"A superb story from start to finish ... I would recommend reading this book more than once because it is so layered. A fantastic read." --Readers' Favorite.
"The novel brilliantly tackles the subject of subtle racism, the racism denied by whites, yet dealt with by black Americans daily. It is a novel worth reading, and one that stays with you. A timely and thought provoking read." --IndieReader.
One crime, leading to one city’s chaos, morphing into one nation’s battle, rising to one universal movement. When a college campus is thrown into upheaval after a series of racially motivated murders, the university's presidential elections echo the irrepressible emotions of the frenzied and irate students. With racial tensions rising and ensuing chaos, the two opposing electors become the voice to inspire and energize not only the students, but all people around the country. Behind the visible and audacious mouthpieces are the quiet and subdued speechwriters, Mark and Jerome—best friends, now at odds as they represent opposite sides. Skillful, methodical, and relentless—these influential and accidental protagonists must decide how much they are willing to risk, and if winning is worth losing everything. With the world watching, a murderer lurking, a city galvanized, and every step garnering irresistible momentum, their dramatic and unforgettable journey begins.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it brought me smack dab into the world of politics and who it is that really writes all those amazing speeches. The conflict between the writers is awesome and brought the reader along on a swift ride.
