The Story of A Long Distance Marriage by Siddhesh Inamdar is a take at romance in an unconditional manner. In an unconventional manner. Since ages marriages have been keeping two people together, physically if not emotionally.

Lets first admire the intricate details that make this cover an absolute delight, two house coats, a distance between them which is symbolic of the distance in a marriage perhaps. The spine holds two elbows intertwined, just as the togetherness of a marriage acts as a spine for the relationship as well. Has any cover ever come so close to the content of it's novel?

Inamdar's writing style is another treat, with well defined chapters and endings that hook you to the next chapter, he surely has some skills that any writer must surely have. It is neither naive nor pretentious and successfully captures the reader's attention without trying hard. A frank and informal writing style is probably my favourite.

The story unfolds when Ira, the female protagonist moves to London for pursuing higher education, a year after her marriage with Rohan. I applaud the author for creating a male protagonist who expresses his emotions unashamed of what people say. When I read the first few chapters, Rohan seemed much more emotional than Ira, which is a rarity! Most authors would rather sketch the woman as an emotional wreck. Equality, at its best.

However it is revealed that studies were not the real reason for Ira's depart. The real reason, though not earth-shattering, is quite unexpected. We see the relationship from both the perspectives and it seems more real than ever when both fight yet struggle to stay together. But can they bear a long distance marriage?

The concept of long-distance marriage in The Story of a Long-Distance Marriage was something new and fresh. A lot of us must have read a story revolving around a couple who are in a long-distance relationship but to read about long-distance marriage, it was something interesting.

Few incidents were sweet along with few quotes here and there.

“‘Horcruxes. In the books, horcruxes are bad. That’s how Voldemort eludes death for years. But I don’t think horcruxes are always bad. Or that it takes something as grave as murder to create one. We may not be consciously doing it, but we are splitting our souls all the time. There is a part of my soul in Old Delhi, where we are going. It’s where Ira and I had gone when I first came to Delhi to see her. There’s a part of my soul in Sikkim, where I first experienced what it is to fall in love many years ago. Horcruxes, I think, are a way of life. They are a way of loving.’”

I like the concept that no matter where we are and no matter how we are we are going to be fine as long as we have someone to come back to. I think it was one of the sweetest things I have read recently.

“‘P.S. We’ll always have each other to come back to.’”

To start with, the book needs editing. The book has grammatical errors and a few sentences don’t make sense. Use of some words at some places look weird and inappropriate. The book looked more of a personal diary of someone rather than a story. Paragraphs are super long with no or minimum dialogues. Sometimes the story goes on tot two-three pages with just the monologue from the male protagonist which is highly irritating. The book has unnecessary details. There is no character development throughout the book. There was no proper characterization of any character. There are abrupt changes in scenes. Dialogues were lengthy and looked more like a speech. Rohan’s character is immature who doesn’t know how to deal with problems. There is no chemistry between Rohan and Ira. Problems in the story were neither clearly discussed nor clearly solved, making everything a big mess. Both the main characters looked self-centered.

Personal views: I’m not a fan of open-ending books. They make me feel incomplete. Same was this book too. I felt that so much was left to know and read and the story had come abruptly to an end.

Rohan and Ira, two people who have been in love with each other since forever face an extremely unfortunate situation. Ira is leaving for NYC to pursue her passion, but there are unsaid words and unknown reasons. As Rohan tries to fit into a life without Ira, he realizes that they are so far apart, not just because of distance. And maybe, just maybe, it’s Rohan’s fault.

This is a very short and crisp book and I felt like the author wanted to voice his opinion on marriage and used Rohan and Ira to do it. They are two different people, and their lookout for life can be compared to opposite poles. But they love each other. Love, the last thread in their relationship, holding them together.

The strong point of this book is the fact that it isn’t your traditional love story. The author keeps Ira alive on Rohan’s mind because of who she is and what decisions she made to make their life better. There’s is no sexual or romantic phase in the plot whatsoever, but love, so pure and powerful, is evident.

The Story of a Long Distance Marriage is a bittersweet love story, that promises to take you into the world of everyday marriages, far from the fairy tale and into the reality of what marriage is like, up close. This book has impressed me with its measured storytelling and simple writing.

The story of long-distance marriage is the story of Ira and Rohan. Ira who wants to go new york for study, while Rohan is happy with his job in Delhi. Being with together for more than 10 years, and married for fifteen months will Rohan send Ira to follow her dream? will this marriage survive a long distance relationship? Will Rohan survive without Ira? Will Ira return? Many more questions.

Well, Rohan and Ira are the happily married couple and the time comes when Ira gets a chance to go, New York, follow her dream. Rohan, preparing himself to live a life alone, without Ira. What happens next?

The book is well written and is written in a practical way. first I thought it would be same the flashback romance story but then It is completely different from the rest of the stories. The author has narrated the story with utmost honesty. The plot of the story is amazing and practical. I loved how Rohan got busy with his new schedule, how he got his new role model in Tanuj. How his life changed after Ira left. The pace of the story is good and is going. The flow is smooth. One can easily connect to the story. I loved how the story started. and the best thing I liked was, The story was narrated in present and not in the past. One can easily connect with every difficulty that Rohan faced, every emotion that Ira went through. The language used by the author is simple and interesting. The characters built by the author are strong and each one of them had their own importance. Be it Yusuf, Tanuj or Alisha. I loved Ira’s personality, though the author could have described Ira a little more. The story is narrated well. Friendship, relationship, each and every relation is described well, be it mother and son, friends or a dog and his owner. everything. I loved the climax of the story.

Overall, simple language, Interesting plot, wonderful characters makes it an amazing read.

This story is just a quick, simple and perfect read. It’s a light and interesting read.

A short story talks a couple from India: Rohan and Ira who struggles with their marriage after 10 years and are trying to find a way to get back together through discovering themselves and each other.
I found it very light reading that the author was trying to voice out his own opinion of marriage, how the relationship should be, and what they should’ve really done.
His style of writing was very easy and clear that you don’t get really complicated reading.
Story plot was very smooth with lots of characters coming into the line adding concepts and thoughts here and there based on where was the author directing the story.
However; I couldn’t get really deep into the main characters’ especially Ira who her present in this story was very shallow and the whole story was mainly focused on Rohan who was very unrealistic sometimes ! which I didn’t find it fair in such story that talks about marriage which a 2 ways relationship

I am fascinated by the institution of marriage and never give upon the opportunity to read stories involving married couple and how they interact.
Here two young newly wed people are separated as the wife flies off to the US for her higher studies .
The husband , though not fully reconciled with the separation , stays behind. He introspects upon the marriage and his life . Slolwy he gets to know that his wife wasn't happy with him. Throughout first two thirds it was a three star read , but somehow as the end reached I started liking the book as well as the couple
All in all , a worthy read, possibly 3.5 stars

Siddhesh Inamdar's The story of a long-distance marriage is told from the perspective of Delhi-based Rohan, who works in newspaper editorial, whose wife, Ira is going away to New York to pursue her dreams. They've known each other for over 10 years, and at the time of Ira's leaving, Rohan appears to be more emotionally dependent on Ira, than the other way round.

He spends his new-found bachelorhood in the company of friends and colleagues - Yusuf, Gaurav, Alisha and Tanuj - who care deeply about him. I enjoyed seeing them through Rohan's eyes. When Ira tells Rohan on a call, her real reason for moving to New York (nothing dramatic, but very very believable), Rohan has a tough time reconciling his role in the turbulence in his marriage.

Indian novels on relationships tend to be from the woman's perspective or tipped in her favour. They also suffer from reinforcement of cultural and social markers that are at once comforting to the reader as they are confounding. I've often wished the author would not indulge in them, but I also think they've painted their characters into a corner and depend on these markers to extricate them from their situations.

Written with simplicity and an earnestness (even when Rohan has his bouts of defensiveness), this short book was refreshing in its depiction of a man's perspective on his marriage, without the tropes and cliches that abound in such literary endeavours. Rohan is refreshingly candid about crying, and feeling out of sorts when he feels Ira's vacuum. The referencing of movies, books and songs got a bit much for me, as did the rigors of travel in Sikkim that seemed overdone to bulk up the book. Unlike some of the other reviews of the book, I didn't miss Ira's perspective at all, because Rohan's was engaging enough. If anything, it only heightened Ira's inscrutability.

It's not an unputdownable book, and you won't miss anything if you don't read it, but it is a decent read, and blessedly different in its depiction of a long-distance marriage.

Title: The Story of a Long-Distance Marriage
Author: Siddhesh Inamdar
Publisher: HarperCollins India
Publishing Date: 25th April 2018
My Rating: 3.5 stars

Well! The cover of the book is really beautiful and pleasing. Before starting with the book, I was just admiring the cover and the print.
Being thorough with the blurb and the title, it’s not arduous in guessing what would be the story be like. But like every bookworm, I wanted to read how things will move between them against all the odds. And I’m not disappointed as the author has narrated the story with utmost honesty.
The book is about the two couples who goes through the test of long distance relationship. The story begins with Ira leaving for New York for her further studies and her husband Rohan though troubled from inside show up as completely normal. The book recounts the worries, sentiments, troubles and complications faced by them in a practical manner when Ira is studying in New York and Rohan is working in India.
I was hooked to know the outcome of their troubled long distance marriage and the reasoning if they decide to stick.

What was Good
The book is connecting and a light read which can be finished in a sooner time. I loved how the author has portrayed the character of Ravi as a genuine and naturalistic husband.

What wasn’t Good
But I was missing to know Ira as a person. Till the very end, the book was missing out the description of “who is Ira?”. I was carving to know her part of the story.

Why to read this book
Yu must read this book to know about the difficulties faced by the couples in a long distance relationship as the book is a befitting example. Such stories are rarely written.

The story opens with Ira getting ready for airport. She packs her bags and slips into the bathroom to take a shower. Rohan, all this while, takes his time to already miss her. After sobbing for a while he readies himself to help the luggage out. That’s when Ira makes a promise on each other’s behalf.

They will always have each other to come back to.

Ira flies to New York for further studies and Rohan does his part of missing, posting photos on Facebook and calling her periodically to check her well-being. There a lot of open display of love when the wife goes away. With some alcohol sessions and road trips with friends Rohan soon realises that his marriage was not picture-perfect that he may have assumed it to be. A major crack which he never realised was widening with each passing day.

Rohan is determined to fix his marriage. Ira, too, wants to make it work but she does not think Rohan even knows what’s broken. The daily going-ons are taking a toll on their marriage.

There is a lot of making up and there is a happy ending. It is not much of a spoiler. Those who love each other like Ira and Rohan do, they always get back together. But what is exciting is the way the story is told. The narration is colloquial but not casual. There as good pauses and string of events. There appears a quote from famous authors right in the beginning of a chapter. You know how when you are in love every song is about you? It’s is exactly how these quotes feel like. They somehow fit well into the story. I am sure if these were even about the natural phenomenon like photosynthesis, Namdar’s writing would have you romanticised that as well.

A very cute story.
Describes the male mind very well.
Solves the problem via the all knowing woman trope, which is irritating, but has both cute and profound moments.
Good writing.

As someone who strongly believes in love and marriage, the idiosyncratic title, an inexplicable blurb and an absolutely cute bright cover grabbed all my attention to read this book. It was my perfect over the weekend reading. The book turned out to be lock, stock and barrel different from my best guess and I was amiably amazed.

I have extremely mixed feelings about this book. It tended to drag sometimes and but also had some beautifully captured moments. Rohan seemed to be a little bit of an exagerattor sometimes. All in all a good quick read.

I don’t know which is more painful : the fact that we didn’t survive or that we survived fine without each other.

Marriage is considered the most sacred relationships of all. A woman leaves her family and home behind to walk hand in hand with a man for the rest of her life. In the modern hookup-breakup era , The Story Of A Long Distance Marriage penned by Siddhesh Inamdar comes like a bright sun throwing light on the importance of making people feel loved , not merely by money and expensive gifts , but by their presence and support.

The plot revolves around the life of Rohan and Ira and the unexpected halt in their marriage when Ira decided to move to New York to pursue her studies. Rohan is portrayed to be a loving husband , who stands by Ira and her decision knowing the fact that he is going to miss her. He decides to stay back in Delhi with his dog Momo as he is on the verge of a promotion. He confides to his old friend Yusuf and an office colleague Aisha. Life is smooth until one day reality hits him and he finds out the real reason behind Ira moving out.

Coming to the plot first , this is a fresh tale that we all needed. The plot is realistic and well thought of. I am glad someone finally made a move out of the cliche campus romance and brought out something realistic. The writing style is lucid and flowy. I completed this book in just a couple of hours because of the flow that the author I had maintained. The language is simple which connects you like a real life narration.

The characters are kept minimum and the focus is balanced between both Rohan and Ira. The author has done complete justice to both of the characters and the sub-characters. No unnecessary character involvement and the limelight stays on the couple. The author has beautifully described certain places that makes you pick up the book and travel to the place.

Love is not when two people are alike or when they try to be alike or when they can’t bear to be away from each other. Nor is it when they decide to live together or set for themselves common life goals. love is , once you are truly in its grip , a capacity for change. And once you have that figured , everything else will simply fall into place.

The author gives out a strong message through this book which is … (ok no spoilers) but yes this is something you definitely need to pick up right away.

Rohan and Ira dated for a decade before deciding to marry and then Ira finds an excellent opportunity to do her Masters in USA, which she had been wanting for a long period of time. This brings the newly married couple to a difficult decision of going long distance with marriage since Rohan has a job in New Delhi and Ira will have to be in US for atleast 2 years of her Masters.

This sets the premise for this 136 pager novella. Long distance marriage might be thought to be a new 21st century concept, but it isn't. Since decades, especially in the earlier parts of centuries, men used to go off for long periods in search of trades or jobs to different cities while women stayed back at their homes taking care of in-laws and children for months and years at end. The only thing that is new which society is finding a hard time to wrap their mind around is Women travelling cities for their education or work for a long period of time. Long distance marriage isn't new, just the women angle of it is.

In the book too, even though Rohan was supportive of Ira's decision to go to US for studies, he feel entitled to her time and finds a need of continuous gratefulness and acknowledgement from her side because he supported her. He goes into the spiral of self-victimisation and sympathy.

Especially when he comes to know of real reason as to why Ira took this university offer their marriage goes through a serious blow. This novel is about introspection in dynamics of a couple and importance of communication.

I am not sure if this book is everyone's cup of tea but I liked it a lot. It's subtle and yet important.

The cherry on the cake was the plot being based in Delhi. I have a special love and affection for the city to I felt a sudden surge of happiness with the description of DU, JNU, T3 terminal, Hauz Khas etc.

Give this is a try if marriage and their dynamics intrigue you. It won't take a lot of your time. If you have a spouse, this book can be a good topic of discussion.

Overall: 2/5
Feeling: Unsatisfied
Recommend: None.

The book "A Story of a Long-Distance Marriage" is written by an Indian writer Siddhesh Inamdar. Siddhesh works for HarperCollins Publishers India as a Senior Commissioning Editor.

The book narrates a story about a couple Rohan and Ira. Rohan and Ira have been married for about 15 months but they know each other for about 10 years. The book starts with Ira going for higher studies in New York. Rohan is hesitant but doesn't want to be in between Ira as his wife and her ambition. Ira left for New York and Rohan is busy in his daily chores missing Ira each and every second. The book becomes interesting when Ira calls Rohan and admits the real reason she had to leave for New York.

The book is well presented with an eye-catching yellow cover and even better title but doesn't meet the expectations as a reader. The book lacks emotions, good choice of words, phrases, and definitely an ending. I like reading books with hanging thoughts but the ground-up needed for such books is not reflected in Siddhesh's book. Reading even one time seems to be too much to ask. I hope to see better books in the same genre and probably by a more experienced writer.

Few quotes I liked from the book is as follows:

"Cooking together is something that would bring us closer."

"It's where one can come to be left alone."

"In that daily small act of kindness, I found comfort."

"One day It will be too late."

"How will you fix it when you don't know what's broken - Oliva Baker"

"An unattached women in India becomes the subject of loose talk rather easily."

"I don't know which is more painful, the fact that we didn't survive or that we survived fine without each other."

"Marriages don't come templated."

--Cheers
.- Happy Reading -.

First of all, congratulations to the author for cracking such a great deal with publication giant.

About the books:

There is not much about the marriage of protagonists bur you might get a few details of Bengali marriage from the protagonist's friend.

There is no palpable chemistry between the mc. It felt forced and like the husband is trying to show everyone what a sweet, innocent and incredible husband he is dor letting his wife to US.

There is no consistency of the plot. It felt like I am reading someone's diary where every sentence is pretty much straight.

In my personal opinion, the guy is so lame that whatever friends he says that has, I would vouch for them to be entirely imaginary.

The character building is equally weak. Not a single two legged character is likable.

When I read the title, I had a faint hope that it will be something off the market solution to many marital issues. But the excitement is gone with first chapter. Rest is drag.

Things I liked about the book:

My favourite character in book is MoMo. He is most honest and normal character in there. Probably the only one who is behaving its true nature.

The final two pages where the incident is described of how they found Momo. I liked it and truly felt the emotions.

Overall:

Pick this book at your own risk. It is one of those pet projects of publishing house where the marketing got the biggest Chunk of budget and all is spent in advertisement.
That being said, I don't want to dissuade the author. It was his first project and I respect his ability to make the deal. Hope next time if I pick any other book by him, I won't be disappointed.

This story is about the complications of having a long distance relationship. When I read the title I thought that it is a story of two lovers who is having a separation because of distance and fear of getting married but it turned out to be an after marriage life separation. That one story line did surprise me a lot and got my attention.

This story has many confident content for today’s generation marriage life which they need to work out for a better relationship. Rohan fulfills all his responsibilities as an husband but still Ira is upset with him. I liked the love part from Ira point of view. Everyone has a way to show their love. The way of showering Love for person is not a constant thing,it differs from person to person still whatever may be ,Love is the only thing which holds the relationship.

Author narration was beautiful ,real and sensible. The anger, the love, the disappointment ,every emotion was flawlessly put out. The narration was consistent throughout the story. Other characters were equally good.I really liked the trip to Sikkim,it was realistic , I mean it didn’t end up like an usual “way too” romantic trip to end the story once for all. No unnecessary drama was cooked up to increase the length of the story, that made the story interesting to finish up in one go.

Overall “The Story Of A Long Distance Marriage ” is an one stop (understanding each other) journey to fix things up so as to enjoy the destination (Love).

The book shows urban relationships with quite ease. Written so beautifully and being unflinchingly honest, this book explores the marriage of Rohan and Ira. Being married for only fifteen months, they are quite comfortable living in Delhi with their dog Momo. One day, Ira decides to leave for New York to study. And then begins Rohan’s life without her. His friends, Yusuf, Alisha and Tanuj help him live without Ira.

Rohan is smoothly living his life without Ira, when one day, during the call, Ira tells him the real reason of going to New York. Well, I’m not going to disclose the reason. Rohan’s life after that changes drastically, he’s almost on the verge of losing himself to depression, when Yusuf’s Delhi visit changes him.

The author weaves the story naturally, blending in it the values of love, friendship, aloofness, relationship, and time. Ira is the star of the book, as she follows her dream and goes to US. Rohan is also good at his place, as the caring husband, cheerful friend.

Tanuj, Yusuf, Gaurav, Alisha support Rohan in absence of Ira, and are Rohan’s well wishers.

The book is a reality check of new – age marriages, and is written beautifully. ❤

Definitely Recommended to every bibliophile.

It is a cute approach to introduce the current generation that wants to stay happy and still find their true nature after marriage. It has a very cosy setup and the story flows seamlessly and you eventually fall in love with the characters and the story itself! The author has very beautifully portrayed the characters and their ideas .....

This is a story between a couple. Anything was not deeply explained in the book. After marriage, Ira would go abroad for her studies and Rohan will feel lonely. At a point, there will be fights between them which leads to nothing. Not a very good book to read.

"Only such a person would want to create something who has seen so much around him destroyed. Only she would look for beauty who has shadows to fill."
- Siddhesh Inamdar, The Story of A Long Distance Marriage

For me, The Story of A Long Distance Marriage was just a 3.5/5. It is the story of Ira and Rohan. As is clear from the blurb above, Ira decides to follow her dreams and study in New York for two whole years. Being the perfect husband that Rohan thinks he is, he doesn't stop her from going either. That is, until he realizes the real reason why she left. [And I won't disclose that here. That's for you to find out when you read the book.]

A quick simple read, it showcases the difficulties a normal married couple faces in the current times. The best part about the book is how the story is told. The pace, being a little slow, makes it a little hard to get through but the writing style and narrative makes up for it more than easily. I adore books which are beautifully written, and this was one such book.

The narration is smooth and pretty. Although this book wasn't boring, it appears as if had it been something boring and obvious, Inamdar's writing would have made that sound interesting as well.

Another great thing about the book was its cover. It was simple and yet, so attractive. I had wanted to stare at the cover itself for quite some time before I began reading. [I'm certain that's where I lost my time.] More than that, it is so in sync with the story. There are two robes (or rather, kimonos, I assume) separated by a distance, which probably signifies the long-distance. Then, the spine of the book shows two belts intertwined with each other.

Have you ever seen a cover so much in sync with its title?

What bothered me the most, I believe was the fact that Ira's character, despite being a major source for the novel, was not shown enough. It appeared to me as if she was there only as a shadow (which she probably was) but you know, like.. I read the 10+ pages novel and I still don't know who Ira is. I have no idea why did Rohan love her so much. I have no idea why did she do what she did. I just don't know.

Back to the plot, I found the plot quite entertaining, as a whole. The idea was different and refreshing from the other romances that I generally have to read in the market. It is a realistic plot. It was fun to see Rohan evolve as a man, despite his wife being away for such a long time.

Overall, I found the story a sweet and simple read. Something I believe you'd enjoy if you're looking away from a book filled with love triangles and drama, etc.

Let me first talk about the cover page. It's amazing. I picked this book up only because of that.
Coming to the story, it is a simple story and doesn't involve much of an effort to read. This book deals with the problems of modern day marriages where both the partners have to work towards making it successful.
I liked that the concept is different from novels nowadays. But I think the ending could have been better. But still I will give it 5/5.

It has been a while since I read a short novel. The book is written in the first person, narrated by Rohan, going through his life after Ira, his wife, left for Newyork to study. There are a lot of pop-culture references in the book that I had a good time googling and adding some of the books mentioned to my TBR. I liked reading this book. It gave a new perspective on marriage and the ending was so satisfying.

Loved the concept, but I think there could have been a better build up and ending. The ending was very underwhelming and the characters were not very well developed. I understand it’s a short book but it could have been better. The story was beautiful though, definitely hits home.

Ira & Rohan are married. Ira wanted to do her higher studies and fly’s to New York alone, as due to some commitment issue Rohan could not accompany her. But will Rohan be able to manage on her own for 2 Years? What are Ira s intention of going to New York? Will she ever come back to Rohan?
This book is just wow. I loved every bit of it. It has suspense and creates interest to know what happens next.
Writer has done great job by creating a plot in such a way.
This is like today’s generations love story which is sets a standard.
Love is not only until marriage and its not so easy to make it happily ever after explained in the format of tale.

An attractive book cover is always a fascination for the readers. This book all dolled up in yellow featuring the bathing robe of him and her; it is the cutest book cover. We begin with the book cover, and land in Amazon shopping cart. Yes, I do!

The story of ‘Rohan’ and ‘Ira’ is about the Delhi-based married couple running between careers goals and relationship goals. The hardships of a married couple residing in two different countries have been pictured in this novel. Maybe you will hate Ira when the fight begins, but eventually settle for the fact that she might have her complaints with Rohan. There is no dramatization of situation in the novel which is the best part of it. You don’t have to over stress yourself with the unnecessary details mentioned. The plot is not unusual one, but it gives a different touch to the couple stories we read. There are friends like Yusuf, Gaurav, Tanuj and Alisha who stand as pillars supporting the story of Rohan and Ira. How did I forget Momo! Momo is their dog, who Ira claims to miss more than she missed Rohan residing in the US. The plot has described strong emotions such as separation in the simplest form. This one time when Ira starts giving instructions to Rohan about the house and momo is the best emotion. It is said that at times, giving instructions while leaving is another way of saying ‘Goodbyes’. The places described at their best starting from the locality of Shahpur Jat, to the streets of New York, hills of Kunzum to the sweating wedding of Kolkata. I believe every novel has something to offer. Here, this piece has some marriage lessons for everyone. One of its chapter mentions about cooking and Ira once said to Rohan “cooking together is something that would bring us closer.” How true is that! And then, there are lines like these ‘What would it be like to start a life with someone new without the baggage of a decade?’ I went in a different zone pondering on this point for hours and missed my target of completing the book. Their marriage needed counselling I felt with every single time, Ira screaming and Rohan hanging up. Another aspect of the couple goals highlighted in the book is Travel. Well, we have termed it as honeymoon…but I think it is well depicted in the chapter that traveling helps you find a better person within you and solve the problems residing between the two. I believe you would be eager to know what happened to the chapter where Rohan met Alisha, or the chapter where Ira screamed at the sight of Momo. All you have to do is turn the page of this yellow shiny novel and explore the long-distance marriage yourself.

I was attracted by the premise of the book and the lovely jacket (take a look here: https://harpercollins.co.in/book/the-...) but ended up feeling a little let-down.

This book is a better-written, more mature Chetan Bhagat (and I meant that as a compliment!) The writing is solid and unpretentious and its honesty shines through/

That said, I felt the book did not explore the promise of its title enough: it was less about the marriage of Rohan and Ira and more about the individuals, with a massive bias towards Rohan. Granted, it was written from his point of view, but I felt that the book never let us get to know the real Ira, not even through Rohan's eyes.

The last one-third of the book went into a lot of trivialities (not sure whether the author had bigger plans for those characters and situations, but they never went anywhere) and the story rambled a lot before coming to a stuttering end.

Would I recommend this one highly? Unlikely. But would I pick up another book by the author? Probably, because I like his voice and sensitivity.
