Desperation: A state of despair, typically one that results in rash or extreme behavior...
Daphne Dolittle was prone to both.
Walker Brooks wasn’t looking for love, he was looking for a way out of Noelle! But his friend Jasper, an old miner, was sick and he didn’t have the money anyway. But if he didn’t leave soon, he could be in a heap of trouble. He had a reputation (or rather his father had) that caused him nothing but trouble. So when a woman approaches Walker with a way to make some money, he’d be a fool to turn it down. Unfortunately, if he takes it, he’d put her in danger. What’s a desperate man to do?
Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
It was very confusing. Nobody has been the least concerned about people's reputation, courting, chaperoning and all that, but suddenly they all get so very concerned now, when it's two people nobody in the town knows anything about. I don't get what's so funny. I hate the "oh, you're just a little woman, you need a man to protect you". She came to the town all by herself, didn't she, has been taking care of herself all by herself for over a year now, but now she can't possibly travel alone or take care of herself. And that's supposed to be romantic? No. Condescending crap, that's what it is. And then suddenly 180 degree turn for no reason at all. Uh. Ei ole päätä eikä häntää tässä tarinassa. But - end well, all well. It was OK, and I even kind of like it. At least I didn't want to hurt anyone reading this one.
On boy, Kit Morgan can surely write some of the best stories around. There hasn't been one yet I haven't loved. This one is truly beautiful, wonderful and totally amazing. Heck, the hero and heroine were perfect for each other. Heck, I wanted to marry the hero myself. But since I can't, I am so glad after all these two were trying to figure out, the fun reading about everything, I'm just so happy that it all turned out really good. I can't wait to read more about these two and hopefully there adventures to come. This is a must read in this series, and if you haven't started reading these stories you just have too. I would give this delightful story a lot more than the five stars I have to work with.
Delightful historical romance fitting for the times, especially single woman's options to invest money and travel. Believable characters, nice info on mining and illness, certain plot aspects were predictable. The reasons for a 4 star review: first - there were some incorrect word choices but understandable and second - some historical details about Easter 1877 and the importance of Wells Fargo to mining communities would be helpful. Easter 1877 was on April 1 - the same as Easter 2018. Even though Daphne sold her hats and bonnets, only one had a brief description.
This story in the collection is definately different and it has a surprising conclusion for Walker and Daphne. I really liked Walker. He has had a hard life but he is still generous and kind. Jasper is a fun addition to the town.
These stories keep getting g better! The story of Daphne and Walker was so fun. The scheme that Daphne cooked up was slightly impossible but it was great reading as they tried to make it work! Another great story by Kit Morgan
I can't say enough about this amazing series. Each new book just adds to the town of Noelle. Ms. Morgan has created some great characters in this book. Eagerly awaiting more!
2.5 stars Some of the characters didn't come across the same as they'd been portrayed in either this series or the preceding one set in Noelle. And where did the concern about chaperones and courting cone from? Nobody worried about reputations before. That said, it was a cute story.
I truly enjoyed Daphne and Walker's story. Adding Mrs. Pettigrew to it was awesome. So many women were unable to do as they wished, it's was nice that at least one could.
Love the people, the town and the entire series. Look forward to reading each new book. Thank you to all the authors who contributed to this collection.
Oh what a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive. Perfect saying for this wonderful story. I really enjoyed reading Norah and Walker's story.
Noelle, Colorado sounds like a delightfully, quirky little town. Ever since reading Her Prairie Viking, the mention of 'pie' in her books always evokes a chuckle. Ms. Morgan has a charming way of writing, full of humor, but with enough serious moments to keep the story balanced.
Walker and Daphne 4.5* I enjoyed this sweet story of a stubborn heroine wanting to travel and the hero trying to escape his father's reputation. This story is well written and has a very satisfying HEA.
Love the book! I love all of the Brides of Noelle series which is set in a small town in Colorado mount where everyone is friendly (well almost everyone). They help each other and are working toward growing the town but there are not enough women for the men to marry so they get mail order brides to come to Noelle. I recommend reading the series from book one, better yet start with The Christmas Brides series first you will be glad you did.
