The Star Federation is at war. When the Seventh Sun ambushed Sciyat—a glowing beacon of peace—the galactic military retaliated with a purge, calling for the elimination of all Neo-Andromedans across the galaxy. Fleet Commander Erica Anderson helped initiate the purge. She now fights to destroy the Seventh Sun, no matter the cost.
Captain Jason Stone tried to stop the purge. He failed. Now, Jason is torn between his duties as a soldier and his beliefs as a man. He has his orders, but when he swore to protect the galaxy, he never imagined genocide. Fighting enemies both within and outside of the Star Federation, Jason resists the purge where he can, and holds on to threadbare hope for a disgraced officer and a bounty hunter.
Lance and Lissa are out to find and eliminate the leaders of the Seventh Sun. They agree that they need to destroy the dangerous Neo-Andromedan organization, but this hunt may demand too much from Lissa. Hunting bounty targets is easy; hunting her own people is unforgivable. Together, Lance and Lissa must face their enemies, but if either of them breaks, they will lose far more than their lives.

I absolutely loved this book. I've been with these characters for 3 books but it feels so much longer. I feel like I truly know them. I just want to hug them, to be with them and to know more about them.
Finishing this book truly felt like I had lost a friend forever. I love Lissa, Lance and the Arkins. I also love Jason. And Erica (even though I used to hate her)
I used to read about a hundred books a year and I had realized that books had made me stop feeling things. Because I had started becoming so critical of them. So I stopped reading altogether BUT this book made me want to start reading again.
I won't be a voracious, critical reader again but I'm going to always be on the hunt for books like this.
K. N. Salustro, please NEVER stop writing and I hope someday I can buy your Arkin plushies :P
Not quite resonant with the world-building and philosophical complexity/sophistication of some recent sci fi trilogies I’ve read but really enjoyable. The characters are engaging, there’s enough gender non-conformity and sexual orientation diversity to hold the interest fo someone who is tired of reading about straight people and macho male heroes only, plus the allegory for current racial issue created by the hatred the neo-andromedans face is interesting. Overall totally worth it!
I enjoyed this series but I did feel as if it could have gone longer into a book 4. The war continues in book three to a stilted ending but we need more information on the characters that we've grown to love [Lissa, Ashford] and those we hate [Erica] then where they ended. I am glad that Lissa was able to come around & trust those around her. Good read
