Nick and Jillian could be a match made in heaven, but 10 yrs have past since they last saw each other and things have changed. Nick has gotten hotter and is known to be trouble on the ice and in bed. Jillian has gotten a bit jaded about men in her profession and the last thing she needs is to be Nick's agent or next in line lover.

Sport Romance gehört zu den Genres, die bei mir so eine Sache sind. Entweder finde ich sie persönlich zu kitschig oder mich interessiert die jeweilige Sportart nicht. Bei Eishockey bin ich immer ein wenig skeptisch, weil ich nur selten mit der Sportart etwas anfangen kann, dennoch wollte ich „Going for the Goal“ eine Chance geben und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht.
Die Geschichte liest sich flüssig und leicht, einem wird Eishockey noch einmal etwas ausführlicher geklärt, sodass auch Leser*innen, die sich mit dem Sport nicht auskennen, hierbei einen kleinen Einblick erhalten. Da die Geschichte abwechselnd aus der Sicht von Jillian und Nick erzählt wird, lernt man beide ausreichend kennen und erhält einen guten Einblick in ihre Gedanken- und Gefühlswelt.
Dabei ist die Geschichte schnell erzählt: Jillian arbeitet als Sportagentin und soll den berühmten Eishockeyspieler Nick Salinger unterstützen. Grund dafür ist sein Ruf, denn Nick gilt nicht nur als Bad Boy, sondern ist vor allem auch dafür bekannt, dass er sowohl auf dem Eis als auch außerhalb als hitzköpfig gilt. Für Jillian kein einfacher Job, da sie schon häufiger eine Schwäche für Nick gezeigt hat und immer mit wieder harter Konkurrenz zu kämpfen hat.
Neben vielen prickelnden Momenten, gibt es in „Going for the Goal“ auch eine Menge an Intrigen und Dramen, die ich zunächst gar nicht so erwartet habe, allerdings eine schöne Abwechslung ist. Was man jedoch ein wenig kritisieren könnte, ist die Vorhersehbarkeit in der (Liebes-) Geschichte und dass die erotischen Szenen etwas zu gewollt sind und für mich nicht authentisch wirken.
Kurz gesagt: „Going fot the Goal“ ist insgesamt eine gute Sports Romance, die mit einem unterhaltsamen Schreibstil und gut ausgearbeiteten Figuren punkten konnte und somit nicht nur für Eishockey-Fans empfehlenswert ist.

Vor fast zehn Jahren haben Nick und Jillian sich auf einer Party kennengelernt und seitdem konnten sie einander nicht vergessen. Jillian Nichols ist inzwischen Sportagentin geworden und baut mit harter Arbeit ihre Marke auf. Und Nick "The Punisher" Sallinger ist noch immer ein erfolgreicher Eishockeyspieler, doch im Moment braucht er jemanden, der ihm zu einem besseren Image verhilft und wendet sich dabei an dieses Mädchen von jener Party. Für Jillian könnte er zum Problem werden, denn Nick ist kein einfacher Klient. Außerdem sollte sie sich ihren vielversprechenden Klienten definitiv nicht nackt vollstellen, wenn sie als Agentin noch etwas erreichen möchte ...
Protagonisten
Jillian Nichols träumt davon, eine erfolgreiche Sportagentin zu werden, die ihre Klienten nicht übers Ohr haut und der die Bedürfnisse und Wünsche der Sportler wichtiger sind als ihr eigenes Einkommen. Als Frau hat sie es nicht leicht und wird von ihren männlichen Kollegen kaum ernst genommen. Vor allem ihr ehemaliger Boss Lou Parsons macht ihr die Arbeit recht schwer, obwohl sie wirklich für ihre Arbeit und ihre Klienten lebt.
Als Nick Sallinger, der seit Jahren eine große Rolle in ihren Fantasien spielt, in ihrem Büro auftaucht, weiß sie nicht, wie sie sich entscheiden soll, denn einerseits will sie ihm helfen und es würde ihrem Geschäft guttun, wenn alles gut liefe, aber er ist gleichzeitig ein Risiko, weil er sich nicht benimmt. Als er seinen Willen beweist, kann sie aber nicht anders, weil sie ein weiches Herz hat.
Aber auch Nick Sallinger hat ein super weiches Herz. Wenn er Ungerechtigkeit sieht, will er sie am liebsten sofort selbst in Angriff nehmen und er hält das bescheuerte Verhalten seines Teamkollegen Liakos kaum aus, denn er benimmt sich eigentlich immer daneben und provoziert Nick ununterbrochen. Und Nick verliert dann gelegentlich die Kontrolle.
Er ist sehr leidenschaftlich und das perfekte Beispiel für "Harte Schale, weicher Kern". Er mag Kinder und ist hilfsbereit, liebt sein Team und seinen Bruder. Und die taffe Jillian hat sich in sein Herz geschlichen, darum will er auch sie beschützen und hört auf ihren Rat, der seine Karriere retten soll. Zwar will er eigentlich seiner Karriere den Vorrang geben und professionell bleiben, aber er kann ihr einfach nicht widerstehen und nähert sich ihr vorsichtig an und möchte sie dabei nicht verschrecken.
Andere Charaktere
Lou Parsons ist ein sexistisches Schwein und hat ein riesengroßes Ego, dass die weibliche Konkurrenz nicht duldet. Wenn es bei ihr mal gut läuft, dann ist er sofort zur Stelle, um ihre Klienten zu stehlen und sie außerdem zu demütigen. Der Eishockeyspieler Sebastian Liakos ist recht ähnlich gepolt. Er provoziert seine Teamkollegen und will Nick unbedingt loswerden, indem er ihn zu leichtsinnigen Taten verleitet, während er selbst durch seine Beziehungen in Sicherheit ist und sich alles erlauben kann. Ein richtiges Ekelpaket, dass Frauen ausnutzt und sich selbst für einen tollen Hecht hält.
Handlung und Schreibstil
Die Eishockeyspiele werden nicht besonders ausführlich geschildert, was ich absolut in Ordnung fand. Zwischendurch gibt es Zeitsprünge, die mich kurz verwirrten, aber nach einigen Zeilen konnte man der Handlung wieder perfekt folgen.
Es geht eher um taktisches Vorgehen, etwas Manipulation und List, Liebe und Leidenschaft zur Arbeit, und natürlich um die Beziehung zwischen Nick und Jillian. Ich fand alles wirklich gut durchdacht und auch recht überzeugend. Die beiden sind ein süßes Pärchen und ergänzen sich super.
Fazit
"Going for the Goal" hat mir wirklich gut gefallen. Die Beziehung der beiden Protagonisten fand ich süß und überzeugend und auch die Welt der Sportler und Agenten war sehr interessant!

The synopsis sounded like my sort of sorbet, so I was pretty excited to get the invite to read this.
I loved Jillian and Nick. They're both stubborn and loyal to a fault. They butted heads and pushed each other's buttons and it was all so much fun to read. Oh, and their chemistry was off the charts.
The conflict was intriguing and I loved the small twist at the end. Of course there was a lot of miscommunication and jumping to conclusions, but it wasn't quite as annoying as normal.
Overall, a quick and cute read. I'll definitely be looking into the other books in the series.

Ich bin ein großer Fan von Sportromanzen und Eishockey steht da als Sportart ganz weit oben, daher hat mich "Going for the Goal" sehr neugierig gemacht.
Zunächst war ich von der Geschichte von Jillian und Nick sehr angetan. Ich fand es interessant wie sich die beiden kennengelernt und nach Jahren wieder gesehen haben. Leider hat mich die Geschichte der beiden dann doch ein wenig verloren. Ich fand insbesondere das erste Drittel sehr zäh und zum Teil wirklich langweilig. Es hat gefühlt ewig gedauert bis sich die beiden mal näher gekommen sind und auch Flirts und Neckereien waren eher Mangelware. Für mich war die Chemie zwischen den beiden leider nicht so spürbar wie zu Beginn erwartet.
Das Setting mit Jillian als Sportagentin und natürlich Eishockey mochte ich wirklich gerne und hat ein paar interessante Einblicke gewährt.

Vom Portal NetGalley und dem Verlag Forever by Ullstein bekam ich ein elektronisches Rezensionsexemplar von „Going for the goal“ von Sara Rider.
Das Buch hat in der gedruckten Variante 320 Seiten und erschien am 11. Mai 2018 bei dem oben genannten Verlag. Es handelt sich hierbei um ein New Adult Buch, in dem es zu sehr prickelnden Momenten kommt.
Zur Leipziger Buchmesse 2018 wurde mir das Buch schon vorgestellt.
Bei der exklusiven Preview wurde uns gezeigt, wie das deutsche Cover entstand, was ich persönlich total interessant fand. Denn im Vergleich zum Original finde ich das Cover vom Verlag hierzulande sehr viel ansprechender.
Aber worum geht es?
Die Sportagentin Jillian trifft auf einen Eishockeystar, wessen Image sie aufbessern soll. Zwischen ihnen stehen aber Gefühle aus der Vergangenheit. Denn es ist nicht das erste Treffen der Beiden.
Der Inhalt ist wirklich sehr knapp zusammengefasst, aber anders wusste ich nicht, wie ich es euch schreiben soll. Denn ich finde alles andere würde etwas vorweg nehmen.
Wie gesagt wurde es mir schon vorgestellt, denn sonst hätte ich wahrscheinlich auch nie danach gegriffen. Ich mag einfach dieses Sport-Zeugs in New Adult Bücher nicht. Allerdings konnte Sara Rider mich hier echt überzeugen. Ich hatte nicht das Gefühl, dass der Sport im Mittelpunkt steht (Andere Leser finden dies aber auch als negativen Punkt), sondern eher die Personen um die sich die ganze Geschichte dreht.
Ich war sehr angetan, von dem Schreibstil und kann dieses Buch nur empfehlen!

Sara Rider - Going for the Goal

Vorab möchte ich sagen, dass ich mich eigentlich von gelegentlichen Schreibfehlern in Büchern nicht stören lasse, das passiert den besten Autoren und Lektoren mal.
Doch ab einer gewissen Menge an Fehlern empfinde ich das irgendwann als störend.
Und hier war das so - anfangs habe ich noch nicht so sehr drauf geachtet, aber über je mehr Fehler ich gestolpert bin, desto bewusster habe ich sie dann irgendwann wahr genommen.
Das hat zum Ende hin meinem Lesevergnügen zwar keinen großen Abbruch getan, doch finde ich, dass sich jeder Autor für ein Lektorat zumindest etwas Zeit nehmen sollte…
Zur Geschichte selbst - die hatte eigentlich alles, was man sich von einer Lovestory wünscht.
Sie war romantisch, sexy, erotisch, ein bisschen Bad Boy hier, ein bisschen Good Girl da.
Die Klischees waren freilich vorhanden, aber keiner erwartet, dass das Rad neu erfunden wird.
Ich mochte die Charaktere - besonders Ben, der ja eigentlich nur eine Nebenrolle inne hat, habe ich schnell ins Herz geschlossen.
Was mich am Ende aber dazu bringt, einen Stern abzuziehen, ist die Tatsache, dass ich die 180 Grad Drehung von Nick nicht sonderlich realistisch fand - kein prügelnder Bad Boy wird in kürzester Zeit zum handzahmen Schmusehund, das war in meinen Augen zu viel zu schnell.

Zur Geschichte selbst - die hatte eigentlich alles, was man sich von einer Lovestory wünscht.
Sie war romantisch, sexy, erotisch, ein bisschen Bad Boy hier, ein bisschen Good Girl da.
Die Klischees waren freilich vorhanden, aber keiner erwartet, dass das Rad neu erfunden wird.
Ich mochte die Charaktere - besonders Ben, der ja eigentlich nur eine Nebenrolle inne hat, habe ich schnell ins Herz geschlossen.
Was mich am Ende aber dazu bringt, einen Stern abzuziehen, ist die Tatsache, dass ich die 180 Grad Drehung von Nick nicht sonderlich realistisch fand - kein prügelnder Bad Boy wird in kürzester Zeit zum handzahmen Schmusehund, das war in meinen Augen zu viel zu schnell.

Nick and Jillian were an interesting couple.
Their chemistry was great, full of heat, and their story was compelling. Most importantly, I believed them, their attraction, their reluctance to pursue it, their belief that they were doing the right thing staying professional, it all worked for me.
There were parts that I thought were a little drawn out, but nothing that detracted enough for me to put it down or even get frustrated with the story. I do wish a little more time had been spent with them as a couple and exploring that dynamic, but it wasn't bad...just something I would have liked to have seen for Nick and Jillian.
I liked the resolution of their story, and the place where they ended up after everything. I thought it felt real, authentic. A lot of times when there is a lot of drama, it is not balanced well. In this book, it really was with an ending that felt like it fit with the drama the characters were put through. I appreciated that it felt authentic.
I recommend this book.

Cover
Die Mischung aus der knalligen Schriftfarbe und dem grauen Hintergrund sorgt auf jeden Fall dafür, dass dieses Cover ins Auge fällt. Es wirkt nicht so aufdringlich und irgendwie angenehmer als so manches andere Cover in diesem Genre. Es mag vielleicht nicht das innovativste sein, aber ich finde des durchaus gelungen und auch ansprechend.
Meine Meinung
Jillian will unbedingt Fuß fassen und eine erfolgreiche Sportagentin werden. Ich mochte die Begründung dahinter sehr gerne und finde auch, dass Jillian durchaus eine starke Frau ist. Man merkt ihr deutlich an, dass sie kein kleines Mädchen mehr ist, sondern ein Ziel im Leben hat und dieses auch verfolgt. Nick dabei wieder zu treffen war nicht unbedingt ihr Plan und es passt ihr im Moment so überhaupt nicht. Einer ihrer Gegner ist gerade dabei, all ihre gute Arbeit zunichte zu machen und klaut ihr einen Sportler nach dem nächsten. Irgendwann bleibt ihr allerdings nichts mehr übrig, sie geht einen Vertrag mit Nick ein und verspricht ihm, seine Karriere zu retten.
Während ich Jillian für das Genre eigentlich als ganz angenehm empfand, hatte ich mit Nick wie zu erwarten meine Probleme. Manche würden ihn vielleicht einfach als dominanten Mann bezeichnen, ich fand ihn zuweilen aufdringlich und sehr anstrengend. Ich meine, natürlich hat er sie nach der Nacht nicht vergessen, aber andererseits hatte er wohl auch nie einen Grund sich noch einmal bei ihr zu melden. Mit ihm bin ich langfristig einfach nicht warm geworden, er war mir einfach nicht charmant genug, um ihm seine Fehler zu verzeihen.
Die Geschichte um die beiden herum fand ich zwar nicht direkt an den Haaren herbei gezogen, aber gegen Ende musste ich schon unverhältnismäßig oft die Augen verdrehen. Obwohl das Buch mich durchaus überraschen konnte, war es an dieser Stelle nicht immer etwas Positives. Manches erschien mir einfach zu übertrieben und die eigentlichen Probleme der Figuren hätten vollkommen ausgereicht, da hätte man kein extra Drama mehr gebraucht.
Den Schreibstil der Autorin fand ich durchaus angenehm. Die Geschichte liest sich schnell weg und ist auch mal was für zwischendurch, nicht sonderlich Anspruchsvoll, was aber ja auch mal gut sein kann. Das Setting hat sie für mich gut rüber gebracht und ich fand auch die Idee mit Jillian als eine der wenigen weiblichen Sportagenten wirklich toll, gerade weil das ja bekanntermaßen ein von Männern dominiertes Feld ist. Ich bin ja prinzipiell ein großer Fan von starken Frauen und der Ansatz hier hat mir echt gut gefallen.
Fun Fact am Rande: Eigentlich ist das hier der "dritte Teil einer Reihe". Da die Bände aber unabhängig voneinander gelesen werden können, scheint es nicht so schlimm zu sein, dass die ersten Beiden nicht auf deutsch erschienen sind. Aufgefallen ist mir das ganze auf Goodreads.
Von mir gibt es solide drei Monster für diese Geschichte. Sie hat mir durchaus gefallen, war aber kein Highlight. Vielleicht kann sie ja den einen oder anderen von euch begeistern.

She puts her money into things people see, clothes and fabulous shoes, rather than things they don't, her shabby rundown office. The hockey star hero just wants to fix her broken desk and help her anyway he can. What isn't to like?

A fresh spin on a hockey romance
I’ve been meaning to try this series for a while but never got around to it. Once the featured sport was hockey, I couldn’t put it off any longer. This can certainly be read as a standalone. Characters from the past two books appear as secondary characters, but each book features a new couple and I never felt lost or like I missed a big piece of the history. The writing was solid and the pacing brisk but thorough. I was engaged throughout the book, and found the couple and their romance really enjoyable.
I read a lot of sports romances, especially hockey-centric ones, so it’s always nice when an author takes a bit of a different angle. In Going for the Goal, the heroine is a female sports agent trying to create a name for herself in a man’s world and have her own company thrive while maintaining an ethical standard. I liked both the hero and heroine. They’re both brusque in many ways and challenge each other a lot. It made for some good banter and fast-paced dialogue. I always like when the heroine is a strong professional who can hold her own, and that’s exactly who Jillian is. I was even more pleased that it was the hero falling harder and pursuing the relationship in this romance. Not only did it fit with Jillian’s personality, but it made for a more interesting read. The brooding hero with the heart of gold tripped me up at first. In my opinion, that characteristic is overdone and feels like a silly cliché. However, I thought the author balanced Nick’s sweetness with a nice intensity. It never felt disingenuous and there was a sufficient history which provided insight into why he had those contrasting personality traits.
Nick and Jillian’s romance was both sweet and fiery. I liked the concept of a missed connection resurfacing. I also appreciated that the author let time pass over the course of the book. The jumps in time flowed cleanly, making the timeline believable and giving depth to the sports/professional aspects of the plot. I did wish there was more focus on the relationship and chemistry building between the two, but the connection felt solid and not solely fueled by lust. The conflicts facing the characters and couple were unique and kept me invested in their story. There were a few times I started to worry things were becoming too predictable or cookie cutter, but the author surprised me and took the plot in a different direction. Although the hockey specifics weren’t exceedingly thorough, there were enough details to keep me- an avid hockey fan- satisfied. I really liked the sports agent aspect, especially the behind the scenes strategizing Jillian did for her clients. Not only did we get to see Jillian in her environment, but it also kept things really interesting on the romance and personal levels.
Going for the Goal was a good hockey book with a sweet, but smart romance. The characters were well developed and likable, the pacing perfect, and there were enough surprises keeping things fresh. I’ll definitely be going back and reading the other two books from this series and following the author’s future works.

Can we talk about how much I love this book. Hockey, sexy men with a sweet side, and a go getter female it was my trifecta. How did I not know people wrote books about hockey and romance… together?
This book was sexy, sweet and funny. I was in full blown laughter several times. If an author can make me laugh and spin a story that has steam and interest, I’m hooked. Sara Rider has me caught that’s for certain.
Jillian Nichols is a sports agent intern when we meet her for the first time at a party where she’s attempting to get a young sport star to sign with the agency she’s working for. Nick Salinger, known as “the Punisher”, is the NHL’s bad boy with a penchant for messing hot headed situations he settles with all 220 pounds of his 6 foot three frame. When the two run into each other at the party Jillian’s attending for work sparks fly and lips briefly meet, but she quickly disappears when the man she’s spent the past hour bearing her brain to turns out to be a famous hockey player she should be avoiding.
Years later, despite following the career of the Enforcer to his stardom with the New York Vipers she’s flabbergasted when the man walks into her sports agency demanding she represent him. Of course, no one is more surprised than the man in question when the small time agent turns him down and sends him packing with a stab in the thigh with her paperweight. What follows is a little bit of begging, a lot of heat and liberal dose of laughter as Jillian does her best to rebrand, rework, and reexamine everything she knows about this “alpha-hole hockey star” and as he does his best to comply with the strict mandates his sexy agent, who he can’t get enough of, sets for him. Toss in some dissolving contracts, another bad boy hockey star who’s all about himself no matter who he injures, and a loveable brother who bakes “famous vanilla rum French toast with peaches and whipped cream” and you have the perfect story to satisfy all your sexy hockey dreams.
I’ll be raving about this to all my hockey fan friends, even the guys who will surely roll their eyes at me.

I hope there are more hockey related stories in this author’s future because I’m down for all things in that particular category even if that does rank somewhere within the “Puck Bunny” ranks.

It's charming and amusing exchanges like that ^^, that make Going for the Goal so much fun to read. Sweet, light and flirty, I was pleasantly surprised by this book—my first by author Sara Rider.
Nick and Jillian are lovable from their first meeting, a banter-filled flirt-fest that set the scene for their second meeting years later. And their chemistry? Electric. Simply, this couple is one that is easy to root for. I wanted them together so much, and I really fell for Nick—hockey star in need of a PR makeover and a new agent. He was sweet and kind and sexy, and ahhh, his relationship with his brother was one of my absolute favorite things about this book.
Jillian was a slighter tougher nut to crack for me. While I loved her drive, her ethics and her hard-edged approach—how she proved she could play with the ‘big boys’—I faltered a little over some of her decisions. In particular, one toward the end that is a trope of which I am not much a fan.
Having said that, I was incredibly happy with how this book played out. It maybe glossed over a couple of things that I felt deserved a bit more attention, but on the whole, Going for the Hosl was an incredibly fun, engaging and sexy romance. And certainly not my last by this new-to-me-but-not-for-long author.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Jillian was just the kind of strong, driven woman I want to read about in romance novels. Nick had a good heart. I liked the two of them together. I didn't love the conflict near the end of the book because blackmail(ish) plotlines drive me batty. But, I didn't dislike it enough for it to take me out of the story. All in all, a really good sports romance with a good mix of sweet and sexy.

Jillian und Nick besitzen sehr interessante Charaktereigenschaften,
die es mir leicht machten, die Protagonisten zu mögen.
Während Jillian als Frau mit ihrer Leidenschaft für ihren Job in einer Männerdomäne überzeugt,
besitzt der zunächst recht oberflächliche Hockeyspieler
mehr Tiefe als erwartet.
Die verzweifelte Sehnsucht sich zu beweisen
und der Drang, alle zu beschützen, prallen aufeinander.
Gemischt mit einer starken Anziehung und der Gefahr in der Öffentlichkeit ertappt zu werden.
Eine aufregende Mischung.
Obwohl ich die erste Begegnung wirklich sehr unterhaltsam und die Anziehung der Charaktere hier als deutlich spürbar empfand,
konnte mich die Story nicht durchweg fesseln.
Immer wieder gab es Momente in denen Jillian und Nick
für unterhaltsame Dialoge und knisternde Szenen sorgten.
Trotzdem war es mir manchmal zu zu viel
des Hin und Her aus Anziehung und Verlangen
sowie der Angst entdeckt zu werden.
Während Nick immer mehr von seinem Bad Boy Charme verlor
und sich stattdessen zum liebenswürdigen Mann wandelt,
fehlte mir bei Jillian der Biss sich durchzusetzen.
Und statt miteinander, handelte jeder eigenmächtig
und die auf teilweise denkwürdige Art und Weise …
Obwohl ich Nick und Jillian auf den ersten Blick interessant fand,
konnten sie mich im Verlauf nicht hundertprozentig überzeugen und fesseln.
Eine ansonsten schöne Liebesgeschichte, der nur noch das ganz besondere etwas fehlte …

‘Going For The Goal’ by Sara Rider is the third book in ‘The Perfect Play’ series but is a standalone that you can pick up without having to have read the first two books. The first two books can still be read after this one as there is nothing in this that would spoil any enjoyment or story from them. For me Sara Rider has produced another well written and entertaining sports based romance, 5 stars.
Jillian Nichols is a sports agent who is struggling to be taken seriously as she is doing an internship for someone who feels that she should be using her body as a way to get clients. It’s bad enough that she is trying to establish herself in a misogynistic world of sports agents but being out right told to use her body may be that step too far.
Having one of the worst nights at a party she has attended to try and get a new client she finds herself locked out of it and stranded on the fire escape with a tall handsome stranger. For Jillian there is an instant connection to the guy and her night turns out to be quite enjoyable spending time chatting and debating all things sports and what is wrong and right in the word. When the door is opened and they get into the party her time with the stranger is over and she realises just who he is and after he gets involved in a fight she leaves.
Nick ‘The Punisher’ Salinger is a hockey god to many but his style of play and behaviour off the ice has led to some changes for him and his team. After firing his agent he goes in search of the woman who has haunted his dreams for years since the missed opportunity with her many years ago. Determined to have Jillian as his agent he goes all out to get her to give him a chance but things start to get blurry as both of them struggle to keep it purely professional.
Like the other books before this I really enjoyed the banter and bonds that the characters have. Sara manages to write well rounded enjoyable characters that you wouldn’t mind being friends with if nothing else. She is obviously a sports fan and that shows in the writing and characters. There is always more going in the background and there is always a great supporting cast that you get to know too which only has you hoping and guessing if there will be another book and who it could be about. There is plenty of spark and connection between Nick and Jillian that serves to keep you entertained. Another great book by Sara Rider that I would happily recommend.

Meine Meinung:
Jillian ist eine Sportagentin, die versucht sich im Männer Business einen Namen zu machen. Was gar nicht so leicht ist. Da ihr immer wieder Steine in den Weg gelegt werden von ihrem alten Boss. Doch plötzlich passiert was Unerwartetes. Nick Salinger aka „The Punisher“ kommt in ihr Büro und bittet sie um Hilfe.
Charaktere:
Jillian ist die Starke und taffe Frau, die sich von nichts unterkriegen lässt und genau weiß was sie will. Sie ist eine sehr starke Persönlichkeit. Aber das brauch sie auch um in dieser Männerdomain zu überleben.
Nick ist ein totaler Draufgänger und nimmt sich, was/wenn er will. Er ist sehr dominant und hartnäckig in dem was er tut. Halt der gutaussehende Badboy.
Die Charaktere haben nicht sonderlich viel Tiefgang. Aber ich finde das brauchen sie auch nicht unbedingt. Die beiden Hauptprotagonisten harmonieren wunderbar miteinander.
Die Geschichte der beiden hat mir sehr gut gefallen. An einigen stellen habe ich ein wenig mit dem Kopf geschüttelt, aber gestört hat es mich nicht. Die Romanze zwischen den beiden prickelte von Anfang an. Man konnte das knistern förmlich spüren.
Den Schreibstil der Autorin fand ich sehr angenehm zu lesen. Es war flüssig und spannend. Perfekt für zwischendurch. Ich habe es in eins weggelesen und wurde trotz der vorhersehbaren Handlung gut unterhalten. Das Thema Agentin und Sportass ist nun nicht ganz neu. Aber ich fand, die Autorin hat das ganze sehr gut umgesetzt.

Going For The Goal, is the third title in the Perfect Play Series, but can be read as a standalone. Told in a dual point of view, this story revolves around Jillian Nichols and Nick Salinger.
This pair of characters are complex, and have much in common they are both extremely stubborn, hard headed and neither likes to give in. Nick is an NHL enforcer, and Jillian is a sports agent, they are both incredibly hard working, driven and love their roles within sport, even with the challenges they face.
The love scenes between this pair are hot and steamy yet quite intimate and intense. Their chemistry is intense and the sparks fly with this pair both between the sheets and outside the bedroom.
This story has elements of a second chance romance, and also a forbidden romance due to their chosen career paths.
Both these characters are quite realistic and like-able, their faults and all, and their shared dynamic is quite intriguing. Nick is a brooding, alpha hero, who has a hidden heart of gold, and when this tough hero shows his moments of sweetness, it's completely swoon worthy.
I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between this pair, it's both fun and flirty.
Overall Going For The Goal, is a fun, engaging and entertaining sports romance. I thoroughly recommend this book to lovers of the sports romance genre or contemporary romance.

In Sara Rider's Going for the Goal, the first installment in The Perfect Play hockey sports romance series, this novel scores on all levels and across the board on and off the ice. Jillian Nichols first met Nick Salinger, when she was a sports agent intern. Fast forward to a decade later, she now runs her own sports management agency and trying to make a name out for herself in the sports world. When Nick "the Punisher" Salinger needs a new agent, he remembers Jillian and asks her to sign him up. Hesitantly, she agrees to start a professional business relationship with him. While she helped him to control his temper, stay out of trouble, and maintain his sports image, the heat between them is sparking red hot, when they date and get to know each other better! As Jillian wants to be nominated for ASLMA as president, she dealt with a lot of interference from her former mentor and rival, who's a bit of a prick, and had poached her clients. When she was disqualified for the running of the board, due to ethical reasons, Nick has his own issues with his fellow team mate Sebastian Liakos, a hot head who likes to causing trouble amongst the team. He also would love to let his team win the Stanley Cup if Liakos didn't get in the way. Together, they've figured out a way to settle the score and get a happy ending to get what they want in the end... with each other.

This story was all about Jillian and Nick – the way they connected and ‘saw’ each other. That way was all about brutal honesty and witty dialogue. About melting glances and an attraction that was physical and spiritual. And all of it was weaved into a romance that had me smiling and nervous right from the start.
From their first clandestine ‘meeting’ these characters spoke to me. Their struggles and the way they approached it all was refreshingly real. They made me laugh. I understood, their struggles (or variations of them) were mine. No, I absolutely have no idea what an NHL player’s life is really like. Or what a female agent was faced with in a man-dominated field. After this read though I have a greater appreciation for it all and I enjoyed every moment of that learning…

This is book 3 in a series of standalones in The Perfect Play series. You don't need to read the others to love this book, but I bet you'll want to read the others are this! If you like hockey romances like I do, you'll love this series. The chemistry between Jillian and Nich has to be one of my favorites. Their story is unqiue and had me loving it from page one. You aren't sure at first if you want to like Nick because of his attitude, but the more I read the book the more I loved him. Jillian has always wanted to be a sports agent and Nick wants her to his agent. What they weren't expecting was their chemistry and Jillian's firm rule of never dating clients. Watching these two navigate life, careers and their relationship is one of my favorite aspects of this book.

Jillian Nichols is a sports agent who takes on the clients that most don't feel are worthy, yet she does. Being in a male dominated field is difficult enough, now Nick Salinger aka the Punisher of NYC hockey wants her to rep him. Nick is amazing nice guy who deserves more then his team is willing to give, problem is no one sees that side of him. Jillian has a huge crush on Nick, since a chance meeting almost ten years ago. Can Nick and Jillian work through their own issues to find love?

I liked some aspects of this book a lot, smart, independent sports agent Gillian gets shit done. Gets a second chance at love with Nick, a hockey player she first met 9 years ago. Nick was good hero, he wanted to be kind and loving and a partner. One of the things that really distracted me was a blackmail-ish plot by a side character. That is one of my least favorite types of conflict ever and it almost made me DNF the book. I stuck through and I did like how everything turned out.

I have read and enjoyed all of Sara Rider's books and while this was not my favorite by her I still quite enjoyed it. I like how past characters are present in her books without taking over the story. Her writing style is one I like but it's her characters that really shine for me.

I liked Jillian and how dedicated she was in Going For the Goal. I also liked her relationship with Nick. I also enjoyed Nick’s fraternité with Ben and his friendships with Mike and Luke. I am curious if there will be any books regarding some of the minor characters.
