In a world filled with evil, Kasey and Noam play a part in making life safer for those around them. Working on opposite sides of the law, and using their own methods, they take down the criminals who prey on the most innocent victims.

Kasey’s life is focused on saving others. He's protected the innocent for as long as he can remember. Part of an elite pedophile hunting team, he spends his nights taking down the sex offenders living in the area.

With a past he can't forget, he focuses all his emotions on his job, trying to protect children from the vile creatures who touched his own life.

Noam's always prided himself on being a good detective and protecting the citizens. Taking his job seriously, he strives to close the cases that he's faced with, no matter how much they haunt him. His professional life is running at full-speed, but his personal life leaves a lot to be desired.

When Kasey and Noam cross paths, they strike up an instant friendship, finding something they both didn't think they needed from each other, but Kasey has secrets he can't share with Noam, ones that would destroy him and his team if Noam found out.

As their emotions grow and the relationship builds, the risks increase. Kasey faces choosing between the man he's grown to love and the job that saves so many. How can Kasey move forward knowing he's one of the hunters that Noam is searching for? No matter the chemistry between them, the risk is too high to follow his heart.

Both men believe in what they do, but are they willing to give it all up for the chance at love?

Sometimes things aren't always black and white.

Confronted by choices that will change both their lives, the two must decide what matters most, holding on to the hope that, somehow, love will find a way.

This series is probably not for everyone, but I really enjoy it. The vigilantism may not sit well with some people, but these loathsome pedophiles need to be put down. Spoiler alert...

There is no sex in this book.
Both of the MCS have issues that pretty much negate sex. However, I didn't miss it, and I still felt the connection between the two. The only problem I had was how they started the relationship in the first place. Kase is a vigilante and he starts a relationship with a detective. In the beginning they start as friends, but it's not until they start really dating he starts to worry about his "job". If I was breaking the law on a daily basis, you can believe becoming friends with a cop would be on my "never to do" list. It just seemed incompetent. However, Kase is very lonely, and he's never clicked with someone so quickly so I forgave him. I really like this series, and am excited for more to come.

I got this on KU, because someone I'm following here loved this book and it sounded really different from the stuff I read in the last few month and it was. We got Vigilante stuff and a "no-sex" situation, which I wasn't mad about, because it all worked.
If you're not into the vigilante stuff, I'm sure you won't like this book, because a lot of scene describe that, I didn't mind.
I really liked Secret. Now I have to Pain, the first book in the series, because like usually I started out at the wrong end of a series. Totally no problem btw. It can totally be read as a stand-alone. :)

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this non sexual book. I like the way that the characters were written and how the subject was approached.

Can Trust Be Regained?

Before you read this book please read the first book PAIN. The author had detailed character development in the First Book. This continued in this Second Book with the presumption that the reader had read PAIN. The main characters in this book were secondary characters in the First Book. I was very happy to see them get their own book.

The book is aptly titled. One MC had no idea what the second MC was doing. Based on their personalities and lines of work, they were perfect for each other. They fit together like puzzle pieces. But the Secret between them had the power to destroy a beautiful relationship. And I mean a bomb blast that exploded with a huge KABOOM!!

The warning that I gave at the beginning for PAIN holds true for this book as well. The violence is graphic. The subject matter has the possibility to trigger those that are sensitive to scenes of child sexual abuse and violent vigilante justice.

Trust between two people is a precious and fragile emotional commodity. Having someone to confide ones inner most intimate thoughts, hopes, dreams, and secrets. Embarrassing moments, precious moments, exciting plans, and fears. To believe that person is the ying to your yang and suddenly, abruptly you discover he has been lying to you by omission. And the lie is not a little white lie - it's HUMONGOUS! Soul searing. Your perfect man is now dead to you. How do you survive the heart wrenching breakup? How can you ever TRUST again? How can you make yourself stop loving him?

He knew he was wrong for not telling the man he'd fallen in love with the Truth. But how could he when it would not only jeopardize his own freedom, but that of his "family"? Yet he knew he was wrong to keep the this Huge secret from his police detective boyfriend. He had to find a way though. Unfortunately TRUTH WILL OUT - before he could do it - the truth comes to light. The look of hurt, of shock, of incredulity was almost as devastating as when he was left...ALONE.

Never before had he hurt so badly. Emotionally, mentally, physically, deep down in his soul. He'd had the perfect partner, but he messed up royally & lost him. If he ended up in jail, he didn't care. His life was for all practical purposes over with anyway. He never believed that a heart could break. He'd never experienced emotions this deeply before. He'd truly loved & loss his police detective.

I absolutely loved this book. It's so but wrenching, poignant, and ultimately satisfying. Don't miss out on the chance to read both the First and this Second Book in the Save the Kids series!

Highly recommended

This book is a fantastic read. This series is easily one of the best I've read. When Noam & Kasey meet the attraction is immediate but can they survive when Kasey job as a paedophile hunter, conflicts with Noam's job as a police detective or is saving the kids worth more. Give this book/series a go it will not disappoint.

The Save The kids series books are not something to pick up when you are looking for lite reading. That being said book 2 is just as intense with all the characters you learned to love. A bonus is that it falls a few years later so you get to see all the progress Faith has made. This is not the book for someone easily triggered but it is well worth reading. Nothing is particularly graphic but since it deals with pedophilia and human trafficking you get to see the battle to protect kids first hand.
For those whose sexuality would be "other" the two MCs may be a better fit for your reading pleasure. Both are scared to tell the new guy they don't want sex. They both expect to be dumped again when they come clean. Instead it leads to a conversation that shows them they are perfect for each other. There is still a few secrets that can tear them apart but if they can survive them true love awaits.
I would recommend this to adult and New Adult readers. Though not terribly graphic the characters remove Faith for most discussions and it seems appropriate to me kids that age not read it. If they do it would help to have a trusted adult they can talk about it with. This deals with internet privacy, catfish friending kids on social site and what can happen. It is unfortunate much of the most upsetting information is true.

Where the heck have I been that I missed this coming out? I mean, after reading PAIN (which is a must read) I had this one on my radar, alas I failed Ms. Leya in keeping an eye out. I’m sorry, but I’m here now.

Another heart wreck yet heart full story. E.M. does it again in this story where one minute you are devastated at knowing this type of abuse happens in the real world, yet she makes your heart mend and feel full with the compassion and dedication of the STK team. These men and women (including Faith here) will just amaze you with their hearts and actions. And who doesn’t love the banter between the family?

Kasey and Noam start on 2 different sides of the law yet have the same goal. I just love what their own love to each other meant. I was heartbroken when the truth came out, yet was hoping for them to understand and accept the blurred lines. But not to fail, and I should never have questioned it, they do, and it’s more magical. They are stronger in the end, and I know more justice will be done now.

I am most definitely looking forward to the next book and I promise to keep a keen eye for it!

Heartbreaking for the children, and Noam and Kasey!

Professionally Noam and Kasey are direct opposites on the side of law but meeting accidentally and finding that their private personal lives are so aligned they fall in love. Noam is a detective who is coming across more cases of “justice” being dealt to repeat or hardcore pedophiles. By law he should be going after these vigilantes but in his heart he supports them. Kasey is such a sweetheart with Faith (child saved in Pain) but he is adamant about dealing “justice” to pedophiles. Can they reconcile their differences? They have such great chemistry and are so romantic together.

I loved Pain, the first book in this series, and I have to say that I love this book but it struck me in a different way. This story beautifully illustrated the differences in human love and that we all have different needs in love. Beautifully done!

Difficult subject to write and read about

Secret is a story showing the ugly and depraved side of humanity, the sex trade and paedophilia rings that run rampant throughout the world. E. M. Leya weaves a story based in truth, about a group of vigilantes out to stop them. And she does it with grace and tact. This is the second book in the series and focuses on Kasey, one of the vigilantes and his path to love with Noam. He meets Noam randomly and there is an instant attraction, however past issues for both of them , leave them scared. Plus Noam is a police detective. How could this ever work? Read to find out.

Another great STK story

Noam and Kasey’s story is a little different but in such a beautiful way that your heart will fill up with their love. The author does a wonderful job of explaining what STK does without it being all consuming as well as how their work effects Noam and Kasey’s relationship. In a way it’s as if the horror of what STK faces is balanced with the emotions of their growing relationship.

With that said, Kasey and Noam are officially my favorite couple of all EM Leya’s books and you should read this to find out why.

Thank you for writing a man who is a couch potato.
Thank you for writing a man who's is on the asexual spectrum and not being ashamed of it.
Awesome story. Both guys were beautiful, their story progress nicely, they talked to each other, were honnest as much as possible, no (forced) sex scene which felt genuine. The team were awesome and caring. They are family.
The subject of the book is hard, heartbreaking but handle really well. Not too much, no drama.
No drama/OTT scene between MC either.
Such a beautiful love story and a story with a background that is needed to be told.

4.5 stars. Wonderful story, lost souls find home

A suspenseful story, filled with caring; team members who are family with a shared goal of finding and protecting children. One police detective who has suffered terrible injury and is no longer finding peace and fulfillment in his work. When he unknowingly develops a close relationship with a vigilante who catches pedophiles, both men and the team are at risk.
A raw story of child abuse, kidnapping and not for the squeamish - yet a story of hope and love.

Secret is the second book of the STK series and without wanting to give any spoilers get ready for a brilliant storytelling.
Grip the reality of how to decide what is right or wrong when you finally find the one you have been looking for all your life.
Call it Fate or whatever word you wish, but Kasey and Noam are fighting for the children… all in different sides of the same coin.
The children come first… then it’s up to the adults to decide if they love each other enough.

Just...wow!

Secret! What a fabulous story! Kasey and Noam had me at their very first words. It really gots to show, there’s somebody for everyone.

And what an intense story. I went from Pandora Pine and exorcism to EM Leya and castration! My next book definitely has to be about unicorns and rainbows!

This book can be read as a stand-alone, but start with Pain. You need the back story.

We found out in gruesome detail what the STK team did to punish the pedophiles in book 1 of the series Pain, so for me the shock value wasn't quite the same here since this book was just basically more of the same. But I can say that I found the relationship between Kasey and Noam to be an unexpected, unusual and interesting one.

Not as good as the first

So was a little disappointed with this one. Yes the story is really hard hitting and delves deep into a dark world of vile people and is told brilliantly. I just found the main characters a little boring and did not come close to the connection you felt with Matt and Xander. Still worth a read but not as good as the first, sorry.

Really great read

Book 2 was an interesting read also. This continuation brought the story full circle, wrapping up an intense storyline. Every character from book one was heavily involved, still leaving the main focus on Kase and Noam while continuing with the brave and determined heroics of STK. Well written.

I loved this book! The characters pull you into their story, that you can’t wait to see what happens. The content can be graphic for some but to me it’s just background for the book, but it’s not say, that I am all for the way they handle these monsters!! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Save the kids!!

You have a cop and a guy that saves kids outside the law.
This was such a good read. It addresses a sensitive subject but the book was well written. It captures your attention from the beginning and makes you think what would do in that situation.

Very Good

Another great story in the Save The Kids series. Definitely an easier read than the virst, there is less detail in what the kids are going through. I did find the writing style to be a little stiff/proper (not a relaxed narrative) but in a way that suited the characters
