Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

This second book in the Lantern Beach Mysteries was every bit as good as the first. I enjoyed reading more about Cady/Cassidy and her neighbors in her new home at Lantern Beach. I'm really liking the characters of Cassidy and Ty, and his parents were great in this one!

I feel that Cassidy is a very strong, resilient woman, and Ty is caring and loyal. The storyline in this one moved along at a good pace and was interesting.

This was a seamlessly fantastic continuation from the last book. Watching the main characters grow but also adding depth to the supporting characters. The mix of a few storyline was again beautiful done. I hope the rest of the series keeps going like this! Easy to rate this 5 Stars!

Another enjoyable Cassidy Livingston thriller. This one has her good friend Skye accused of crime when Skye's prime rival ends up missing and there's blood in the man's house, blood on Skye's hands, and an eyewitness that places her at the scene. There are more flashbacks as Cassidy hopes to figure out her own past as an undercover officer in Washington.

Listening to the next already!

Whenever I pick up a Christy Barritt book, I know I’m going to get an enjoyable read. Flood Waters lives up to Barritt’s usual standard.

The second book in the Lantern Beach series finds Cassidy anticipating her first major storm on the island while embroiled in another investigation—this one to clear a friend’s name.

The balance Cassidy must walk between discovering the truth behind the crime while hiding her experience from her past life is well written. And let’s not forget Ty (as if we could!). He’s got a few questions about Cassidy—well, more than a few and they keep piling up.
As Cassidy and Ty grow closer—in part due to the arrival of his parents—so does their attraction for each other.

I’m anxiously awaiting the time Cassidy reveals who she truly is, but knowing Barritt, I may have to wait a while. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy the ride getting there.

Flood Watch is the second book in the Lantern Beach series by Christy Barritt with Hidden Currents being the first book. You can read Flood Watch without actually reading Hidden Currents. But there is information in the first one to explain why Cassidy is at Lantern Beach, even though Barritt does hint about the reasons in Flood Watch. The romance between Cassidy and Ty's kicks-up a notch when Ty's parents drop by unexpectedly, and Ty asks Cassidy to pretend to be his girlfriend. Funny things happen. Romantic things happen. Arguments happens. Just like I expect from Cassidy and Ty. While they are figuring out their emotions for each other, a missing produce man comes onto the scene and figures the death at Skye, their friend. The hunt is afoot. Cassidy and Ty work together to try to solve the mystery. Around every turn, something goes wrong, and Cassidy tries really hard not to give her real self away to anyone. I really enjoyed the quick and easy to read mystery. I finished it one evening. I figured out the bad guy before Barritt told me but don't worry. It doesn't ruin the story. I really enjoyed this story and can't wait for Storm Surge, which releases next month.

A great sequel that I equally loved! Cassidy gets to meet Ty's parents, she is roped in to helping a friend clear her name of murder, her and Ty are falling for one another even as she resists, and she gets closure about something she needs that happened while she was undercover with the gang. There is much less of the ice cream truck in this one, but still another great book!

"Her mind flashed back to that day she'd woken up in a dirty warehouse with blood on her hands. The moment still haunted her every day. Every night."

Police Detective Cady Matthews is living an assumed life on the island of Lantern Beach, North Carolina. Her present identity as Cassidy Livingston, interior designer from a small town in Texas, is just a cover, while she watches over her shoulder for East Coast gang members trying to cash in on the million dollar bounty on her life. Her testimony is crucial to curbing the nationwide distribution of a powerful narcotic, "Flakka".

Life on Lantern Beach isn't as quiet as Cassidy thought it would be. First a murder, and then a disturbing crime scene in a local beach estate, where one of Cassidy's new friends has been suspected of foul play. Partnering with her neighbor, former SEAL Ty Chambers, to quietly investigate, proves to be dangerous in more ways that one, for lives and hearts are both on the line.

Enjoy this wildly intriguing case!

The second book in the Lantern Beach Mysteries does not disappoint but you don't have to have read the first book in order to enjoy this one. We see Cassidy/Cady continuing to "hide" as an ice cream salesman in this sleepy tourist town while waiting to testify against a large drug gang. When a man goes missing and it looks like foul play, Cassidy tries to balance becoming involved with not showing her detective skills. Love the quirky characters that live in this town, especially Mac the retired police chief and Ty the handsome ex-Navy seal next door neighbor. Suspense, lots of clues, and a fast-paced climax all make this a must-read for mystery lovers. I received an advance copy of this book but I am not required to write positive reviews. The opinion expressed is my own.

FLOOD WATCH is the second book in this series, but it does stand alone. I liked the beginning romance between Ty and Cassidy, and his mother was a nice touch.

I was a little confused by some things - Ryan hates liars, but he's apparently cheating on Cassidy and Ty hates liars and yet he does to his own family. A bit inconsistent there. It does add some funny and heart stopping moments.

Still, Ms. Barritt writes quirky, funny, spell-binding cozy mysteries and romantic suspense and I greatly enjoyed it. I couldn't put it down, avoiding my own work to read this from cover-to-cover.

If you like romantic suspense, you have to read Christy Barritt. She is an author not to be missed. I've read most of her books.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

This is such a fun series. The author does a great job of tying up the main crime in each book while still leaving enough loose ends to make me want to buy the next instalment.

Very Intense and Suspenseful

The second book in the series and it has intensity and suspense like the first book. The adventure with Cassidy and Ty on Lantern Beach continues as Cassidy struggles to maintain her cover while falling hard for Ty. I am now suspecting that I will have to read the whole series to find out how everything turns out. But it is going to be worth it. A very good book.

Ok, I really liked aspects of this book. My main glowing nitpick is that it’s too much like the first one. I don’t like the gang aspect, I don’t like the flakka aspect, and the strong woman pretending to be weak. I honestly don’t know that I will continue this series, I might pick up one of her other books not set in Lantern Beach.

Christy Barritt has done it again! This is another FANTASTIC, FAST PACED, FULL OF ACTION and SUSPENSE book! (With a bit of romance mixed in.) Her stories just keep getting better and better!
If you like twists and turns, who-done-it stories, then you need to buy this book! It will keep you on the edge of your chair. I actually couldn't put it down! I didn’t want to stop to go to sleep either. It’s one of those books which will leave you wanting MORE!
This book is part of a the series yet, anyone who hasn’t read the past book can still get sweeped away, into the current of story. It was so full of action and suspense.
The author brought more of Cassidy's past to light so we could understand what she went through and how much more she needs to heal. It was also great meeting Ty's parents and hearing a bit more of his past life too. Doing this makes the books connect and we as readers become deeper involved in the character’s lives.
I'm loving these new characters and their story.
What I thought was interesting is, that I totally didn't figure the bad guy out until the end. I was so surprised. I'm usually pretty good at it, but the author had me blown away.
Christy Barritt is truly blessed with a gift of storytelling. Now it's going to be really hard to wait for the next book!
I was given this wonderful book to read and give an honest review. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for an entertaining book to read….but just be warned….you might not sleep until you’re done with it!

Cassidy Livingston is back in the second book in Christy Barritt’s Lantern Beach Mysteries series, Flood Watch. In this quick-paced novel, Cassidy and hunky nextdoor neighbor, Ty, join forces to investigate a missing persons case that could just be murder. Cassidy is a west coast detective in hiding as she awaits testifying in a big gang case, but it seems she cannot resist getting involved in the mysterious doings in the small North Carolina beach community.

There is much to like in Barritt’s book. It definitely has a cozy feel with its quaint, touristy town setting. The beach scenes are a bonus for those who need a staycation with their reading. 😉 The characters are engaging, and the budding romance between former Navy SEAL, Ty, and Cassidy adds the perfect amount of tension. Cassidy has a backstory that is a continuing thread — this gives an extra layer of suspense and danger to the story. The mystery kept me guessing right to the end, a big plus in my book. There is a very subtle faith thread woven throughout the book. Cassidy is not a believer, but she is being wooed in several ways. I found this to be very natural. I listened to the audiobook version of Flood Watch. I really liked the reader and felt her tone and delivery fit the sassy and quick-witted Cassidy very well.

So if you are looking for a mystery to take you away, Flood Watch is a good bet. It is the second book in the series, and with the continuing thread, I suggest it should be read after book 1.

Recommended.

Audience: adults.

The danger and action keep on coming for Cassidy Livingston who is supposed to be keeping a low profile in Lantern Beach but that girl just can’t seem to avoid getting involved in solving crimes. This time she and neighbor Ty, the handsome ex-Navy Seal, attempt to discover what happened to the man their friend Skye is accused of murdering. The story takes up soon after the end of the first novel in this series. “Flood Watch” can easily be read alone but details provided in the first series book “Hidden Currents” would help readers to understand more of the background on why Cassidy is in Lantern Beach and a little of the history between her and Ty.

As expected, I loved “Flood Watch” and pretty much read it through in one sitting. Now I must wait for the next installment and I find myself a bit impatient to find out what happens next. I love Christy Barritt’s novels because they have just the right combination of mystery, suspense, action, and romance with the perfect amount of her trademark humor to keep things balanced.

If you have not read anything by Christy Barritt, please do yourself a favor and pick up one or more of her novels asap. Her Lantern Beach series would be an excellent place to start but I daresay you will probably be hooked just like me.

This is a series that you definitely need to read in order because things from Cassidy's past are slowly being revealed and there's still lots unresolved. That part has me on edge and I have my suspicions about something and I can't wait to see if I'm right.

Each book has its own mystery too, though, and this one was fantastic. Love that Cassidy has to hide her detective know-how while trying to sleuth in the background to get to the truth. Lantern Beach definitely needs her expertise -- even if they don't realize it. Love that she and Ty and are getting closer -- there's even a bit of a fake dating trope going on in this one. And I'm totally relieved that one aspect of Cassidy's personal life has been dealt with (it made me sooo antsy in the first book and half way through this one. lol But I can relax now.)

I listened to the audible edition (this series is available on Audible Plus and free on Kindle at the moment) and really enjoyed my listening experience. Also getting a kick out of 'reading' these books back to back. I am beginning to understand readers who wait until an entire series is completed before reading the books. I still think it's kinda crazy -- I like to grab the books the second they're out and then impatiently wait months for the next book to release.

This new series by Christy Barritt has been enjoyable. She does a great job of setting up a mystery that is engaging but not too intense or graphic. And she's good to include humor to have a lighter side of the story.

I liked how this second book helped me get to know Cassidy better. There were quite a few flashbacks, and Cassidy was able to grow and come to peace with some unknowns from her undercover time in Seattle.

I liked the side of Ty we got to see in this book, and it was fun seeing them work together and try to find a way to trust each other.

Not all of the mysteries were solved in Flood Watch (i.e. the mystery behind the ice cream truck-that aspect didn't play much of a role in this story), but it was a good setup for the next book in the series.

Flood Watch is a fast, clean read, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Flood Watch is the second in the Lantern Beach Mysteries by Christy Barritt. This was a great follow-up to Hidden Currents. I just couldn't put it down. Cassidy, a detective from Seattle, is on the run from a dangerous gang who wants her dead. She is still hiding out in a small town in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She teams up again with her neighbor Ty, a former Navy Seal, to help their friend who is accused of being involved in the disappearance of one her competitors. Cassidy puts her detective skills to work again to help her friend. All the while, Cassidy has to continue to watch her back to make sure no one has figured out where she is. This novel is full of nail-biting suspense, quirky characters, budding romance, and even an ice cream truck full of mystery. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed! I can't wait to read Book 3 to see what happens next!

This is the second book in this series. Cassidy Livingston's friend Skye is upset about a produce stand competitor who then goes missing and police consider her a prime suspect. Cassidy and Ty team up to try to uncover the truth while also pretending to date while Ty's parents are in town. Meanwhile, Cassidy/Cady is concerned that she might have killed someone while undercover in the DH-7 gang after having been injected with a drug called Flakka.

What really happened to Skye's competition? Could she have actually been involved in something sordid? Will Cassidy and Ty's fake relationship turn real? Are people closer to uncovering Cassidy's real identity?

It was a very engaging read. I am a sucker for successful romances, though this early in the series I don't know how it will play out. There's always a twist or two in Christy Barritt's stories I don't see coming as the story unfolds. I am excited to see what happens next in Lantern Beach!

This review and other can be found at: C Jane Read.

Skye comes to her friends, Cassidy & Ty, asking for help when she ends up being the prime suspect in the disappearance of a man. Cassidy & Ty team up to clear Skye’s name and to try to figure out what really happened. Cassidy has to try really hard not to do something that will reveal her background. Ty suspects there is more to Cassidy than she is telling him but allows her to keep her secrets. He is attracted to her and wants to get to know her better. When his parents show up unexpectedly and think him and Cassidy are dating, this is his chance to get spend more time with her. In an effort not to lie to his parents they start dating and the interaction forces Cassidy to come to terms with some of her feelings. I loved the interaction between Ty & Cassidy, and I can’t wait to see how their relationship progresses.

I just loved Ty’s mom, Del, she has been through so much but still has her faith and happiness shines through her. I loved how she treated Cassidy and allowed her to experience a mother’s love in a way she never has.

With the help of Mac, Ty and Cassidy are able to clear their friends name and find out what really happened, but to get to this point some dangerous stuff happens making you wonder if Cassidy will survive. With all the drug stuff going on it appears like DH-7 is in the area, is it really safe for Cassidy to stay in here? We will have to wait and see what happens in the next book. (I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.)

Cassidy Livingston was undercover with a gang called DH-7 (Dead Haters Seven), using the name of Cady Matthews. She is awaiting a trial to testify, so she is in hiding in Lantern Beach, North Carolina. A neighbor, Ty, is very helpful with protecting the property from the possible flood that could come from the high tides. At the same time his parents want him to have a girl friend and get married. They assume Cassidy is the one. Things get very complicated! Another girl, Skye, is in danger of going to jail. A man set up a vegetable and fruit stand right near hers, wrecking her income. Now he is missing and she was found at his place with blood on her. There are chases, hiding from bad guys, missing people, a curious onlooker, and much danger. This is a fast-paced book with many twists and turns. It would make a great summer read.

Book 2 in the Lantern Beach series by Christy Barritt does not disappoint. You immediately get drawn into the story plot of Cady (Cassidy) continuing to live in Lantern Beach, hiding from the DH-7 gang that is trying to find & kill her. She again gets pulled into another (?) murder mystery on the island trying to clear a friend's name. In this book we find out more about the undercover life Cady had with the gang, and how Lantern Beach may not be the most innocent place for her to be.

Thank goodness I only have to wait another month for book no 3. I am loving this series!

I am loving this latest series from Christy Barritt. I enjoyed Flood Watch just as much as book one, Hidden Currents. There was a lot of suspense and I often found myself on the edge of my seat, reading as fast as I could. It was definitely hard to put down.

I really enjoyed meeting Ty's parents. They're great people. It's no wonder how Ty ended up being the awesome guy that he is. One of my favorite characters is retired police chief Mac. He's so much fun to read about and I loved that he was featured a little more in this book.

I highly recommend this series for anyone who loves a good and suspenseful mystery! I can't wait for book three, Storm Surge!

Lots happening in this story. We learn more about Ty's life and family in this story, and things heat up a bit more between Ty and Cassidy/Cady. A new crime happens that reveals more about the drug problem on Lantern Beach and of course Ty and Cassidy have to investigate. Cassidy continues with her plethora of lies (which drives me nuts - but I realized in this story more than the first that she doesn't profess to be a Christian). There isn't a strong Christian presence in these stories. There are good people in the stories, but not strong Christians. The stories are clean and the mysteries are intense and fun!

Christy Barritt will keep you turning the pages. I received the first book in the series as a freebie. When I finished it I ordered the next one and before I knew it I bought all 6 books in the series and loved each one. I read all six books in less than 7 days. There is suspense, murder, gang related drug trafficking, humor- an ice cream that seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to playing music - even when its not turned on. You can read each book in the series as a stand alone but each one will not complete the whole story. Each one is better than the last and has a teaser at the end. There is human trafficking, romance, a lighthouse that plays a part in almost all the books. Some of the characters are just that - characters to love, laugh at, some that will make you wonder which side of the law they are really on. My kindle went everywhere with me while I was reading this series.

No one asked me to read, review or say anything about these books. All opinions are my own and all I can say is that I was sorry to see the series to come to an end. I normally don't like series that go more than 3-4 books. I highly recommend the Lantern Beach series. WARNING!! You might lose some sleep or let a few errands go. I did.
