The ultimae Laurel Canyon/Topanga of 70's novel! Starring The Eagles along with other artists of that period, this novel is both weird and great. And funny as well. But what is great is how Joy takes an entire pop culture and runs with it in novel form. Again, a very unique writer with an odd vision.

Whoa, maybe my favorite of the Camden Joy books, definitely the most cohesive. Basically this from David Geffen's Wikipedia page told as a western and with a lot more about the greediness of the Eagles: "Geffen began his entertainment career in the mailroom at the William Morris Agency, where he quickly became an agent. In order to obtain the WMA job, he had to show proof of graduating college. Geffen forged a letter and submitted it to WMA. His colleagues in the mailroom included Elliot Roberts, who later became David Geffen's partner in a management company. He left William Morris to become a personal manager and was immediately successful with Laura Nyro and Crosby, Stills and Nash. In the process of looking for a record deal for young Jackson Browne, Ahmet Ertegün suggested that Geffen start his own record label."

Camden Joy again excels at creating the weird magical space at the center of rock.

A western starring all of the country-rock stars of the Southern California seventies. Glenn Frey is fistfighting hero, bemoaning his drowned horse. It turns out that the whole western is only going on in the heads of the self-obsessed musicians, who have ritualistically eaten handfulls of tequila worms that they have been saving all summer. Hilarious.
