Defending Their Mate

Rate this book

ONE Captive Human Female...
TWO Battle-scarred Alien Warriors...
THREE Ferocious Dragons...
The aliens won her heart!
Now they’re fighting for her life!

Aliya’s fellow crew members from Earth are all in love, happily mated to hot warrior twins in their new home on Tharon. But Aartan, the sexy Alpha male who makes her heart race, doesn’t seem interested in romance. What’s more, he’s shrouded in mystery. He doesn’t have a mate and no one will tell her what happened to his twin...

When she challenges him to kiss her and then swear he’s not attracted to her, Aliya unleashes the passionate warrior hidden beneath his cool façade. After one night of pleasure more intense than she’s ever known, he tells her they can never be together and sends her away!

But when Bophe, an old enemy from the past, kidnaps Aliya and threatens to have his Gornian dragons tear her limb from limb in the Arena of Tanis Major, she discovers she has not one, but two fierce Tharan warriors who will fight any foe in the Universe to the death to win her freedom and save her life!

Can Aliya help her wounded warriors fight their own demons and build a new life with them in a world halfway across the galaxy?

A Note From The Author: Defending Their Mate is a standalone romance in the Tharan Ménage series featuring the Luna’s medical officer Aliya Rashadaman, raised by Himalayan mystics, and a pair of battle-scarred warriors with dark secrets in their past. They’re very different from the heroes in my other books in the series. But I promise you’ll get an unexpected surprise HEA!

This is the sixth book in the Tharan warrior series. Fortunately, I had read the first book since that book laid the foundation for this series, not only of the overall plot but also the background of the Tharan warriors and their undeniable attraction to their fated mate. So while I enjoyed this book, I think that this book is definitely best read as a series in order to fully appreciate the world building. This book featured Aliya, a human, that is not at all afraid to go after what she wants. And what she wants is her two warriors. Forget the fact that her warriors think that they know best when they try to deny their relationship is the right thing for Aliya! With plenty of steamy scenes, this was an enjoyable sci-fi menage romance. I'm interested in not only seeing where this series goes next but also catching up on the books I've missed.

I love this series and this installment is so good!! When two battle-scarred warriors are given a mate for the second time they must protect her at any cost, even from themselves. But Aliya knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it she just doesn’t anticipate the uphill battle that she will face. She gets kidnapped by a being that is vile and evil. Will the twins risk going to save her? I can’t wait for this series to continue!!!

** I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review **

Tharan Warrior Ménage, Book #6. WOW! Where can I get some Tharan Warriors?

Aartan's a brilliant Tharan surgeon renowned for his work with cybernetics. But where's his twin? Does he have a mate or children? What happened to take him from being a warrior to a surgeon? Aliya, an Earthen healer able to heal both body and mind, only knows two things. Aartan won't take advantage of the very cybernetics he uses to accomplish miracles for others, and he's fighting the overwhelming chemistry between them. Even if his gyron didn't affect her physically, she'd still know he wants her as much as she wants him. After a steamy encounter in the lab where they work, Aliya makes an astounding discovery that explains everything! But when Aartan rejects her and sends her back to Tharon, she's crushed. How could he do this after everything that's happened? Then fate cruelly steps in. Seems Bophe, the tyrant of Tanis Major, has finally decided to take his vengeance on the Tharans. He's already tangled with and lost monumentally to the Tharans twice. His revenge? Kidnapping Aliya, making her his slave, and taunting the Tharans to rescue her. Both times Bophe's tangled with the Tharans, they took him by surprise. This time it's Bophe who holds the upper hand. There won't be any sneak attacks. There certainly won't be any help from inside Bophe's camp. Bophe's vicious, barbarous, wily, and crafty. He's bound to have stacked the odds in his favor. And a win over the Tharans will be broadcast throughout the entire galaxy. It's what Bophe's famous for. Can Aliya be saved? Doubtful, at best. When two Tharan warriors show up in Bophe's arena, Aliya's not the only one who's stunned. Seriously? Two over-the-hill, crippled Tharan warriors to go up against a Melizan and Bophe's Gornian dragons? That these warriors are no strangers to Aliya is an even bigger shock. Is there any way this can end well for anyone but Bophe? But are things as they seem? Is any of this enough to save Aliya? There can't be any way these two warriors can defeat a Melizan, can there? What of the Gornian dragons? Ultimately, is there any amount of luck and skill that can save Aliya? Or will Bophe's treachery and double dealing end not just Aliya but those she holds dearest?

This book is a bit of a departure from the previous books in this series. I can't go into detail about how it's different without giving away the secrets that make this book absolutely captivating. I won't even try. The unexpected twists and turns make this story truly extraordinary. Aliya is perfection. A healer of both body and mind, she takes on challenges that even the biggest, most hardened Tharan warrior can't. She's truly remarkable. Aartan has so many secrets. His physical trauma is evident. His emotional agony is something altogether different. And while Aliya and Aartan are definitely the very heart of this story, in my opinion, the supporting characters make this story. It could never work without them. Without Kyra, Ceres, Jax, Jynn, and especially Bophe this story would never work. Kallista Dane has more than outdone herself this time. I absolutely loved that I never knew from one page to the next what new secret would be revealed. Predictable is one thing this book is not. Congratulations, Ms. Dane! This is the best book yet in the Tharan Warrior series, and I can't give it anything other than five stars.

One final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the author. She works very hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to the book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!

This was my first book by this author, I was offered an ARC and I’m glad to say I was not disappointed.
I realized that this story was well into the series and though I was able to understand enough to not be lost I still felt like I could have benefited from reading earlier books as the world building was nearly nonexistent and I didn’t realize at first that the aliens that were the main male characters were purple.
So, the h was a very like able character. She was spunky and tough but she was also pretty badass when it came to centering herself and being zen. It seriously made me want to learn how to meditate properly. The guys were all broken and tough, determined not to allow another woman to penetrate their shields. I teared up a couple of times reading about their pasts and when they cruelly pushed the h away. I knew the reason they were pushing her away but it didn’t make me very happy with them.
The title of the story is defending their mate so there had to be a circumstance in which she needs defending, right? Well, rest assured, she needs major defending. And even though her men are nearly past their prime they do a good job in their task. Of course they are still idiots till the end.
The end, now that does bring up one problem I have with the story. They continue to push her away, again, cruelly, but she’s having none of it. I will never know if they stay with her because they truly want to or if they have to. And that kind of sucks. I really wish we didn’t have to read that final scene of them trying to push her away again, honestly it was unnecessary.

Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the story and definitely plan to go back and read the other books in this series.

Aliya has worked with Aartan as doctors often do, but theirs is a unique match. Aartan's gyron aka pheramones flow like crazy whenever Aliya is close. There is definitely a connection between them but Aartan fights it at every turn. Aliya decides it's time to confront Aartan and does after consuming some liquor. It doesn't go well for Aliya as Aartan does everything he can think of to warn her off
him. Well things aren't what they seem, Aartan and his twin, Azar keep to themselves as they are both wounded warriors with a heartbreaking past. This is the story of the Therans defending their mate, so we already know that they recognize Aliya as their mate but try denial as long as they can get away with it. The Tharan twins are trying to hide their physical and emotional pain but Aliya is a doctor and an empath, she knows about their pain, just not how to fight against it. The twins do accomplish pushing Aliya away and she leaves, but gets abducted by the evil Bophe and taken to Tanis Major,
the place where Bophe has his arena where only the strongest fight to survive. Chancellor Kal argues with Aartan and Azar who naturally want to go save Aliya but they are older and physically damaged. The rest is all action and many risks to get to Aliya to rescue her. There is a lot of help with the rescue mission as Kyra's mates, Jax and Jynnher along with the young girl Ceres have a lot to do with the rescue mission, which ends up dealing with magical enemies and man eating dragons!
This is a page turner, I love all the Theran warriors and this story does not disappoint, but it does let you feel many emotions, not all good, but we know when dealing with Therans, it will all work out somehow.

So, I love alien romances. I love fated mate romances. I love menage romances. So, when you get them all together in one book? Yup, I'm going to be all over that. And Kallista Dane does it so very well.

Aliya is the medical officer from the Luna. She's now working with the Tharans, particularly Aartan, a very talented surgeon. Aliya isn't just a medical doctor or psychiatrist, she's a Healer. She has empathic skills that will let her heal the hurts of the mind and emotions of a person and not just their body. She will do whatever she can to make sure that her patients are treated and healed. But, working with Aartan is driving her crazy. His gyron affects her and makes her want him more and more every time she sees him. She's pretty sure that he's just as affected by her as she is by him, so she finally decides to grab the bull by the horns and try to seduce him. But, when he tells her that he doesn't want her, and she makes him prove it, then everything changes.

Oh my, there are so many things going on in this book. I got mad, and glad, and sad, and wanted to smack me some Tharans. But all that meant that I didn't want to put the book down while I was reading it. Aliya's mates are very awesome and very smart, and her friends are amazing. The nice thing about the Tharan males is that they not only cherish their mates, but they also let them be the strong women that they are. I can't wait for the next story.

Defending Their Mate is the sixth book in the Tharan Warrior Ménage Series, and we get to read Aliya’s romance! Aliya is a doctor and can heal both body and mind, and while she can be analytical at times, she’s been triggered by Aartan’s gyron. Aartan is surrounded by mystery, honor, and past hurts, and while he tries his hardest to resist Aliya, one night with her will have to be enough. When she is kidnapped by an enemy, Aartan and his twin, Azar, know it’s time to come out of their shell of their past to save Aliya and finally claim her properly, before it’s all too late!

Oh wow, this book was pulling at my heart! Just when Aliya finds her own set of Tharan twins, they send her away. Then she’s kidnapped and taken as a slave, again! I can’t even imagine what all was going through her mind, but she was such a strong character and woman. I loved the mental shift with Aartan and Azar, going from bound in their past to breaking free to go save their mate. While I maybe didn’t love all of their actions in the beginning, they redeemed themselves by rushing to be her defenders! This series has been very steamy, entertaining, and really sucks me in, and this book was no different!

Aartan background is so sad. He and his twin, Azar, had a mate. But do to war and complications, there was a great deal of loss. Aliya was a born healer. Her skills learned by her parents. Aliya feels the gyron pull towards him. But Aartan keeps fighting it. Believes that he is not worthy of another mate. Aliya proves him wrong. But then comes the surprise or rather finally the understand about why we never hear about Azar. But when Aliya tries to make them see that they are compatible and that they should be together, the brothers dismiss it. They believe they are too old for her and that she should find someone younger. You would think two males that were this intelligent, would realize that to scorn a woman and treat her as if she does not know her own mind, makes her more determined.

With a battle to rescue the damsel and seeing again Jax, Jynn, Cere, and Kira, it was so much fun. I always love that regardless of which warrior it is, they all have gyron that has a chocolatey taste. GOD knows if that was true, I think every woman would be sucking that up. LOL

Now we need to find Jazz and hopefully that is the next book.

More like "Denying their Mate"

I have read a few books lately where these huge, hardened warriors kept denying their mate for various reasons. Now, I know that everyone has a bad day, and that even warriors can feel old and battered. But warriors who have fought numerous times, who have lost numerous brothers during battles, and who come home...changed, should be the ones most eager to grab life by the horns and never let go. They know how precious life is. They know how easy it is to snuff it out. So, what does all this have to do with this book? Well, it's hard to completely explain without spoiling the story for others-something I would never do. Suffice it to say that Azar and Aartan were willing to let a second chance at a happily ever after out of their hands. That bugged the crap out of me. If Aliya hadn't taken matters into her own hands, these warriors would have essentially cut their own noses off to spite their faces. There's a story behind their decision, so give the book a try! I just can't stand weak alpha warriors right now. I borrowed this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.

Book 6 in this series and can be read as a standalone.

Aliya works with Aartan in the lab, he's an older more mature Tharan, he doesn't appear to have a mate or a twin, but her heart races whenever they are near each other and she is highly attracted to him, but he is cold and standoffish, wanting nothing to do with her. But she feels his gyron swirling around her, knows he is as affected as she is and challenges him to a kiss. The kiss turns into a night of passion, before she is sent away for her own good. But Aliha is kidnapped and a challenge is sent out for the best set of Tharan twins to come and meet the challenge and rescue Aliha.

This is a different type of storyline to the other Tharan book I've read, but its still as hot as ever, but with a different take on the twins, being older and damaged from previous battles. A good story line, fast paced, suspenseful and a fun read. Well worth the read.

I received an ARC copy of this book and I have read and reviewed it. Therefore giving my honest and voluntary review.

I am in AWE!!! This installment will melt every part of you. This is the story of Aartan and Azar. Great warriors who suffered even greater losses. So they turned inward. Cut themselves off from ever feeling nor loving. Then enters Aliya. A strong human with special talents. She knew of the Tharon warriors and the effect their Gyron had on human females. She ignored it. She had been through enough. Kindnapped. Sold. That was a lot. Soon she couldn't resist them. She wanted them. She needed them. Being hardened against the emotional crimes in their lives the struggled to ignore her. Struggled against the fact their Gyron flowed heavily for her. As the events unfold. Aliya is in danger. They would do anything for her. Save her. This install ment will leave you breathless. Highly recommended.

Aartan and Azar were a couple of older (middle aged?) warriors who had lost there first mate while they were away at war and kept pushing Aliya away, they felt they were to old and damaged. After a night of passion, that Aliya pushed them into, they sent her away and she wound up being abducted. Through this whole thing if there was any progress for the 3 of them it was because she made it happen, so I wasn't thrilled with this book. A strong heroine who knows her own mind is nice, but I like my heros to be even stronger and more dominate.
I read and reviewed this book as a voluntary ARC.

I’m sorry but I’m not going to give away any spoilers of any kind because I’m not the type that does that. So all I’m going to say about this book is that it’s a fantastic story! This is my first time reading anything by Kallista Dane and I must say she is great at weaving her stories to the point that the reality that she has created and the characters seem so real. I will definitely be checking out more of her work in the future. So if you are asking if I recommend this book my answer would be a big HECK YEAH I am recommending this book to anyone who’s looking for a fantastic story to get lost in.

If you've been following Ms. Kallista Dane and her Tharan Warriors series you'll know that several of our heroines are falling in love with Tharan twins who stir their blood to no end. Meet Aliya, one of the top doctors from earth helping wounded warriors recover from their wounds, both mentally and physically. Aliya has a gift of compassion and empathy which is attracting Dr. Aartan but he's living in denial because he fears he may be too old and too damaged to love her the way she should be loved. And where is his twin ?? Love come in twos on Tharan. Can you keep a secret ?? Not sure I trust you ... so ... go get Book 6 and check it out. You may be surprised.

Book 6 in the Tharan Warrior Books. It can be read as a standalone. This story is about Aliya and Aartan.

What I loved about this book is that the Warrior are different. They are a older and battle scarred. They are not perfect, but that also makes them more real. Even Though there is an attraction to Aliya, they don’t act on it because they don’t think they are worthy.

But Aliya is stubborn and know what she wants. When her life is in danger her warrior spring into action. The arena scene was action packed and read like a movie.

A great addition to the series.

I think this is the better of them all. I just binged all the books the past two days and I have to say they were getting a little overkill with all the sex and the story kinda of repeating itself. But this one walked away a little bit and brought a different storyline with the twins being "older" and having a history and so on. It was a good read. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.

Defending there mate

This is the last of the crew to find her mates who were left together. Aliya fell in love with the doctor but could not understand why he did not have a partner. Then they all meet and together make love. Then Aliya is taken prisoner and everyone goes to find her. I’m not going to spoil the rest only to say you have to read all 6 books as you will not be disappointed.

I Love This Series!

These books fit together seamlessly to portray one fascinating story! The coolest thing, however, is that they can be read as standalones in any order and still mesh!

These magnificent warriors and human women are brought together by circumstances that could only come by the hand of fate! If you enjoy tales of dominance and submission, this is right up your alley.

Short

Too short. Love the series this book included but the books need to be longer especially this. The reason I gave it 4 stars was that the twins whine about not being good enough and too old through out the book and she had to make them except her otherwise I loved the story.
