I’m so glad I found this book. The poetry is poignant and profound without being too sappy. You don’t need to understand poetry to understand this book. The style is similar to Rupi Kaur books - simple, short, not too lyrical but not too bland. They also have similar themes - family, love, etc. That being said, I think Noona Luna is more insightful, but it’s just a matter of taste.

This book is good to read at the end of a stressful day just to unwind. Reading a poem from this book is like taking a deep breath and relaxing.

This is an excerpt from the first poem, with my rough translation. (It sounds prettier in the original Korean):
“널 사랑해서 나의 눈에 특별해 보이는 걸까”
Are you special in my eyes because I love you?
“넌 모두에게 특별해서 내가 사랑에 빠진 걸까”
Am I falling in love with you because you’re special to everyone?
“옆의 남자들의 눈에도 넌 특별한 걸까”
I wonder if you’re special in the eyes of the men next to you, too.

I think most of us can relate to these words. Oh Hoon puts poetic style to everyday experiences and makes them seem more beautiful. He also infuses melancholy, hope, and nostalgia into each page. That’s talent.

Meh... obviamente no soy capaz de ver y comprender los recursos poéticos del coreano, así que esta puntuación es meramente por el contenido y el tema de los poemas. Un tanto básico y aburrido.

There were good and not so good poems in this book collection of poems by the writer. I'll keep the book and go back to it after a while, and after my Korean language improves more to see if I get a new interpretation/feelings of these poems. It was a little bit enjoyable and helped me to learn more korean vocabulary.

The poetic style is good, just not my preference. It had some good vocabulary. I would recommend to beginner level Korean language learners that feel like reading poetry.
