Pleasantly surprised!

The book didn't start off like most Christian books I've read, thought I wouldn't like it. Turns out, I LOVED it!

Women come in all sizes, shapes and colors. We each have our own unique personality that should be celebrated. Social media attempts to tell us we need to fit in a certain mold. But we need to be the women that God intended us to be. This book does an excellent job celebrating all women. Sheila is open and honest with her struggles with self esteem. I could totally relate to her story and appreciated her insight.

Very encouraging thank God for this book. It encouraged me to fight harder and reminded me that God's not through with me regardless of my faults and my mistakes

É bom, são devocionais. O único problema é falar que Elias era padre, achei esquisito nesse sentido.
Mas fora isso é bom!

Another book not from my shelf but a book I felt I needed to read. I'm not sure I'm going to make it through my goal of reading through my bookshelves in 2010. Maybe summer will help me pick up the pace when I'm not working full time.\n \nSheila Walsh knows what it's like to pretend you have everything together. To run around in a cape saving the day, your kid, your friends, your employer, the word. But inside you are falling apart or just not as fulfilled as you believe Jesus died so you can be.\n \nIn this book, Sheila goes through the myths that we believe and helps us to identify and let go of thought patterns and ideas that keep us bound. She then goes a step farther by talking about the truths in the Word of God and how we need to capture vision from them.\n \nA lot of the materials is concepts I've heard or read before. But I need to keep hearing/reading as clearly it isn't sinking in yet. Otherwise I wouldn't be so driven to live up to the expectations of others - or the expectations I believe others to have of me.\n \nQuote to take away: No human being can destroy what God has purposed [referencing Joseph and the twists and turns his life took after God gave him a vision]. God's timins is perfect, His will is perfect.\n

This was an easy book to read and actually enjoy. There were some interesting observations from traveling, speaking, growing up in Scotland, being a wife and mother. Examples: "Children are the best recorders of information and the poorest interpreters." "I have seen over the years that anger is often linked to fear and chained to rejection." (on Abigail): "I'm sure his behavior was at best rude and at worst abusive, but she didn't let who Nebal was determine who she was." Quoting others: (Woody Allen) "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me." (Barbara Johnson) "I am actually a perfect size 10; I just keep it covered with fat so that it doesn't get scratched." I think I would have said size 2 while I was at it.

Walsh was a cohost of the 700 club with Pat Robertson, so this will appeal to evangelical Christians in particular. While it delivers an affirming message nicely, and includes lots of scripture, I once again wonder why an author has to emphasize how they descended into a mentally disfunctional place before they can supply an uplifting message. Just seems to be a common format for many books.

A great book that encourages the women to try not to be anything other than what God has created you to be. It helped me to see that being a perfectionist isn't always good and can stand in the way of what God has in store for you. Sheila has a neat way to get a message across using life experiences and a mix of her own humorous style.

This is a wonderful, honest book. Sheila Walsh shares from her experience as a mother, wife, talk show host, Christian woman and is open and honest 100% of the way. She uses these experiences to shape advice for the reader and deals with many of the issues woman face - insecurity, anxiety, the quest to be thin etc. I found this book to be really well set out, and overall a good read.

this wasn't a book I could read quickly. Each chapter deals with how we as woman view ourselves and our lives. Deals with emotions. shows valid scripture references. Shiela as always give great insight into our lives by real example.

This was a slow read, as there's a lot of information to weigh through. Take what applies to you, and let the rest pass over you. The ending sums up well what I got out of it, Nothing will happen today or tomorrow, that hasn't passed through God's loving hands!

It was okay. Not exactly what I was looking for, but extremely positive. This author is clearly a speaker, not a writer.

I loved this author when I saw her at the Women of Faith Conference. This book was a little repetative but I did like it none the less.

Good book that really didn't move me till the end. Everyday now I have to repeat my new manta. "I am not wonderwomen but God made me wonderful." God will help through everything!
