Washington D.C. Power Brokers High Alert: There's a new prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney's Office...And he's watching you…

Michael Gresham has crossed the street and is now putting bad guys in prison, his defense lawyer days at an end. Who could blame him: the love of his life Dania was murdered and has left Michael with a desire to prosecute evil in all its forms. Will he turn out to be a top prosecutor? Early indications are that he will be a great one.

A friend wants to make Michael power of attorney over money he wants to go to his kids. Then the friend is gunned down in Washington and Michael is called on to prosecute. But the guilty party named by the eyewitnesses is someone so high up in the government that his office door opens onto the President's Oval Office. If Michael files the case against the suspect, all hell will break loose and he'll be in for the trial of his life--with the same noose suddenly tightening around Michael too. Can Michael avenge his friend's death and put one of the lofty power brokers in prison? Is he clever enough to avoid going to prison himself--especially when his fingerprints are all over the money his friend left to his children? Pull up a chair and pour a cup. It's going to be an exciting night!

Warning!

Be warned all the John Ellsworth fans, don't expect too much. It's nothing like his other books, either he wasn't feeling good or just trusted his editors. But you have to read it, because looks like it's going to be series.
Love Michael Gresham character, he's a big bold grizzly bear when needed, but truly caring good person. That was the reason I gave three stars.
Now going to list just some of the problems I have.
1- This book listed "The Hydra-Shok Verdict, book 6" with the same cover as this one "Michael Gresham/Annie Gresham, book 1." Which is correct?
2- He checks in to the same room in Washington D.C. that he stayed months before, and gun was hidden in that room!
3- Nivea character is carrying thousands of dollar bills in her jean pockets!
4- Didn't know there's child size body armor.
5- What happened to the "Frankly" the tabby cat, Annie and Michael adopted from the shelter?

I have really enjoyed John Ellsworth's books, except for this one. It, apparently, wasn't proof-read. Mr. Ellsworth repeats things over and over. While the story was entertaining, it was wholly not believable.

SMASH HIT AGAIN

"Nobody Does It Better" than John Ellsworth. I read the book without stopping over 30 minutes. Spellbinding is the only word to describe Book 1 of his new series. Just as he has delved into multiple personality disorder, he explores the mind of savants. I have never read an author who spins a story touching on current events , mysteries of the midnight and weaves then into entertaining fiction. An absolute must read.

john did it again and again again

This is my 14th book with John and he is a genius. I won’t read any other book until I finish all of his books or I get bored. I don’t think that won’t happen.

Unbelievable

I can't begin to explain in how many ways this book made absolutely no sense. The title character Annie is obviously presented to us as someone "on the spectrum" although she's supposedly not diagnosed. By her own siblings she's described as non-verbal, only rarely speaking and sometimes will say a sentence or two. Suddenly, she's having fully involved conversations with the protagonist.
There's contradictions from one page to the next. A sex act is unnecessarily described again and again. People supposedly giving witness statements talk uninterrupted describing totally random things, such as what they had done or said that had nothing to do with the crime. A hit woman does more to draw attention to herself than logical, but the reader is supposed to believe she took these steps to avoid detection. Law enforcement knows her name and what she looks like, yet she goes back to the city where most of everything took place and makes no effort to conceal herself.
I'm am amazed that this author has so many books, so I have to assume he is self published and the titles are only available electronically. I certainly won't be reading another.

missed it mark on this one but still recommend

Well, this book was a little depressing, I still gave 5 💫. It lost some of its thrills. Author trying to drag Michael into another relationship so soon is crazy. He’s still grieving over Danny. Let him breathe some and enjoy life. Six months with small kids too soon. And Verona talking about marriage already. The biggest pet peeves in my opinion is moving a significant other into your home with small kids in the home. Something I never believed in. I have zero tolerance for it. I have trust issues when it comes to kids, too risky. Some people just not genuine to be around kids. Annie was cute but unrealistic, she kind of threw the vibes of the story for me. I’m glad that Michael and Annie had a great bonding. Now, I loved the conspiracy. I’m still trying to figure it out. I’m trying to piece the puzzle together. I was thinking it had something to do with the wife all the time or maybe the money. I missed Marcel but I like Rusty.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I like Attorney Michael Gresham, I like his humanity his love for children and love for his wife. Annie is autistic savant who's father was murdered. Gresham attended law school with Annie's father and before he was murdered he asked Michael to make sure his children were able to keep 12 million that was deposited, unbeknownst to him, into his bank. Annie's sister and brother are murdered and she is next,

The killers are trying to pin the murder on Michael Gresham and Annie tries to lead him to the person that killed her father. Between trying to keep Annie safe and keep himself out of jail the plot continues to thicken.

If you like excitement and a great plot this John Ellsworth story will fulfill your needs.

I'm a little confused, because the cover I have is the same as on Goodreads' Hydra-Shok Michael Gresham Book 6 title. Amazon has it listed correctly. Anyway, this book had too much sex and profanity for my liking, but I won't jeopardize the rating because of it, because I should have known better, having read others in the series. After reading one particular one, I swore to ignore the rest of the series and only read the Thaaddeus Murfee books. However, Mr. Ellsworth assured me that the next one had little objectionable material, so I started reading them again.

Aside from this, the story was excellent, and we readers couldn't help but fall in love with Annie.

Great Stories

however if you tend to notice errors there are way too many in this series. There are the typical over use of spell check and grammar errors, the result of relying on tools rather than proofreading. There are also more fact errors than there should be. In this book for example he answers a phone call from Annie’s aunt saying she used her maiden name but we already know she has never been married so what other name would she use? Don’t let the little errors get in your way as I have read all the books in this series and the story lines are well developed and worth reading.

I thought the story was a little slow in the beginning but picked up as it moves on Annie just seems to reach out draws you to her. Michael is such a good character yet he lets the bad guys make them all appear not be very smart or good at their professions. Two cops let someone come up behind them get killed also two people open the door to get killed. Come on now, there is supposed to such heavy protection and the same statics work a second time. Now how dumb are the forces that are supposedly providing protection. But I truly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next.

Too far fetched. Every Michael Gresham since the 1st- which I enjoyed, has gone downhill with story/plots that border ridiculous. In this one we are introduced to "Annie", a possibly autistic and non-verbal child who after meeting Michael is spewing full speeches and yacking up a storm, as well as becoming a cool and calculating killer at age 12, which of course goes completely under the wire. There is also the fact that everyone around Michael gets killed, with pretty much no one mourning them. Just kill off family and move on. Enough! I won't be reading anymore of these.

Weird

This "story" -which I hesitate to even call it that - was a mishmash of he said, she said, he did it, she did it, they did it, no one did it but all had motive, or did they??? Half the time every character was chasing their own tails! Utterly unbelievable. Annie and her so-called savant abilities wasn't really even a big part of the tale! I liked other Ellsworth books but this one is just a mess!

Not recommended. Brings nothing to the table, not even scraps for the dogs!

This was the best of the Gresham series so far, Michael a very flawed Defense Lawyer joins the other side, he becomes a Prosecutor for The Federal Government. His newly discovered daughter in law hires him after an old college roommate of his is murdered. The author really breaks down the power structure in DC. The amount of pressure the POTUS can bring to a situation. The author also describes how very intelligent people with special gifts can become productive in this world. The ending was tied up very neatly and I look forward to the next book in the series.

This was not on a par with some of the better stories cast by this author. The character Annie is not officially diagnosed on the spectrum, possibly because her behavior is so inaccurate relative to those who are. Her achievement of vengeance is far fetched, as is Greshams's willingness to simply walk away from the criminal behind multiple murders. Feels like a thrown together effort to keep the flow of books coming....

There are many good characters who populate this book, including one or two slick "bad guys" (one being a "bad gal"). The story has some preposterous parts to it, but it's such a rollicking good adventure, that everything flows clear to the climax which has several acmes. As an attorney, I enjoy Mr. Ellsworth's courtroom scenes, and his knowledge of the criminal law process. I have yet to be disappointed by one of Mr. Ellsworth's books, and will continue to read them. I recommend this book.

Michael Gresham series!

Annie’s Verdict introduces Annie, a teenage girl who has special needs and is a profiler. Through twists and turns Michael Gresham becomes an Assistant US Attorney and must figure out who is trying to kill Annie and her family. A great introduction to a new character and supports continued growth of the Michael Gresham character and series.

Moving

This behind the scenes look into dirty daily life in our nation's capital is probably more accurate than most people would like to think. The story unfolds around an anonymous twelve million dollar deposit in a politician's name and gets crazier from there.

A fast paced read that really hits home!

Good Read

I enjoyed the book but it dragged a bit about a third of the way through. I kept reading because I’ve read most of the author’s books and pressed onward. The book took on his usual “I couldn’t put it down” and enjoyed reading it to the end. It had a nice twist in the end too.

Great Read

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Previous books have been written from the perspective of different people. It could be confusing at times. This was back to a third person perspective, a much easier read and on a wonderful book. On to the next Michael Gresham book (or should I say John Ellsworth). Thank you.

My rating is actually a 3.5. I’d read the previous books in this series. But with this novel there’s a definite turn. The addition of a young( 12 year old girl with autistic type symptoms) adds a different feel. Plot is interesting and legal issues are resolved/just in a rather unusual way. I’d recommend it.

Terrific Series! Do your best to read them in order!

I find myself rooting for MG by the thirf paragraph in each of the books I have read in the series. The author's characters are smart, well developed and vulnerable to their own greed, angst and pasdion. The books follow each other in a progressive rhythm so do your best to follow the leader.

A Page Turner!

No matter how far fetched this was, it had a good story. Does anything not go the way Michael Gresham wants it. And, a little much on all the murders. I think Mr. Ellsworth got carried away, this time! I love how Michael decides which rules of law he'll follow. And when he'll look away.

Absolutely loved it!

I've read several of Ellsworth's books and they never fail to keep me riveted! Having to read just one more chapter, and then another and another, before going to bed! This one has not disappointed!
You have the President, the VP, Senators, environmentalists, hit men, you name! And then he throws in a vulnerable little girl, that captures your heart! 💓

Mystery

You don't read a Michael Gresham novel. You gulp them down. They are so good that you can't put it down and just have to turn that next page until it is all over. I love the honest humanity of every book and the way that the characters are written. No one is perfect. The plot is real and keeps you enthralled.

More! More!

A complex case involving conspiracy, greed, and $12 million. Author John Ellsworth has crafted another storyline for Lawyer Michael Gresham to move from a Chicago criminal defense lawyer to a Washington DC prosecuting Assistant U.S. Attorney. This time a 12-year-old savant provides key clues to indicating the bad guys. Can't wait for the next book!

One death too many

How long does one keep a job when it costs family members and puts your children at risk? The life of Michael Gresham takes yet another truly unbelievable turn and the life lost this time is only acknowledged in the moment of death. No mention of Gresham's emotions or reaction loses this book one star.

Awesome this is the first time I'm hanging into the end with these characters, can't wait for the next book to come out, I have nothing more today about all the players in this series. COME ON WITH IT. I'm so warped up with Michael Gresham.. 💕

Interesting read.

Meeting Annie and her family was sad, but ultimately engrossing. I look forward to reading more "Annie " adventures. This was my introduction to John Ellsworth books, and I will try others.
