1. i know there are still three books left in this series but i already know this is my favorite

Second chance romance.
Separation, during which both are celibate even though it's 13 years.
The Hero does really try to be intimate with others and he is with another woman when they meet back up after the separation.
After the meet, before they sort things out the Hero leaves the heroine with the impression he's slept with other women and currently has a girlfriend even staying out over night.
When they meet back up the Hero is really mean and cruel to the heroine for some time.
They split up over misunderstandings and miscommunication and meddling family so he believes she has done something awful as a result he's hurt but instead of coming out with an accusation about the crux on their issue it felt to me it dragged on a bit and in that time the heroine is so so hurt.
The truth is even though the issue that's between them wasn't her fault, I can understand a woman thinking it is so she just takes it. When she tries to explain he hurls insults, shouting or leaves.
I can understand with his version of events he's hurt, it's awful but if he believes that of her I think it would have killed his love and most men would have moved on.
They remain married during their separation.
The Hero only really believes the heroine about her version of events when he hears it from a third party.
I struggles a bit when the Hero is this mean, bordering on emotionally abusive, as what happens next time you cross them? It shows an ugly side of their personality that doesn't go away just because he knows she's innocent. At the same time the sin he thinks she's committed is bad so...
Secondary characters with breadcrumbs dropped for future books.
HEA, but only towards the very end.

Review for the duet:
All HIS hate, grudge, hurting words and even a little scary times toward the heroine it’s what I’ve always expected in a book but coming from a woman towards a man who has hurt her, it never happens!
I guess it’s easier to write all this hate from a man… the women need to be sweet to like them…
The heroine in this book takes it all and then forgive everybody in one second! I expected more…

Just when I think Emilia Finn’s books can’t get any better than the perfection they already are she goes and gives us Without You. This book had me going through so many emotions I probably looked like a lunatic while reading. I swooned, I cried, I got mad, I laughed. You name it, this book made me feel it. From pure joy to utter shock Without You pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the last page.
Scotch has been a man of mystery since he was first introduced in Emilia’s Rollin On series. Never quite able to pin him down and see what’s really behind the nickname until recently. He’s definitely packing some “OMG!” secrets much bigger than what his real name is. No, I won’t tell you his name either. You’re going to have to read to discover that one. All of Emilia’s men are giant teddy bears, but Scotch may just have the sweetest heart of them all.
I won’t go into too much detail here. So much of this book is based on finding out the real story of him and Sammy you have to read and experience that beauty to get the full effect. These two are one of my favorite couples from Emilia. Their story is both heartbreaking and beautiful and will have you going back to read it again and again.

Have you ever read a book that you didn’t know you needed until you picked it up? This was that book for me. Scotch knew that he wanted Sammy by his side since they were young. He never relented or backed down. This book made me swoon and realize that the author has outdone herself with this series.
This is one of those slow burn books that make you never want to finish it. That’s how involved you will become with the characters. The drama, the struggle, and the emotions that are poured into each word is so worth it. When I say that I felt connected with Sammy and Scotch, I felt like I was part of their inner circle. Each emotion that they felt, I swear I could feel it in my soul.
This book was amazing from start to finish. I will recommend it to others to read. I give it 5/5 Platypires.

Sammy mouths the words 'I love you'.
I smile the smile of a man who has everything he'll ever need in life. "I love you too".
I loved this SO MUCH!!
Sammy and Scotch are simply MY BABIES they're too cute and their love will never die. They ripped my freaking heart out, again, but damn it was worth it every second. They deserve their happy ending, as much as anyone else.
Sure, the book had too much angst and even though I'm not exactly a big fan of it (who is??), I truly loved it so much. All the fights, the frustration, the miscommunication between Scotch and Sammy gutted me every single time, and I'm sure I could do with less, but it all lead to this beautiful ending.
And we got to see more of Luc, Marc and Ang, whom I simply adore, and how they stood not just by Scotch's side all these years, helped him get back on his feet and never stopped supporting him, but also by Sammy, whom they never stopped loving, how they supported her when she came back, stood up for her, kept her company and took her back in their family. Even after 13 years that bond didn't break. I adore them all!

Without You is book 2 and needs to be read after Surviving You. This book is set in present time and after a thirteen year absence Sammy has returned to town needing Scotch’s help but there’s a lot of hurt, anger and pain to work through before either one can get what they need.
This is another great contemporary romance series from Emilia Finn but it’s really best to go back to where it all began and start with The Rollers as characters interconnect.

Disappointing
Sammy was their family when they were kids. And yes, she disappeared (thanks to her father's threats) on them, but they were absolutely horrible to her when she came back and wouldn't let her explain. Not that she did a good job of explaining until much later. 🙄
This book should have been half the length and merged with the other one. There were plenty of redundancies all around. And this book was seriously ridiculous.
Marc and Britt and even Sam/Scotch were just terrible to Sammy. And apparently, all this time, Oz and Alex knew that their dad punched her dad because of the threats he made to Sammy. But no one thought to tell Scotch that information as to why she left and what was happening?! Seriously? It's best to let him be miserable thinking she doesn't love him vs she left because she loves them all? Get real.
And then she tells him she miscarried and he calls her a liar?! Eff you, man. I'd have reacted the same way she did too and just let him go. What a jerk. And then only because kari and luc got some paperwork showing she miscarried, Scotch was able to realize the truth? Um no. They were always honest with each other but he thinks she lied about that?? Dumbass.
I loved how marc was ready to go marry her though. He was super cute in that scene. And at the end where they all showed support for her adopting Lily. But man. This whole book was drama drama drama. Especially when they knew a lot of the truth 12 years prior and didn't mention it!

I was hoping Luc's story was next. He and Kari, huh? Fun. That's going to go over well I'm sure. But then I feel like it may be too similar to the other story too with the rollers.
I like the story line overall, but I find the details are off and inconsistent. And the non American terms... Ugh. Pick a local location outside of the US if you're going to keep using non American terms!

Man this book, this author, these characters. First I ached for the child that was forced to live with such idiots for parents. I loved the fact that this author spared us the teen angst, I couldn't have handled that on top of everything else. I love Sam especially young Sam who wouldn't take no for an answer. The beauty of young love. And then . . . those it'll never happen to me stupid genes kick in. Well this author writes an amazing story that literally took the tears I was crying on the inside for both of them but really for Sam, to the outside and I had tears in my eyes for that hurt boy AGAIN as the story unfolded.
No I wont say more but I will say that this story stood on family and love and support on one side and total abandonment on the other. While Sam took a dive with love and support Ricci took the path of self punishment, alone. This author played this perfectly and took much pleasure in the torment her story caused, heck that's what authors do. This author did it with a bow on it. This is the second book I have read by this author and yes I am going to continue getting my ugly cry fix from her for a long time.

This is book three of the Survivor Series and Book 2 of the Sammy and Scotch series.
This is also tied to the Rollin On series by the same author Emilia Finn.
This book starts where the first book ends, this book is a lot about forgiving and understanding. This book has a ton of moments where I wanted to strangle the characters for their lack of communication. Why could they just not talk to each other? A lot of wasted time. It just was not what I was expecting from this author, I have read all her Rollin On series books, I read book 1 of this series and this was just so far removed from those, I just did not love it.
The character development was minimal, it built of the knowledge that the reader had from previous books and you just did not see much growth. You do see more about the bandmates, and as I mentioned above you learn a lot about Scotch.
This book does have a HEA and does not have a cliffhanger.
This is also tied to the Rollin On series by the same author Emilia Finn.

Book 2 and for me just as good
This time it is “ Scotch” Sam Turner and the girl who broke him Samantha “ Sammy Soda Ricardo” who left him 13 years previously and sent him into a living nightmare where he hasn’t been able to move on.
Brother to Alex Turner and band member with his school buddies Scotch just goes through his days loving his new nephew Charlie and his family, playing music and finally taking the plunge and finding himself a girlfriend “ of sorts”
When back into his life comes Sammy with a request for him to help her a a little baby that she wants to adopt
You see before Sammy skipped town thinking it was the right thing to do at the time , these two got married, and still are , which is why Sammy needs the man she still loves unbeknownst to Him, to help adopt Rosie, whom captures many a heart at such a tender age
I loved the 2nd installment and was a great story
On to book 3 ❤️

I want to start by saying I am a HUGE fan of Emilia Finn. I started reading the Rollin On Series last week and I've already made my way here, to the 2nd book in the 2nd series. Up to this point I have loved and devoured every single book. I also want to say there is nothing really wrong with this book. I'm just personally not a fan of high school romance stories. Though I understand we need Scotch's background, and I see where this is leading, I still struggled with getting through the juvenile love aspect. I also found the ending to be a slightly unrealistic and predictable. Personally I would have preferred the high school aspect of this story to be summarized quicker rather than it being delegated its own book. I'm hoping the second book of this duet will move on to their current adult lives and get this series back on track for me .

Perfect Closure
I read this via my ku subscription. I'm leaving my review voluntarily. This story is part 2 of a duet however it is part of a series and their are characters from the other books here too. Start with the Rollin On series first.

First, I am revising my opinion of Samantha aka Sammy/Soda. Yes I finally like her character. Sam and the rest are as likeable as ever.
Author Emilia Finn does an amazing job writing her characters. It is easy to get caught up in their stories.

I read this via my ku subscription. I'm leaving my review voluntarily. This story is part 2 of a duet however it is part of a series and their are characters from the other books here too. Start with the Rollin On series first.

Felt like a long prologue…
…that could’ve honestly been written as flashbacks in their bigger story.
However, the greatness of my anger that I can’t even vent about because—spoilers.
Sammy honestly wasn’t my favorite. I struggled to finish this one despite how short it is. However, her parents. Ugh. Despicable human beings. Even as a parent myself, I will NEVER understand or sympathize or condone people who could do what they did. What they threatened to do. Just because they weren’t getting THEIR way.
Anyway. Scotch has some growing up to do (and not in a bad way, just in general). Sammy’s got some making up to do, and I’m hoping I can get sucked into the next book like I do with so many other Emilia Finn books.

Another awesome book <3 from Emilia Finn. So funny and so good.
I am not good at writing reviews, I read them..., but I am not good at writing them. This book made me cry...don't know if it was that because I related so much with the main character ( shit she's been through but without the HEA :)) ) or because I am a sucker for a good book.
It is an excellent book, so well written, never dull, you feel as if you're there feeling their love and pain. When the second part started ...I did not sleep until I finished it.
I highly recommend it and do try other books from this writer...she is awesome.

Emilia Finn's trademark rollercoaster of emotions and hitting you in the 'feels' writing is once again in fine form with Scotch and Sammy's story in the Survivor series! I am always wanting the next one with Emilia Finn books and this one was no different! Taking us back to the beginning of Scotch meeting Sammy and keeping us totally involved through to the now plus more, with never a lull moment at all is why you really need to do yourself a favour and read this series! This book leaves you wanting more of all the characters such is Emilia's writing style....hook line and sinker! I can't wait for the next one!

I was a little bit irritated by how the last book ended. It seemed to happen so fast. I was glad to jump right back in this one. There is a time jump where these characters have gone separate ways. I was glad to see them back together, even if they were not back together for a large part of this. I was bothered how a love that was so pure and genuine had come to this where it was filled with so much mistrust. I also hated how the secondary characters were so cruel at first too. It made the friendships and bonds seem less true.
The ending came up quickly again in this book which is so unlike this author generally. Maybe it was just me feeling like it was rushed. Regardless, I did get a HEA but I wished that it had been fleshed out more.

This book is hands down my favourite book by Emilia Finn. It is a second chance romance. While part 1 would gut you to the core, part 2 mends your heart in the most beautiful ways. One of the best parts of the book is that we get to meet and know the younger versions of the characters in the series and the bond between the band. Scotch and Sammy are the most fun and lovely characters. This is a must read for all romance fans.
The storyline and character are amazing and you'd want to read this to find out Scotch's real name.♥️♥️♥️

Wow...emotional
Wow...it’s all gonna fine, reading along & loving the characters. Feeling like I truly know them. Then all of the sudden, you just know. You know something is about to happen. You can try to prepare yourself, but it never works. The tears fall...they fall a lot. You laugh a little in the middle, but they keep coming. & then you don’t know where to go.
Emilia has yet to disappoint me with her writing. The only place to go now is to move forward & go to the next book. ❤️❤️❤️

I Loved this book.... Not going to lie. I really didn't want to read Scotch & Sammy's book and so since my OCD wouldn't let me bypass them to read Oz's book..... I gotta say I've never been happier. Their story was AMAZING. It's funny that I fell in love with Scotch in the first book and I thought he was a dick in this one (but only halfway through...lol). I don't like writing reviews that give the story away but you seem to understand Sammy's reasoning for leaving more in this and your heart breaks for her. Believe it or not you actually here about Sammy in the first book but you just don't realize that it's her. You'll laugh and cry. It's beautifully written. ***Don't read out or order and I would read the Rollers series first, you don't have too but you meet Oz & Alex in them***

Wow Scotch and Sammy’s story is an emotional rollercoaster not just for them but everyone the ups and downs at me on the edge of my seat I couldn’t put this book down and this series is amazing all the characters you meet some new ones and some you meet in the rolling series so it’s nice to find out what happened to them all. I can’t get enough of these series and would highly recommend as a must read author. I found Emilia through a facebook ad and have not regretted reading the the series it was for and reading every book after the next.

3/5. Generously. I started the series 1st with the Rollin On and then moved into this series. I love the characters and have enjoyed both series so far but unfortunately Scotch’s duet was a disappointment. They spent more time apart than together. More time of him asking her out and her saying no. So much miscommunication. Over and over miscommunication. And they are truly not together again until the epilogue. So the reader does not get to witness them back together or enjoy any good moments of the relationship. I found the duet very difficult to get through and finish. I couldn’t feel the connection with their relationship.

Scotch and Sammy
Gosh I love this family!
One of my favorite things is relating to what someone wrote. My firstborn was a 24/6 micro-preemie, and everything about baby Lily was heartwarming to read. It’s taken 14 years to not be traumatized when diving into NICU baby details. Another old wound, getting healed through books.
Emilia’s writing always hits me hard. I cried three different times on this one. So good but also gut wrenching and yay for found family and boo to miscommunication!
(Also, Emilia, I’m really good at finding typos so if you ever need a volunteer proofreader, hit me up!)

Always 5 Star quaity
I have yet to read a book by Emilia Finn that didn’t deserve a 5 star rating in my opinion. If you can play on my emotions, make me cry & laugh within the same chapter, you’ve got me. The way she develops her characters & keeps them known from book to book & series to series, just makes them your own family.
I told her after Surviving You that she better make it up to me, & she definitely did!!!!!!
