A beautiful woman is locked in my bunker.

She stirs in me something I thought I'd long ago snuffed out: desire.

I murdered her abductor, but I'm no hero. I'm the monster they call the Angel of Death, yet she makes me feel like a man again. My hidden little secret in the cellar is a prize I won't be throwing away.

Her luscious lips and sweet curves promise that hiding from the mafia just got a lot more exciting.

I'm not going anywhere. And neither is she.

No. Just no.

After reading this book, I just realized that time has come that I face reality. I have been incredibly spoiled these past week with reading ACoTAR series (which is fucking awesome might I add) that it almost makes me forget that poorly written books exists. But nope, this book slapped me back into reality and here I am.

description

To start off, the writing isn't bad. It was good actually, but the plot could use a little bit more "umph" to it as it feels very predictable and very bland and just blah, in general.

The hero, Sal, was okay. You know, the usual contract killer. Dark, broody, mysterious, sexy, all that good stuff. He's there, he does his thing, shoot some people, kick some ass, plays his role, and there's that. I have no problem with him.

The problem you see, is the heroine. I would be inclined to say she is naive, but I don't know, sometimes it feels like she is more dumb than she is naive (?). So this girl was abducted by some pervert old man and was locked inside a bunker for weeks. And when the hero came to free her, this is how she reacts :

“Do you want to go to the police station?” he asks, his tone tense. He doesn’t want me to say yes.
And surprisingly, I don’t want to say yes. I don’t want to go.
Not now.
Not yet.
Maybe not ever.

Girly, he doesn't want you to say yes cause he's a contract killer in the hiding and if you escapes then he will run into some big, big trouble. But of course, silly me. Why want to leave and go back to your life after you have some hot stranger just come out of nowhere and let you out of your confinement right?

And then they proceed to go through their day; or at least the hero did, while the heroine did this :

“I follow after him.
Over the course of the day, I continue to follow him, afraid to let him out of my sight for even a moment.”

description

I mean, why not just follow the guy everywhere like a lost puppy, you know? Why even bother to check her surroundings like any sane person would and find some way to escape and get help? But then again, we have established from earlier that this girl might have lost some brain cells while she was abducted so I guess, can't blame her too much for that eh?

And then, at the end of the day, she sleeps. And guess what she dreams about?

“My eyes draw closed, and sleep claims me. I find myself back in my old bed, my little studio apartment that I’ve longed for during these long weeks.
It smells like home.

But it also smells like Sal. Just like that, he appears, his eyes sparkling as he looks at me, his mouth moving against the hollow of my neck. It’s a place that’s never been explored, and my entire body feels electric.

I moan, my fingers going through his hair, my body starting to writhe against his in explicit pleasure. “Sal,” I whimper to him, and he looks at me with such affection.

description

And then this happens on the second day:

“For once, I’m going to go for what I actually want. Trying to avoid danger has never saved me from it. So maybe taking a risk, and accepting fate’s gift is what I need to heal.
Suddenly, I need to be near him. It’s like a magnetic pull. ”

And this :

“It’s almost as though he can read my thoughts, see that desire churning in my body, and I draw in my lower lip nervously. For a second, I think he’s going to kiss me, and my heart races in anticipation. I let my lower lip go, glistening from my mouth, trying to tempt him to do just that.”

And this :

“But every time I think about leaving, I feel this twinge of fear. This longing for something. No, someone. I don’t know if it is just my extreme loneliness or disorientation at being suddenly freed after weeks underground, but I just can’t bear the thought of leaving Sal. ”

“The man who saved me from the sickest fates imaginable. It’s like a fairytale, isn’t it?”

“I can’t wait to be close to him again. I need him. Desperately.”

description

A++ Character development right here ladies and gents.

Needless to say, while this one had not been a good read, at least I get a good laugh out of it. So there's that.

“If I were smart, I would figure out a way to escape, to return to the real world and try and get my life back on track. Shouldn’t I?”

Oh bollocks, I don't know, should you?

"Alexis Abbott is never chase to amaze me with the surreal stories she is delivering. The angst and adrenaline rush combined with the hedonistic moments the heroes are entangling with each other earned my full attention until the end of the story."

"I received a complimentary copy of this book and have volunteered to leave a review."

Grabbing Abducted is the fastest decision I ever make. While in the middle of a loaded with ARCs month, I couldn't leave out Alexis Abbott request to read Abducted. And damn I couldn't feel happier!

Abducted is the kind of story that while I'm not keen to live a situation like this (who is it actually?) it appeals to my reading tastes. Danger, agony, adrenaline and animalistic passion have always had the ability to intrigue my attention.

From the beginning, it is clear that Abducted is one rough story. The scenes that take place are covering all kinds of horrible acts an abduction could cause. What I am most greatful about Abducted tho is that the author while she is open to deliver an intense story, is fast forward and to the point not messing with unnecessary topics.

The abduction of Eva's in the middle of the night and after that, the days she has been a prisoner to a sadistic man are so much close to reality that my lungs and heart were hurted hard for her. Eva's actions and thoughts couldn't have been more humanly common with any other abducted victim. However, she can't afford to actually be one of them. When, days became weeks Eva has started to lose her faith. Then, her door finally opens revealing the presence of an unknown man. A savor who has his own dark secrets and who is keeping her hidden from the outside world, even if she wants to or not.

Salvatore is called "The angel of death" and that name couldn't be far from the truth. He is an assassin and now he has a huge target on his face after the night he took the lives of the most powerful men in New York. Mafia men! For some crazy purpose, only fate may knows, Sal has bought the house Eva was captured, killed the owner of the house, the one who took her, for some other reasons than the abduction and he started to renovate it. After Sal unexpectedly found out about Eva and rescued her from the prison she was into, he didn't have a clue about what to do with her. Only that he couldn't afford to let her go away.

What is meant to happen after the first chapters of Abducted is to be gripping, raw and unexpected. The story unfolds with Eva and Sal getting closer to each other despite the secrets that hang between them. Until everything brought up to light. The author delivers an incredible well written dark romance, with lots of erotica scenes to feel hot and bothered. She created two incredible characters.. Eva oozes confident, strength and hope whereas Salvatore oozes danger, dominance and death. What I still can't fathom properly is the end the author wanted to give them. It is truly unexpected, feels too forced to me but this is only my opinion.

I hope I intrigued your imagination a little and make you grab the book, finding out what's really happening because there is no way to tell you myself.

Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.

This was a surprise FIVE MEGA MAFIA STARS read. Mafia and dark romance are my absolute
favorite Romance subgenre and Abducted definitely hit the mafia deliciousness mark for me.

Salvatore Angelo, known as the Angel of Death, and Eva are a match made in heaven. The whole time you can't help but admire Sal's depth and his actions towards Eva. He is oh so alpha.

I think this was my first ever read by this author and I will definitely be binging...Mafia men, alpha sexiness, and suspense included in the romance package..What more could I ask for!

That was a dark romantic story, I really liked both Sal and Eva, they were both well rounded characters. They found each other by co-incidence, in that Eva happened to be kept in the basement of the house Sal had just bought.

Eva, was taken by a sadistic man, and as we got to know more about her and Sal, we also get the back story as to her abduction.

Sal (Salvatore), I actually really liked him, OK his career path was not a very nice one, but I loved how he had a conscience and followed his own set of rules.

It was an unfortunate situation that they found themselves in, but they made the best of the situation with both of them trying to keep their distance.

I loved that Sal protected Eva at whatever cost, even though he knew it could lead to dreadful consequences.

They brought out the best in each other, and when they worked together they were a formidable team. Great on their own, but amazing together.

I loved Eva's independence she brought Sal's hardness levels down.

Their connection was almost immediate and you could have been mistaken for this to be like Stockholm syndrome, but their chemistry was electric. Their sexcapades - oh my - hotness overload! Not good on a long car journey!

This was a thrilling and exciting read, full of danger and suspense, coupled with a very sexy couple. It was a great read.

Touching, Persevering and Exhilarating Read!!!

This story starts with a bang, as Eva is walking to the bus station after a late shift at work and is followed by a large man. That man grabs her and she awakens in an impenetrable prison, scarily including a door with marks from previous inhabitants.

Sal, also known as the Angel of Death, has a strict rule against hurting women and children. He “resigns” from the mafia by removing those who did not share his values, and buying a fixer-upper in the country to lay low. A fixer-upper happened to belong to his last victim. Imagine his surprise when he discovers a bunker with a beautiful woman in the back yard.

The results of weeks of solitary, a prior bad experience with police, and the need to recover have Eva staying with Sal. Sal assures her it is not safe to leave and promises to protect her. When it turns out that her abduction may not be as random as thought the tension level rises yet again.

Two people who have little or no relationship with others find one another in an emotional circumstance which brings them closer in every way. Ms. Abbott once again creates the perfect “bad boy” who treats this particular lady just how she needs after her harrowing experience. Emotional, Tension-filled story which will keep you on the edge of your seat and cheering for these very special characters. I highly recommend this story!!

I quite enjoyed this book about Sal and Eva. It doesn't have the angst of some mafia stories but enough to keep it interesting.

Action and plenty of erotic steam...3.5 stars!

Alexis Abbott does mafia stories with grit and action all rolled up in steamy goodness. It has a hero and heroine you want to cheer for because of their pasts.

I liked Sal’s character, he was the quintessential badass assassin who finally realizes the mafia bosses he works for are the scum of the earth for luring unsuspecting and desperate young men and women trapping them to the mafia underbelly. His guilty conscience eventually drives his decision to withdraw from the life by retiring “mafia” style which leads to discovering Eva when he goes on the lamb.

Eva is abducted and imprisoned by her kidnapper, but Sal stumbles on her by accident when he deals with her repugnant kidnapper. The story unfolds from there and we learn Eva’s abduction is not random at all. Although she is portrayed as a strong heroine by character and behavior, there is redundant use of the word “broken” in describing Eva. Okay, she is weepy most of the time, but the girl has moxy.

Abducted does live up to the action and erotic scenes, but I had to take some stars off for word redundancy and plot holes that left me shaking my head. The part about her father’s illness and the demise of her half-brother are glossed over without explanation and no closure. Still, I look forward to Ms. Abbott’s books. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

What are the chances of you buying a house and inheriting a hostage?

Salvatore Angelo, known as the Angel of Death, is a hitman working for the Mafia.
Meticulous as he was, he did all the planning to take the house of another murderer. He buys it and then kills his former owner.
But he discovers that the house, besides needing a good and long reformation, had a very well-kept surveillance room, and through the cameras, he saw that there was a woman arrested.

Eva Wells was kidnapped after her shift at the sports bar at dawn.
She lost track of time, does not know who kidnapped her or why.
Until a captor, not the same one, takes her out of the bunker and lets her become part of his life.

Both are in the dark of why Eva was there, but gradually the truth comes to the surface, and in the meantime, the couple gets more and more intimate.

As the reader only discovers the real reason for Eve's abduction almost at the end of the book, the reason may even be plausible, but by the description, Eva did not stay so long prey to behave the way she did after leaving the bunker.
I found the female character boring and the romance has no chemistry.

Salvatore is an interesting character, the plot could be more engaging.

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline was exciting and entertaining, and I loved Sal and Eva. This story was full of action, suspense, drama, and romance. My only niggle is that there were quite a few spelling errors. Otherwise a fantastic read!

Abducted is a captivating story with twists and turns that will hold your interest to the very end!

Eva is all alone in the world. Her mother passed away five years ago and her wealthy father never acknowledge them after his one-night stand with her mother. Eva works two jobs just to make ends meet, so she can have a place of her own. One night after working at her second job she must walk to the bus stop to get home. She realizes that a man is following her and she begins to walk faster, but as she gets close to her bus stop she sees the bus pulling away because it must have come a few minutes early. She runs trying to catch the bus drivers attention but to no avail. Then she realizes that the man that was following her is closer so she kicks off her shoes and runs. Unfortunately after trying to find a place to hide she steps on some glass and ends up ducking behind a dumpster. The man following her finds her and puts a cloth over her nose and mouth until she passes out. The only other thing she remembers when she wakes up in an unfamiliar basement is her captor telling her he would be back when she was ready for him. That was probably a few weeks ago, she's not sure since there are no windows she doesn't really know how long she's been there. With only canned food, water and a bathroom she is truly starting to go a little bit mad because she's been without any kind of contact for so long.

Salvatore aka Sal is a hitman for the Mafia, but he has decided that he doesn't like the way things are being done anymore. He decides to kill his boss and some of the other guys that are the really bad apples. His last kill brings him to a cabin that is pretty secluded and he kills the sick twisted older man that lives there and Sal plans to turn it into his safe house. After a few days he checks the shed that's out back and finds all kinds of computer monitors and then realizes that there is a woman trapped down below the shed. Sal goes to see who it is and finds Eva there. Neither of them knows what to make of the other, but Sal knows that no matter how beautiful he may find her he cannot let her go to the police.

So in trying to find a way to keep her there, but not make her feel like a captive he brings her to the cabin and treats her like a human being again. Grab this absolutely wonderful book to find out what happens when these two try to coexist and realize their lives are more intertwined than even they realized. With all the twists and turns you will be captivated and dying to reach the end to find out what happens. All I can say is its a hell of a ride and an excellent story with wonderful characters. You definitely want to read this book!!!

5 ABDUCTED stars! Let the Angel of Death stole your heart. This is a must read.

“I’m not a good man,” I say. “I don’t care,” she gasps. “I want you to ruin me.”

Abducted by Alexis Abbott is the kind of book that reminded me why I love Dark Romance. This is the first book I read from this author and I really loved it. Her writing is brutally steamy and deliciously dark.

The plot is twisted and addictive. The characters are complex and strong. Each page had me at the edge of a heart attack. One of the reasons why I enjoyed it so much is because of the fierce feelings and the well developed story line.

Some men are powerful and easily seduced by money. And when something interferes with their business they hire someone to deal with it. Money consumes their souls. But they should be careful with any evidence left.

To be a hitman is hard. You can't trust anyone. You don't have social life and your only friends are your weapons and your mind.

“I bought this house. Everything in it is mine. Including Eva.”

Salvatore is a clear example of a success of a hitman. He has cold blood and his motto is to never hurt women and children unlike the others. He is the Angel of Death (a sexy one). And his life will change because of a real angel who he will protect.

“Who is this angel I’ve found down here in the bowels of hell? And what am I going to do with her now that she’s seen my face?”

In a dark street a girl will be abducted. Her sadistic captor will play with her mind until she is freed by a handsome and dangerous man. Her soul was damaged but she feels safe with Salvatore, her saviour.

Eva is the definition of a strong woman. She is pure and naive. Salvatore is a cold hitman but he has a soul. He is afraid to ruin the woman who has really seen him. The attraction between them is too intense that it can't be denied. They will fall into the temptation.

“His eyes strike deep inside my soul, deeper than his cook, and it gives me a high I have never know before.”

This is a steamy, mind-blowing, deep and stunning book. The sex scenes made me blush like a teenager. They were raw and dirty.

Prepare yourself for one of the most amazing books. It is full of blood, lust, power, killers, and mafia men; all wrapped in an action-packed story. (And do not forget the raw romance between the Angel of Death and a naive Damsel).

“I truly am making love to an angel, and I’m blissfully ruining her.”

I highly recommend this book. I literally devoured it. I couldn't put it down. Salvatore has stolen my heart. Let him be your next book boyfriend.

I have never been disappointed by an Alexis Abbott story, and this is no exception. I LOVED this story. This was the ultimate stalker turned darker romance. It is slightly dark in a suspense filled atmospheric way.

As with all of this authors stories this was filled with romance, action, twists, turns, bold dialogue, steamy scenes, and well developed and mature characters. Eva and Salvatore are well build characters that have reasons for their choices, but are written in a way that makes them relateable and genuine. I am so tired of weak or immature characters, ones who do not communicate, or blame their decisions on others. Alexis writes her characters strong, and willing to take responsibilities for their actions and choices, it is beyond refreshing! I loved Salvatore, he is an amazing anti-hero, and Eva is strong and brilliant, determined and bold. Together they are perfection!

I loved the details that were worked into how they become who they were and the choices hat they made. The plot was full of adventure and fright. The reader can feel the tension and passion between these characters and it makes me root for them that much harder.

Alexis has the ability to pull any reader into the story to the point of feeling like you are running down the street with Eve, that you what to take those chances with Salvatore. I don’t want to give too much away because Alexis stories are best experienced by the reader without any outside influence.

This is a story that I want turned into Hollywood movies the most. It was so detailed, and heart pounding that I can just see it on the big screen. This author is an automatic one-click for me because I know that I am guaranteed an amazing story that will fill me with excitement and adventure and will stay with me for weeks. Please consider this story if you are on the fence, it has the perfect balance and is worth every minutes away from reality!

This is not my normal genre of choice, but when I can get a free or cheap book, I'm willing to try it. This is a dark romance type filled with a lot of murder.

Summary...*Contains spoiler details*
Bad guy, Sal, a hitman known as "The Angel of Death," has just quit the business by killing off all his mafia bosses. Now he's in hiding trying to live the "quiet life" of retirement. But the farmhouse he bought to renovate just came with a surprise. Out in the shed, there's a room filled with surveillance equipment all monitoring a single room in a fallout shelter. When he investigates the room, he finds Eva. She was kidnapped by the previous farmhouse owner, Mink, who was a filthy pervert and former hitman. Sal feels bad he didn't know about Eva before he killed Mink because he would gladly have made Mink suffer more before killing him.

As the two become better acquainted, they realize that even though their lives have previously sucked, they can have a good future together. Finding out that Eva was supposed to be killed by Mink, they also discover it's her half-brother who ordered the hit. Now they have to stop him so they can have a future together.

It's not the greatest book I've read in this genre, but it is far from the worst. This book had a good plot and most of the bad guys got what was coming to them. I like that type of justice! But when the bad guy is actually viewed as the good guy, I tend to have issues with it. I am however all about second chances.

Alexis Abbott knows how to write a book that has action, some suspense, danger, steam, mafia men and strong woman. This one about Sal, a hitman who “retires” from his profession because he doesn’t agree with the bosses anymore. He goes on a spree and then plans to lay low, disappearing so he can be alone. He buys a house out in the middle of nowhere and eliminates the owner, a man who even the mafia doesn’t want to deal with anymore with his twisted and sick urges towards women and children. Sal doesn’t realize that the man has already acquired his next victim that he’s holding prisoner, Eva. When he discovers her, she is wary of him but soon discovers that he had nothing to do with it but she can’t leave and go to the police as there is more to her kidnaping that they soon discover and Sal vows to protect her no matter what.
An amazing steamy oh my steamy read with a hot hitman and a strong smart woman. What I love about these reads from this author is the characters are open and honest and they stick by each each other no matter what. There are some tense situations between them but they work it out, they don’t run from each other and face their feelings and situation head on....love love love that. Sal and Eva also show their vulnerabilities and don’t shy away from them nor do they shy away from what’s happening between and all around them.

This another wonderful Mafia story by Alexis! This story is about Eva and Sal whose lives connect in an unbelievable way. Neither has had an easy life to this point. Eva has been on her own with no family working two jobs and going to nursing school. One night after her late shift she walks to the bus stop alone and realizes a stranger is following her and ends up taking her. What he did to Eva is beyond words. Sal is the Angel of Death for the mob and he has just taken out all his associates and is on the run to a safe house. Sal gets to his safe house which he bought out from the previous owner unknown to him and takes him out. Several days later he finds Eva hidden in an underground bunker and once they make contact there is an unbreakabke bond. They learn to trust one another and after some time Sal realizes he has feelings for Eva. When Eva constantly ask questions of Sal he never gets angry knowing she needs human contact and end up becoming more than what’s on the surface. Eva proves she is tough and keeps moving on from all the bad luck she has. Sal ends up discovering a plot where their lives are interconnected and he promises to end it to keep Eva safe! Will Sal be able to protect Eva or will the evil plans of her step brother take them both down? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

After her mother passed away Eva was left to fend for herself as her father was never part of her life. She has struggled for everything she has and was on her way home from work when she realized she was being followed. After a chase she is abducted and wakes up in a room with no windows. The treatment by her captor was horrendous and she lost track of time and was losing her will to survive when the door opened and it wasn’t her captor but her rescuer.

Sal is a hitman for the mafia and he has slowly but surely been working his own agenda to clean the mafia of the depraved individuals that hurt children and women. He ends up a cabin where Eva’s captor lived and ensured that he would never hurt another person but he never expected to find Eva huddled in the shed.

Sal isn’t sure what to do with her but he knows he needs to help her recover and he knows the police is not an option. They are both damaged by their pasts but they have a connection that is all compassing however when danger surrounds them will they escape with their lives?

I loved these characters as Sal was so protective and understanding while Eva is a survivor and not a victim. Their journey is filled with suspense, twists, healing and a deep love that can overcome anything. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

>Book Review – Abducted
>I am an independent reviewer. This is a standalone romantic suspense and ends with an HEA. Sal is a retired mafia hitman with a plan to start over. He takes over a house and finds a woman trapped in a bunker by the former owner of the house. Eva was kidnapped and held in a bunker for weeks. A man rescues her and due to her PTSD from being in solitary for so long, she can’t seem to leave him. Sal doesn’t let Eva know his former occupation and doesn’t want her to leave him either. Some of the descriptions were quite vivid, especially the wood shipper scene.
>I have to just accept that Eva’s behavior would be one that could be typical. She is alone in life and her attraction to Sal is better than being alone, I guess. I did find it odd that she didn’t want to at least let her employers or her landlord know she was okay. The danger to Eva later on is fairly obvious, but the way Sal goes all alpha hitman to protect Eva is really romantic, in a violently romantic way.
> The book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. I loved the ending and the HEA. This couple was fun to get to know. I could see other situations coming their way that could fuel other books!

****I voluntarily received an Advance Review Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review****
Eva Wells and Salvatore Angelo had two things in common: they didn’t have any immediate family and they’re loners. Salvatore is called the “ Angel of death” because he is a hit man for the mafia and had just kill a mafia clan. His next move was to hideout till the heats wears off in his newly purchased home just outside of Rochester. Unbeknownst to him he kills his previous land owner and associate, Mink’s and discovers his secret.
Eva Wells works as a daycare worker during the week, attends nursing classes at night and works at a sports bar on the weekends. On her way home one night, she is abducted and held in a shed on Sal newly purchased land.
The storyline was intense with intriguing twists and turns which was hard to put the book down. There is constant danger present with Eva and Sal’s whereabouts hidden because a lot was at stake with new found reason about her being abducted. The challenges they faced will be tough but nothing Sal couldn’t handle. I loved how Sal was so protective of Eva. A must read!

Excellent Read!

Let's talk about Alexis Abbott's Hittman- swoon city! I have yet to read one of her mob books that I have not been head over heels for that fictional goodness of a wicked man no matter what he was up too!
Oh My ---- This book though, what happened here is a spectacular case of darkness and evil meets with a white-hot intensity that'll melt you into a puddle of lustful goodness and a humorous clumsy romance clash in the midst of suspenseful plot twists. It had me so caught up in the storyline I almost forgot to pick up my daughter from school. (ALMOST-- keyword)

It was not hard to get lost in this free-flowing, fast mover, so much goes and the sizzling connection between Sal and Eva.
I love stories where the h is smart and resilient and can bring someone like the "Angel Of Death" to his knee's that is enough to have me cheering them along as they battle the demons that brought them together.

I had to see what was going to happen between them!
I have to say, was not what I anticipated, but ended up an exceptionally refreshing, adventurous and sensuous read I could not have loved more if I tried!

5 massive stars from me!

I loved this book and in my opinion it's worth reading. If you have read Alexis Abbott's book Captive to the Hitman, Abducted has some similarities but Alexis Abbott did throw a twist in. Alexis Abbott grabbed my attention from the start and kept it through to the end. In my opinion the prologue was very intense. I liked Sal he is an ex mafia hitman. He has decided to burn that bridge and lay low. Sal is gruff, intense and serious, yet likable. Eva has been through a horrific ordeal and seems broken. Eva is broken yet when she needed to stand up for herself, she does. Eva does come across as needy and has had a hard life. I thought Alexis Abbott did a good job of portraying both characters and I could feel everything they were feeling. I felt Alexis Abbott missed out on the mafia angle looking for Sal, but maybe as an author felt that would be too much. Overall I loved this story. If you like the mafia hitman story then I would recommend. I was given an ARC edition for my honest and voluntary review.

I love this author. I especially love a darker story where the moral lines are fuzzy and grey while still making perfect sense and this book is that. We don’t have to understand them completely to accept that their reality is beyond average comprehension. The start of this book had my heart thumping and my eyes fevered for the next page. Sal was broken but swoon-worthy at the same time. Fantastic combo!! My only criticism is that the plot had some points that were just not realistic, such as them going back to the hospital after what had transpired earlier and the conclusion with guests (trying not to give spoilers) I also felt that the initial intimate scene pushed a bit too much as far as her enjoyment, however, I absolutely loved the manic heat between the two. I would recommend this and everything else by this author. I was given an earlier version of the book and this is what I really think of it.

I enjoyed this story of a hitman and the girl he finds locked in a hidden cellar in the house he bought and "liberated" from its previous sadistic owner.

Salvatore is hiding from his former employers, those he left alive. Eva has been abducted and locked in a room with cameras everywhere. When the door suddenly owns and a large man appears she is scared until he asks her who the heck she is and she realizes this is not the man who grabbed her. She can tell he has secrets, one of them being what happened to her abductor. All she knows is she feels safe with him and is glad to stay with him.

As in all hitman stories, there is plenty of stuff that is hard to believe in this one. Just take it all with a grain of salt and enjoy the ride. The sex is hot and there is more to the story than the relationship between Sal and Eva.

I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

What a great book that Alexis Abbott has brought out. I so enjoyed this read.

I can not imagine the fear that Eva Wells had felt. Here she was this single woman that had no one and now she finds her life turned upside down. Kidnapped by this crazy perverted man.

I have to say bad boy Salvatore aka Sal aka Angel of Death was so sexy. There was just something about his character that will make you melt in your seat. He was a hitman for the mafia and now he finds himself with not only the mafia after him but with a girl he did not know what to do with.

To me Sal and Eva had something in common. They were both these lost souls needed someone. I can not imagine living my life with no one I can say I am close to.

I loved the chemistry between Sal and Eva. Let me tell you the author did an amazing job writing these two characters and things will get pretty hot and steamy.

I am glad I got a chance to read the book and look forward to seeing what other stories this author brings out.

A good book by Alexis Abbott. Not her best but good all the same. Don't know what but felt something was missing... might just be me.
This is Salvatore and Eva's book. Sal has just retired from being a hitman for the mafia. In other words he is now in hiding. He bought a house in the woods in upper New York that was in foreclosure and plans to fix it up. After being there a few days he goes to check out a storage shed and gets the surprise of a lifetime.
Eva is a loner. She works two jobs and goes to school online. One of her jobs is working at a bar in the evening. She has to use the bus as she can't afford a car. On her way to the bus stop someone is following her. She misses her bus and she is a good ways from home. She is kidnapped. Nobody to miss her. Mother has passed away and father denies her. Who can help her? Where is she? Is this a random kidnapping? It's a surprise..

4 1/2 stars!

Ms Abbott writes my kind of Mafia stories! Action, a bit of gore (you get that with hit men!), and more focus on the romance than mob events. Eva's got a busy life. She works two jobs and is taking night courses to become a nurse. She is looking forward to getting a cat, but before she can do that, she is kidnapped. Sal, a “retired” hitman, accidentally saves Eva. Both have secrets & vulnerabilities that they are keeping from each other, but their chemistry is one thing they aren't hiding from! As their trust grows, protective Sal devotes himself to Eva, and Eva's strength becomes apparent, the perfect partner for a hitman trying to retire. Lots of action & family drama in this one, a romance that brews amidst danger, and a very tidy HEA. Great read!

I received an arc of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it.

Eva is walking to the bus stop after work, and becomes aware that somebody is following her, and she ends up being kidnapped. Sal is called the “Angel of Death” in the mob, and after eliminating his boss and associates, buys a safe house away from civilization. He ends up killing the owner, and starts to fix the place up, and this is where he discovers Eva in an underground bunker. Sal will do whatever he has to in order to protect and keep Eva safe; especially when he discovers that there is a hit out on her. This story has twists throughout, and the chemistry between these two characters is explosive. This extremely talented author has written a fantastic story, which flows seamlessly, and had me hooked and intrigued throughout. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers, and cannot wait to read more of her work.
Amazing story Alexis!
