Super soldier, super spy ……… Alien odd job man. Gray Albern, alias agent Zero is a busy man as together with his boss and friend Geyldian, an alien clone human hybrid, they attempt to prevent the human race from making leaps which might destroy the planet or themselves. It’s a mission the circle of Numbers has been looking after for eons ever since their creators the Devine evacuated Earth, moving onward a new home world. Now everyone’s job is about to get harder still as the humans inadvertently give away the position of planet Earth to an old foe of the Devine. In a feud which has run for millions of years across the cosmos, the Khai-mah are on their way. Their aim? ..... To extinguish the Devine, their neighbours of old and expand across the universe, possessing all that they find and killing any race that would dare to stand in their way. At a time when the cloned caretakers of the planet were just beginning to allow the humans to progress technologically at a faster rate, with the goal of shepherding the planets indigenous race toward an enlightened state similar to their own, news that the Khai-mah have found the tiny blue planet couldn’t have come at a worse time. The humans aren’t ready, the care takers know what’s coming but they aren’t ready either having stagnated technologically since their arrival to planet Earth. Only Zero can stand in the way of the Khai-mah, but he has problems all of his own……….
An artist from a young age, Clifford Barker followed his father into engineering. After relocating from his home town of Sheffield, England, he now enjoys life with his family in South Wales. Now 48, Clifford is continuing to write the Zero- Earth series of sci-fi action adventure novels and the Ezra series of magical detective fantasy. When not writing, he is usually working, drawing, watching anime, riding his motorcycle, or playing with his two dogs.

Book 1, 2 and 3, Zero - Earth Fall are now all available for kindle or in print on Amazon. Wider, all the Zero books are available on Kobo, Apple, and many other platforms courtesy of Draft2Digital along with a short story called Quinn the Assassin, centred around the assassin from book 1.
Book 4, Zero - Into Ashes, is a work in progress and will be released some time in 2022
I am also working on series of magical fantasy detective novels. The first is called Ezra - The Moleculum which is finished, awaiting final editing because I went straight onto Ezra - Dark Relations, the second in the series. I hope to have both ready for release by fall of 2022.
Technological Wonder Zero – Earth by Clifford Barker is an intriguing book full of secrets. Luckily for the reader, most of these secrets are uncovered by the end of the book. However, the author keeps a few unresolved to be tantalizing morsels answered in later books in the series. Without giving too much away, this book contains many interesting and varied characters, from the main protagonist Gray Albern, commonly referred to as Zero, to the circle of Numbers who attempt to control his every move. It is apparent that the author is an expert at describing the inner workings of alien technology with such detail that the devices become real world believable. You will be wondering if the author has some hidden source of technical information that the rest of us are not privy to. The story is about a group of humans and caretaker aliens that work together in their efforts to stop the destruction of Earth from Khai-mah, a blood thirsty alien species that has no regard for any other. It is a race against time as Earth and its caretakers are woefully unprepared. And, while this preparation is gaining momentum, there are others that call Earth their home that are not so welcoming of the Circle of Numbers and the cabal’s lapdog, Zero. They are aggressively driven to stop Zero and the caretakers' interference in the affairs of humans. This book sets the groundwork for the excitement that will surely follow in the next books in the series. One thing is certain. You will be on the edge of your seats wondering what will happen next. And when you think you know, get ready to be shocked again and again. Even the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle is explained before the end of the first book in the series. And that’s only the beginning.
This is the first book I read from this author and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Can´t wait to read other books from this great writer! Amazing job! a must-read!. A fantastic book that has it all! I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for a sci-fi enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. Great book!
Interesting read with solid characters. I'm not a sci-fi reader, but I did enjoy this book. The characters are interesting and well developed over the course of the novel. My only real critique is that it can read like a science textbook at times, but that's par for the genre. The amount of research Barker has done is very evident. and admirable. Overall, I enjoyed the story. A few strategic edits would make this novel even more engaging! I'm looking forward to seeing what book 2 brings!
I don't normally read Sci Fi as I like murder mystery and other thriller genres. However as I finished the book I was left waiting for the next instalment. I'm now a senior and have been reading since age 4. Any book, written by whomever, that disappoints you when you realise you've just read the last page has to be worth a read. Come on people it's a brilliant story.
This is a great book, very well written, especially all the little details! I loved how the weiter describes places and things. Characters are also authentic and the plot fits perfectly! Definitely 5 Stars!
