Feel a bit bad giving this 3 since the majority of the art in it is lovely and the behind the scenes photos are great, but it feels a bit of a swizz that this is a collection of covers (the finished versions of most of them already appear in earlier collections too) when it looks, from the cover and title, like it should just be continuing the collection of the Mirage run of comics.

A fantastic run of TMNT adventures. The first five volumes are the core story, volume six is a bunch of short stories or one-shots. Some are good, some are great. And finally, volume seven is a collection of the covers, which I thought was fun to browse through.

The core story, I think, will be surprising to readers who are only familiar with the movies or video games. It is a lot more serious; the turtles are on a journey of self-discovery, and not as many jokes as you would imagine based on the movies, for example.

There are tender moments, and melancholy ones as well, all culminating in a final showdown with the remnants of the NY foot. A fun read with some very ambitious issues with car chases, text-free issues, and travels through time and space.

If you go in knowing this is essentially a cover art collection, then this is pretty good. I do kinda wish there was more commentary though.
