Dang it!! I am so on the fence. The story itself is really interesting and entertaining but that FMC. I can barely stand her attitude lol. She is so incredibly hostile and I feel like everyone has to treat her with kid gloves or else she just explodes everywhere. Instead of coming across like a BAD A, really she is just mean, and like a ticking time bomb of rage. Even I am a little intimidated by her. I for the life of me cannot fathom how these 4 delicious men have fallen for this girl she barely has any redeeming qualities other than her knack for pissing every one in a 10 mile radius off almost immediately after meeting her.

Other than our FMC's most obvious attitude problems. We are on the run, hiding in one court after the next trying to buy time for Cass to train to be the weapon she was meant to be. I have to admit that some of the dialogue made me giggle for sure. After a disaster in the "Blood Court" they head to the Academy to begin Cass in classes, but of course 5 mins after she gets there she behaves just like her normal self and turns the school into a big crapshow. Her lack of responsibility and inability to keep a train of thought were quite irritating at times.

I know, I know if I dislike the heroine so much then why do I keep reading?! I DONT KNOW! Despite not liking her I still liked the book.... I am so confused! I feel like I dont even know myself anymore lol!

Okay, it's getting a bit better.

A Court of Fire and Metal is the second installment of the War of the Gods series. In it, you will have moments where Cass is a bad ass or likable.. but then she kind of just ends up frustrating me a bit. Here or there.. but I just, ugh, don't get it! I like her and her mates.. but it was ugh.

I did, however, enjoy the smut! Mostly because then Cass wasn't annoying the shit out of me. I did, also, really like her powers because they intrigue me. Especially when she was using her powers to be a freaking bad ass and to show people to not underestimate her. Of course, they still did.. but oh well.

Other than that, the ending was a bit dramatic. Maybe it's just me.. but hot damn, I just didn't like it!

Cass and her mates travel to the Academy to hide from the Olympian Gods. While Cass learns what powers she has and how to use them, she also manages to stir up a lot of trouble at the school. She also makes a new friend and completes the bond with all her mates. However, there is a traitor at the school who has designs on obtaining Cass for himself.

I'm not sure if Cass is growing on me or if I am just getting used to her bratty character but I found her a tad less annoying at the end of this book. The plot progressed a little, most of it was just her playing with her powers and playing with her mates. There was plenty of smut, but it was only average in quality - so I'm giving it a 3 out of 5.

If you enjoy paranormal romances and reverse harems, you want to check out this series.

Cass is a really intriguing character. She has faced so much since being released from her prison. Cass really wants to enjoy her freedom and the sexy men who have claimed her heart and body. She also wants to learn about her abilities and who she really is destined to be.

I really enjoy her interactions with others. She is a free spirit and says what she thinks. Her introduction to the students at the school was highly entertaining. When she sees something wrong, she is fierce about correcting the issue. I loved how she dealt with bullying. She takes no prisoners.

Her relationships with her men are growing stronger. She likes to test their limits and it leads to some really hot scenes. I am looking forward to seeing those relationships continue to grow. They each really love her and want to protect her but each have a different idea how to achieve that goal.

I read a lot of reverse harems. This author has written many great ones and you won;t go wrong checking them out too. She really creates some fun characters and definitely knows how to build the heat among the characters.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

After reading the first book I wanted to give this series a chance.
I hoped to see some evolution on the heroine's character. In the first book I could understand her behavior because of the cage, althouth I personally think it's not well done as I did not feel a lot of empathy for her situation.
This second book ... I found her petulant, self-absorved and generally unlikable. I guess the author was trying for snarky and funny in a way, but for me she did not come through as any of that. She behaved like an odious brat, and even her four man-candy were becoming tedious with their ass-kissing dispositions.
I liked the storyline, the relationship developement, the world building... and I would have liked the characters if they had fullfilled their potential ... but when I began disliking them I just could not enjoy anything.
I will not be reading the next one. Such a shame, because this book could have been one of my favorites in this RH genre!

Love Cass and her men!

I am really enjoying this series with Cass and all 4 of her men. The world and storyline is creative and draws me in. The author has created plenty of drama to keep the reader guessing and on the edge of their seat. The characters are all well described and depicted by the author. I can easily tell the difference between the characters and never noticed any contradictory elements.

Cass still is socially awkward and has zero tact when talking to others which is actually rather humorous to read, especially when she has her first class. Her origins are still an enigma but we did uncover more little pieces of information but still struggling to put together the whole picture. I get help but get a vibe of intentional creation from Cass. As if someone purposely crafted her to be the way she is since she finds herself mainly learning through instincts. A quick note about her possible birth father, it was mentioned several times that she could be the daughter of Hades because of the death vibes they get from her. Noah even said that she was the heir to Hades’ throne and was the god of death...however, Hades is not the Greek god of death but that title actually belongs to Thanatos since he’s the personification of death. Hades is the god of THE dead and ruler of the underworld. Maybe I’m being too analytical or I just read it wrong or maybe the author has a surprise for us all and plans to introduce Thanatos to us.

Another fantastic read from Meg that I highly recommend!!

This book is everything I expected and more! Cass is such a fabulous character. She is a walking contradiction, and I love her for it. One moment she is mature beyond her years, and the next she is like a spoiled teenager. She is stubborn and demanding, and then she turns around and surprises you with her generosity. She is exactly how I imagine someone who had been kept locked up for years would be. She wants to experience everything right now, and then worries about the future. Her relationships with her men are progressing at a perfect pace and I love that each of them appeal to a different part of her personality. They have figured out that she won't be bossed around and she isn't afraid to remind them of that fact when they forget. They mostly just sit back and let her do her thing, which leads to many humorous moments. There are also moments of steamy passion, danger and excitement, and lots of eating. Cass is learning more and more about her powers. She is making new friends, and new enemies, and discovering that things aren't exactly how she thought they were. After reading this one, I'm left with more questions than answers. Who can Cass trust? Who isn't being totally honest? What powers has she still not discovered? Who will stand with her and who will be against in this battle for the world? And the most pressing question, will anyone ever stand between her and her cake? Inquiring minds want to know! I can't wait for the next one and I think EVERYONE should read this book!

Much, much better.

Yes, Cass, THANK YOU FOR ADMITTING ALL OF YOUR FLAWS.
She may be immature and annoying, but she admits it. I respect that.

I still don't like her.

But I love this series.

The ending SUCKED.
I hate cliffhangers.
BUT my predictions were all correct, which made me happy.

My review of the men:
Pyrder: helllll yesssss.
Lorcan: he's like the father of the group but goes by daddy.
Reysalor: still think I'm saying his name wrong but he's my fave.
Alaric: I'll have all of your children in Australia.

The fact that book 3 comes out in November makes me hella excited.

I liked that the heroine Cass was able to siphon off the energy of the Gods like a psychic vampire and that's about all I liked so it was a good thing that she was constantly eating God energy. Now if she would only stay away from cakes.

Delicious Tale of Betrayal

The gods are devious with their plans. Cass is rash and inexperienced which gets her into some interesting situations. Chaos tends to pop up around her earning her some enemies. Through it all Cass deepens her relationship with her fated mates and gains a few extra relationships along the way.

Arghhh, DNF

39%...I don't remember mc being so horrible in bk 1. Maybe overlooked it due to trauma. Anyway, she was beyond obnoxious! The nicknames for her sucked too. 70's disco lizard, "Cass baby". Smarmy. The fact her harem accepted her ridiculous behavior was perplexing. Liked story plot, just tweak it...age of consent, 18 at least, would be a good start.

While I didn't enjoy this one as much as I did the first one, it was still good.

In the second book of the War of the Gods series, we pick up right where we left off.
Cass is needed to wake her vampire mate from his slumber.
Train to become the ultimate weapon, eventually destroying the Gods out to destroy them.

We learn a little more about Cass' background in this story.
Which God sired her.
More bad stuff happens.
But she does soldify her bond with all four mates.
There are some pretty steamy scenes in this one! :)

Cass seemed a little harder for me to like in this one.
Her attitude and dependence was a hard pill to swallow.
While in the first book, I understood where she was coming from, I thought after everything that happened at the club, she would reign in her need to make all the decisions.
She does "compromise" sometimes, but I don't think it was enough.
I'm not saying she needs to cower away and let the guys run her life, but she does need to realize they have MILLENIUMS of years on their side.

This story ends in a cliffhanger.
A pretty crazy one at that!
I'm excited to see what will happen in the next book.

Overall, I enjoyed it and I would recommend it.

The initial sex scenes were a bit overdone and kind of bland and boring in their intensity. The storyline doesn't really start until a good bit into the book. It was also frustrating that Cass seems to have, at least in the beginning of the book, become less intelligent and more whiny and childlike than we left her in the first book. She does come into her own though and with quite a flair. I have to say I wonder if she exudes pheromones that automatically make alpha type women hate her. Amber is sweet. The ending leaves quite the cliffhanger, and I look forward to reading the next book.

Meg’s creative writing is amazing! Plots are impressive and totally not like the others. It was all a twist. I though I could predict the next scenes but it all fell flat. It was unpredictable like any other books I read. I even laughed my ass off from the Cass’s bravado and ego. Definitely recommendable!

Still doing OK with this series, though the fact that the image on the covers looks nothing like how the MC is described is annoying.

I would have hoped to have more personality in all the characters by the end of book 2, but they are all still pretty superficial.

Here's hoping that this series isn't another one where I end at book 3.

Now that Cass is establishing her role with her mates, there's even more responsibility resting on her shoulders. She's got to learn more about what she is, figure out how to activate her latent powers, and how to become or avoid becoming the weapon that everyone so desperately wants her to be.

Cass and her men find themselves looking for anywhere they can stay and train Cass while keeping her safe from the Gods who would love nothing more than to eliminate her. Although they try Lorcan's court, things don't work out quite as they wished. For me, the betrayal was easy to predict, especially after their experience in the first book. It served its purpose since it helps to push them to the next location, but I just wasn't much surprised.

After they find their way to the Academy, they're being challenged from different fronts. Cass needs to figure out how to smooth her way, socially, when she's never had much experience fitting in with those around her. Does she try to tame who she is? Would she even want to? Which Cass is the one that her mates will love?

Not only that, but there are others who are desperate to test Cass's magic even if it might come with deadly results.

We get a few new characters who have the potential to make a big splash in the series- including Amber, a human soothsayer who's drawn to Cass and seems particularly attuned to her.

My big pet peeve is that Cass seems to be developing, but I'm not feeling so confident about the men. Cass is learning; the change may be a bit slow, but she's starting to mature and show more thought/care about how she deals with others. The men are staying the same. This isn't all bad; they're still loyal, loving, protective, and supportive. However, they're feeling a bit in the background when I'd really love to see more aspects of their personalities and histories emerge. I feel like I still don't know much about each of them, and I'd love to see some distinct relationship dynamics develop between the men and Cass so they each take on their own unique role in my mind.

Overall, I still find the story engaging, and I enjoyed reading A Court of Fire and Metal. There's progress in the storyline, and we are definitely moving forward with learning more about what Cass is capable of. I'd definitely give book three a try, especially since the series is available on KU!

Great second book. The plot is moving along and I am starting to see growth in Cass. She still has her sarcastic, bratty moments but she is starting to realize that she needs to be a leader.

There is the usual betrayal of another woman because she wants Cass' mate. This was the only thing I didn't like because the same thing happened in book one with a different female vampire.

Once Cass' security is compromised at the vampire compound she and her mates move to the Academy. She gets to enroll, for what purpose I'm not sure since she is already very powerful, and meets Amber a seer who is connected to her. Cass wants the guys to back off so she can make her own way at the Academy but she is always causing some kind of problem.

Alas, Cass' instincts were right regarding Noah, one of the council members. He is actually one of the Gods, Apollo, and when she first sees him she gets a vision of him on a flaming chariot. Somehow she ignores this but expresses to her mates that he needs to be watched.

As far as the RH aspect of this book, it is still very plot driven, but she FINALLY gets together with her guys. The first is Lorcan, (in the first chapter) because he is injured and by mating with her he will heal. The hottest scene, in my opinion, is between her and Pyrder. He is the joker and easy-going one who lets Cass get away with whatever she wants. But he is definitely all alpha in bed.

I am going into the next book to see how Apollo and Ares plan works out. The reviews for the last 2 books have not been great, so I am crossing my fingers for a continued engaging plot and more hot scenes with her men.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

So, most likely I'll read the installment that comes out next month (as we're one day away from "next month"), but I do home it's the final wrap up because there are some serious problems with the series that will only get worse. The characters are interesting enough (though I tire of Cass constantly reverting back to a petulant little brat) and the main plot is something I'd like to see through, even though by the end of the second book, I feel like a lot more should have been revealed.

However, the sex scenes are bad. Really bad. As in, I found myself physically cringing. I didn't pick up this book for the erotica aspect and I'm thankful for that. The sex scenes do not flow into the writing. They read as if written by another person, one who is very, very young and inexperienced and cut into the story at the last minute. The transition is jarring and the scenes sound like a young teenager is trying really hard to be scandalous, dirty, and provocative. It goes from mildly entertaining, to ridiculous, to downright laughable. By the last one, which should have been the steamiest, I found myself rolling my eyes and snorting at just how absolutely terribly it was written. So, so bad.

In short, interesting plot and characters. Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad sex scenes. The words "fuck" and "pussy" do not a sex scene make, no matter how many times they're repeated.

I liked the first book. I like the story so far, but the characters are so annoying. I didn't write this review to be mean or mega critical. The book is still good. I write all this in the hope that it may help the writer. Her story is very good!
Our fMC reminds me of a character from the last book I read; An 8 year old girl who was adorable. Somehow I don't find it as adorable with a girl who is in her 20's. She is very self-centered, very rude, and very childish. When she doesn't get her way with her mates she thinks about unmating them (jokingly I think). It kind of feels she doesn't take the mating that serious. She never thinks about how her actions might effect/affect her mates, she also doesn't really try to get to know them. Weird thing is that in the last two chapters, all of a sudden the fMC comes across as way more mature. I missed the whole development towards that maturity.
The guys also don't really have a character development. Their personality is explained through the fMC instead of experienced. For example she actually thinks "Pyrne is the playful one". But I want to be able to make that conclusion myself from all the things that Pyrne does and says. From non of his actions can I actually conclude that he is the playful one.
I will read the next book, because I already feel like there is an improvement from her other series (I hated the whole cookie and lamb thing in the other one). Here they just talk about her even though she is sitting next to them.

This book is so busy, and has so much packed into it! I couldn't stop listening. Picking up where book 1 left off, (Yes, you must listen to all of them to get the full story), Cass and her four soulmates begin to get her ready for war. Going to the Academy is one step and Cass meets several new and intriguing characters there. Noah is one that we just aren't sure of. Full of charm and charisma, she is watching out for him. And her new good friend, the soothsayer Amber. She is a good influence and so far I am really liking her. Cass's relationships grow and the love between her four men and her keeps growing. I did find Cass a little overbearing at times, but with her impending responsibility and her past, I can understand her attitude and frustrations! She is a force to be reckoned with. If you like reverse harems, action packed scenes, strong females and just a really good story, this series is one you will enjoy! It will keep you on your toes, wondering what will happen next and your steam meter high!

Victoria Mei is incredible with her portrayal of this story. There are so many characters, and each time she changes voices, know exactly who is speaking. She nails each one with the perfect voice, giving them their own personality and makes the listen a movie in your mind experience.

A Court of Fire and Metal, book 2 in the War of the Gods series, is even better than the first! This series is definitely one of my new favorites as Cass's story just gets more complex and exciting with every new page I read.

Cass is really growing into herself. She is no longer the girl locked in a cage by her abusive mother but a woman surrounded by four overprotective men who want her to save the world. She goes to the academy to learn how to use her powers at the place where everyone who wants to fight against the gods is learning and training. The academy is home to supernaturals and humans alike and Cass gets a chance to make a friend, as well as some new enemies. But someone at the academy is not who they say they are, which might just be disastrous for Cass.

Cass and the guys really get to know each other better in this book. From the beginning, their fated bond has drawn them together, but this book shows them getting closer emotionally and really growing their relationship past the physical.... but there is definitely still lots of steam.

This book ends in a tough place for Cass. This is quite the cliffhanger and if I wasn't so in love with this story I'd probably be upset lol. Seriously desperate for book 3 now, I can't wait!

OMG! Cass never catches a break. All she basically wants out of life is to have fun with her mates, do some shopping, eat lots of cake, kill her mother and not die at the hands of the Gods. Is that really so much to ask? I laughed at Selena's fate and how she got off so much easier than her sister. It was sweet that Cass actually made a friend and was able to learn something very valuable from Amber. I was howling with laughter at Cass's first day of school and trouble most definitely seems to find her and not the other way around. The bright spot is Cass finally formed the mate bond with all four of her mates before her little DVD escapade. Cass's mates seriously need to devise a better God detector because this is getting ridiculous. I can't wait to see what hell gets unleashed in book three.

I have a love/hate feeling with this book. I love that Cass is still a strong-willed, kick ass heroine but I’m struggling with how juvenile she is. I try to keep in mind that with her being held in captivity all her life till now, she’s still getting used to what it means to be around people and have freedom, and in that sense, the book is great about portraying her struggle with that. But sometimes I find it hard to enjoy the action or romance happening because of her childish attitude and thoughts. By the end of the book, she does seem to gain some maturity so I’m hoping that continues onto to the next book. I do want to continue to watch her relationships develop and know more about her and what she’s capable of so I will read the next one, but am hoping Cass’s mentality starts to mature as rapidly as her body did.

Poor storyline

I’ve read two of this series and to be honest I’d hoped with the second the storyline would have evolved more than what it has. I’m not a huge fan of overly descriptive sex scenes that don’t fit into the storyline. Frankly the books would be better if the storyline evolved more and was more robust than oops something happens oops let’s go have sex oops now something else happens oops more sex. But if that’s your thing these books are for you. Also the main character is not nice and I really don’t like her. I think if the writer would focus on the storyline and tastefully put in sex scenes these books could be a lot better. As of right now they sorta suck. Frankly even the sex scenes suck I think there needs to be more descriptive words that aren’t so crass.

Well this is sad. I really, really, don't want to read the next books (specially because there are two more books, not just one more). This one was pretty much useless for the plot, all this arc about the academy was unnecessary and annoying. And the main villain was painfully obvious, that by the time he finally "revealed" himself I just had to roll my eyes.

If that wasn't enough, I'm mad that the bonding with Reysalor was like THAT. I just gonna say that. He deserved better. He is the best character of the first book. And probably of this one, no matter how much the author likes to push Lorcan in our throats.

I like the worldbuilding and all the war with the gods, so that's why I give it a try to this second book, even if the first book wasn't great. But this one was just too hard to read. I'm not sure if I will be reading the next one.

Growth, Romance & Betrayals!!😱💘😢 4.25 Stars 🌟
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)

I really appreciated the growth Cass had throughout this book. Her pettiness & childish behaviour, though understandable, was so darn annoying!!🙈😡 The development of each of the mate bonds was intriguing. I was surprised by their order & length in between that was waited, although I loved the respect it showed to Cass!🔥🙏💕

She should be 'Pandora - The bringer of Chaos'.😂 Bless, even being on her best behaviour it turned into a disaster every time!😳🙈 I do love how all of the guys guards are getting naturally protective of her.💜 Amber was brilliant at rallying everyone to her side 🙏 But that ending .... 😲😭💥 I can't wait to start the next book!🌟

Good Book

A Court of Fire and Metal continues Cass’ story and sees her continuing to bond with her mates and training in order to take on the gods who are set on destroying the world. Cass is possibly one of my favourite FMC’s that I’ve read about in a while. I love her immaturity and view of the world and while some people might find this annoying, I find it endearing. The pace of the story seemed to speed up a bit in this book and there was a lot of ground covered. I also love the relationships that Cass has with her mates and it keeps me entertained. After the cliffhanger at the end I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend giving it a read.
