I read this to Julianna tonight for Monday moments. She gives the book 5 stars. She said she would choose Hump the hippo as a friend because he likes parties, cupckakes and almost ate a candle but Benji, bear, stopped him from eating the candle. He thanked Benji. Cute story and illustrations.

I’ve always loved the illustrations in this book more than the story. Benji is a new toy to the bed and looking for some friends. Little does he know they need and want him just as much. The story doesn’t have the best flow but younger readers will enjoy the sweet characters, their fears, and their new friendships.
A cute book, but not much for plot. I liked the illustrations and the characters, but this book read like the introduction t a series, not a book in and of itself. Nothing really happened outside of Benji meeting the new toys.A nice picture book, but not much of a story.
The story is nonsensical, but the pictures are cute and it's a board book so my daughter can't destroy it. It drives me crazy when I read it though, as the story jumps around and Benji is dumb as a rock.
What a good book to read to teach children the value of friendships and belonging. Benji the bear was a new toy who wished for friends. Little did he know his wish would soon come true, for he began to be surrounded by other toys. The other toys were pleased to have a new toy friend and welcomed Benji with opened arms. Then the advetures begin. The picture in this book are very beautiful and well illustrated. The thought of the toys going on an adventure through the house is exciting and makes the cildren's imagination run wild. This is a good book to use puppets, for it allows children to use their imaginations and use different voices.
Learning Experience: Firstly, after reading the book, the children will discuss some of the feelings that they felt when they first began school or went some where new. They will also discuss how they felt after a few days of getting use to their new environment. Then some of the children will be asked to participate in a puppet show to mimic the book. After the puppet show we will sing a song, "The More We Get Together," as they are preparing to go their centers.
This is a pretty weak book. It's nicely illustrated, but it reads like the author wanted to start a series, and wrote this story to introduce the characters — Benji meets the other toys, and they all go to the kitchen, where they eat cupcakes and see a cat. Then they decide that tomorrow, they'll play in the yard. That's not a story to me, and it didn't keep the kids' interest past the first reading.
Another one I read while browsing Books A Million (yes, I really do take books off the shelf and read them, especially kid books!!). The fact that Benji was lonely made me think the book was going to turn out interesting and sweet. Eh, not so much. It's okay, but kinda full of fluff.
We received this book as a birthday gift. It's twaddle. It does have nice illustrations, so I won't give it one star, but the "story" is boring at any age.
