter stories can lack a bit of depth and detail. Not Firebird! There is a lot packed into this book, suspense, intrigue, mystery, a little darkness and some sexy times (what is it about green eyed guys ;-) )
This is the first book I've read by Alice La Roux, but I'm definitely going to look up some more. An entertaining, easy to read, well written 4.5 stars

This was a decent read although I was seriously frustrated at how short it is which gave it a little bit of a rushed feel. Although I have to say I really really enjoyed it. I liked the story and the characters I just wish we had more I know this was extended from a novella but it just still wasn’t long or feels enough! I’ve gone between a 3 and 4 but it could have been a 5 with more depth. I do like her writing style.

Yes I loved this book the start was gripping and felt very real . It was about a hidden princess totally unaware of what's going around in the real world a princess that longed to know what it felt like to be free and loved. The truth will set you free as they say but her case it's set free but came at a cost.

I always love a strong fmc and Seraphina is absolutely that! I knew she was a badass from chapter one 😍
This was PERFECT, I found myself completely hooked the whole way through and couldn’t put it down! I, of course, read this in one sitting because how couldn’t you?!
Truly cannot wait to read more of Alice’s work, I just know I’ll love it all! Especially if there’s more characters like Sera ❤️

From the first page I was gripped and read the book in one sitting. The cover is absolutely stunning and vibrant it draws the reader in. A fiesty FMC who is hidden from the world by her family. A short steamy read that pacts a punch.

I can honestly hands down this book was absolutely amazing...from the very first page I was completely sucked in to this story and was gripped the whole way through.
Alice has produced a fantastic story with some even more fantastic characters...Seraphina was just brilliant and loved how strong a character she was, throughout the whole story I grew to like her more and more.....now Flynn you can’t help but love him, everything about him makes you fall in love with him.
There is some very strong storylines in this book, but Alice has well and truly done them tastefully and makes you just want to read and read to find out the end, I never wanted this story to end, but at the same time I couldn’t wait for it to finish and hope that they got there HEA. I love this story, I read it when it was just a short for an anthology and I begged Alice for more and I was so happy when she expanded the story. I gave it 5 stars and very few books get a 5 star rating from me, that shows how much I enjoyed this book.
Seraphina King is kept away from the King family business unlike her brothers who are groomed to be just like her father, but one day her father calls her brothers and herself into his office and when she spots something that they missed he has her join her brothers at work to help catch the rebel group who are harming his business.
Sera takes the task as it gives her more freedom but she doesn't like what she sees and she doesn't know who she can trust and she doesn't want to believe what her renegade stalker tells her about her family.
