What I love about the Infinite Coffee universe is it really earns this happy ending. 200,000 words of PTSD recovery before sex is even an option. Also, the sex manages to be scorching hot without being explicit. The author calls it "the most prudish porn you'll ever read," but I beg to differ. Just because it's... implied, rather than described in lurid detail, doesn't make it prudish. You'll see what I mean, if you read it.
I love these two dorks and I could read about them falling in love a thousand times in a thousand different ways (and I have), but this one's the best.
Ok so I have just read the whole ICaPD series, including the short bit taking place in the 40s, the one from Steve's point of view, the one with the Olds and the Q & A which are not listed here as separate works. Believe it or not, I wanted to treat myself to I printed the WHOLE thing and had it bound nicely. I tried to fit it on as few pages as possible. It still is 600 A4 pages long. 260K words.
Owlet chose to put the slash development into a separable fic — up to this point, "Barnes" had been firmly touch-averse and without libido, resulting in a "Gen" rating for those stories, though they were PG or PG-13 for some discussion of past abuse, and some "onscreen" violence. This now enters "Mature" to "Explicit" territory, but still with the IC&PD 'verse's typical combination of humor and emotion. N.b., Steve's PoV, adjusting to this new possibility in their relationship, is in A Chance To Try Bravery.
