Ice was the fifth book in Lena Bourne’s Devil’s Nightmare MC series.

Ice. I’ve been waiting on Ice since the beginning. He had a tragic past but I knew deep down he had heart. He was a protector as evidenced by his actions when we first met him. But he was also detached and emotionless as a result of his sacrifice.

Barbie was a biker girl who kept choosing the wrong biker. She met Ice one night at a bar when he became her savior. No spoilers so no elaboration but Bourne took us through the introduction and then their travels as their tragic past slowly unfolded as part of the storyline.

True to the series, it was a quick and suspenseful read. And of all the characters so far, Bourne showed Ice having the most heart - although he was also the most ruthless. The combination was probably why he was my favorite to date. The resident IT hack, Hawk, is up next in book six.

Rough, gritty, and emotional. Ice captured my attention early on and kept me riveted to the pages. This one isn’t a sweet and easy romance. Pain, trauma, and flaws abound in Barbie and Ice’s story creating a read that simultaneously hurts and heals your heart. My heart ached for both of them so much while reading at the same time I was cheering for them to both get the happiness they more than deserved.
Ice’s last is horrific and heartbreaking. The endless pain and torment he went through continues to eat away at him daily no matter that it’s over. A hard man to love with the coldness he uses like a weapon surrounding him there were still glimpses of the man he was meant to be when he was with Barbie. Barbie herself was unlike nearly every heroine I’ve ever read. She was not your typical good girl ashamed of her life. She knew who she was, she owned her past and she proudly carried on believing in love no matter what. Both of these people so damaged by life have an emotional and powerful love story that will keep you hooked to the very end.

If you're more than a romance only reader...if you are a read- everything- reader, this will fall short in your eyes. Filled with cliche after cliche, this story will bore your brain. Your brain ,being where arousal really starts, will reject any attempt at plot made in this particular effort by Lena Bourne. The characters did not win my heart, and were barely two dimensional. I finished the book, but would not recommend it, and have no interest in reading any other part of this series.

Every time that I close my eyes I can't stop thinking about books. There are books that I want to read again but when I know that a series that I freaking love has a new book coming out I can't contain myself. And to top all that, if it's a book written by an author that I adore and a genre that I love, I'm on cloud nine. Jesus I couldn't start this book fast enough.
Lena Bourne is the bomb. Her writing is hot and sassy, wild and dangerous, sweet and heartfelt with a touch of suspense into it.
Ice is her latest release and it's the 5th book from the Devil's Nightmare MC series. Trust me that this is one series that you can't miss.
But let me just say one thing. Despite all books are standalones you should read all books in order to understand this series better. Get ready to fall I'm love with this guys.
This series has been one of my favorite for so long and knowing that this book was arriving made my head spin.
This new book focus on the lifes of Ice and Barbie.
Ice saw his life changed forever the day his dad was murdered and he lost his sister to. He was made a prisoner at the mercy of a very bad man.
After being released and reunited with his sister it was supposed to made his life better but it didn't. He's not the same guy he was and he doesn't know how to bring his old self back.
Barbie has been living a life of abuse and pain. How can you feel good when you're treated like garbage? She just wants to have someone that can cherish her and treat her like every in love couple do. But how can she? Can life smile at her?
I'm speechless, I'm overwhelmed, I'm happy but also sad. Happy because this book was just what I expected it to be but sad because it's over.
For those who have followed this series has imagine Ice to be like this. I always wondered what would happen to him, how he would struggle with his dark side and the way this author created this story answered all my questions. Ice was just like I hope he would be but there were parts of the story that I wanted to slap him... Jeez... Let's talk about a stubborn guy and I wanted to hold Barbie and promissed ger the world.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and intense. Each dark scene was followed by a light one but it didn't always prevailed.
These two had the fight of their life's but did they overcome it? I'm not going to answer that because I refuse to spoil. And guys.... The hot scenes are to die for...
Grab this series and give your heart to them.
Oh Lena... What can I say... This series just blew my mind away and I want more. Mire from these guys. More.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Hope's really all that matters. It's what gets you out of bed in the morning.

I have been wanting to read Ice's story since I read Cross and with each book that came out I just got more excited about him. When I received this ARC copy from the author I was actually nervous about starting it as I wondered if I had built it up too much in my head and if I was possibly going to be disappointed. I honestly should have had more faith in Lena Bourne because this one blew me out of the water. Ice is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite thus far and I have absolutely loved all the guys.I don't know if it is because I waited for his story or because he is simply the most damaged by far, for some reason I am a sucker for a broken bird and they don't come much more broken than him. Every step of his journey with Barbie had my heart breaking. Every single time I thought she was breaking through his tough exterior and melting something inside him he would slam the walls back up and shut her out and he definitely wasn't gentle about it but at the heart of everything you got the overwhelming feeling
that he was a genuinely good man who had lost his way and just needed a guide to bring him back to who he always was and to teach him that life isn't over until its over but it just may be that he is too far gone for that, only time will tell. Adding to his determination not to lower his walls is the trouble he has brought to Cross and the Devil's Nightmare doorstep by rescuing Barbie from her situation, it brings back too many memories of what happened to his family. Two of the most complex, damaged characters I've encountered in a while together with an amazing story make this a definite must have.

I absolutely loved Cross, the first book in this series and was excited to read the stories of the other Devil's Nightmare members. However, book by book through Rook, Tank & Scar I got more frustrated that the depth of character, gritty storyline and suspense of Cross was not continued. The books became predictable and shallow with repeated themes and huge plot holes (how could Tank continue to spend weeks with the sheriffs daughter without knowing who she was, once he'd been tasked to kill the sheriff). I was still hopeful for Ice, as we continued to get teased about him through the other books. Sadly his book was the most disappointing for me. His character was not established any further, the book had completely irrelevant sections (meeting the only remaining member of the Wolves), and I felt absolutely no empathy for Barbie. In fact I found myself hoping they would not have a HAE. This had potential for a great series of stories but for me did not deliver. I realise I am in the minority based on other reviews - but this is my opinion. I am in 2 minds whether to give one last chance for Hawk.

I enjoyed this one for the most part but not quite as much as I was expecting. I was really excited to finally get Ice's story and to see him find his person and work through some things but it fell a little short for me. Ice and the Devil's Nightmare have now taken out everyone from the MC that killed his father and previous MC and so is at a bit of a loss for what comes next. He has resisted joining this MC and is dealing with everything from being held captive for all the years and forced to fight in the cage to survive. It has definitely messed him up some and he shut down and out a lot of his emotions that he still hasn't quite let in or dealt with since he was freed. He heads back to him hometown for some type of closure possibly and that is when he runs into Barbie and steps in to save her from her situation where she is essentially being given from her boyfriend to someone else, without any say from her and she doesn't want to. They end up on the run together though Ice was not initially going to keep her with him for long. They did have an instant connection but Ice hasn't let himself give into that for a long time. He wants to resist and in some ways does even though they end up on a road trip to California and on the run from ex's MC. Ice has to work through some things while on the trip. Barbie feels the connection and starts falling for him quick and easy but he isn't very easy or nice about a lot of it since he wants to resist it and put a distance/wall between them. I would have enjoyed a little bit more of actually seeing him start to deal with/actually deal with his issues and finding a way to work through them and I was expecting a little bit more of that and seeing a little bit more of Ice finding himself and parts of him that he had shut off to survive but didn't quite get that which is why it was just so so for me. Still good and enjoyable but not exactly what I was expecting.

Read the first 2 books in this series, then jumped to this one because I had to see how the author would navigate Ice's journey to love, peace and hopefully salvation. He's been through so much and is so broken mentally, so far gone from his true self after having to survive on pure feral instincts for so long.

Not sure that I like the codependency that is Ice and Barbie's relationship or the fact that their individual mental health needs were not addressed by a professional. At least they have a chosen family within the MC with members that will call them out on the BS behaviours that their demons will cause to surface at some point.

I have had this book in my ku library for a while, I didn't think I would enjoy his story. However, I finished it in one day and I am so glad I finally did. Barbie has been looking for love for a very long time. Ice has closed himself off from feeling, for so long that it takes him a while to see the light. When these two finally get together and past that barrier, it shines bright.

Another suspenseful, intriguing and entertaining addition to this series. I couldn’t wait to get to Ice’s story. I was expecting him to fall for some sweet, whom brought out his softer side. I really didn’t care for Barbie at all. That being said, I did enjoy this story.

This is another great Devils Nightmare M.C. story. Just when I thought that the stories could not get better Lena brought her A game.Ice has suffered more loss and heart break than any human should ever go through. But he feels dead inside so he heads out alone since all his brothers and sisters from his M.C. we're killed,at least he got his revenge.His sister and her old man the President of the Devils Nightmare M.C. want him to stay but I've feels like he's dead inside and leaves again.After years in the hands of a rival mc that killed all his family and friends he's rescued by the Devils Nightmare M.C. and now that all of the men responsible for his nightmares are dead he feels he needs to leave .At least his sister is happy and her and her old man are expecting a baby soon.Ice doesn't want to bring his shit into their lives.He travels to his old home town and visits his pops grave.Then when he decides to go get a drink in a bar that's neutral territory he sees a beautiful blonde in a red dress across the bar from him. He sees her checking him out from under her lashes.What he doesn't understand is why none of these horny bikers are trying to get her attention.Until the old biker walks in and she smiles at him but as she tries to put her arms around him one of his road dogs says wait til she finds out.Barbie has noticed a change in her boyfriend for a while he's been meaner and doesn't show her any affection,sex is him hurting her for his satisfaction only but she thought since his favorite color is red that dressing up for him may make things better.So when his brother makes that abuse remark she asks what he's talking about and her boyfriend tells her he traded her away like an old used car or something when she says no way she gets hit and kicked in the ribs.Ice may be dead inside but nothing makes his blood boil more than a man that hits a woman .Will I've be able to steal Barbie away?Will Barbie be what he needs to start to live again?Will they be able to heal each other. There are so many unexpected twists and turns to this story it will keep you reading until the very last page. I loved it and can hardly wait to see what's next by this amazingly talented author.

I have to admit that I was getting very disappointed in this book when I first started to read it. I was not disappointed by the story, which is very good, but in Ice the character. I have been really intrigued by Ice since the first book and then subsequently through the other books in the series. But the way that he is in story and with Barbie really didn’t click with me. But I continued to read and more and more became clear with him.

He is a much more complex character than I gave him credit for, and this story was like peeling an onion. The more layers peeled, the more I was able to discover about him. I was really pulled to his character and what made him up the more I read and he started to become the character that I really liked. And then it shifted and then shifted again. So many shifts, but his character went through hell, and he definitely did not walk about the other side unscathed.

And Barbie … so much more than how she was originally portrayed. There is depth to her character that is not always clear. She is definitely about protecting herself, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Reading about her past really put some puzzles together. The pieces are filled with pain, but they are also filled with a path that defined her. But she definitely has some self-depreciation issues going on. She really became a character that I was able to empathize with.

The story as a whole is one of discovery and redemption. Ice definitely has demons that he needed to deal with … if he ever truly can. And Barbie was definitely able to find herself and never gave up that last bit of hope. So all in all, stellar story. The characters were great and the progression of the relationship had rocky starts and stops, but in the end made me smile as I read the final page.

Ice is a broken man.  Seven years ago, he lost everything and everybody in his life.  He was another MC’s caged fighting dog and this dog has scars.  Barbie has only known the life of the MC.  Longing to be made someone’s ‘old lady’ she has offered herself to many men and thinks that she has finally found the one to take care of her for life.  But being beaten regularly is just part of her biker life that she has grown accustomed to and doesn’t know any different.  When Barbie is about to be traded, Ice steps in and rescues her.  Now the two must try and make it across country and get away from two angry MCs. While on the road Ice tries to out run his memories while Barbie tries to melt Ice’s walls.  The fateful couple might already be doomed with all that they are up against, but Barbie is determined to make something good come of their trip whether Ice wants her to or not.

Ice is part of the Devil’s Nightmare series but can be read as a stand-alone story. This is not a pretty, romantic story that is all hearts and flowers and may have emotional triggers for some.   The story was interesting and well written and was unique compared to so many MC books that are available.  I was disturbed by Barbie’s thinking that her abuse from so many of the men she was with was normal and acceptable and that she just needed to live with it.  The story tended to repeat the helplessness of Barbie but at the same time she was the most optimistic character I have ever read. Bourne was able to write Barbie’s struggles and give her a voice about starting over no matter how many times it takes till she gets it right.  Ice is equally tortured in his self-loathing and can’t nor does he want to it seems, to find his way back to the living.

“Gritty & steamy MC romance”

I received an Advance Reader Copy for ICE: Devil's Nightmare MC written by Lena Bourne and voluntarily reviewed this book. Now a free man, “Ice the Butcher” has more than gotten his revenge on the Satan’s Spawn MC, the rival club responsible for decimating his father’s club. But imprisoned by their president, Ice had been forced to fight like a dog when released from his cage for years, and we get a sense of what this man has been reduced to under these conditions. Sacrificing his life for his sister’s was well worth it at the time of the attack, but his predicament definitely took its toll on him, reducing him to an uncaring animal mentality until he was rescued.

When he saves Barbie from a situation where she is about to be traded by her president boyfriend who no longer had any use for her to another man, he suddenly has her wellbeing on his hands. But first, he was going to enjoy her before he gave her a chance at a new life in California.

Barbie saw something in Ice, a caring which she hoped could turn into more for her. When it is clear that he is still mired in the past and keeps her at arms’ length, it nearly broke her, but she stayed strong. Ice was not the undefeated Death Match champion for nothing, but he saw himself as a monster and still did not think himself worthy of someone he deemed so pure and beautiful of heart. But giving Barbie her freedom was not what she wanted from him.

This is my first Devils Nightmare MC novel but I think I can safely say it won’t be my last read by Lena Bourne, I’m definitely going to read Cross, Tank, Rook and Scar. The writing and flow of the story was awesome and it kept my interest from start to finish I really did enjoy this book even though I didn’t like Barbie the h much at all, It just felt to me like she didn’t really know what true love was and just kind of clung to Ice because he treated her better than her previous boyfriends, I also didn’t like that she constantly compared every single thing Ice did with all the other numerous boyfriends that got a little old I don’t mind stories that have clubgirls who turn into old ladies but I at least like them to have a little self respect I felt Barbie was really lacking in that area. But in saying that I do think that she was the perfect partner for Ice her upbeat attitude and her willingness to put up with his crap at the start. Ice the H I liked him from the start his backstory was really quite heartbreaking, he loses his entire family except his sister and gets locked up for 6 years treated like a dog to fight for the MC that killed his MC and family, it took him a while to figure out his crap but once he got it , he absolutely got it. I’m glad he found someone to accept him and bring him back to living life. I received an ARC for an honest review

Ice is the first book that I've read by Lena Bourne, and I really loved her talented writing style, not to mention the party that is the Devil's Nightmare MC. (Wish I got an invite to the party sooner) Basically, Ice has a past that was chilling, and had my emotions all kinds of raw, as he was tortured by it. He meets Barbie when he's home to face part of his past, and rescues her from monsters, although, he believes that she's with a bigger monster now, him. And that's all that I'm willing to give up. This road trip they are on is dark & gritty, as both of them haven't had the easiest time, but where Ice is dark, she is light, so it's interesting to say the least. Their chemistry is off the charts, so when they come together, the sexy times light the sheets on fire! But the push & pull is rather frustrating at times, even though I know where it comes from, however it leads him to making the biggest douche move ever, so I wanted to junk punch him big time for that one. Luckily, there's a cast of secondaries that add depth, and sanity to the mix, and I need to read some of their stories for real! Finally, that was also a twist that I never saw coming which allowed me to drop some serious f-bombs along with some other twists! Loved this story, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I have been holding my breath to read Ice’s story, the biker who seems to have lost all his compassion, his ability to love, and is colder than an iceberg to everyone around him, including his sister. His captivity and having to fight for his life in cage matches, has broken him to all of humanity until Barbie, a club president’s wh***. Barbie has been through a lot in her life and is still able to smile and has accepted how her life has turned until her “boyfriend” decides to “give” her to another club president, one she doesn’t want to belong to. Her knight in shining armour is no white knight but as she gets to know Ice, she sees the man he was and can be, but only if she can break down his thick walls and melt the ice in his heart.
WOW WOW WOW WOW Lena Bourne does it again and Ice’s story is now my favorite. It’s raw, gritty, steamy, heartbreaking and heartwarming. A read that kept me on the edge of my seat wondering will he or won’t he, a read that flowed beautifully w/o skipping a beat, a read that had me misty eyed and had my heart breaking for both of them. A read that I couldn’t put down and by the end I had to figure if the puddle beneath me was from my tears or the from the ice that melted away from Ice’s heart.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*

This book broke my heart. Ice has been through so much. He doesn’t show emotion because he is so shut down. He rescues Barbie on a whim and she ends up being so much more to him. They have a battle of will because she wants him to open up but he feels like he isn’t worth anything. Beautiful read. Excellent writing.

~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Devil's Nightmare MC series next installment and the fifth book, can be read as a standalone. This book was an emotional journey filled with pain, abuse, love and hot bikers. This is Ice and Barbie's story. Ice has just escaped and been granted revenge for the past seven years of pain and horror he had lived and continued to live everyday in his nightmare's. When he takes a trip down memory lane and runs right into Barbie and the hell she is in. He can't not help her but he quickly realizes that saving Barbie might be his ultimate ruin. This was a good read and I wanted to love Ice but my love was for Barbie. No matter what Barbie faced she tried to find hope and I loved that about her.
This book just made me want to read the rest of the series to learn more about the other members of the Devil's Nightmare MC club.
Oh out of the books I read so far in this series I have to say this is my favorite. This is Ice story, Ice is introduced in the first book his Roxie brother and his the one that Devils Nightmare safe.
Ice was a prisoner for six years to the man who kill his family and his MC. He become the champion of the underground death match, he fought to survive but after his freedom he got his revenge. Now after a year of freedom he though he was not human anymore that he didn’t have a soul or he couldn’t love anymore but all that change when Barbie walk into his life.
Barbie had a lot of ex’s and she’s been beating and mistreated but her ex’s and it’s still the same when her now boyfriend the president of the bloods MC tells her to meet him and to wear something nice, she though he was going to change but it’s was totally the worst thing she was going to face. When he tried to trade her in to another MC president of the kings.
That’s when Ice walk in and safe her. That’s when Ice show her that not all man are the same , and that’s when Barbie started to bring Ice back to the living. The chemistry between them is off the charts.
I really love and enjoyed reading this book, I so felt in love with Ice ohhh. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
What an emotional read!
Ice was a recurring character in previous books where little by little and from a bit of a distance the cruel circumstances of his years as a fighter and all those scars that's left on his soul unfolded.
Ice's story wasn't about his past though but about a future he never thought he deserved or even wanted for that matter.
I was thinking about what kind of woman would do him justice when I first learned about his book being the next in the Devil's Nightmare MC series.
All I can say Barbie was his perfect match. They seemed so different on the surface but underneath the thick layers of skin hardened by bad circumstances and worse choices they were pretty much alike.
Barbie also had her fair share of pain in her past. She is an exceptional female character I'm not sure I've ever read before. She owns the path she has chosen, consciuosly deciding to always look for the light, even when there's nothing more then darkness around.
They had such emotional moments I even shed some tears while reading.
Ice's story was a great way to reach the never changing conclusion: love does conquer it all.
Superb writing, high emotions, great plot, raw passion.
Good book
Ice was kept prisoner for many years by the motor cycle club that killed his father and every member of his club the only other survivor was his sister whom he was told was killed. He was kept locked up and tested like a dog and forced into underground caged fights where he became the undefeated champion. He was freed by the Devils Nightmare club whose president Cross is with his sister they wipe out the club that kidnapped him with Ice brutally killing the worst of them. He believes he lost his humanity until Barbie comes into his life, she too has not had the best life she was abused from a young age by her step father ran away when she was seventeen and passed from biker to biker since most being bad men who best her. Ice saves her when she is beaten and being given away to another bad man by her current lover. He struggles badly with his feelings for her but nevertheless she gets under his skin and he falls in love with her. They go through a lot of difficulties and he has to break through his demons before they can be happy. It is a good read not typical of biker books as it deals more with feelings and emotions but in a different way.
***ARC Review***
Two tormented souls finding one another…One soul is looking for love in all the wrong places while the other believes he’s incapable of loving.
Ice has lost everyone in his family except his sister. In order for his sister to survive, he had to sacrifice himself and become a slave to another MC. Fast forward to the present, he’s avenged his family but it doesn’t bring him closure.
Barbie has taken her tortured and unloved childhood on the road and kissed a lot of frogs. She seems to fall in love with men who can’t love her back. Instead of falling off the wagon in her search for love, she picks herself up and starts all over again until she meets Ice.
Falling in love with Ice shouldn’t have been a given, but when one damaged soul recognizes another, Barbie can’t just let him go until he does it for her and releases her.
To find out the ins and outs of their story, get a copy and enjoy.
The story is told in dual POV’s and does not disappoint.
Must Read.
This is a book that will break and melt your heart in equal measure. This is Ice and Barbie's story and if you want light and fluffy, you will not find it here. What you will find is powerful, intense, painful, gritty, raw, harsh, and real. These two characters have suffered. They are broken, flawed and have had irrevocable damage done to them, but they are also strong and survivors. Together I felt that they were perfect for each other. They each provided something the other needed, whether they knew it or not. She brought lightness, love and a knowledge of his self worth to him and he gave her care, love, and tenderness she had never known. A truly beautiful and emotional read.
