That was a ride!
You can totally see how in each book, the author, Jay Argent, developped his writing/storytelling skills! He did a good job at balancing lighthearted and dark elements in this one.

This volume was definitely good at making you wonder about what would come next and at being a page-turner.
Though, I miss their friends from college, "Best Friends Forever" is my favorite volume of the series and I'll miss Alex and Liam! I'm glad I decided to give "Fairmont Boys series" a chance.

Best friends can be destroyed by emotions, hormones, and fear.

Alex and Liam were doing well together and with college. They still had ties with their high school friends, but Liam was still affected but the sudden disappearance of his former best friend Matthew who just disappeared shortly after school let out to move to Alabama without a goodbye or contact information. That kind of parental controls destroys developing young adults and id difficult for adults, too.

When Alex becomes the best swimmer and then Assistant Coach for the high school swim team training camp, he gets separated from Liam some, but they still get some together time, but Matthew reappears with emotional and drug issues while still trying to admit he is gay for Liam..

Alex has to deal with the homophobic attitude of Roy and his friend on the swim team he is trying to coach and train. Threats could end his career, but he is able to deal with threats, panicked parents for Matthew, drugging of Liam, Roy'photo threats and rumors while demonstrating his ability to control the team and do the job.

That feeling you get when a series ends is like no other. Living vicariously through the ups and downs of these boys was definitely a journey.

This series definitely had its good and its bad. Minor grammar, spelling and word choice mistakes throughout, and an interesting writing style made it a unique but bareable and still enjoyable experience.

I’m sad it’s over, but, I get to continue the story in my mind to a certain extent. What do the boys futures behold them and where do they end up after college? I guess everyone’s answer will be different, and at least for the moment, I can live happily knowing that although this series is done, in my mind it isn’t.

Thanks Jay! What an experience.

It’s always something

Jay really puts his boys through hell. Alex and Liam navigate through the latest obstacles. As with every book in this series, I have problems with some of the characters actions that wouldn’t happen in the real world. Even with that said, I still enjoyed the story. 3.75 for not giving up on people.

I read an ARC. Jay Argent, though not American, really understands what it’s like to be a young gay man in the United States. It’s amazing how well he develops the characters in his books. The book was a little darker, dealing with different aspects of homophobia we have to face.

A lot of parallels

As I read this book, I was wishing the technology was available to help with our coming out feelings. I could relate to Matthews mother reaction. It kicked in many emotions and memories

Good story and book to close out the series. Author has definitely learned to integrate more suspense and improve the writing style with this book.

Overall pulled the series up to a “recommended read” with 4 stars. I look forward to reading other works by this author.

There is always that one friend who leaves a mark in our lives. No matter the distance between them, they have a special bond. Even in the darkest of hours a will do our best to help them. This book is excellent and is a must read

The finale of the series and good that it ends here.
The boys finally learned. Some minor trouble but solved easily.
And the final loose end is being tied up, in a predictable way.... something we saw coming since book 1.

I love Liam and Alex so much!!! Their story is such a beautiful one. The plot was really interesting and I loved Alex’s working storyline. I felt really bad for one of the characters and hope that they find happiness. This series is such a great one!!!

Interesting End

While I understand, Matthew’s presence in this book, it was too much — especially the epilogue.
It would’ve been awesome to have a finalization to Liam and Alex‘s relationship. Yes, them getting engaged or married.
I’m very glad that Liam didn’t choose Matthew..

Great series!

It was nice to tie things up and learn just where all the characters ended up. I really enjoyed the whole series and highly recommend it!

It was really good so much happened Alex is so over protective of Liam and I can't believe that Matthew did drugs but it make sense that he loved Liam but I didn't think he would drug him

Wow! Didn't see that one coming.

Great story 👏 I was very pleased with all the plot twists. It had both unsuspected good and sad developments. Well worth the read.

I've read the last book of the series and it was the best! All through the series I wanted Alex & Liam to be blessed together and I got what I had been waiting for! Alex has such wise and strong personality that help him get through all the nightmares and extricate his lover too, by the way, in 4 and 5 books. But, fifth book is real gem and it has very bittersweet ending so I couldn't help crying almost... Love and friendship go along with woe and loneliness and there is very easy and short way from the first to the second ones but, unfortunately, there is so long and insecure path in another direction...
