Every so often I go through a number of book seller sites which have discounted books and this was part of the latest haul.
It is another in what is a growing trend of the .. The art and making of.. books, which I have to say I really enjoy. For me its the mixture of behind the scenes details that would otherwise never see the light of day, the discussion of the lost material, more often left on the cutting room floor and the various creative processes that were employed to bring the film to life.
All of these are explored in varying degrees, however in this book there is an extra element (I would not say it is new as I have seen it in other books to varying degrees) of introducing the cast, the storyline and hints of the storyline. I guess in another age these would be the behind the scenes documentaries that the studios would release to help drive interest when the film was released.
So here you have all of that in one book-the art work is amazing and the quality of the book is amazing, however the character of the book can be at times confusing since you are not sure if it is giving away trade secrets or trying to entice you to see the film/
