What do fractions have to do with pizza? The stars of the Emmy Award–winning animated series Peg + Cat serve up — and solve! — a delicious problem.
It’s lunchtime at Peg’s Pizza Place! Peg and Cat are excited to take their first order — from the Teens! — only to learn that some customers want a whole pizza while one of them wants half a pie. How can Peg and Cat make half a pie when they don’t know what half is? Peg is totally freaking out — until Cat reminds her that when it comes to halves and wholes, it’s all in how you slice it.

An adorable introduction to fractions (whole/half) with everyone's favorite tv stars: Peg and Cat! Be sure to notice the other mathy things like the page numbers, the grid paper illustrations, and the measuring stick end-pages!
My 3.5 year old twins want to read this over and over, and they started commenting on halves and how two halves make a whole after reading this. They enjoyed the silly phrases "peg-a-licious pizza" and "our break is broke!"
Grades K-2. Peg and her cat run a pizza restaurant. There isn't much of a story here, but students will learn about halves and how two halves make a whole.
Being a librarian I am obligated to love books and never want to harm them. BUT...I have never wanted to throw a book on the ground and stomp on it so much in my life. This book will make you absolutely crazy. TOO MUCH "MATH" AND "FRACTIONS" IN A BOOK FOR KIDS! Why? Just frustrating. I get that the kids have to learn it, but this book is just overkill. It is on EVERY stinking page. Do yourself a favor and overlook this one. *Unless you want kids to know what a whole and half a pizza are. This book just has no story and doesn't flow well at all.
Stella really likes this book even though a lot of it talks about halves/wholes which she definitely did not get at the beginning. Now she will point to half circles if we ask in other places, but still doesn't always get that there are two halves in a whole (26 months)
