A Level B I Like to Read book about cars, colors, and funny animals!
The rhino loves his red car . . . which just happens to have a rhino-horn hood ornament. And the alligator loves her green car that has sharp teeth and spikes just like hers! The shark's car has a fin and a tail. The funny animals in this book match their equally funny cars as they all make their way to a car party!

This one doesn't have a story line, but each page has a different animal driving a different color car. It's a super simple way to practice colors. Decent, but not outstanding as a group read aloud.
Young readers will want to pay close attention to the vehicles in which the animals in this book are riding. There's a reason that each one of them loves its car. After all, some of the cars are the very same color as the animal while others feature some physical characteristic of the animal. For instance, the turtle drives around in a green, bubble-shaped car that resembles its shell and the alligator gets from place to place in a car that sports sharp teeth and scales. All of those cars come together on the last page. Clearly, this book is perfect for the car-loving, transportation set, but it also serves as a good title to share while encouraging youngsters to look closely at the images.
In this Guided Reading Level B book - a very easy reader - there is a lot of repetition. "I like my pink car." "I like my purple car." and so forth. This is absolutely perfect for those just learning to read. the amusing bright illustrations are where the book shines. Different animals are driving all sorts of different colored cars, suitable for the animal. Arrows point the way. So the book includes repetition, colors, and directional signals. It has multiple curriculum uses.
Who would think that a few simple words could create such a wonderful story? I Like My Car captures your imagination through the the gorgeous illustrations and simple text as you get to meet drivers in the cars they love. It is such a delightful and wondrous adventure on the road, that is sure to entertain children and kids alike.
Very simple and repetitive text but my 3 year old enjoyed it and was able to read it to himself after hearing it once. Nice illustrations and I like the variety of animals and what they are doing on the page with them all together.
Genre: Modern Fantasy Grade: K This book had been a beginner book, for learning how to read. It had showed which type of car belonged to a certain type of animal which was interesting.

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
A series of animals ride by in different brightly colored cars and the text says, “I like my blue car,” for example, in the case of the blue car. This is an “I Like to Read” level B book.
The illustrations are bright and very engaging. I do not think this book will develop the reading skills of students since after the first page you could look at the illustrations to know what the sentence says. There is no variation in sentence structure.
