Everyday Love #1

What Could Be

Rate this book
What happens if we let go of what we think should be and instead embrace what COULD be?

Nursing student Brynn Easton’s overachieving nature makes giving God control over her goals, dreams, and compulsive lists a constant challenge, but she’s trying. Between school, her increasingly absentee but otherwise perfect boyfriend, Caleb, and a childcare job she adores, her full life feels on track. But then she gets to know the charming single father of the most lovable boy she’s ever taught.

After the birth of his son, Josh Davis rededicated himself to God and has worked hard to get his life together. He’s avoided dating, but Brynn draws him in like no one else. Problem is, he can’t seem to find the nerve to get beyond the friend zone. Not that someone as sheltered and sweet as her would ever go for someone like him, anyway.

Can they move their friendship beyond past choices and pain and figure out what it truly means to walk in God’s will for their lives—especially when finding love and forever doesn’t look like they think it should?

The Everyday Love Series features self-contained, standalone sweet romances featuring different sets of characters facing real, everyday situations as they overcome obstacles and issues to allow God to move through and change their lives for the better as they also find love.

What Could Be was a story that I didn’t want to stop reading. I have to admit that I was up way too late reading this book! It was packed with interesting characters and a very plausible storyline.

I liked Josh and Brynn so much! The author took my heart on a real journey with this story, capturing the emotional highs and lows of a potential relationship, juggling baggage from past decisions, looking toward the future with uncertainty, and even the antics of a sweet little boy. I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series.

The setting for What Could Be was also unique, at least for me. I haven’t read many books set in Albuquerque, NM, and having this one set there was very fun, as it is a city that I have spent a lot of time in. I loved the details that were sprinkled into the novel, including references to the Balloon Fiesta and the beautiful Sandia Mountains.

Book One in the Everyday Love series really felt like home.
You see, I thought I’d read this book a while back, but I hadn’t. I guess I’m going backward because I actually read the last book, Whatever Happens Next,” first. So, now I’m getting to see what actually happened with all the wonderful characters I got to know in the last book of the series.
What happens when you think you have all things under control and then everything turns on a dime? Do you stick to your lists of how you think your life should be, or do you let go and let God take over the controls?
This is the lesson Brynn is learning the hard way. She’s a person who is full of life and loves working with children, but she’s questioning everything she’s doing. Josh is the father of a student where Brynn works and from all appearances, he’s got it “all put together.” However, as they get to know each other, they find they both have lots of baggage they need to work through.
This story was so sweet and captivating. It had drama, cute kid antics, fun dialogue, deep touching life lessons, and tender romance.
Jaycee Weaver is an author I have found who writes books that will touch your heart. I enjoy reading her stories because they always make me think about life and how with God’s help it can make it better. She has a sweet way out showing us the love God deeply has for us.
Now I can’t wait to read all the other books in this series. I guess I have some catching up to do!
I highly recommend you pick this book up.

What Could Be was a very easy read for me. I was immediately pulled in as Brynn and Josh tried to navigate the ups and downs life had brought them. I really enjoyed the spiritual thread as Brynn tried to figure out how to navigate her future and Josh tried to find out what his looked like. I will definitely read the next book in the series.

I loved Brynn and Josh together. Super cute and their dialogue wasn’t cringy. Braeden, Josh’s son wasn’t written annoyingly. I didn’t mind him at all. I loved how much God was talked about in this book.

What I didn’t love was how long it took Brynn to get with the program. I don’t mind slow burns, but I do mind when the h is being dumb and not wanting to admit things to themselves. I wanted to see more of Brynn and Josh together as a couple.

Either way I did like the book.

Great characters that truly suck you in instantly. The story had great plot development so I couldn't put it down. Looking forward to the next installment with baited breath.

Believable, real characters you feel like you know and their situations and circumstances are cut from real life. They aren't preachy or perfect in their faith either. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Brynn wrestles with her issues like a classic over-thinker, I might have identified with her more than a little! And it never hurts a girl to have a hot guy think she's worth pursuing.
Can't wait for the next book in the series.

A wonderful story about choices we make. Brynn was on a path toward her goal to be a teacher until she was hurt emotionally then she changed to nursing. She works in a before and after school program that she started and loves every minute, has a safe boyfriend and plays life safe or so she thought. Until she meets Josh, the single father of one of her favorite students in her program, Brandon. Now she is questioning her decisions and prays for wisdom to make the right choice and follow God's leading. She finds healing and forgiveness for past hurts seeking God's leading for her future. What will she decide? Read and find out in this book that I highly recommend by an amazing author Jaycee Weaver.

A great beginning to this Christian romance series.

After enjoying Jaycee's email subscriber novella, I dived straight into Brynn and Josh's story. It's not often I read a novel containing strong faith themes which also borders on edgy Christian fiction.

I thought the various scenes with the children were realistic and fun, and Brendan was totally adorable. The different side characters (Gina, Jenna, Jaydon, various grandparents etc) added depth to the story. I found it fascinating how the changes in Caleb and Brynn's relationship, and Josh and Brynn's friendship travelled in similar yet opposite arcs, which is true to life when things get complicated. 😉

A great read!

Sweet, endearing and relatable

I absolutely loved this book! It had me rooting hard for Josh and Brynn, and I liked that Caleb wasn’t this awful person because that made discerning God’s will that much harder - and more realistic of a plot point. Definitely recommend for its sweet romance, realistic histories of the main characters, and overall encouraging content. Didn’t want to stop reading, and the descriptions of New Mexico kinda made me want to live there - ha! Well done.

Reading Christian Romance has opened my eyes to strengthening my spirituality. I may not be able to follow all this book entails but there were some strong messages I need to adapt to my life.

This was a beautiful story about a developing relationship between two people who were afraid to admit their feelings to each and who had pasts they could not forget. They needed to remember that God forgave them of their sins and that He would lead the way.

the right plan for her

I read this book because it was on a list of books set around Thanksgiving time, but I have discovered yet another good author whose books I want to read! Bryn learned that life shouldn't be lived by a list alone, but by God's plan and guidance. It's so nice when people like Josh have completely been transformed by the love and power of Jesus! Very well done!

Pretty good

This was pretty good. It started pretty slow for me. I didn't get attached to Brynn until almost the halfway point. But good plot. Well written. Might read it again. Not my favorite by this author, but that won't stop me from reading more.

Characters have faith

This is a clean, Christian story. That’s the best thing to say about it. It has good principals in it for seeking God’s will. That alone could make it a good book. My personal feelings, though, are I didn’t enjoy it. I thought it was really slow moving and and I ended up skimming. I disliked the premise of a romance when a child’s mother is still alive and in the picture. She was painted as a run-a-round and had no redemption in the story. I would hope that a redeemed man would at least try to love on the mother and see if there could be healing there. Her parents had also turned Christian and seemed to have written her off. I also didn’t appreciate the age gap. I did appreciate that in a society where marriages are moving to older and older ages, the heroine was still college age. Yes, this situation might reflect the real-life of our broken world, but I’m in the group that’s likes happy endings, and I’m left sad for the mother who is only a minor character.

I wanted to enjoy this story. And I did for the first 50ish %. Then it draaaaged for another 40% (same thoughts, same conversations on repeat). But when it hit 90% I was really out. I HATE contrived, unnecessary angst. 2 adults not telling the truth and literally cutting each other off before they speak is ridiculous. I only hate I wasted time getting here.

Nice story BUT I found it too long and drawn out. It was totally obvious what was going to happen. The other thing was that I was disappointed with some bad language considering it was Christian fiction.

Loved this story! Lots of pertinent scriptures and self reflection, even if the sermons got just a tinge long. Even when the big crisis comes, like most stories, it calls a “spade a spade “ quickly and it’s realistic.

got better and better as the book went on

I love seeing the relationship the characters have with God and one of my favorite things about a book is seeing what about a person makes them fall in love, for example, Josh loves seeing Brynn with Brendan. Adorable. A fun read.

Single dad plus afterschool teacher. Josh feels things soo deeply! It sometimes broke my heart.
